The air hung thick with the scent of gunpowder and tension. "Sir, we're surrounded! They're everywhere!" the assistant's voice, usually calm and collected, held a note of urgency. David, a man of steely resolve, remained unfazed. "Let them come," he said, his voice a low growl. "We'll make them pay for this."
The assistant, a loyal soldier but a man of action, felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins. The enemy was relentless, their numbers seemingly endless. They swarmed the clearing, their faces contorted in a frenzy of hatred. The first shots rang out, a symphony of chaos that shattered the silence of the remote wilderness. Bam-bam echoed through the trees, each blast a testament to the desperation of David's men. Their rifles spat fire, but it was a futile effort against the tide of attackers.
David, his eyes narrowed in focus, directed his men with a calm authority that belied the chaos around them. He knew their position was untenable, but he wouldn't surrender without a fight. He watched as his men fell, their bodies littering the ground like fallen leaves in a storm. The enemy was relentless, their numbers seemingly endless.
"Sir, we're losing men! We need to retreat!" the assistant shouted, his voice barely audible over the deafening roar of gunfire. David, his face grim, surveyed the battlefield. He knew they couldn't hold out much longer. He saw a flicker of movement in the trees, a group of enemy soldiers flanking their position. He knew they were trapped.
"Get us out of here!" he barked, his voice a mixture of anger and despair. The assistant, his heart pounding in his chest, scrambled to obey. The engine of their jeep roared to life, a desperate cry for escape. They tore through the undergrowth, the enemy hot on their heels.
"We're running out of fuel, sir!" the assistant yelled, his voice strained. David, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, swore under his breath. He knew their escape was a desperate gamble. He could feel the heat of the enemy's bullets scorching his skin, the sound of their gunfire a constant reminder of their pursuit.
Suddenly, a deafening explosion ripped through the air. The jeep lurched violently, the front tire exploding in a shower of sparks. They were careening towards the edge of a sheer cliff, the ground falling away into a dizzying abyss. David slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The jeep plunged over the edge, tumbling end over end.
The world became a blur of screaming metal and shattering glass. The jeep landed with a sickening thud, its engine sputtering its last breaths before bursting into flames. David, dazed and disoriented, felt a sharp pain in his chest. He looked down and saw blood staining his shirt, a crimson stain spreading across his chest. He had been shot.
"Sir!" the assistant screamed, his voice filled with urgency. He saw the blood pouring from David's wounds and knew it was serious. "Sir, you're losing blood!"
David tried to speak, but the words wouldn't come. He felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, his vision blurring at the edges. He slumped against the seat, his head lolling back. He was losing consciousness.
"Sir!" the assistant screamed again, his voice filled with desperation. He saw David's face, pale and drawn, his eyes glazed over. He knew he was slipping away luckily
David and his assistant had managed to escape the scene and were found at a doorstep. David, having lost consciousness from blood loss, slumped against the doorframe. The door was open, and someone stood there, looking at them.
I woke up in the middle of the night. I heard knocking on the door, and someone was asking for help. I didn't know what was on the other side of the door. I wanted to open it, but I hesitated. I wondered who or what was behind the door because this place was secluded, standing alone in the woods. Even though I was scared, I still opened the door. Opens the door
The next morning, I was sitting in front of two men. "Who are you?" I asked them. The injured man replied, "I'm David, and this is my assistant Jason." David asked, "And what about you?" "I'm Ashley, you can call me Ash." "Can I ask how you ended up here?" I asked. David looked at his assistant, and then suddenly, the assistant spoke. "We were thrown here. Someone was chasing us last night, and we fell off a cliff. Our car crashed, but luckily we survived. We walked for a long time and reached this place. Even David and I were surprised to find a house here... in the middle of the woods!" David's assistant exclaimed. "But you didn't say if the people chasing you were armed," Ashley replied. "Yes, they had guns," David answered. "Can we stay here until Sir David recovers?" asked David's assistant. "Yes, you can stay here, but on one condition: you leave as soon as he's healed," Ashley replied. "Thank you so much for taking us in, Miss Ashley," the assistant said.
One week later
David was almost fully recovered. "Sir," said David's assistant, "I was just thinking, how does a woman manage to live in such a secluded place, especially all alone?" David replied, "I don't know." "Did you call Sam?" David asked. "Yes, sir," his assistant replied. "They said they're looking for whoever is responsible for this and will send a helicopter here in the next three days."
Standing in a garden
"Miss Ashley," someone called out. Ashley turned around. "Mister Jason, can I help you?" she asked. "Can I talk to you, Miss Ashley?" Jason asked. "Of course," Ashley replied. "How do you manage to live in this place all by yourself?" Jason asked. "Is that your only question, Mister Jason?" Ashley replied. "It depends," Jason said. "If you answer my question," he added. "Is that so?" Ashley replied. "Yes," Jason confirmed. "I'm used to living alone, and I don't have a family," Ashley answered. "No family... You're saying you have no family other than yourself?" Jason asked"Yes," Ashley replied. "How many years have you been living here?" Jason asked. "Over eight years now, all by myself," Ashley answered. Jason was taken aback by her response."Why did you ask that?" Ashley asked, her voice laced with curiosity.
"Oh, nothing," Jason started, then trailed off. "Just curious," he mumbled.
"Curious about what?" Ashley pressed, her eyebrows raised.
Suddenly, a figure approached them. "Jason," David called out.
"Sir, do you need anything?" David's assistant asked.
"No," David replied.
"Mr. David," Ashley addressed him, her voice firm."Miss Ashley, I just wanted to let you know that we'll be leaving in the next three days," David said.
"Oh, is that so?" Ashley replied.
"It's better that way," Ashley added, her tone suggesting that she was relieved.
It had been over a month since David and Jason left... Ashley was alone again, living quietly in the middle of the forest, all by herself... One day, Ashley suddenly heard what sounded like a strong wind. When she went outside to see what was happening, she saw a helicopter arriving and a man getting out...
"Ashley..." David shouted.
"David? What are you doing here?" Ashley asked.
"Why, is there a problem with me coming here?" David replied.
"No, I'm just surprised because it's been over a month since you left..." Ashley said, "Come on in, have a seat."
The two of them went inside the house, and David's men stayed in the helicopter while David and Ashley talked inside the house. Ashley made David a cup of tea.
"So, can I ask what you're really doing here, coming back to this place?" Ashley asked, a little seriously.
"To be honest, I'm here to thank you for saving me/us when we needed help," David said.
"Really, I know that, you don't need to come back here again," Ashley replied.
"I don't want to owe you anything," David answered.
"Really?" Ashley replied briefly.
"What are you really doing here?" Ashley asked seriously.
"That's what I like about you, you get straight to the point," David said.
"Mm..." Ashley hummed in response.
"Okay, the truth is, I want you to come with me to Won Shung Haw City... and live there," David said.
"Even if I want to go with you, what would I gain from living there?" Ashley asked.
"There... I can ensure your safety, and you won't have to work or worry about your needs anymore, I'll provide everything for you," David replied.
"Okay, I'll go with you," Ashley said, unsure.David was a little surprised that Ashley immediately agreed to his request.
On board the helicopter, looking out the window
Ashley thought to herself, "It's been a long time since I left that place. I wonder what they really want from me."
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Just come with me. That's enough," David said.
Ashley and David descended from the helicopter together.
Ashley was surprised by what she saw: a large mansion with many servants welcoming them.
"Good afternoon, Young Master and Miss Ashley," the servants greeted them.
They entered David's mansion, and David told the servant to accompany Ashley to her room.
Ashley was amazed by the size of her room and the mansion itself.
"Miss, please take a shower first. Your meal will be ready when you come down," the maid said.
"Thank you," Ashley replied.
Ashley took a shower. When she came out, she saw David sitting on her bed.
