"My name is Kyle and what can I say? My life is the definition of shit…" A man standing at the edge of a bridge typed his final message on his phone.
There was no doubt that this was a suicide letter but the question was, what led Kyle to the decision to end it all?
-
"Damn it! Another shift!?" A young man cussed out, he had green eyes but there was no life left in them but that was to be expected working an extra shift in a minimum wage paid.
There was no doubt that this job was taking a toll on his body but he understood that this was something that he couldn't escape, unfortunately.
"Kyle, the boss wants you to close up!" Another employer said but Kyle was already lost in his head, regretting the choices he made to land him at this point of his life.
"I will be going! Don't stay too late…" The man cracked a joke that Kyle didn't find funny.
Kyle couldn't complain because he was the one who asked for extra shifts to be given to him as he needed all the money he could muster.
Kyle thought about returning to school to complete his education and increase his chances of having a decent life even though he was in his mid-twenties.
The sun was nowhere to be seen as it was well into the night, Kyle sighed in defeat but the thing about his store was that they rarely even had customers and it would only be a matter of time before it went bust.
Kyle lived in one of the busiest cities in the United States and that was California, the place where stars resided and that meant that the cost of living was exceptionally high.
It would be a miracle to see anything of real value around without breaking the bank, it wasn't designed for the average man.
Kyle sat and just stared blankly at the door, he momentarily thought about a bullet flying in and putting an end to his miserable life but the cackling thunder in the distance brought him back to reality as his thoughts were already entering dangerous territory.
Before he knew it, rain began to pour outside and Kyle realized at that moment that he had forgotten his umbrella at home.
The moment he realized this, he just began to laugh at how ridiculous fate had it out for him.
This had to be something supernatural, there was no other explanation at this point.
"Zeus! Is that how you face me!" Kyle shouted at the top of his lungs referencing one of his favourite games but during his shouting, a customer walked in.
Kyle immediately shut his mouth as his eyes settled on the person who had walked in.
She was drenched from head to toe and most likely entered the shop for shelter however Kyle was amazed by how stunning she looked.
She could be a supermodel but considering this was California, there was a chance she probably was.
Kyle's eyes couldn't help but trace her figure in the body-hugging black dress she had on that left just enough space to let her cleavage out, she stood at the door without even acknowledging him.
Kyle didn't expect much from her because this was his reality, no one ever took him seriously especially beautiful women.
He was tempted to ask her to get the fuck out, the camera in the shops wasn't working but his boss left it there so it would deter theft.
But before he could speak, she began to walk around the shop like she got the memo.
She began to walk around the shop but all Kyle saw was more work because each step she took, dirtied the floor.
He was already overstimulated and knew that his breaking point was just around the corner.
The lady walked through the aisle but she came out with a bunch of snacks and a pack of cigarettes that didn't even cost up to $15 but that was a decent amount.
Kyle didn't notice the bag hanging from her shoulder was a Louis Vuitton, this cost more than what he made in a lifetime but this was mainly because of the angle at which the label was tilted.
"That will be $15.56, ma'am," Kyle tried his best to give her the necessary respect a customer was entitled to.
"Here…" The lady handed him a card but the perfume that oozed from her body was alluring, it felt like she put Kyle under a momentary spell.
There was this look of disgust on her face because she caught Kyle sneaking a peak at her chest but who could blame him, it was right in his face.
Kyle quickly collected the card and swiped it, it was normal that people didn't carry cash around with them.
Kyle handed her back her card but he knew that she wasn't going anywhere, the fact that they had yet to restock their umbrella section meant that they both had no choice but to stay here.
"Um… Do you need a chair?" Kyle tried to be polite but immediately regretted it as she glared at him like it was forbidden to speak to her.
She brought out a cigarette but it was forbidden to smoke here and Kyle wasn't about to let her have her way. It was clear that she was used to having her way as she lacked respect.
"You can't smoke in here, ma'am. I am afraid you will have to go outside for that," Kyle instructed her, pointing to the bold sign that clearly showed that smoking was prohibited.
But this was the single moment that ultimately shaped Kyle's life.
