Love and Magic

True Feelings

"Now, Princess Aurora, what are the eight schools of magic?" The high Lord master ruler of Saphery asked in a deep, stern voice, standing with his silver scepter right in front of her.

"Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation," Aurora replied her eyes still on the book she was reading. He grabbed the book of spells out of her hand, then leaned forward with both his hands on her table. "Now, what school do you fall under?"

King Darion has always been hard on Aurora. He is a young king but very powerful. "True Magick, also known as Qhaysh," Aurora said, giving him an arrogant smile. She leaned forward and took her book of spells back from his hands. King Darion then just turned away, letting her continue reading.

True magick is one of those rare schools of magic. Only a handful of students are that fortunate. True magick is the art of using all winds of magic. True magick spells are the most powerful known to mortal kind. They are exclusive to the Valerian Mages.

King Darion was crowned King of Saphery when he was only sixteen. Now twenty-five, he has become a powerful ruler. He is considered the third most powerful sorcerer in the universe. He is the twin brother of Tyrion. While Darion is proficient and knowledgeable in all arts and forms of magic, Tyrion, his twin, is a masterful warrior and general.

The twins differ greatly in their outlook on the world. Tyrion sees the protection of Aurora and the kingdom of Valeria as his chief duty and is known as the heir to the throne of Valeria. Darion seeks to safeguard the entire universe and those that live in it.

After what she considered a waste of time, their class ended. Aurora hated it because it felt like a waste of time to determine where they, the ones with true magick, fit in and where they didn't.

"Aurora!" she stopped in her tracks as she heard Darion call out her name. "My Lord?" Her best friend Isha gave her a cheeky grin and left the class, leaving her alone with Darion.

"You seem very distracted lately. Is everything alright?" His silver eyes became soft and caring. "You know I hate these classes. They teach me nothing," Aurora replied. A soft sigh came from his chest. He then took her hand and led her to the window. "When you see the world the way I do, let me know." He stared out the window, looking over the entire kingdom of Saphery.

"We all see the world differently, Darion," Aurora responded as I heard the voice of Tyrion, deep yet gentle. "Ty!" Aurora ran and jumped into his arms. "Hello, sweet Star," he said, putting his hands around her waist and pulling her closer. Goosebumps swarmed over her body. "Missed me, I see."

"Brother, you returned earlier than expected," Darion interrupted. Tyrion had been away for almost six months, traveling to the border of Valeria and then by ship to ensure the parcels made it safely to the human realm. "Oh, yes... everything went smoothly."

Then Tyrion gently let go of Aurora. "Star, may I please have a moment alone with my brother?" With a smile, Aurora let them be.

Aurora grew up knowing both Tyrion and Darion. They are both five years older than her, but Tyrion and Aurora have always been close. He was her best friend and guardian. Darion and Aurora didn't get along all that well. He is the serious one, whereas Tyrion is the crazy, goofy one.
