For a moment, she was weightless, disoriented, as if caught in a dream, but the tight grip in her lungs shattered that illusion. She couldn’t breathe.
Panting, she bolted upright, the water splashing violently against the sides of the tub
Her body jerked as if fighting to escape from the weight pressing down on her chest.
Desperate to get breath into her lungs, she coughed and choked.
Her heart raced, beating furiously in her ears, drowning out the silence of the room.
Each breath was ragged, shallow, as though no matter how hard she tried, the air just wouldn’t come fast enough.

Everything was hazy, the world tilting as she stumbled forward, each step a battle to remain upright.
