As I stood in front of the mirror brushing my midnight black hair , I wondered if my going to Forks was really a good idea. My mother, well my so - said - mother Renee had Phil now. Her remarrying was a good idea. She really needed someone.

When she divorced Charlie I knew he wouldn't fight her for custody because he knew she needed me more than him.

"Bella ,are coming or not? " she called.

"Coming mom." I shouted back. Grabbing my parka I raced downstairs.

She hugged me tight ,"Bells, are you sure about this?"

"Of course , just take care of yourself." I kissed her on the cheek. Getting into the taxi , I waved her goodbye, bracing myself for what was to come ahead.

My flight to Forks was of roughly 3 hours. I thought about my fucked up life. Okay , long story - short version , I wasn't Renee's and Charlie's daughter but they thought otherwise. My biological father was a vampire , a very powerful one I might add, and my mother was a demon. My mother died at my birth and my father was killed by some psychopaths who came to kill me. They thought I would be a soulless baby who would destroy the earth the second it came out of its mother's womb. But while they were busy dealing with my father my father's best friend Professor Matthews Clairmont , switched me in some other crib that was supposed to be Renee's child's. But it had already died due to miscarriage . The doctor hadn't told her since she was unconscious. My father's gift was that he could erase memories. He erased the doctor's memory and hence I ended up with Renée. But even after all these years I could not forgive myself that somehow I was responsible for my parent's death. I was a half vampire - half demon. So powerful , people feared me, well only the people who knew what I was. I had my father's eyes a vivid violet with golden flecks. Except that I got the flecks from my mother. I was not very tall , average height and curvy at the right places. I was pulled out from my train of thoughts when the flight attendant announced our landing.

I met Charlie at the entrance of the airport.

I gave him a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek and said ,"Hey, dad."

"Hey, Bella , how are you ? "

"I am fine." I wasn't allowed to call him Charlie in front of him.

"You haven't changed much." he said. I lifted my both suitcases in one hand and headed for his cruiser.

I quickly settled in the car and looked out the window. The sky was dark and the wind howled, and soon it started raining. I saw the rain drops trickling down the window.

"Uh.. Bella?"

"Yeah" I answered without turning. I knew what he was going to ask.

"Are you happy to come here ?"

"Why? Do you want me to go back?"

"No , it's not that." he assured quickly. In fact Charlie had been quite happy about the whole thing. He had even got me enrolled in a high school.

"I just.. nothing." he said.

"Bells, how would you like a gift?"

"What gift?" I asked warily.

He looked uncomfortable but finally said, "I got you car." Awkward silence.... More awkward silence.

"What kind of car, dad?"

"Its not a car, its a Chevy. They don't make any like them anymore."

"How much, dad?"

"Its free. The things old but runs great."

"Thanks dad." I mean wow Charlie got me something. For free. We drove home in silence. It's not that I didn't like to talk to him, he preferred silence.

We reached home and I saw the big red Chevy. It had big headlights and a big bumper. It was weird that I kind of liked it. Of course , it was nothing in comparison to the Porsche Carrera I had got back home, but you know it had got that whole Don't -Mess -With- Me -We-All -Will- Live -Longer -This -Way kind of vibe.

"Wow , I love it dad."

"Now, now, thanks." he mumbled embarrassed.

I took my suitcases up to my room. Charlie left me alone to work up with my room. He still lived in his small two bedroom house. His room was down stairs. Unfortunately I had to share the same bathroom with him.

I made sure that he was gone then teleported myself to my house , my home.
