Farewell... (A Yeo Wonyoung Ff)

"We..."

Yeo Wonyoung is from a mafia background, and married to Shin YeJun for 7 years now. As time flew, Shin YeJun turned cold towards Yeo Wonyoung and would just ignore her like air. Yeo Wonyoung missed the old YeJun she loved. She wanted to give this relation a chance but what YeJun thought to act such was a whole different concept for her.

It was time for Shin YeJun to return home, and she did. It was a hectic day for her at work. She found Yeo Wonyoung sitting on the couch, chilling, as it seemed to her. She let out a sigh and sat on the single couch across the room.

Yeo Wonyoung paid no attention to her wife. It was what Shin YeJun thought. Instead, Yeo Wonyoung had her eyes all on Shin YeJun. She was just wondering how to start a conversation with YeJun. Wonyoung knew YeJun wouldn't say a word to her. This was the typical day of their lives.

Yeo Wonyoung mutters a "How's work?" to which she got a "The deal is ours." in return. Wonyoung's face was all stoic when she further remarks, "Good for you." in sarcasm. All Wonyoung heard was "Sure."

Wonyoung didn't know what to talk about further. So, she stood up from her place, and went to the bar section of the room. She poured herself a drink and asked YeJun for one. However, having a drink or two was the last thing on YeJun's mind. Wonyoung shrugged at YeJun's response and gulped the drink in one go, making herself ready for the second one.

"You shouldn't drink this much" was advised by YeJun. But Wonyoung responded with a cold stare, saying, "Don't pretend to care about me."

YeJun retorted an "ofcourse" in a snarky tone.

All Wonyoung could do was chuckle bitterly. Or so was what she thought herself. Because she mumbled under her breath, "Ofcourse, you don't care about me, now. It's been a long time since you stopped caring about me." and downed another glass.

"I don't know, neither will I ever do."

YeJun's response confused Wonyoung. She didn't know what to consider, YeJun's actions or words. She was trembling in anger and the glass in her hands was held so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Though she tried her utmost best to control this anger of hers, YeJun's response only fueled it further. She had way many questions to ask YeJun about.

"You don't care?" Wonyoung mumbled," or you don't know?" Wonyoung paused to look at YeJun, "or both?" But all she got was a "maybe" from YeJun. She put the glass on the counter. She clenched her jaw and let out a frustrated scoff. She was so fed up with YeJun's behaviour.

"You know what? I'm just so done with this all. You only come home to talk about the deals, like we're nothing more. We haven't even conversed properly for God knows how long... I'm so sick and tired of all this bullshit." Wonyoung did it. She let out all of her frustration.

"I don't think there's more to this relation, to talk about, other than the reason itself." YeJun's cold words shattered Wonyoung's heart into pieces.

Wonyoung shook her head in disbelief. She refused to believe all the things YeJun said.

"Is that really what you think about our relationship? Some... Business deal?" said Wonyoung slowly. Her heart ached thinking how little Shin YeJun thought about their married relationship and Wonyoung. She just wanted YeJun to confirm.

Without batting an eyelash, Shin YeJun asked, "Is it not?" Yeo Wonyoung balled up her fists, abruptly standing from the chair she sat on.

"It's not. We're married for God's sake." spoke Wonyoung, her pent-up anger flowing through her words.

Wonyoung pulled YeJun closer, harshly grabbing her by shoulders and shaking her, rigorously. Her anger lost to a small, hurt tone as she said, "You can't just treat our relationship like some business deal. Like we're just business partners... Like... Like I'm nothing to you..." Wonyoung's voice cracked as she failed to control all the emotions she felt at once.

"What else are we?"

"What else are we?" snapped Wonyoung, widening her eyes at YeJun's question. She knew YeJun was playing dumb game with her. "We're supposed to me more than that! We're supposed to be partners, spouses, friends..." Her voice full of anger, died in volume, reducing to utter sadness, "...Lovers."

Our marriage...

Yeo Wonyoung poured her heart out for YeJun but Shin YeJun had different plans.

"This marriage" YeJun continued, "was based on a deal. That's what defines our relation, Ms.Yeo"

Wonyoung shook her head in disbelief and let out a tired sigh.

"You keep saying it like a mere deal is the sole reason behind our marriage." She yelled, clearly frustrated.

"What about the love we had for each other? What About the promises we made... Do they... Mean nothing to you now...?"

All Wonyoung got was a "Did all such for the deal. Just it." in return and she couldn't believe her ears. Even with her heart shattered into pieces at the words, Wonyoung pretended to not be hit hard by the reality.

"You can't just brush off all the emotions and sacrifices we've shared over the years as a mere 'part of the deal.'" Her voice was laced with a mixture of anger and sadness.

More than anything, she felt her senses betraying her. She wanted to be delusional for now and her eyes begged YeJun to title it as a'lie'. But YeJun being herself, struck Wonyoung with a lightening. "It's all on your part."

Wonyoung scoffed, crossing her arms around her chest. "What do you mean by that?" , Asked Wonyoung defensively as if testing the waters, with a hurt expression clearly visible on her face. And was the wait YeJun did for just saying, "I never liked you a bit." , dropping a bomb om Wonyoung.

Her heart sank at YeJun's blunt response. She felt as if someone had stabbed her straight through the heart. The only difference being the one who said those words so cruelly was her love.

"You... You don't even like me a bit..?" She repeated Shin YeJun's words softly as if confirming what she's just heard. Her voice was filled with disbelief and pain.

"I don't." YeJun stayed firm in her place. Wonyoung stood there in silence for a time being, further shock stabbing her in the guts. She tried her level best to process the words, to comprehend how the person she married could say such heartless words with batting an eyelash.

"So all these years... You never... Loved me?" Her voice, barely above a whisper, was cracking, with her at the edge of screaming and bawling her eyes out in pain. "Never once." The feared Mafia, felt her world crumbling apart at the words uttered by her liking. He voice trembled with pain and confusion as she gathered the words to ask, "All those moments... All those years... Wehr- were they all just fake to you?" She licked her lips in nervous and gulped a whole lot to stable her senses.

But as soon as Wonyoung tried to prepare herself for worse words to echo in her ears, she heard the worst. She felt as if the floor fell apart beneath her feet when YeJun opened her mouth to just utter the most unexpected and unbelievable thing, "I forgot to tell, I'm filing for a divorce..."
