Deep In My Heart
#1:1890 Germany
The Earth is filled with humans. They are everywhere. But there is one thing that no one knows. Hidden in the darkness, there are creatures living, who live on animal blood. They live longer than anyone on the Earth, some living for thousands of years. Their blood runs cold in their veins, and they have extraordinary strength.
They are called the Vampires.
The Vampires know that if they come out of their hidings, the humans will get afraid, and then they will hunt them down until every one of their species is dead.
They use the vampires in their movies and dramas, thinking they don't exist. Think they are all in their imaginations. They find it entertaining when they watch Vampire and a Human doing romance, but if they get to know they actually exist, they won't be as happy as they are now.
Vampires are very different from humans. Not only do they live long and drink blood, they also have keen hearing senses, their wounds heal faster and they can be quiet fast. Fast enough to keep up with a wolf.
If Vampires exist, then they surely must have a ruler of their own. The Vampire, who rules over all the Vampires, is called the Vampire King. The strongest and mightiest Vampire of all.
The year is, 1890. The location, Germany. The streets were bustling with people, some were in their cars, some were walking. Some students were going home after their classes, and some old men were taking a stroll.
But, among all those men and women, one was different. That man was wearing, a long black coat, which covered him till his knees, he had a hat on his head, he was wearing black pants and under the coat, he was wearing a white shirt. That man's hair was longer than the other men, his skin was pale white. Next to him was another man. His attire was similar to that man. His skin was also pale, as if there was no blood left in their bodies.
Evrin Coddell
Sir, shall we head back?
The other spoke, as he tried to look at the other man's face. He waited for his answer. Then the man only hummed in reply. They walked a little further, a few meters, then they hopped inside a vintage car.
Soon as the car went on, the tall buildings were replaced by tall trees. The streets were empty, and only the sound of the car's engine running was heard. The two men, including the driver, were silent. Evrin was looking out of the window, while taking some glances at the driver, and the man next to him.
The other man, was just staring out of the window, with his chin rested on his palm, blankly. No expression or emotion was seen on his face, making him hard to read. He was like a sealed book, which was difficult to open.
The car stopped in front of a grand palace-like place. Made with stones and bricks, the walls of the mansion were thick and very tall in height. So high, that no one might be able to climb it. The metal door creaked open, and the driver drove the car inside. It stopped right in front of the entrance of the mansion. The two men walked down, Evrin just looked at his master's back, who was walking back into the mansion, alone, and with disappointment eating his soul.
A woman jumped right in front of Evrin, but he wasn't startled nor did he flinch, as if he was used to it. The woman's eyebrows were knitted, she looked worried. She hopefully looked at Evrin and asked him,
Before she could finish her words, Evrin replied to her as he knew what question she wanted to ask him,
Evrin Coddell
No, Vidalia. He didn't.
Vidalia left a deep breath. She was feeling sad for her master, but at the same time she wished that he would find the person he is looking for.
Vidalia forced a smile and looked Evrin into his eyes. She slowly gave him a gentle pat on his arm and said,
Vidalia Coddell
Don't worry, he will one day.
Evrin sighed. He smiled slightly and said,
Evrin Coddell
Yes, I hope so too.
The pair walked inside the mansion. It not only looked dark from outside, but was dark from the inside too. The curtains were closed, the halls and corridors were empty. An eerie silence was boarding the atmosphere of the mansion. The only sound which was heard, was the footsteps of the pair.
It was nighttime. The crescent-shaped moon shone in the darkness of the night. The forest looked scarier than ever. The wind blew, gently. Among all those tall and dense trees, a man, was zipping through them with an inhuman speed.
He didn't stumble, he didn't trip on anything, and he didn't fall down, he skillfully dodged all the obstacles in his way. It was as if he was chasing the moon, but no. He was going somewhere, somewhere in the forest.
Then he came to a halt. His eyes were of a shade of blood. He had fangs. All veins had made themselves visible from that man's forehead, arm and neck.
He looked around, not missing any details in the forest. He knew the forest well, like the back of his hand. As if he has been here for years.
The bush moved, and he grinned. His ears didn't miss the sound. He dashed to the direction, from where the sound came. It was a stag with long horns. That man had found his prey. He jumped on that lone stag and immediately stabbed his fangs on the stag's neck, while his other hand skillfully broke the stag's neck.
When he had his fill of blood, he stood up. He wiped the blood off his face.
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Now I feel a little better.
He left a deep breath. He walked through the forest, he stopped in front of a river and washed his mouth and face. He praised the moon for its beauty, admiring its beauty. And then he went back, to that gloomy mansion, which resembled a Castle.
As he walked inside, he was greeted by a man. It was Evrin. Evrin left a deep breath.
Evrin Coddell
I wondered where you were sir, it seems you went on a hunt?
Kieran only hummed in response as he walked forward, leaving Evrin behind.
#2: A Dark Soul
Kieran, a Vampire whose age is unknown. Even he stopped counting his age after he turned a hundred years old. He is the strongest Vampire of this generation, he is the King of all Vampires.
He is waiting. He is waiting for his mate.
Each and every vampire have a fated mate, to be with. That mate can be a Vampire and even a Human. But that Human has to promise the Vampire, that the secret of Vampires existing will not be revealed.
If a Human is a Vampire's mate, then the Human needs to allow the Vampire to turn him into a Vampire. As Vampires live long, the Human needs to turn into a Vampire, so that he can accompany the Vampire all his life.
But not all are lucky. Not all are lucky enough to meet their fated mate. The world is vast, and it is hard to find that one person among the crowd of Vampires and Humans.
Kieran wanted to be one of those lucky ones. But maybe, his luck is not on his side. He still didn't find his mate. Every week, he will leave his domain and go to the city, just to test his fate, to see if he can find the one he is looking for.
But every time, he fails. His destiny, disappoints him every time. He is slowly giving up. He is giving up on ever finding his mate. He already thinks, that he will never get the taste of love.
He can be with someone, other than his mate. But even though, he never found his mate, nor he knows whether his mate is a he or a she, but still his heart belongs to his mate.
Kieran, was sitting on his usual spot, his chair. From where one could get the best view from the window. In front of the chair, was a round table. On the table was, a wine bottle and a glass half-filled with wine.
He took the half-filled wine glass in hand. He twirled the glass slowly and carefully. Then he took a big sip of the beverage and gulped it down. That sweet liquor burned his throat a little.
He left a deep breath. He blankly gazed out of the window, in the sky, then he slowly mumbled,
Kieran Cyril (ML)
When will you come to me, Amore?
He is a dark soul who craves for light, and that light is his mate who is yet to be found.
A knock fell on the door, and then Vidalia walked inside the room with a smile. She had a cheerful personality. She is younger than Kieran and Evrin, but still very old. She was turned into a Vampire when she was only eighteen years old, and this is the reason why she looks so young.
Vidalia Coddell
Sir, the meal is ready to be served.
Kieran, gulped down the rest of the wine in the glass and got on his two feet. While Vidalia looked at him with a frown as he was drinking. It had turned into a habit of his, which was not good.
Without saying anything, Kieran walked out of the room, while Vidalia just followed him from behind. They stopped in front of two double doors, where one door was ajar. He pushed the door, and it opened fully.
Kieran sat on his chair, where he usually sits, leaving behind nineteen more empty chairs. The meal was served, and Kieran ate in silence. In the midst of his meal, Vidalia spoke,
Vidalia Coddell
You shouldn't drink so much, sir.
Kieran continued eating, trying to ignore her presence.
Vidalia Coddell
You might fall ill.
Kieran sighed. He looked at Vidalia, and at one glance he understood she was worried. Why wouldn’t she, she and Evrin have been with him for decades now, to be exact, for centuries.
Kieran Cyril (ML)
I won't, don't worry.
Vidalia knew there was no use in saying anything to him, well, at least she tried.
She mumbled under her breath, even that low voice was loud due to the dead silence of the mansion,
Vidalia Coddell
Whatever then.
Kieran ignored her again. He again locked himself in his room. Drowning himself in books and his work, as a King. Replying to the letter he received, reading books to pass his time, is all he could in these closed walls.
Vidalia aggressively munched on her food. While Evrin had his meal calmly, as if he was already used to it. Vidalia slammed her fork and knife.
Vidalia Coddell
Why can't he care about his health for once. We live long, not forever!
Evrin only left a deep breath as he cut his steak. When Vidalia didn't get any reply, she glared at Evrin and said,
Vidalia Coddell
Are you listening to me!
Evrin smiled at Vidalia and nodded.
She groaned in frustration and ate again as she was hungry.
Evrin Coddell
You know there is not much we can do. We can only, wait.
This time, she only hummed in reply as she chewed on her food. While Evrin again fondly looked at her with a small smile. Clearly, he was in love with the lady sitting in front of him.
#3: Peculiar Boy
The wind blew in through the open window of the room. With the wind, the sweet scent of the flowers followed in from the garden. The gray clouds moved away and travelled South, bringing clear sky for the day.
In the room, a lone man was sitting on a chair, wearing glasses, with a pen in hand. He was going through some piles of papers. Kieran sighed and let the pen down on the table. He rubbed his temples, closed his eyes as he was starting to have a headache.
He took off his glasses and placed them on the table. In that silent mansion, his shoes clicked as he walked down the stairs and hallways, to the kitchen. He poured himself a glass of water from the jar and gulped it down.
He took his seat on one of the stools kept in the kitchen. He lets out a deep breath. He needed to have a cup of tea, but he didn't know where Vidalia was.
As he is the King, he didn't know a single thing about cooking. Let alone cooking, he didn't even know where all the ingredients were kept in the kitchen. If he was to live in this mansion alone for a few days, then he might starve.
Soon, he heard the sounds of heels clanking on the marble floor. Surely it was Vidalia. She was humming a song as she walked to the kitchen. But she stopped humming when Kieran came to her view. She sighed and said,
Vidalia Coddell
Do you need something, sir?
Kieran got on his feet. He looked at her, with emptiness in his eyes, and said,
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Send a cup of tea in my room.
Vidalia only nodded her head, and Kieran left the kitchen. On his way, he met with Evrin. Who had a book in his hand. He slowed down his pace and stopped in front of Kieran.
Evrin Coddell
Sir, we are supposed to visit the Orphanage today.
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Let's leave after I have my tea.
Evrin Coddell
Then, I will give a visit to the library in the meantime.
Kieran hummed in response, and continued to walk to his room, where he spends most of the time, when he is here.
There is a large library, in this mansion itself. Filled with books, among them some are a hundred year old, containing vital information, about humans and Vampires. Evrin often visits the Library. His favorite pastime, is reading books.
Evrin and Kieran were sitting next to each other in the vintage car. Kieran was silent as usual. He doesn't talk much, unless it is necessary, and Evrin and Vidalia know it well.
Kieran was gazing out of the window, watching as yet again, the forest was replaced by the city. Now, the calmness and the serenity of the forest was long gone and the noises of the city invaded his ears, making him a little annoyed.
Kieran rolled up the glass of the car's window, trying to decrease the sound. He closed his eyes, and huffed. While Evrin controlled his laugh, seeing Kieran like this.
Soon, they stopped in front of a large closed gate, which was made with metal. The gate was old, so was the institution. Outside the gate, on the stone wall was a plate. On that plate was written, the Orphanage's name.
Evrin and Kieran stepped out of the car, and the gate was pulled open by a man. They stepped inside and, another woman came to greet them. Evrin and Kieran smiled looking at her.
Old Lady
It's great that you two boys are here.
Little did she know, that those two boys are older than her own father.
Old Lady
Last night we found a little boy, right outside the gate.
Kieran said with a smile. His voice was gentle as he spoke to the old lady.
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Where is he right now?
The old lady smiled and said,
Evrin and Kieran shared a glance, and then they followed the old lady, deeper into the building. They finally stopped in front of a door. Then the lady whispered,
Old Lady
He has been alone ever since he came here.
Saying that, she slowly pushed open the door, and then they saw, a small boy, sitting by the window, silently gazing out. That boy had fair skin, a thin body and white hair. It would be a lie if Evrin and Kieran said they weren't surprised by that.
Evrin Coddell
Such a peculiar hair color.
Immediately that small boy looked at Evrin. That boy's eyes were dead cold, and they were of a shade of a blue. His gaze sent shivers down Evrin's spine, who gulped down the saliva due to nervousness.
Evrin scoots closer to Kieran, whose gaze wasn’t leaving the small boy. Evrin then whispered,
Evrin Coddell
This boy, I never met a small boy like him in my whole life.
Old Lady
What did you even see in life? You are still very young.
Little did she know...
Evrin only smiled at her, awkwardly. He can't tell her that he might look younger than her, but is actually older than her. She might get a heart attack.
The old lady sighed, and she looked at the small boy.
Old Lady
This is also the reason why no kid wants to talk with him. And even he won't speak.
Kieran finally shifted his gaze from the young boy. He looked at the old lady, who looked somewhat worried about the white haired boy.
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Do you know his name or age?
Old Lady
No, I don't. Like I said, he didn't speak a word after he came here.
Kieran sighed. Now, he even pitied the boy. He smiled slightly at the old lady and said,
Kieran Cyril (ML)
Can we speak to him, for a while?
Old Lady
It might turn out to be a one-sided conversation, but okay. Of course, you can.
After giving the lady a last smile, Kieran stepped inside the room, while Evrin didn't have any other choice but to follow him inside. While the boy, only stared at them, not showing any emotion on his face, making him hard to read and understand.
