Too Scared to Sleep
Echoes of the cursed Manor
Chapter 1: The Invitation
Jenna
Are you sure this is a good idea? *Jenna asked, eyeing the mansion's crumbling façade.*
The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the neglected estate.
Mark
It’ll be fine, *Mark replied, though his voice betrayed a hint of uncertainty.* It’s just an old house.
Jenna
*Jenna wasn’t convinced.* The locals say it’s cursed. They talk about strange noises and disappearing people.
Sam
They’re just trying to scare us, *Sam interjected.* We’ll be in and out before anything happens.
Emily
*Emily shivered.* I’m not so sure. This place feels off.
Mark
*Mark chuckled nervously.* It’s all in your heads. Come on, let’s get this over with.
As they stepped inside, the oppressive silence was broken only by the sound of their footsteps echoing in the empty halls. Mark led the way, his confidence wavering as the shadows seemed to close in around them.
The group hesitated but followed Mark’s lead. The front door creaked open, revealing a dark, musty interior. Dust motes danced in the dim light from Jenna’s flashlight.
Chapter 2
The interior of the mansion was just as expected—faded grandeur swallowed by decay. Jenna and Emily climbed the grand staircase, their footsteps reverberating through the emptiness.
Jenna
Look at this, *Jenna said, pointing to a door slightly ajar at the end of the hall.* Should we check it out?
Emily
*Emily hesitated.* It seems like we shouldn’t, but…
Jenna
We’re already here, *Jenna said, pushing the door open.*
The room was a child’s bedroom, untouched by time. A rocking horse sat in the corner, eerie in its stillness.
Jenna moved toward an old mirror on the wall. As she wiped off the dust, the reflection seemed oddly distorted, like something was moving behind it.
Jenna
Doesn’t that look strange? *Jenna asked, her voice edged with unease.*
Emily
*Emily peered over Jenna’s shoulder.* I don’t know. It could just be the dirt.
A chill crept through the room. Jenna glanced around but saw nothing out of place. The mirror’s unsettling distortion lingered in her mind as she reluctantly turned away.
Chapter 3
Downstairs, Mark and Sam examined old photographs and dusty books. Sam picked up a faded photo of a family.
Sam
These people look… vacant.
Mark
*Mark shrugged, his confidence faltering.* Probably just the way old photos look.
Suddenly, a low, mournful wail echoed through the house. Mark and Sam exchanged uneasy glances.
Sam
What was that? *Sam asked, his voice a mix of curiosity and fear.*
Mark
I don’t know, *Mark admitted.* Let’s find the others.
They met up with Jenna and Emily in the hallway.
Emily
We need to get out of here, *Emily said, her voice trembling.*
Mark turned to leave, but the front door slammed shut with a deafening bang. The group’s faces went pale as the temperature dropped, and a cold draft swept through the hallway.
A shadowy figure appeared at the end of the hall—a gaunt, ghostly woman with hollow eyes. The group froze, their hearts racing as the figure drew nearer, her presence chilling and malevolent.
