Many years ago, in a village isolated by an imposing stone wall, erected as a shield against the unknown, lived a community marked by a dark past. This wall was not just a physical structure; it was the symbol of a deep division between ordinary men and the feared werewolves, a division created after a devastating battle that resulted in the death of many and left scars that spanned generations.
It was in this context of tension and distrust that an extraordinary child was born, Freya, the result of a forbidden love between Althea, a she-wolf of ethereal beauty and indomitable spirit, and Elias, an ordinary man with a pure heart. From the moment of her birth, Freya carried the weight of this secret, a legacy that made her unique in a world that did not accept the fusion between humans and supernatural beings.
Inside the cozy cabin, lit only by the soft light of the flames dancing in the fireplace, Freya snuggled up next to her mother, Althea. The crackling of the wood created a peaceful symphony, while the aroma of burning pine enveloped the environment. It was a special night, and Althea, with her melodious voice, told her daughter a story that seemed to pulsate with the strength of ancient traditions, the great prophecy.
"“When the moon shines like a silver beacon, an alpha wolf with black fur will emerge, fearless and strong, whose courage will challenge the darkness. By his side, an Alpha with white fur will bring the light of hope."
Together, under the cloak of night, they will seal a sacred pact. With their love, they will unite the worlds of ordinary men and wolves, bringing harmony where there was discord and weaving a tapestry of peace that will echo for all eternity.”
After a moment of silence, Freya, feeling the strength of the connection between them, turned to her mother with an expression of curiosity and hope.
"Mom, am I like you?" she asked, the innocence of her words contrasting with the depth of the ancestry that pulsed through her veins.
Althea smiled, wrapping her daughter in a tight hug.
"Yes, my dear. You are part of both worlds. You carry within you the strength of the she-wolf and the courage of man. You are a symbol of union, and your destiny will be as great as the prophecy we have just told."
The serene atmosphere of the cabin was abruptly interrupted when the door suddenly opened, revealing Elias, who entered in a state of visible panic. His face was pale, and his wide eyes reflected a terror that made Freya's heart race.
"You have to run, now! he exclaimed, his voice trembling, leaving Althea and Freya scared and unsure how to react."
Althea, who until then had been focused on the safety of her family, quickly grabbed Freya's arm, her maternal instincts kicking in. She looked at Elias, seeking to understand the gravity of the situation.
"Come with us!" she said, determination mingling with the urgency in her voice.
"I will distract them, Elias spoke, his breath heavy as he tried to remain calm. He knew that danger was approaching and that he needed to act fast."
Althea looked at him, a deep sadness showing in her eyes. She approached, and in a gesture charged with emotion, kissed him one last time, a brief peck, but full of meaning. — I love you! she whispered, her voice almost lost in the intensity of the moment.
The two said goodbye, knowing that this could be their last moment together. Elias, with a resolute expression, turned and waited at the door, ready to face the men of his village.
Althea, holding Freya's hand firmly, led her daughter into the forest.
They ran among the trees, the sound of their feet treading on the leaf-covered ground echoing in the silent night. The full moon above them illuminated the path, as if guiding them in their desperate escape.
...----------------...
Twelve years had passed since that fateful night, marked by the hasty escape and the separation that shaped Freya's destiny. Now, at the age of 18, she had become a beautiful young woman, with long, wavy hair that reflected the sunlight like strands of gold, and deep, clear eyes that seemed to capture the essence of the forest around her.
Freya
Freya lived in a small shelter built among the tall, majestic trees, far from ordinary men and wolves. The forest was her home, a place that welcomed and protected her, but also isolated her from the world she had once known. Since her mother's death, a few years after the escape, the young woman had learned to become self-sufficient. Althea, in her final days, had taught her the arts of survival: how to grow herbs and plants, how to hunt and fish, and, above all, how to listen to the voice of the forest.
Despite her desire to connect with her mother's legacy, Freya never transformed into a wolf. The ability that should have been a part of her remained dormant, a distant memory of a world that seemed increasingly unreal.
In her moments of solitude, Freya used to wander through the forest, observing the life around her. She had become a part of the ecosystem, respected by the animals and plants she knew so well. The trees were her friends, and the wind blowing through the leaves whispered secrets to her.
Far away, in the territory of the werewolves, the pack lived in harmony with nature. The morning sun filtered through the trees, creating a pattern of light and shadow on the leaf-covered ground. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and conversation among the pack members, who gathered to feed before beginning their daily activities.
"Althea was the most beautiful woman I've ever met" said Lucky, a respected figure among the werewolves and one of the strongest betas in the pack. His eyes sparkled with nostalgia as he spoke of Freya's mother. "She was strong, fearless, and had a heart that cared about all of us."
"And what happened to her, Uncle?" "asked Orion, the pack alpha, a strong and imposing man."
Orion
"To this day, we don't know" Lucky replied, a look of sadness crossing his face. "Some say she died in the woods, others say she went to live with the ordinary men, far away from us. The truth is that we could never be sure."
He sighed, looking at the horizon as if expecting to see Althea emerge from the shadows of the past.
"Well, I'm not going to waste the Alpha's time with sad stories" Lucky said, trying to change the tone of the conversation. A slight smile formed on his lips; he always preferred to focus on happy memories.
"I will always have time for your stories, Uncle!" exclaimed Orion, his voice full of affection and respect.
"Maybe it's time to find a Luna for you, Orion!" suggested Lucky, winking at his nephew, who was both his pupil and a son to him.
"Maybe I'll find the white she-wolf of the prophecies..." Orion said, letting out a relaxed laugh, but deep down, there was a thread of curiosity and hope in his words. He had always heard the stories about the ancient prophecy.
As the laughter echoed through the camp, a new day began, and with it, the promise that the pack's bonds would grow even stronger, even in the face of whatever uncertainties the future might hold.
It was a full moon night, and Freya was mesmerized by the beauty of the moon that shone brightly in the sky, illuminating the forest with a silver cloak. The soft light seemed to hypnotize her, attracting her irresistibly. Her gaze fixed on the moon made everything around her dissipate; sounds, smells, and even time seemed to vanish. Without thinking, she left her shelter, moving towards the moon-enchanted forest as if being guided by an invisible force.
As Freya moved forward, the atmosphere around her pulsed with a vibrant energy. The rustling of leaves and the distant calls of animals formed a symphony that reverberated in her heart. The moon, high and majestic, seemed to whisper ancient secrets, and Freya could not resist the mystical call that emanated from it.
That night, the wolves were euphoric, nervous, and hungry. The influence of the moon made them more instinctive, awakening the ferocity and excitement that resided within them. It was a hunting night.
Orion, Lucky, and their pack transformed, assuming their majestic lupine forms. With fur that shimmered under the moonlight, they were an impressive sight. Orion, the alpha, exuded power and determination, while Lucky led the group, his indomitable spirit guiding them through the forest. Together, they launched themselves through the vegetation, moving with agility and grace, each step carefully calculated, in search of their prey.
As the wolves launched into their hunt, Freya remained there, watching in a trance, as if the moon had imprisoned her in an enchantment.
As the young woman ventured deeper into the forest, the beauty of the night was abruptly replaced by terror. Suddenly, she came across two men from her former village, familiar figures who now seemed strange and threatening. They did not recognize her, and the gleam in their eyes reflected a mixture of confusion and hostility.
"No, please!" she screamed, terrified, as instinct propelled her to run. The men, believing she was one of the creatures of the night, began to chase her, their voices echoing in the darkness.
"Let's kill her!" one of them said to the other, and Freya's heart pounded with a fear that paralyzed her. She ran with all her might, the branches and thorns of the forest tearing at her skin, but the pain was a distant concern compared to the need to escape.
Far away, the wolves darted through the forest, searching for the first prey of the night. Orion, in his lupine form, felt the adrenaline pulsing through his veins as his instincts guided him. But suddenly, as he ran, he heard a scream that pierced the darkness like a sharp blade.
"Help!" the female voice echoed in his mind, repeated several times, as if calling for him.
Orion stopped abruptly, returning to his human form, surprised by the sound that struck him. He looked around, trying to locate the source of that desperate plea.
"Help!" the voice repeated itself, now closer, full of dread.
Lucky, realizing that Orion had stopped, also returned to his human form and approached him, concerned.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Do you hear that?" Orion retorted, the urgency in his voice evident.
"Hear what?" Lucky asked, frowning.
"That voice!" he exclaimed, closing his eyes for a moment as he sensed a sweet scent lingering in the air, mixed with the smell of blood. This combination confused him, but the instinct to protect began to dominate him.
"Do you hear that?" he asked the other wolves that were around.
They all shook their heads, but the Alpha's determination grew. He felt he needed to act.
"Let's go!" he decided, transforming back into a large black wolf, majestic and powerful. He moved towards that distressed voice, while his pack followed, running in unison, each of them feeling the urgency of the mission that unfolded.
Freya, still running, felt the air around her change. The sound of the men's footsteps behind her grew fainter and fainter, but the feeling of being chased did not disappear. The desperate cry she uttered seemed to echo through the forest, and fear consumed her. At the same time, a new hope arose, like a beacon in the darkness, and she wondered if anyone would come to her rescue.
Meanwhile, Orion and his pack darted through the forest, guided by the voice crying for help, ready to face whatever danger might lurk in the shadows.
As Freya ran, her body moved agilely among the trees, but, in a moment of distraction, she tripped on a branch hidden on the ground, falling heavily. The impact was abrupt, and her breath became shaky as she tried to recover and get up.
The men approached, their menacing silhouettes standing out in the dim light of the forest, and one of them brandished a gleaming knife, the metal reflecting the moonlight.
"Please, don't do this!" Freya exclaimed, her voice filled with despair and fear. The plea echoed in the night, but it seemed to be in vain.
When one of the men prepared to hurt her, a deep, ferocious growl cut through the air. A huge black wolf, with dark fur and eyes blazing like embers, advanced on the man, throwing him away with a powerful blow. The aggressor's scream mingled with the sound of leaves and branches breaking under the wolf's weight.
The second man, terrified at witnessing the scene, turned and tried to flee. But the black wolf, agile and relentless, jumped on him, attacking him with a ferocity that seemed almost supernatural, tearing him apart as if he were paper.
After the brief but intense confrontation, the wolf turned to Freya, who was still lying on the ground, terrified and hurt. He looked deeply into her eyes, his keen senses catching her scent and hearing the accelerated beat of her heart. The connection between them was established in an instant, and, to Freya's surprise, she felt no fear — only a strange sense of security.
Soon after, Orion, the wolf who saved her, began to transform. The magic of the full moon illuminated his body as he returned to his human form, his muscular and imposing silhouette rising before her. Along with him, the pack also transformed, revealing their human limbs, but with eyes that still carried the ferocity of their lupine forms.
Orion held out his hand, offering to help Freya up. However, his expression was serious, and the intensity in his eyes left no room for doubt.
"Who are you?" he questioned, his voice deep and authoritative, as if facing a strange threat.
Freya felt a chill down her spine, not only because of his tone of voice, but also because of the ferocity that he and Lucky displayed. The two human men who had transformed into wolves were now standing, ready to interrogate and protect what was theirs.
"Why were you alone in the woods?" Lucky added, his penetrating gaze assessing the situation, as if each word was a piece of the puzzle they needed to solve.
Freya took a deep breath, trying to gather her courage in the face of the intensity of the situation. The words were on the tip of her tongue, but the vulnerability she felt made her hesitate. She knew she needed to explain, but she also understood that her answer could shape how those men, now in their human forms, saw her.
"I don't know, I just looked at the full moon and, when I realized it, I was already in the forest!" Freya exclaimed, her voice trembling with nervousness, her eyes shining with a mixture of fear and confusion.
Orion's question hung in the air like a shadow, laden with a gravity that made her feel even more vulnerable. He approached, his imposing presence making her heart race.
"Are you one of us?" Orion's deep voice echoed, firm and authoritative, like thunder on a stormy night.
Realizing that Orion's intensity was only amplifying the dread that already dominated Freya, Lucky decided to intervene. With a kind gesture, he called his nephew aside, moving a little away from the young woman.
"Orion, can we talk?" he suggested, his soft voice contrasting with the palpable tension in the air.
"She's scared and hurt. Let's give her a moment to breathe. Let me interrogate her, okay?" Lucky said, trying to defuse the situation like a father seeking to comfort a frightened child.
Orion hesitated, but finally nodded, reluctantly agreeing. Freya, still trembling, sat down on the leaf-covered ground, trying to control her breathing as she tried to calm the heart that was pounding uncontrollably inside her chest. The other members of the pack whispered among themselves, exchanging looks of curiosity and concern, as if the surrounding forest was absorbing the tension.
After a few minutes that seemed like an eternity, Lucky approached Freya, his presence now calmer, seeking to establish a genuine connection.
"What is your name?" he asked, his calmer, more encouraging voice helping to ease the pressure on her shoulders.
"My name is Freya," she replied, a slight sigh escaping her lips, as if she could finally exhale some of the anxiety that consumed her.
"Are you one of us too?" Lucky questioned, the curiosity evident in his eyes, as if he expected the answer to illuminate an unknown path.
"I don't know… I've never transformed," Freya said, an expression of disappointment spreading across her face, as if a shadow had crossed her soul.
"Are your parents like us?" he asked, trying to piece together the puzzle that was forming before them.
"Just my mom. She was like you," Freya replied, her voice wavering, laden with nostalgia and longing.
"Who was your mother?" Lucky insisted, the intention of finding out more about the young woman evident in his fixed gaze.
"Althea. Her name was Althea," Freya revealed, the memory of her mother bringing a mixture of pain and love to the surface.
Freya's words left Lucky in shock, a wave of conflicting emotions washing over him. The name "Althea" echoed in his mind, like a distant echo from a past he could never forget.
"Althea is your mother?" he repeated, almost in disbelief, incredulity coloring his voice.
"Yes, she was like you, but my father was just an ordinary man," Freya explained, sharing the story of her origin, each word laden with an emotional weight that seemed to echo in the darkness of the forest.
Freya told Lucky her story.
Sadness gripped the wolf as he heard about Althea's death, a deep, painful feeling that made him feel as if a part of his own story had been ripped away. He got up, seeking out Orion's presence, his heart clenching at the thought of the revelation.
"Why are you like this?" Orion asked, noticing the change in his uncle's countenance.
"She is Althea's daughter," Lucky revealed, the confession falling like a stone in a calm lake, creating ripples of surprise and concern.
"So why didn't she defend herself?" Orion inquired, his voice laced with suspicion as he looked at Freya from afar, who recoiled under his scrutiny.
"She is the daughter of the she-wolf with an ordinary man. She's never transformed," Lucky explained, the reality of the situation becoming clearer, like a day slowly revealing itself.
"So, she's human," Orion stated, the coldness of his words echoing in the darkness of the forest.
"Maybe, or maybe not!" Lucky retorted, the unease growing in his chest. He knew there was something more to Freya, something that deserved to be discovered.
"Let's let her go and return to the pack," Orion exclaimed with determination, his voice as firm as a command that brooked no argument.
"We can't leave her here!" Lucky insisted, the urgency in his voice increasing. "She could be one of us. We cannot ignore what she can become."
"She's weak, Lucky. She can't live with us," Orion replied, his gaze stern and unforgiving. Those words cut like a blade, and Lucky felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. He knew he had to obey his alpha, but the desire to protect Freya pulsed within him like a primitive instinct.
With a heavy sigh, the two turned away, leaving Freya alone in the dim light of the forest. Silence enveloped the place, and the young woman felt the weight of loneliness settle in her heart. A mixture of fear and sadness enveloped her, while the echoes of her own confusion resonated in her mind.
As Orion walked, the light of the full moon illuminated his path, but it also seemed to distort his perception. A soft, desperate voice began to echo in his mind, like a whisper that intertwined with the night wind.
"Don't leave me alone..." the voice murmured, a plea that seemed to come from a deep, unknown place, making his heart hesitate. The moon reflected his emotions, bringing to the surface an inner conflict that made him waver.
Suddenly, as if drawn by an invisible force, Orion turned abruptly and ran back to Freya. He found her there, vulnerable, small under the silver light of the moon, and something inside him broke.
Without hesitation, he took her in his arms, the strength of his body enveloping Freya in an unexpected shelter. She was surprised, her eyes widening in disbelief as he lifted her with ease, as if she were made of feathers.
"What are you doing?" she asked, her voice trembling between confusion and a hint of hope.
"We can't leave her here," he declared, renewed determination in his tone.
With Freya in his arms, Orion began to run towards the pack, his wolves following him in a frenzy, like arrows cutting through the air. The forest seemed to vibrate around them, the sounds of nature mingling with the pounding of his heart.
Freya felt the wind on her face and, for a moment, the feeling of freedom enveloped her. She didn't know what the future held, but there, in Orion's arms, there was a glimmer of hope.
