Davao City, Airport

"Ella, mommy will miss you so much. Remember to call us when you get there" mom looks at me with her teary eyes as I smile at her and give her a tight hug "don't worry mom, I will" I said as I pull away from her.

"Flight 206 from Manila to Korea is now boarding" As soon as I heard my flight being announced, I grabbed my suitcase and looked at my mom one more time and smiled. After that, I turned around and walked away.

This is actually my first time going alone without my parents. Two months ago, I received the news that I had passed high school in Korea. I was confused about how I got in, as it turns out my grandmother accidentally put me there, thinking it was an audition. *sigh* I'm going to miss my family here.

3 hours later

My flight successfully arrived in Korea. I was nervous at first, but I remembered what my mom said to me. She mentioned that she has a friend who works in Korea. She also said that she told everything to her friend and that she is ready to help me. As people walked straight, I saw many people waiting for their loved ones.

I guess I'll need to find her As I was about to walk around, my phone rang. I grabbed my phone to look at the caller, but it was a mobile number, so I didn't know who was calling me. I decided to answer it. "Hello?" "Is this Ella?" I raised my eyebrow as I heard my name on the other line.

"Yes, who is this?" - Ella

"Hello Ella, this is Alexa, your mom's friend. Your mom told me everything. Are you here in Korea?" - Aunt Alexa

"Yes, I'm already here. I was about to find you, but I can't seem to see you since there are a lot of people." - Ella

"Wait, hold on. I'll raise the board so you can see it." - Aunt Alexa

I turned around to look for the board, but I couldn't find it. "Aunt Alexa, I can't find it," I said, worried, and then started to walk to find the board. "The board is pink and it says, 'Welcome to Korea, Ella.'" After a few minutes, I finally saw the board. A woman in her 30s waved at me. "Ella! Here!" I smiled and went to her. Aunt Alexa hugged me tight. "Goodness, I can't believe I'm able to see you! The last time I saw you, you were a little kid, and now, look at you! You've grown up to be a beautiful lady!" I chuckled at her words. "Thank you, Aunt Alexa. I'm also closer to being an adult now." Aunt Alexa smiled at me as she hugged me again."

After a few hours of eating lunch and riding in my aunt's car, I'm finally at her house. She shows me where the guest room is, and here I am, in my room. Honestly, my aunt's house is big; her husband is a billionaire, so I'm not surprised that her house is a mansion. I lay down on the bed as I look at the ceiling.

"My... such a long day..." I stretch my arms even though I'm lying on my bed when my phone rings. I look at the ID, and it is my best friend from the Philippines. I smile and answer the call. "You, what's up, bitch!" she greets, and I roll my eyes and then chuckle. "Yeah, you bitch. That's so bad for saying goodbye to a friend," I scoff at the line. "Yeah, it's hello, not goodbye, you dumbass she replies, and I laugh. "Mel? Seriously????" We both laugh through the line.

"Anyways, how are you? Did you already land in Korea?" - Mel

"Yeah, I did. I'm going to miss you there." - Ella

"Well, not me, you bitch." - Mel

"You know what, forget it. I'll hang up the call." - Ella

I was about to turn off when she said, "Wait," and I grinned as I rolled my eyes. "Okay, okay, sorry. But anyway, you're so lucky to be there, you know? I mean, you will get to meet some Korean actors there, and OMG, some oppas!" Mel screams, being a fangirl of Korean actors. Well, that's my best friend, who loves to watch too much K-drama. "Take care of yourself, especially since I'm not there anymore" Mel said in a sad tone. "Aw, don't be sad, Mel. I'll visit after school," I smirked, and I could hear her frustrated voice on the other line. "Oh, come on, that's a long way to go!" I laughed at her reply. "Remember, Mel, time flies too fast," Mel scoffed.

"How's Anna?" - Ella

"She's fine, still being a brat." - Mel

"I can hear you, you know!" - Anna

"My!" *laughs* - Ella

"Hehehe, anyway, it's better if you are in Korea because the Philippines is getting weirder and weirder." - Mel

"Huh? What do you mean?" - Ella

"Well, I don't think you heard the news, but it said that there's a zombie virus that has spread here in the Philippines. The scientists still haven't found the cure yet..." - Mel

"Well, that's one big scary virus. It's like Train to Busan, and all of us are dead!" *laughs* - Ella

"Yeah, right. What's more is that there are some military personnel here in Deca. I guess they're checking something." - Mel

"Well, stay safe, and I hope you don't die." - Ella

"Yeah, yeah. Love you too. Gonna hang up now, and oh! If I die and turn into a zombie, I'll come to find you and bite you so you can be a zombie as well. Remember, girl, best friends forever until death." - Mel

Mel and I both chuckle from our joke "Okay, see you on summer!" "Bye!" She said with "Muah" before hanging down the call. I smile for myself...

But...

What I didn't know was... It will be the last time I'm calling her.

2 weeks, at Seoul Korea

Everything was messed up; the zombies are all over the school. I could hear their growls outside my dorm. What's worse is that my roommate, who turned into a zombie, is now in her room. I locked her in there before she could bite me.

I tried to call Mel, but she didn't answer. I scrolled down social media and found that a virus has spread in the Philippines, and people there are infected. My heart aches as I think of my family in the Philippines and my best friend...

2 weeks ago, at Seoul Korea

*phone vibrates*

I whined upon hearing my phone vibrate on my desk. I covered my ears just to avoid hearing the sound. "Just please, 5 more minutes..." I whined. The phone kept vibrating until I gave up and groaned out of frustration. I grabbed my phone to stop the alarm, and that's when I saw the time. "OH MY GOD! IT'S 7 AM?!! I'M LATE!" I immediately got out of bed, made sure to dress up, fixed my hair, and then prepared my things before going downstairs.

"Good morning, Ella! Join us for breakfast," Aunt Alexa invited me nicely with her smile. I'm sorry, Tita, I would love to, but I'm late!" I said, ready to run, but she stopped me by calling my name. "Take this with you and let our driver take you," she said, giving me a lunch box. I smiled at her and thanked her for her kindness.

At Yeon City School..

"Thanks!" I said before getting down and taking my baggage from the driver, who bowed at me. "Woah!" I looked at the high school, and it's freaking big. I looked beside me to see some elementary students and kindergarteners. In the other buildings are the high school, and finally, the biggest building is the university. "No wonder it’s called Yeon City School," I said to myself and grinned before walking across to the side.

At the entrance of the school, I kept looking at the card that my mother gave me. I was so busy looking at it that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going until I bumped into someone. "Oh no, I'm so sorry!" I apologized, and I heard the man chuckle at me. "It's fine, just watch where you're going next time," he said.

Dang, I hit something hard! I thought to myself before looking up. The boy smiled at me; his boxy smile appeared, and his hair was golden with no eyes. Woah, he's so handsome! "Wow, are you new?" he asked, making me snap back to reality. "Ah, yeah! I am," I said nervously as I nodded.

"Wow, you're lucky because I'm one of the students who will show you around. The principal is actually waiting for the newbies to arrive, and one of them is you. I'm Kim Taehyung, a 4th-year high school student." He extended his arms toward me, and I smiled. "Ella, Ella Cruz," I replied. Taehyung looked at me as he tilted his head to the side.

"Cruz? Are you perhaps from Spain?" I blinked at his question and shook my head. "No, I'm from the Philippines." Taehyung's mouth formed an "o" as if he was amazed. "Wow, I never knew the Philippines and Spain were related," he said, making me chuckle.

Taehyung nodded his head in agreement. "Oh, since you're here, I'll be showing you around." We both smiled at each other before he guided me the way.

"First off, we have the entrance. This entrance that you're standing at is for the high school. This whole building is for high school students."

(Imagine that the entrance is big, imagine it's different high school)

"Wait, is that an escalator?" Teahyung hums, "Yep, let's go up! And you'll see!" Teahyung and I ride the escalator. I look down and see some students chatting together. "And here, Ella, is the cafeteria, computer lab, and library. Over here is the cafeteria, and on this side is the library and computer lab." I look at the cafeteria, and it is big. I also walk to the next side and see the library; everyone is busy reading. In the next room is the computer lab, where everyone is also playing games and doing their homework.

I am amazed by what I'm seeing. The school has some American vibes and Korean influences. Next, Teahyung shows me the next hallway. "In this hallway are the classrooms. This hallway is for first-year high school students, and even the third floor is full of first-year students."

By the way, what year are you?" Teahyung ask "4th year" Taehyng claps his hand "woah, we're same! Oh The Senior classroom are right in the next building that is near at the university." Taehyng said making me eyes widen in surprise. said making me eyes widen in surprise.

"Woah, this hallway is giving me some American vibes," Taehyung chuckles after hearing my words. "Well, because the owner of this school is American and his wife is the principal. Because of their love for each other, they made this school for us. They want young children to have a bright future!" Taehyung exclaimed.

Next, Taehyung and I walk to the rooftop. "Is this the end?" I ask, and he shakes his head. "This is just the beginning for the building. The rooms we see are for junior high school. The senior high school is over there!" Taehyung points, and I take a glance at it. My jaw drops to see a bridge that crosses over to the other side.

"Bruh!!!! I never knew there was a bridge! And fuck! It's a glass bridge?!!" Taehyung laughs as he makes my jaw close. "Language, lady, you don't want to get sent to the principal's office on the first day of school, right?" he said as I covered my mouth.

Taehyung shows me around the building. The building is not just for the Senior High School; it also has clubs inside and a gym. Our tour was about to finish when he said, "And of course, I have to show you where the dorm is, but you might be surprised." I blinked and tilted my head. I was about to ask when I heard something noise coming from Taehyung. "Oh, that's my phone," he said. "I need to answer it."

After the phone call, Taehyung was asked to bring me to the principal. He knocked at the door, and we heard a faint voice inside the room. "Well, Ella, it's nice to see you. I guess I can't show you the dorm, but the principal's assistant will help you. I'll get going now; see you around," he said, waving at me before walking away. I took a deep breath before opening the door.

"Ah, Ms. Cruz, I've been waiting for your arrival. Come inside, please." I nodded before stepping inside and gently closed the door. "Please sit down, Ms. Cruz," the principal said. I went to the seat near her desk and took my seat. "Do you want something? I can ask my assistant to get you some," she smiled at me.

"Oh... But," Ella began.

"It's fine, I insist," the principal replied.

"Alright, juice please," Ella said.

"Okay, dear. Ms. Kim, please make juice for Ms. Cruz," the principal instructed.

Ms. Kim nodded before she went outside the room. "So, Ms. Cruz, how do you like the school? I'm sure Mr. Taehyung showed you around," she said as she took some documents. "Umm... Yes," I replied. The principal chuckled.

"Are you nervous?" - Principal

"Yes, kind of," - Ella

"I see. Don't be. I'll be looking at your info for a bit, and I'll start asking some questions. Oh, it's normal to be nervous. But make sure to take a breath in," - Principal

"Yes, Ms..." - Ella

"I'm Kang Sandra, but call me Ms. Kim," - Ms. Kang

I nodded and smiled at her nervously as Ms. Kim took one folder before she took her seat. "So, Ms. Cruz, you are from the Philippines. You just turned 16 on July 24. Your achievements are top class with the highest score of 98 and also with honors. Wow! Some of your awards are from reading, quiz bee, and singing. And you joined the art club and the varsity volleyball team at Bernardo High School." Ms. Kang looked at me, still holding the folder, while I looked down nervously.

"Wow, Ms. Cruz, you are something else. I believe you are supposed to be in the same class as Kim Namjoon," said the Principal.

"Ah, it's actually a long story," replied Ella.

"Well, it's not a problem. Your mother already enrolled you here with the help of her friend, and of course, you couldn't be enrolled without meeting me first, Ms. Cruz," said Ms. Kang.

I looked at her nervously. "Congratulations, you are enrolled at Yeon City School," she said as I chuckled with happiness. "Thank you! Thank you, Ms. Kang!" I smiled at her. The door opened, revealing Ms. Kim holding a tray with coffee and juice. "Ah, Ms. Kim, come in and give the juice to her." Ms. Kim went inside and placed the tray on the desk. She took the coffee and put it to the side of Ms. Kang while she handed me my juice.

"Ms. Kim, one more thing, please guide Ms. Cruz to the dorm." "Yes, Ma'am," Ms. Kim nods. "Please follow me, Ms. Cruz," she said, and I start to stand up and lower my bow to Ms. Kang before following Ms. Kim.

Ms. Kim and I went outside of the building and went to the other side. "This school is not just called Yeon City School without this," Ms. Kim stops in her tracks, and my eyes widen. "Oh my... What's behind the gate?" "You'll see," Ms. Kim said before she called the guard. The guard nodded his head as soon as he opened the gate. My eyes widened even more, and my jaw dropped in surprise.

Inside the gate were buildings; it looked like a resort. "Ms. Cruz, welcome to the Yeon Dorms. This is where elementary grade 6, high school, and university students live. Please follow me," she said. I was still looking and trying to process what I was seeing. This school never disappoints in surprising me "Woah!" I said before following Ms. Kim.

The Yeon Dorm is not the only one here; there are some stores for school supplies and a store for snacks. "Hello, Mrs. Cho. This is Ella Cruz, a new student. She is here to get her dorm," Ms. Kim said as she introduced me. "Ah, I see. Hold on," Mrs. Cho said as she got something like a piece of paper and started to pick them one by one until she picked number 7.

"Ah, her room will be in Tower 7, on the 7th floor, and her room number is #107, the same room as Ms. Roberts," Mrs. Cho said as she looked at me and smiled. "Welcome to the Yeon City School, Ms. Cruz," Mrs. Cho welcomed me and gave me the key and a card.

"Well, Ms. Cruz, I'll be leaving now. Someone will take you to Tower 7, and you will be the one who goes to your room," Ms. Kim said.

"Thank you, Ms. Kim," Ella replied.

"You're welcome," Ms. Kim said.

As Ms. Kim left, a voice called out, making me look behind me. A man in his 40s smiled at me. "Hello, Ms. Cruz. I'm Mr. Park Junghyeon; I'll be at your service for the day. Let me carry that for you." Mr. Park took my baggage from my hand and told me to follow him. It seems like this will be a long journey for me here.

....

....

Yeah... It is...

To be continued....

Chapter 2: Teacher

"Here we are, Ms. Cruz, Tower 7. All you need to do is put your card here, and the door will open," said Mr. Park.

"Whoa, so it's like a robot door that needs a card to open it," replied Ella.

"Yes, Ms. Cruz, and also, you need your card to open your dorm door," Mr. Park explained.

"Really? Bruh, the school has a technology system. I'm in a place that feels like I'm in the future," Ella said.

Mr. Park and I laughed at my joke. He took my baggage and placed it by the nearby glass door. "Well, Ms. Cruz, I'll get going now." I nodded and said goodbye before he left. After he left, I followed what Mr. Park said; the door opened, and I chuckled.

Next, I went to the elevator and pressed the 7 button. The elevator lifted me up to the 7th floor. "Woah, it's pretty high up here," I said before whistling. The elevator door opened, and I dragged my baggage along the hallway. I made sure to look at the card that had my dorm number written on it until I found it.

But as soon as I looked at the door, I thought, "Oh..." I found it hard to figure out how to use my card on the door that had a passcode. Since I didn't know the code, I wondered if there was another way. I sighed deeply when I heard someone beside me, which startled me. "Goodness!" I shouted. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you. I noticed that you were having a hard time with the passcode," she said, and I nodded. "Yeah, it's actually my first time. Do you know how to do it?" I asked awkwardly, and she smiled while nodding at me. "Here, let me show you. Give me your card." I handed her my card, and she took it.

She placed the card on the passcode when there was a red light that seemed to be checking my card. As soon as it was done checking, the light turned green. "Welcome, Ella Cruz! You are roommates with Mia Roberts," the robot said before unlocking the door. The girl whose name is Mia smiled at me and gave my card back. "So your name is Ella, huh?" she grinned.

"And you are Mia. Nice to meet you," I smiled back. "Right back at you," she said before opening the door. "So, you are new here?" Mia asked as she placed some of her groceries on the table. "Yeah, I am," I replied, looking around the dorm. "I never thought that the dorm would look like this; it looks like a condo."

I said in amazement, and Mia chuckled, "Yeah, this was also my reaction when I first saw the dorm. But here, take this. I bought some stuff for you too." Mia gave me a bag of chips, a bag full of makeup, shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a bag of hair ties, and many more. "Wow... You don't have to... Thank you," I said, smiling at her. "Well, I have to. I bought it because I feel like I'm having a roommate, and I was right. By the way, what year are you?" Mia asked suddenly.

"Oh, I'm in my 4th year." "Ah, I see. Well, too bad we're not the same; I'm in 11th year. I'm from Senior High School," Mia replied. "Oh right, here is your room on the side. Inside, there are your school uniform and your P.E. clothes," Mia added. I went to my room; inside, there were only plain items: a desk, a cabinet, and a bed with two uniforms on it.

I scoffed and then chuckled at what I was seeing. "Oh, I'll be going now; I have activities this morning. Enjoy your stay here," I heard Mia say behind me. I was about to say goodbye when she had already left. I went inside the room and closed the door. I walked towards the window, and to my surprise, it was not just a window, but a sliding glass door. I unlocked the window and looked outside. "Woah, so there's a balcony here!" I went to the railing and looked down. The view was amazing and beautiful because I could see some students down below, and the fresh air was nice too. After enjoying the view, I went back inside.

I started to unpack my things. I put my items on the desk and my clothes in the cabinet. "I think I should buy some school supplies and other things here." My mom gave me Korean money before I came here. I went outside and bought some school supplies and items for my room. After that, I went back to my dorm. I put everything inside my room before leaving. "Since I'm done shopping, what should I do next?" I looked at the TV and decided to turn it on. The TV has many channels, but I chose to watch the news.

Breaking News: A virus called the Z virus has spread to the Philippines. The government has decided that flights coming to the Philippines will be canceled due to the positive cases of the virus that have infected at least 100 people. According to the President of the Philippines, there is still no cure for the virus, but they will do everything to find one.

As I listened to the international news, I couldn't help but feel worried. I got up while the news continued, went to the fridge to get something to drink, grabbed a Sprite, opened it, and then went back to sit on the couch.

Reporter from GMA: "Sir! Are we still safe from this virus?!!"

Reporter from ABS-CBN: "Sir! Will this cure be found before it's too late?!!"

Reporter from TV 5: "Sir, when will the cure be found and released so people can be safe from the virus and have no sense of fear?"

As the reporters waited for the answer from the General Military, Gen. Kang was silent and didn't answer the question. However, after a few seconds of silence, he answered the questions.

Hen. Kang: "I'm sorry, but as of now, there is still no cure for this virus. However, Mr. Cruz and I will do everything we can to find the cure. That's all. Thank you."

Hen. Kang left, and the reporters asked some more questions as he left. I looked at the TV screen with anxiety. "I hope everything will be okay..." I mumbled. I sighed as I covered my face with my palm. I snapped back to reality when the doorbell rang. I went to the door and opened it.

"Hello, are you Ella Cruz?" the man asked. I nodded, "Yes, yes I am. How can I help you?"

"Oh, Ms. Park came to me and said you can't start going to class tomorrow," the man said.

"Ah, I see. Thank you for reminding me," I answered. He smiled and bowed before he left. I closed the door and sighed.

That night...

Mia and I sat at the table eating the dish she had cooked for us. "How is it?" she asked as she chewed her food. "It's delicious! You should be a chef when you graduate from university," I said, making her chuckle. "Well, I'll think about it. Oh, do you want to walk with me? The night is nice," she offered, and of course, I didn't say no. I accepted her offer to go for a night walk.

After eating, Mia and I went out. We went to the store and bought some snacks. After that, she told me there was a pool behind the store. "Wow, this school is something else; it's big!" I said, and Mia chuckled. "Yeah, it is," she replied. We were about to go back when we heard someone's voice.

"Hey, Mia!" Both of us turned our heads to the boy. "Hoseok?" Mia said, mentioning his name with a smile on her face. "Hey, Hoseok, this is my roommate, Ella Cruz. She is from the Philippines, and she's also in 4th year of high school," Mia said as she introduced me to him. Hoseok has shiny hair, a black and white T-shirt, and blue pants. Hoseok looks at me and smiles.

"Hello, I'm Hoseok from Senior High School. I'm in 11th year." he said sill smiling at me, Oh God, his smile is so gorgeous, and it feels like it makes your day and night shine even brighter! well, I can't lie; I adore his smile. He is like sunshine!

"Anyways, what are you girls doing?" - Hoseok

"Ah, we are actually buying some groceries. We're about to head back to our dorm when you called us," - Mia said.

"Oh, I see. Since you guys are already here, do you want to hang out? It's fun!" - Hoseok suggested.

"Oh, it is? Then I'll join! How about you, Ella? Are you coming?" - Mia asked.

Hoseok and Mia both looked at me. I was taken aback because no one had ever invited me to have some fun with them. I placed my hand on the back of my neck and said, "I don't know..." Mia noticed that I was hesitant to take up her offer, so she gave me a smile. "Don't worry, if you feel uncomfortable, you can go back to our dorm and sleep early as well," she said. "Oh! I'll go and stay for a bit... Besides, I have never had fun outside with some teens," I replied. "That's great! Come on, follow me!" Hoseok chuckled as he walked away, and we followed.

At the club...

"What the fuck?" I mumbled, seeing a bunch of students at the club. Some of them were drinking, dancing, and the loud music made it difficult to hear each other's voices. "Ah, we're here. Guys, meet my friend Mia Roberts and her roommate Ella Cruz from the Philippines," Hoseok smiled. "Ah, hello! Come sit with us," the boy with black hair and some streaks of red said. Mia and I looked at each other, and I shrugged before we took our seats. Hoseok sat beside me, and Mia sat on my right.

"Umm, hey," I awkwardly said. I took a glance at each one of them; the five boys were smiling at us, except for the man in the corner who was busy texting and drinking. "I'm Jimin. The man who looks like a cat is Yoongi." "Hey!" Yoongi was pissed off by what Jimin said.

But of course, Jimin ignored him. "The boy over there is our maknae, Jungkook, and he doesn't want to lose when it comes to a game."

"That's me!" Jungkook said as he raised his hand, and Jimin chuckled.

"That's Hoseok; I think you met him," Jimin said.

"Yep, we are," Hoseok nodded.

"Our worldwide handsome, Seokjin!" Jimin exclaimed.

"Hi, beautiful," Seokjin winked at Ella.

I laughed awkwardly and bowed a little at him. "That guy over there is Namjoon." The man named Namjoon seems pretty quiet, and he is just typing on his phone. "Hey, ladies!" I heard a familiar voice from the crowd. I looked up to see Taehyung, who is smiling. He looks at me, and his smile is even wider. "Hi there, we meet again," he said, and I chuckled awkwardly. "Umm, yeah, we are," I said as I got myself a drink from the table. "I'm Kim Taehyung. Can I sit here?" he asked Jimin. "Of course, dude, take a seat," Jimin said, moving so Taehyung could sit beside him.

Everything was so weird and awkward; they started to get some drinks and drunk themselves...

4 hours later...

"Ummm... I think I'll take Mia now; we have to get up tomorrow," I said as I stood up and pulled Mia carefully. However, she was struggling to get up because she was now drunk; I didn't drink anything. Everyone in our seat was drunk. "Alright... Be careful..." Taehyung mumbled under his breath, and I bowed my head. Mia kept falling or struggling to walk. I grunted as she felt heavy in my arms, especially when she was about to fall.

"Here, let me help," a deep voice was heard behind me. I turned my head to see Namjoon standing there. He went to the other side and took Mia's arm and wrapped it around his shoulder. "It will be hard to carry her all the way to your dorm," he said. I was speechless to see him talk; I really thought he was a silent guy... "Ah... Thanks," I said awkwardly.

After halfway to tower 7, we were already inside the building. The whole walk was silent; Namjoon didn't say anything. "Which floor is your room?" he asked suddenly when we got to the elevator. "7th..." I replied, and he pressed the button. We waited patiently until we reached the 7th floor. Namjoon and I dragged Mia out of the elevator until we reached our dorm. "Here it is. Ummm, please open the door for us." I took my card and gave it to Namjoon, and he took it from me as he placed it on the passcode.

"Welcome back, Mia and Ella!" the passcode said cheerfully and unlocked the door. Namjoon gave back my card as he opened the door for me so I could go inside.

I threw Mia on the couch. I turned around to see Namjoon still standing at the door. I went to him and put on a small smile. "Thank you for your help." Namjoon just looked at me and hummed, "Goodnight. Make sure not to be late on your first day of school," he said before leaving. I closed the door and locked it. I turned my head to see Mia sleeping with her mouth open.

Next morning...

Mia had already headed out first since their class was early. I went to get my stuff ready and put on my uniform. I was about to eat my breakfast when my phone rang. "Who could it be?" I looked at the caller ID, and it was Mel. I smiled and answered the call. "Hi, Mel," I said, and I could hear her sigh through the phone. "You won't believe what just happened," she said as she sighed again.

"Why? What happened?" - Ella

"I got bitten by a woman. Mr. Kang told me to stay in this place called quarantine. They said the results will be in two weeks, so I'm staying here for two fucking weeks..!" - Mel

"What?" - Ella

Meanwhile at the Laboratory room...

"Yah! Jeong Ri, wake up in there. This is not the place for sleep!" A junior high school student scolded their friend for sleeping while they were in the middle of cleaning. He tried to shake him awake, but he didn't budge. "Aish, just leave him there! Let's go!" said one of the juniors. Jeong Ri's friend scratched his head as he looked at him and sighed before he left with the other junior students. As the boy was peacefully sleeping...

There was a loud noise from the lab that made him wake up. He opened his eyes gently and then stretched his arms while yawning. He was still a bit sleepy until he noticed he was alone. "Aish, those jerks left me here; they didn't even bother to wake me up," the boy said to himself as he sighed afterward. He stood up, put the chair under the table, and was about to get out when he heard a bang in the lab. He was confused about what it was, so he went inside.

When he opened it, no one was inside. "Hays, I guess that was just my imagination," he scratched his head and was about to turn around when he heard another bang. He looked closely and heard the sound coming from the storage room. "Is someone there?" he asked, but there was no answer. Instead, it kept banging until he heard a faint voice. He went closer and closer; the more he approached the door, the more he heard the faint voice without knowing what was truly inside. He grabbed the doorknob and gently opened it. "No! Stop!" The boy looked behind him and saw a man with wide eyes. "Mr. Kang? What—" his words were cut off.

When the door opens violently and someone jumps on him, making him fall to the ground, without warning, a female student bites him on his neck. "AGRHHHHHH!!!!" he shouts in pain as he tries to push her away; however, it seems she doesn't budge at all. The man immediately runs and grabs the girl, who is growling loudly and trying to escape his grip. The man grunts as he struggles to push her away.

But the girl seems stronger than he is as she pushes him and tries to bite his neck. Before she can do that, the man grabs a pair of scissors that are near the table and stabs her in the neck and then in the head. He pants heavily and looks at the boy, who is backing away until he hits the wall. The boy looks at him in fear as he holds his neck; blood is coming out, and his white uniform is covered in it. He is breathing hard, and his body is trembling at what he has witnessed. "Mr... Mr... Kang...?" the boy calls to him.

"Hey, do you know what happened to Mr. Kang?" - Mia

"I don't know, why?" - Ella

"Well, he has been acting weird these days. He keeps talking to himself. Every day, since I'm near the window, I saw him dragging something like a bag or sack, and it seemed heavy to me. And during his lecture, he smells so bad!" - Mia

"But... I wonder where he went." - Ella

"No one knows, but that teacher is creeping me out. It's better if you stay out of it and stay away from him, especially since you're new here." - Mia

"Sir... Please don't!" The boy was begging Eun-bin, the science teacher, not to tie him up. "I'm sorry, young boy, but I had to do it. For their safety," Mr. Kang said expressionlessly. But I just wondered, why would he hide something that could be dangerous? Who is he? The answer... was not yet found...

Chapter 3: Dead Bodies

"Alright class, can anyone tell me the difference between 'your' and 'you're'?" the teacher asked, and one of my classmates raised their hand, and the teacher chose them. I sighed as I thought about the embarrassing moment...

That day...

I was running through the halls of the dorm and pressed the elevator button. "Ugh, I can't believe I'm late for my first day of class!" I exclaimed as I stomped my feet on the ground, anxiously waiting for the elevator to open.

*ding*

Once the elevator opened, I immediately got in and closed it. "Please make it faster!" I reached the ground floor and ran immediately to get to the school building on time. "God! Why am I so unlucky??!!" I shouted as I ran even faster. "Good morning, Mr. Park!" I greeted as he bowed and smiled at me before the gate opened. "Hurry up, kid!" I heard Mr. Park shout as I ran. Because I was running hurriedly, I didn't see or know where I was going. I ran until I reached the building, went to the escalator, and finally reached the classroom.

"Sorry I'm late!" I shouted as I panted heavily. The teacher stopped her discussion as she looked at me. "Hello, dear, you seem to be in a hurry," she said as she looked me up and down. "Ah... Yes..." I panted once again from my running. I noticed that something was not right; the students looked at me weirdly, their uniforms were way more different, and I looked down at myself. Yeah, my uniform was different. "Alright, dear, please come inside."

I went inside to her side. "Hello everyone, we have a new student for today. Dear, please introduce yourself," the teacher smiled at me as she said it. "Hello everyone, I'm Ella Cruz. I'm from the Philippines. I hope we get along." As soon as I introduced myself, the students looked at each other. "She's good at speaking Korean," said one of the students.

I usually don't get used to someone talking about me. I just really hope that I'll get along with them, or I really hope they don't try anything with me. "Alright Ella, go sit next to... Namjoon." Huh? Namjoon?? I looked around and saw him at the window. We were staring at each other, so wait... Hold on... DID I GET TO THE WRONG CLASSROOM?!!! I felt embarrassed the moment I noticed it. "Dear, please take a seat." God, I wanted to tell her that I'm in the wrong class! But no words were coming out of my mouth.

So I don't have a choice but to sit next to Namjoon. "You do realize that you're in the wrong room and building, right?" Namjoon leans a little and whispers to me, "Yeah... I know..." I said, feeling embarrassed.

Back to Present Time...

I shake my head just to forget the embarrassing moments. I sigh and look to the window. "Huh?" a word comes out of my mouth when I see something. There's a man pulling something heavy and dragging it to the forest. I blink and rub my eyes. Did I just hallucinate? The man who was pulling a heavy object inside the black bag... is it a human? "It happens," I flinch when I hear a voice. "Wh-what...?" I whisper. "Who are you?" I ask as I turn my head a little bit and see a young boy sitting behind me who was the one who spoke.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, but anyway, I'm Sungwoon, and that man you just saw earlier is Mr. Kang Eun-bin, the Junior and Senior High School Science teacher. He always drags something heavy, and we have no idea what's inside the bag." I look at the teacher and lean back in my seat; I can feel the sweat on my forehead as I listen. "Inside the bag is a shape like a human, but we're still not sure if that really is a human or not," he continues. "Are you saying he keeps doing that? And also... It's not the first time he has done that?" I asked, and Sunghoon nods. Then he looks out the window and says.

"Yeah, it is not the first time we saw him doing that and acting so weird. It all started three years ago when his son suddenly went missing, and the police still haven't found him." I turned my head to the window as Sunghoon continued, "And everything changed. He started to act weird; he keeps talking to himself and mumbling as well, which none of us can understand."

Thinking about it makes it hard for me to go to sleep..."That sounds scary..." I managed to let out some words and avoid shattering. I looked away from the window and looked down. "Yeah, that's why every junior and senior student is afraid of him every time he has a lecture for junior and senior students."

All students shut their mouths during his lecture because of his weird act. "I hold my arms tightly." "Well... thanks for telling me," I said, trying to focus on the English teacher. "Alright class, that's all for today. Please do your assignments and pass them in tomorrow. Goodbye, class," the teacher said before leaving the classroom.

"Hey, I think you're Ella, right?" Oh, that's right; I already introduced myself here, so I don't need to worry. I looked up and saw a girl who was smiling at me.

"Yeah..." I replied. "Hey, I'm Park Rona. I became a new student two months ago. We can be friends, well, if you want." I was surprised when she mentioned "friend." I mean, it's not the first time I have a friend; I have a best friend from the Philippines. Am I dreaming? I'm having a FRIEND for the first time at school??? A new friend??? Well... it's not bad if I try. Yeah, sure," I replied with a smile on my face. "Maybe we can eat together at lunch later." Rona gasped and smiled widely at me. "Yeah, sure!" she said cheerfully.

"Attention to all students and teachers: an announcement has been made that a mysterious virus is spreading, Mr. Smith who is professor from Philippines has talked about the recent virus news." everyone stop to what they doing and look up to the speaker with interest, others who something to do listen without looking at the speaker.

Professor from the Philippines... is it Mr. Smith??? "They told us that the virus is deadly and very dangerous, so we need everyone to be careful in this matter and please stay safe because we still don't know where this new virus comes from. That's all, and thank you," the doctor finished, and the female voice took over. "Thank you, doc, and that's all, everyone. Please stay safe." After that, the speaker turned off. "Virus? I wonder where it comes from," I asked, pretending not to know what it was. "I don't know where it comes from, but whatever it is, we need to be careful." I looked down, thinking about what happened back in the Philippines. I remembered what Mel said to me earlier.

"I got a bite from a woman. Mr. Kang told me to stay in this place called quarantine. They said the result will be in two weeks, so I'm staying here for two weeks! It's really scary; it's like she was a zombie from the movies I saw. My wound on my hand is healing, so I don't think it's infected by the Z-virus."

I can't stop thinking what Mel said, could it be real? The door from our classroom opens and everyone got back to their seat.

.....

.....

*girl sobbing*

Who's crying? I hear a girl's sob from the darkness, but no one was there except me standing alone here. "Ella... Ella... What happened to me?" That voice? Is that Rona? "Ella... Am I turning into a monster? No... I don't want to; I don't want to hurt you..." I look around and then see Rona; her hair is messy, and her wrist is bleeding. "Ella... Ella..." Rona looks at me with her teary eyes. "What happened to you?" I ask, but Rona doesn't answer; she just keeps sobbing. I was about to walk to her when someone calls me.

"Ella..." I stop in my tracks. "Ella!" A faint voice keeps calling my name...

"Ms. Cruz!" I jolted and looked up to see an angry woman in front of me. "Ummm... Good morning?" "First day of school, and yet you fell asleep during my lecture!" I look down in embarrassment; I can't believe I'm being scolded on my first day here. "The next time I catch you sleeping in my class, you will go to the principal's office. Do you understand?" "Yes, ma'am!" I replied before the bell rang.

At Cafeteria

"Hey, are you alright? I saw Mrs. Cheon yell at you." Rona placed her food on the table, and I took my seat next to her. "Yeah, I am. It's my own fault that my history teacher scolded me for that," I said as I started to dig into my food. "Oh, that reminds me. My roommates told me about Mr. Kang." Once I said the name, Rona stopped eating and looked at me with wide eyes. "What...?" I dragged the tray to the other side and leaned in a little bit. "You were here before me, and I'm sure you know about him. Can you tell me about it?" I asked her in a whisper, and Rona placed her chopsticks on her food and looked around.

"I'll tell you about him since you're also new here. Everyone here is afraid of him in school. Some students say that they saw him in the middle of the night; they also witnessed Mr. Kang dragging something. They say it's a dead body, but others say it was just nothing but trash." Rona explained. It's exactly what Mia and Jungwoon told me...

This Mr. Kang is mysterious...."Where does he spend most of his time?" I asked as I sat properly and dragged my food back in front of me. "Well, mostly we saw him in the laboratory," Rona replied. "But if you are planning to go there while he's alone, then don't. You will be in danger if you do that. No one knows what will happen to you if you go there alone with him," Rona added.

"Why? What's wrong with that?" I asked again as I put the meat in my mouth and chewed it. "Well, in the past few days, Min Yuri, a grade 12 student, was missing for 4 days, and yet no one knows where she went. Her friends said that the last time they saw her was in the laboratory," Rona said as she ate her food while explaining.

In Laboratory room

I gently opened the door of the laboratory after eating lunch with Rona. I went inside and looked around. No one seemed to be here, and it was quite too quiet. I closed the door behind me; my footsteps echoed around the room, and it gave me chills down my spine. "God, it gives me horror vibes," I said to myself. As I was about to leave, a sudden sound made me yelp and flinch.

"What was that?" I looked around, but no one was there but me alone. My eyes caught something; I went to the third-row table and saw a handkerchief under it. I leaned down to get the handkerchief and looked at it when, all of a sudden, a loud noise and faint voice were heard on the other side of the door.

I turned my head and walked slowly to the door. I was about to open it when a hand grabbed my wrist. I gasped and turned my head to see a pale man giving me a death glare. "What are you doing?" he asked as he gripped my wrist tightly, and I winced in pain. "I'm so... sorry, I heard some noise coming from this room... so I thought I would go and check it," I explained as he looked at me deeply before letting go of my wrist. I took my wrist away and rubbed it.

"Get out of here and don't say a word about what you hear or see, do you understand?" he said in a dark tone. "Y-yes, sir," I replied with a nod as he gave me a signal to get out.

I immediately ran past him and went outside. I closed the door shut and breathed heavily. What the fuck was that??? Was that Mr. Kang???? I sighed deeply as I slid down to the wall and crouched on the floor. "Ella?" I yelped at the sudden call, looking up to see Rona, who was startled. "Oh, it's you," I sighed in relief. "What are you doing here besides the laboratory?" Rona asked. I was about to answer, but I remembered what the man told me.

I felt like my words were stuck in my throat. I looked down, avoiding her gaze, but after a few seconds, I looked up with a fake smile on my face. "It's nothing, I'm just kind of sitting down for a bit, you know, chilling while waiting for the afternoon class," I said with a chuckle, and Rona smiled at me. "Hey, why don't we go around the school campus? It's still early, plus we have time to go!" Rona said as she pulled me up and grabbed my hand.

Outside the campus...

And yep, it's been 30 minutes since we've been walking around until we ended up here at the back of the school campus. Well, how did we get here? It's because we saw an abandoned gate at the back of the building. Rona decided to go there because she thought it could be fun, but I couldn't leave her alone, so I came along. But who would have thought that she'd be so talkative? "So, you met Taehyung and he guided you?!!!! My god, girl, you're so lucky! Taehyung is the most famous here, together with his hyungs! And guess what, every school girl wants to be with him, but you! Woah! So lucky!" Rona squirmed and squeezed her hands together.

"So, how does he smell??? How does he look???" I was startled by her words. "Smell?? Seriously??? Do I need to smell him, or do they want to smell him? Do they smell him every day whenever he's around?"

"Rona, I don't smell him. What does he look like? He looks the same as usual; you guys see him," I said, making her disappointed. But then she grinned and asked, "Question, do you like him like the other fab girls?~"

I stopped and looked at her with an "are you serious?" face. I was about to speak when we heard footsteps coming. "Who's that?" I asked, looking around. I heard Rona gasp. "Is someone here?" Rona started to panic, and I shook my head. "I don't know... Let's hide."

I said before pulling Rona's hand and saw a big tree, where both of us hid and quietly watched. That's when I saw a man I recognized from the laboratory. "Mr. Kang?" Rona suddenly whispered his surname, and I looked at her. "That's Mr. Kang?" Rona nodded her head as we continued watching what he was doing. Mr. Kang was dragging something with his hand, and it was the black bag I had seen this morning from the window.

Mr. Kang opens the bag, and inside the bag almost made us scream. Rona was about to scream, but I covered her mouth. "Shhh," I said. We hugged each other at the sight of what we saw. Inside the bag was a dead male body. "I failed again..." he said under his breath. Mr. Kang threw the body into the big hole. "We have to get out of here..." I whispered to her. I made Rona stand up when all of a sudden, Rona yelped when she accidentally stepped on a leaf. I turned my head immediately and saw Mr. Kang notice the sound and come towards where we were. I immediately pulled Rona, who was covering her mouth with tears in her eyes.

I pulled her to run, and both of us looked back to see Mr. Kang. "Run!" I said, and Rona went to the gate first, then me. We ran so fast that we made it to the senior building that is near the abandoned gate. The senior students noticed that we were running in the hallways. "Wait, is that...?" one of the seniors noticed us. "HEY, THE JUNIORS! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE?!" one of them yelled, and we kept running until someone grabbed us. "Hey! No running in the hallways!" Rona and I were panting and gasping for air; sweat was on our foreheads. "This building is not a playground!" one of them yelled. "Ella?" I looked up to see Hoseok stopping me from running. Our eyes were locked until I heard Rona sobbing and yelling, "IT'S MR. KANG...!!!!" Rona was sobbing so much that she fainted and landed on Yoongi's chest. "Hey!"

Everyone was gathering around us. Hoseok and I still looked at each other until I felt my tears on my cheek. I started to sob as I hugged Hoseok tightly. "Woah, hey, what's wrong?" he said as he rubbed my back. "T-thank God... we're... alive..." I cried. Hoseok and Yoongi didn't understand what had just happened; they shrugged. I felt Hoseok hug me back as he kept rubbing my back to comfort me. "What's going on here?" Everyone started to get out of the way. I took a sneak peek and saw Namjoon with Seokjin in the hallways.

"It's the President and Vice President!" the girl exclaimed. "President Namjoon!" So he's the president here in Senior High. I looked away and just buried my face deeply in Hoseok's chest.

"These two are from Juniors; they are running in the hallways. Hoseok and Yoongi stop them; one of them fainted, and the other is with Hoseok. I can feel that Namjoon is looking straight at me. "Wait, Ella?" I heard Seokjin call, and I pull away from Hoseok. "You do realize that there's a punishment for running in the hallways and coming here without a pass," Namjoon said coldly. I calm myself and give him my brave face. "We don't have a choice; we have to," I said, and he looked at me and then said, "You and your friend will be explaining that to the principal's office," he said before turning his back to me. I clenched my hands tightly, giving him my burning death glare.

And just like what Namjoon said, we got scolded by the principal. As punishment, she told us to clean the whole building and expelled us for 1 week.

2 weeks later....

After the incident two weeks ago, Rona and I have been silent. We never talked to anyone to answer their questions; sometimes, when they asked difficult ones, we just ignored them. Rona and I avoided each other, not knowing what to do about whether we should tell Ms. Park about what we saw two weeks ago. We were both scared of what would happen to us if we told anyone. Not until this happened...

Mr. Kang, our science teacher, came in, and Rona and I felt a chill down our spines. I could see her eyes avoiding Mr. Kang, and her body was shaking. On the other hand, I was the same; I avoided his gaze, my forehead was wet with sweat, and my face looked pale. "You two girls look pale; are you guys alright?" Mr. Kang asked, and our classmates looked at us. Rona didn't answer him out of fear. "We... I..." I stuttered, trying to say something in complete words.

"They're not feeling well, Mr. Kang," a familiar voice said. I looked at the person, and it was Taehyung. He looked at Mr. Kang with a serious face. Mr. Kang looked at him, and Taehyung took his seat. After a few seconds of silence, he nodded his head. "Alright, let's start our lessons for today."

Mr. Kang told us to take our books and open them to page 90. We took our books and opened them to page 90. Rona looked at me; our eyes were locked. After a second, she looked away when Mr. Kang started to talk. "Alright, today we will learn about force and gravity." Mr. Kang turned around to look at the whiteboard as he started to write something. A few seconds later, a horrible smell hit my nose, and I covered it. I looked around and saw my classmates doing the same. Others were almost throwing up. Rona suddenly got up and ran away. Mr. Kang stopped what he was doing and looked at the empty door.

"I'll... excuse myself, Mr. Kang. I'll just... f-follow her," I said as Mr. Kang looked at me and gave me a signal to go. I followed where Rona was and saw her in the female restroom. I heard her vomiting in the sink as the faucet was running with water. "Rona...?" My voice echoed in the restroom, and Rona looked at me with her teary eyes. "I can't... I just can't...!" said Rona through her cries. "Can't what...?" I asked as I went to her and rubbed her back. "I can't... How long are we going to keep this, Ella? Every night I dream about what we saw two weeks ago...! Every night... same nightmares...!" she said as she held her head and shook it. I looked at her and realized we're just the same...

I also have a nightmare every time I sleep at night. How long am I going to keep it...? I don't know... I don't even know what to do now... I snapped back to reality when I heard Rona vomiting again, and I was there to comfort her.

After a few minutes of Rona vomiting in the restroom, we headed back to the laboratory. Once we got inside, the smell was still the same and horrible, so Rona and I immediately covered our noses. Mr. Kang turned around to see us. "You're back; is something the matter?" he started to ask, and we nodded our heads before returning to our seats. We held on to the horrible smell in our noses as Mr. Kang started to write on the whiteboard, but then I noticed that he wrote something that was out of the topic we were discussing, and I heard him mumble some words. "This isn't right; it's supposed to be it... But why?" I looked around, and my classmates seemed to notice his behavior.

The door was suddenly opened, revealing the panting Ms. Park. "I'm sorry to disturb your class, Mr. Kang. But-" Ms. Park covers her nose when she smells something isn't right. "What is that smell?" Mr. Kang puts the marker on his table as he looks at her. "Anyways, I came here to ask... Has anyone here seen Kristel and Jeong Ri? The two of them have been missing these past few days. Has anyone of you seen them last?" Ms. Park asks as she looks around. My classmates whisper to themselves. I clench my paper notebook and look at Rona, who was hesitant.

"We're sorry, Ms. Park, but we don't know where they are," Taehyung, who was behind me, spoke up. I managed to steal a glance at Mr. Kang; his face was filled with fear of getting caught. "I see. Just call or tell me if you see or find them," said Ms. Park before leaving the laboratory. I lost the chance to tell Ms. Park the truth. I sigh in frustration and grip my hair tightly.

Author's POV

That night, Jungkook and Taehyung were walking in the middle of the night; they were walking behind the school building. "Why are we here, hyung?" Jungkook asked. "I found something," Taehyung said when, out of the blue, they heard some female voices in the forest. "Just do it, will ya!" the female junior said, and the other girl was trembling in fear. "Do we really need to? I mean, what if Mr. Kang is here?" the scared girl asked. "Oh please, no one is here. If you shut your mouth, no one will know," the other girl said.

"What if all of you will be caught by me? What will you do?" The girls turn around and saw Taehyung with Jungkook "it's the Junior president!" The girl exclaim "What the he are you guys doing here at middle of the night?" Taehyung, the Junior president ask as he cross his arms to his Chest. "We... We just want to explore" the other girl explain and Taehyung sighs, he was about to day something when a sudden voice was heard "Taehyung?" They all look around and saw Ella with a flashlight and in over hand was her roommate Mia.

"What are you guys all doing here?" Mia asked, raising her eyebrow. "Don't worry, I'll handle this," Taehyung said. "What are you guys doing here as well?" Mia and Ella looked at each other. "I actually dropped something here. I told Mia I could go alone, but... she wants to go with me, so I let her," Ella explained. Taehyung looked at both of them and furrowed his brow. "You guys should not be here; it's dangerous," Taehyung said in a serious tone. Just then, we heard a voice: "Ahhhh!" A junior high school student shouted, and we looked at her; she was on the floor, backing away.

"Geez, Sungkim, what's wrong with you?!" one of the girls said. Sungkim was speechless, scared, and trembling. Mia, Ella, and one of the girls got close. As they got closer, Ella looked at the place where Sungkim was terrified to, and her eyes widened. She gasped as she then heard Mia and the girl scream. Taehyung and Jungkook went behind them and led their flashlight. Both of them were speechless. "W... w-what... What the fuck is this?!" Jungkook panicked. "CALL THE POLICE!!!!" Mia shouted. Jungkook immediately dialed the police number, and after a minute, the police arrived.

The reason why they were yelling, scared, and speechless was that they saw a bunch of dead bodies. The police went to them to ask a question. Ella's body was trembling as she remembered two weeks ago. Her face was pale, and she rubbed her hands together to calm her nerves, but it didn't work. Her eyes glanced at the police who were examining the crime scene; one of the dead bodies seemed to be staring at her, and Ella was even more terrified.
