Revenge and Redemption

Chapter 1 : Betrayal

In the middle of the night, Silvia woke up with a dry mouth and headache.

She had been feeling extra happy tonight.

The perfume she had been working on for a long time, “First Love,” was finally complete, and after she won the prize in tomorrow night’s competition, her marriage to Ladarius would be on the agenda.

From college to now, they had known each other for five years and been in love for three years.

She had left everything behind and devoted herself to perfume research.

She was helping him to make his company bigger and seeing a bright future beckoning her.

She had had a few more drinks than usual that night.

Silvia rubbed her brow and tried to find some water to drink, only to hear strange noises coming from the next room.

She lived alone in this small rented apartment, and Ladarius stayed occasionally, but in the guest room.

When she heard the sound, she was a little worried that he was not feeling well.

But when she got a little closer, she heard a woman’s voice…

“Ladarius, will Silvia hear us like this?”

“Isn’t that what makes it exciting? Baby, don’t worry, I put something in her drink to make sure she will sleep until tomorrow.”

The man’s words were interspersed with ragged gasps, but she could definitely hear that it was Ladarius’ voice.

A chill ran through her heart.she had often lost sleep over the years in order to do research and needed the help of drugs, so she had built up an immunity to sleeping pills.

“Wait until tomorrow’s new product takes the prize. I am a senior perfumer, the status in this circle is stable. When that time comes, there will be investors lining up and we’ll be recruiting as many people as possible. What will we need with Silvia?”

Silvia stood in the doorway and clenched her fist when she recognized Vivienne’s voice.

Her best friend from college was having an affair with her fiancé.

It’s not that she hadn’t heard some whispers, but she just stubbornly chose to trust them. Now,reality gave her a hard slap in the face

“I’m just using, Silvia. I can do everything for you, even put “something” in her recipe for the rookie competition.”

“I forbid you to mention her name. Tell me, do you love me or do you love her?”

Viviennie’s voice was soft and tantalizing

But in silvia’s ears, it was extraordinarily harsh,

She printed her torthand opened her eyes wide, as if she wanted to see through the door panel to see the adulterous couple

“Of courri love you!”

The next sound was so vomit inducing that Silvia’s palm was bleeding from gouging her nails into it asshe could resisted the urge to rush in.

How could she ever have imagined that her wholehearted dedication would be repaidwith such a betrayal?

Three years ago she became famous in a provincial perfumery competition and was offered numerous offers.

She even got offers from big companies like Warin, but for the sake of Ladarius’ fledgling business, she turned them all down and concentrated on helping and supporting it.

Two years ago, when she participated again in a major competition, she had a problem with her perfume and was ridiculed as a “perfumer without a nose”,she couldn’t figure out what went wrong at the time, but Ladarius stayed by her side and was considerate enough to let her go behind the scenes and let Vivienne do all the competitions and public appearances.

She thought they would support each other through thick and thin, but it turned out that she was simply a pawn in someone else’s hand.

When he nained the company V.L., he explained that the perfume was “victory and love”, which means to go against the trend, and she believed it. Turns out, it was simply the initials of Vivienne and Ladarius.

These two skanks betrayed her, but she was still lovestruck. It is really stupid ridiculous!

The anger finally turned into calmness. Silvia lost sleep all night, and only when it was almost dawn i did she hear the sound of the scum and the bitch leaving

She immediately got up and rummaged through her closet, and finally found the hot gold business card.

Three years ago, Simon, the president of Warin, had personally given her a business card, and she didn’t know if the phone number had changed.

Holding the phone tightly, she was a little nervous when the call was answered, “Mr. Simon, this is Silvia.”

After a pause, hearing that he hadn’t hung up on her, she quickly continued,

“We met at the provincial perfume competition three years ago, and you gave me one of your … Cards back then.”

“I remember.”

The low baritone voice, coupled with two simple words, surprisingly eased her tension.

“Here’s the thing. I have a business deal that might interest you.”

After a short silence, Simon said in a low voice, “Come to my office tomorrow morning at nine o’clock to talk about"

Before he could hang up. Silvia hurriedly replied, “Wait a minute …. Mr. Simon, tomorrow may be too late. Can it be today? Also, the office is not very convenient, can we change the place?”

She was in a hurry and spoke quickly, and couldn’t help but sweat for herself when she finished.

Warin was the kind of company that accounted for two-thirds of the entire domestic cosmetics and skincare industry, with a wide range of operations, not to mention a large back-end capital.

And Sinion, as the president of Warin, was simply a lepend in the business world.

It was bold of him to set aside time to see her himself, and it was bold of her to bargain on the time and place.

But there was really no way out

The new product launch and perfume competition was starting tonight, and if we talked about it tomorrow. it would be too late.

And going to the office would easily attract the eyes of others and would affect her plans.

she thought about it and said, “Don’t worry about the company."

There was no sound for three minutes, and just when Silvia thought she was going to be rejected, she heard Simon say, “Okay, meet me in thirty minutes, Garden Road Café.”

“Thanks …”

Before Silvia could complete her thanks, she heard him add, “Remember to bring your driver’s license.”

“Huh?”

His answer was to siinply hang up.

Silvia wondered if her ears had misheard, but time did not allow her to think about it.

She quickly changed clothes, cleaned herself up and went out.

It was a good thing that the garden path was not very far and she arrived on time. She was just about to enter the cafe when she was stopped.

“Miss Silvia?”

The person calling her name was one she didn’t recognize. “Hmm?”

“Master asks you to move there.”

He made an inviting gesture and Silvia looked in the direction of a black stretch Lincoln parked quietly at the side of

the road.

She understood at once.

Without hesitation, she walked toward the car and the driver pulled open the door from the outside.

She couldn’t see well from outside the car to the inside, only two long slender legs with clanking leather shoes on their feet were visible.

Silvia got into the car. The cold air in the car made her involuntarily shiver, then she raised her eyes to look at the other party. “Hello Mr. Simon, I …”

“Get to the point.”

Just four words, and extra cold, silvia suddenly stopped and saw his face.

Chapter 2: Marry Me

When dealing with people like this, one really had to be in the right spirit.

Silvia cut to the chase, “I know your company is also participating in this season’s perfume competition tonight, and I have a newly developed perfume in hand that I hope can be added to Warin’s team.”

“Warin has already selected the entry.” Simon said unhurriedly.

This she knew of course, “But the entries are not limited to just one, I just want to add one, not to replace …”

“Why should I trust you?” he interrupted with unparalleled directness.

Silvia moved quickly to open the small bag and pulled out a stack of information from it,

“These are the data of my development of the First Love as well as the formula, which represents my sincerity. As for the quality….”

“Three years ago Mr.Simon had extended an invitation to me, and I believe that he also recognized my ability, and in fact, I have brought a sample today.”

“Sample?”

Speaking up now, he finally had a change in his facial expression and raised his eyebrows, seemingly quite interested.

Silvia nodded her head and suddenly extended her hand towards him.

A light sweet fragrance wafted over with her movements, the smell fragrant but not strong Simon quietly looked at the hand in front of him, white and pure, with well-defined knuckles.

The sweet smell lingers at the end of the nose, tantalizing and softening the heart.

“I am confident that First Love can at least take the top three, which is undoubtedly the icing on the cake for Warin.”

After saying that, she naturally pulled back on her hand, but she didn’t expect to be held by him.

Simon’s grip on her wrist was just right, she couldn’t break free, but she didn’t feel any discomfort or pain.

“Do you think Warin cares about the icing on the cake?”

“It’s just a gift, if Mr. Simon doesn’t think it’s enough, how about Warin gets the rights to all the perfumes I make for the next two years?”

She had thought about it, Simon would definitely not be that quick to agree, but as long as there was still room to talk, there was room to maneuver.

She couldn’t find a more suitable partner other than him because of the times constraint.

“Not enough indeed.”

Releasing his hand to set her free, a faint aftertaste still lingered on the end of his fingers.

Simon lowered his eyes, hiding the essence in his eyes, “Unless … add you.”

“Me?!” Silvia didn’t understand what it meant.

“Did you bring everything you were told to bring?” He suddenly asked.

“Yes, I did.”

Although she didn’t understand what he was going to do, she took everything with her before she left the house.

“Marry me, and your trouble, I’ll help you solve it.”

At this moment Silvia’s jaw almost fell to the ground.

Holy cow! What did he say? Marry? With him?

She realized that the car was parked across the street from the City Hall, and he had arranged the place here, and asked her to bring those things, to get a license? Is he serious?

“If it’s no, you can go now.”

The door of the car opened casually, indicating that she quickly had to make a choice.

Fearing being thrown out of the car, she pressed the door handle and said sharply, “I didn’t say no.”

“Then it’s a yes.”

With his lips curled up, Simon got up, “Let’s go and get the paperwork done. I have a meeting at..."

Silvia: “…”

And he was in a hurry?

Her hands gripped the car door, her eyes locked on the man in front of her, breathing slightly sharply. “May I ask, why?”

Why her? Why so suddenly?

“Aren’t we talking business? You need someone to help with the whole V.L. problem. I need a wife.Fair enough I think"

His tone was relaxed and he seemed to sound extremely natural, except for the playfulness in his gaze that seemed to Silvia more than a little familiar, but she couldn’t recall.

There would be no future with that scum Ladarius, and marrying Simon, no matter what, with his status and position, no matter what he wanted, would not be a loss for her.

Silvia’s gaze became firm, “Deal!”

What she wanted was nothing more than fair.

The procedure was not complicated, both of their documents were complete, quickly done.

Out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Simon carefully put away the two papers, put on sunglasses, hiding the smile at the corner of his eyes, Silvia jogged two steps to catch up with him, panting, “Mr. Simon, our deal…”

Stopping abruptly, Simon turned his head.

Even through the sunglasses, she could feel the plummeting temperature, and her grip on his shirt loosened subconsciously.

“From today on, you should get used to your new identity, Mrs. Palmer.”

Wrapping his arms around her waist, his breath was close at hand.

Silvia was lost in thought for a moment.

“Give Freddie the information and samples of the perfume and he’ll arrange it.”

Releasing his hand, he reentered the car, Silvia followed closely but did not get in.

“DEAR, what else is wrong?”

Turning his head to look at her, the phone Simon held in his hand buzzed, waiting for him to press the answer button

“Honey… about our marriage, can we keep it to ourselves for now?” Her cheeks flushed, but afraid of delaying him, she spoke quickly, “I still have some personal matters, I will take care of it soon.”

Through the sunglasses, she couldn’t see Simon’s eyes and couldn’t distinguish joy or anger from his expression

“Meet me at Warin by 5:00 pm.”

After saying that, he pressed the phone to answer and put it to his ear, “It’s me.”

Silvia nodded, closed the car door for him, watched the car leave, but could not breathe a sigh of relief. She still had a hard battle to fight.

She went to eat and buy a new set of clothes before driving unhurriedly to V.L. During this time. Ladarius called her dozens of times, but she didn’t answer.

When the car was parked, Ladarius’ secretary, Jackson, greeted her with an anxious face,

“Miss Silvia, you are finally here. Mr. Ladarius has been looking for you like crazy.”

Yes, she had worked hard for Ladarius for three years, but her position was only a technician.

Silvia walked steadily towards the office and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing really, it’s just urgent.” Jackson shook his head.

In fact, in the company, except for Ladarius and Vivienne, and her closest assistant, no one knew that the perfume that made V.L’s sales record high came from her hand.

Everyone thought that Vivienne was the mainstay of the company and the backbone of V.L.

Silvia had never cared about the name before.

Silvia never cared about these false names before, and now … cares even less.

As she walked to the door of the president’s office, She heard Ladarius’ growling voice,

“You’re with her every day, and you’re telling me you don’t know where she’s gone?I’m telling you, Winnie, don’t rely on Silvia to back you up, believe it or not I’ll fire you tomorrow!”

The next thing she knew, there was an earth-shattering hang-up call, and Silvia knitted her brows.

Ladarius couldn’t find her, so he was taking it out on her assistant Winnie.

Jackson reached out and knocked on the door, then pushed the door in. He was very sensible not to go in, and closed the door from the outside.

“Bomb!” A cup smashed directly in front of her feet, the broken porcelain even brushed the surface of her feet. Ladarius was furious. “All morning, where have you been!”

Chapter 3: How disgusting

Silvia looked down at the top of her feet and looked up calmly, “What’s wrong?”

“Where’s the information on the First Love? The lab has searched all over for it. Do you know what day it is today? You should stay in the lab properly. What are you always outside for?”

Following her line of sight, Ladarius also saw a tiny cut on the top of her foot and felt a moment of weakness, but quickly thought about the more important thing – about the competition tonight.

“Isn’t the new product presentation and competition in the evening? I thought there was still time, so I went to buy a dress to get ready.”

Before Ladarius could say anything, Vivienne laughed, “What are you still planning to attend?”

“I can’t?” She asked rhetorically, turning her eyes to her former friend.

Vivienne’s smile deepened, “It’s not that you can’t. I’m just worried you’ll have a hard time. And haven’t you always stayed away from these kinds of events in the past?”

“Yeah, you never liked this fame and fortune chasing places. Just stay home and wait for our good news! Where’s the information?”

He was walking towards her.

Ladarius reached out to pat her shoulder, but Silvia deftly side-stepped just enough to avoid it.

Ladarius’s fingers gleamed, and when he saw her pull out a kraft paper bag, his attention was instantly diverted.

“The information is all there, right?”

He took it, probably not quite sure, opened it and carefully examined it, and then handed it to Vivienne.

The action was so natural, and Vivienne took it and casually swept a few eyes, the corners of her lips curved into a satisfied smile.

She was not completely ignorant of perfume, but compared to Silvia, there was a lack of talent.

In addition, after she hooked up with Ladarius, she gave up on her acquired efforts, and over the years, her knowledge was almost forgotten, and she had been sitting on the credit book created by Silvia.

Holding the pile of information, she could almost see the competition trophy beckoning to her.

“Where are the samples?” Vivienne asked after her.

“Come pick them up from the lab before you leave.”

Silvia saw that the two were extremely excited to exchange glances right in front of her and her stomach turned nauseous, “Ladarius, is it true that I can’t attend the event tonight?

Ladarius froze and his eyebrows immediately furrowed,

“Silvia, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t I say that it’s all for your own good? Have you forgotten the rookie competition two years ago, you …”

“Of course, I’m not saying that it will definitely fail, but, think about everything. There is always an eventuality, in case something goes wrong, that…”

The latter word was cut, which looked as if they really were thinking about her.

If she hadn’t heard and seen them last night with her own eyes, Silvia would have been almost moved to tears by the two of them.

Every word was for her, how considerate, how kind, how… disgusting!

“Well, since that’s the case, then I can only wish you guys have a wonderful night!”

After saying that she turned around, “I’ll go back to the lab first.”

Ladarius was busy nodding his head, “Yes, you hurry up and get the samples ready, make sure nothing goes wrong, understand?”

Silvia smiled coldly, of course she would, not a single thing would go wrong.

On the way she called Winnie. The voice on the other side was concerned, “Silvia, are you okay? By the way, Mr. Ladarius has been looking for you for most of the day.”

“I know.” Silvia focused on looking at the road while saying, “Winnie, are the things I asked you to prepare ready?”

“Ready, but … First Love has been debugged many times, are you sure you want to add a flavor to it at this time?” Winnie asked with some concern.

By her side for so long as an assistant, of Silvia’s ability and appreciation level, she had no doubt.

But the First Love perfume had been in trials for months, with great celebrations when Silvia was also satisfied, so looking at the competition tonight, why tweak it now?

“Do you believe in me?”

“What are you talking about? I believe in you, of course, I believe in you! But are you really still not going to enter the race yourself?”

Knowing that the answer was no, Winnie still couldn’t help but ask one more question.

A assistant, she knew how much effort and energy it took to debug each new perfume, and Silvia had obviously perfected several best-selling perfumes, yet no one knew it was her.

The halo and the glory were all claimed by that Vivienne, and it’s a shame to think about it.

Silvia smiled, Winnie was looking out for her, she knew that.

“What’s mine will be mine.” She said meaningfully, “Winnie, they will pick up the samples later, you just take care of what I’ve explained.”

“I’ll do it, don’t worry!”

After hanging up the phone, she turned a corner and went straight into Warin’s underground parking lot.

Warin’s company was large and covered an even larger area, the whole building was owned by Warin, and even the underground parking lot was appallingly large.

Fortunately, Simon was prepared and she followed the navigation to drive to the well-located parking space, where Freddie was already waiting

“Miss Silvia please follow me.”

Going up the exclusive straight staircase, Freddie spoke quickly and told her the current situation.

“The information and samples have been given to the project department, and this perfume will be entered tonight, along with Warin’s other two.”

“Thanks.” Silvia nodded her head.

It was already very generous of Simon to make this happen.

Take V. L as an example. From the selection of the theme to the final plan, it was prepared and set three months before the competition started.

Now, a last minute addition, regardless of whether it will be topped by others, still is a risk that must also be properly evaluated.

Freddie said a few words about it, but she guessed that Warin’s people might not be so easily accepting, and were afraid to use some power to press down.

Tonight, she had to win this game, and she had to win beautifully!

Silvia entered and saw Simon sitting behind a wide desk with a thick pile of papers in his left and right hands.

Perhaps he heard the movement. He looked up, and for a moment Silvia was a little nervous.

“Come here.” He put down his pen.

Silvia walked over to him, he looked up and down, his eyes narrowed, “Are you hurt?”

Once he reminded her, Silvia remembered that the surface of her foot was cut by broken porcelain,

She was about to say that it was okay, when her body suddenly lightened, and he was already picking her up.
