Love, it is something we all crave, but most of us don't understand how it works. Of course, that scene of open affection would touch anyone's heart but it was breaking mine. How could I let this happen to me? I thought to myself as I looked through the glass window of the cafe I worked at. Because the 'Boy' was supposed to be my boyfriend, Dong Sheng Li and that 'Girl' was my older sister, Lang Xuefang. Before I noticed it myself, I was already walking out of the cafe towards them.
"How could you do this to me?," I yelled. Jumping in surprise, they turned towards me.
"Oh, Lang Mina, it's you, what's up," said Dong Sheng Li.
"What's up? Really? Why are you holding hands with my sister," I said?
Dong Sheng Li replied, "Oh this, it's nothing. Why are you being so jealous?"
I couldn't believe him just now. Jealous of course I’d be jealous, anyone would be if they saw they could be replaced so easily. Then it hit me, this wasn't his first mistake. Every time we went out he always looked at other girls and every time I confronted him, he would say the same thing. Yeah, I was feeling something but it wasn’t jealousy.
"Jealous…, "I chuckled to myself.
"Why would I be jealous of a man wh**e, like you?," I told him. I was fueled with anger.
With a forced smile upon my face, I turned to my sister who looked quite shameless, "and you, I could expect this from him, but you're supposed to be my sister.”
At that moment I could feel a pain in my chest. Lang Xuefang just looked at me and laughed, "hahaha. What can I say? Of course, he would want me instead of someone childish like you.”
It didn’t seem like Xuefang was sorry at all.
“A word of advice little sis, you should learn to grow up."
Before I could even react, she had poured her coffee all over. At that moment I was feeling completely humiliated, as everyone had started gathering around outside watching and taking out their cameras. How could she embarrass me like this? Was I not as close to her as I thought. Maybe she was right. I held back the tears forming in my eyes as I tried to escape from the scene as fast as possible. With my blurred vision, I had bumped into someone, without noticing them.
Ouch!! I looked up to find a handsome man with golden brown eyes looking at me. By the looks of it, he was clearly wearing an expensive suit, which was now covered with coffee marks.
"I'm sorry for ruining your clothes," I apologized immediately.
"Hmph. Can't you pay attention to where you are walking?!" said the man.
"I've already apologized, I'll pay for your dry cleaning," I said, starting to get annoyed at his complaining.
"And what, allow you to take my clothes to one of those shabby cleaners? When you are clearly in need of a trip there," he said.
"Then what would you like me to do?" I said.
He snickered to himself, "oh I see where this is going. It's not me who needs anything from you but the other way around right?"
“I don’t really understand what you mean, I’m just trying to make amends with you,” I replied.
“Sure miss but do you expect me to be foolish enough to believe in a lie of a wicked woman such as yourself. Since you’ve planned this so accurately I must ask you this.”
Coming closer to me he whispered to me, "what is it exactly that you expect to gain from me? Wealth? Love? Maybe if you’d begged a bit, I let you be my exclusive servant."
"Huh," I exclaimed. How dare he, I am no lowly woman.
Pushing him back, "I don't even know you, and why would someone go out of their way to meet an obnoxious narcissist like you." Waiting for no other response from him, I stormed off. I only wanted to apologize, why were people being so difficult today.

Walking home in soaked clothes and feeling degraded was not even the worst of it, it was the fact that I had to go back to the apartment that I had shared with Dong Sheng Li. I thought we were going in the right direction. He promised me that we would always be together. I knew it was naive of me to believe it but still, I trusted him. Plus my flesh and blood sister, huh. Maybe I was just too nice. Lang Xuefang was a straight-A student and great at sports. So anything I did was compared with her, with me always coming in second place. She was usually in the social spotlight and boys always fawned over her. I remember girls would become my friends just to talk to her or the boys who pester me to put in a good word for them. And of course, I would do all their favors because it felt good to just be noticed for once. No one cares for the second young lady of the Langs. That's why when I met Dong Sheng Li, who claimed to like me more than her, I jumped into his clutches. I just wanted to have something that Lang Xuefang didn’t, guess this is karma for jealousy. Though, he gave me the feeling of being wanted. I even willingly gave up my position in the Lang family for him. In his eyes, I was first place and I loved it.. Or so I thought...
I unlocked the door, immediately going to shower and change my clothes. What was I going to do? I obviously can't stay here anymore, I have to leave. Grabbing my suitcase from outside the closet, I began packing some clothes. I didn't want to go home to face my family in shame, but more importantly, I didn't want to see Lang Xuefang. At the moment she poured the coffee on me, I felt as if I was awakened from a long sleep. I could now see that she wasn't the self-righteous, virtuous girl, I so desperately wanted to be like. She was more like an evil siren luring me into a trap. Did she always hate me? What did I ever do to her?
CLICK. CLICK.
I turned my head to the sound of the front door opening. I had to be Dong Sheng Li. Goodness, how was I going to face him? I hope Lang Xuefang isn't with him. Wait a minute, why should I even feel this way? I wasn't the one who did anything wrong. Just lift your head high, straighten your back, ignore him and walk out the door. Preparing myself, I took my suitcase and purse and walked out of the bedroom. But, as I reached the door, Dong Sheng Li popped up in front of it.
"BOO!!! Did you miss me? I knew you were here sweetie. Were you hiding from me?" Dong Sheng Li said.
Looking up at Dong Sheng Li's face, I could tell it was very flushed, meaning he was probably drunk. What a hypocrite telling me not to drink, I thought to myself.
"No I wasn't hiding, I was packing, and now I'm leaving. So please move out of my way," I replied.
"Leaving, you aren't going anywhere Lang Mina," he chuckled.
“Are you expecting me to stay after what you’ve done?” I said.
Not answering me at all, he began moving toward me. I wanted to stand my ground but before I knew it, I was moving away. Practically running backward. Dong Sheng Li’s eyes were filled with hunger as if he was looking for his prey. That was me with chills running down my spine. I was seeing a face I had never seen him make before. And for once I genuinely wanted to go unnoticed.
