In a distant kingdom, there lies the Big Silver Moon pack. It is located in a place surrounded by tall mountains on the outskirts; there are flowers and plants of different species; the area is filled with houses, some mansions, and the occasional apartment.
This place could easily pass for a normal city; there are cars, buildings in the center of the kingdom, shopping malls, large cinemas; the only difference is the creatures that inhabit it.
Gianna Garza is seventeen years old; since she can remember, she has been rejected by her father; she killed her mother, according to Mr. Mariano Garza, Gianna’s father.
The young woman’s mother was named Giannella and was a Gamma.
Mariano faced everyone for her despite the fact that they did not want her as his wife for being so weak.
The Big Silver Moon pack is one of the most powerful packs; in fact, Alpha Jackson is the new king of the werewolves. Gianna’s mother was beautiful and very much like her; that is another reason why her father detests her.
The lovely Giannella was sweet, kind, and affectionate; she was also a victim of mockery for being a Gamma. Typically, in the packs, there are alphas, the most powerful ones, who lead the pack. Known for being larger and stronger, they have huge fangs, a commanding voice, and a dominant character that makes anyone submit.
Then there are the betas; they are responsible for supervising the other wolves. They are second-in-command when the leaders are absent.
They are the alpha's right hand. Usually, the most capable betas are chosen, and that’s how the alpha selects the best.
Next are the warriors and relatively strong wolves; among them are other alphas, betas, and deltas who tend to have strength similar to that of alphas, but their smell is foul, among other species formed from the league of alphas with betas or betas with deltas and so forth.
At the end of the chain of command come the omegas; in the hierarchical pyramid, they are considered the lower class, mainly known for their long periods of heat, their submissive nature, and their delicate physique. They suffer the most abuse from all others.
We also have the Gammas.
A hierarchy more commonly known by the term “defective omega.” Yes, this is the weakest hierarchy known; they are truly sickly and require specific care, and if they become pregnant, they are at considerable risk of dying during childbirth.
Few Gammas are born; there are very few of them, and Gianna's mother was one, which is why her daughter turned out to be an omega, although that does not define her.
Gianna’s father remarried a beta after the death of his wife, who died giving birth to their daughter, and he did so as a prerequisite to run for beta under the then-alpha of the pack… She is Lucrecia Serpa; a year later, they had Mariana and years later Mario.
Since she was very young, our protagonist has suffered abuse, mockery, beatings, among other things, for being weak.
Marianna and her group, despite being a year younger, bothered her sister a great deal and spoke ill of her to everyone, claiming that she intimidated her and lied about her, when it was the other way around.
Gianna was a target of mockery and bullying at school; it wasn’t until she turned ten, after arriving covered in blood and bruises, that her grandparents taught her to defend herself with bows, arrows, and swords. They also taught her how to fight. Thus, every time someone tried to harm her, she managed to escape those attacks, although it was always somewhat difficult, as they were stronger.
The Beta's mansion was very close to the Alpha's since he was his right-hand man, allowing Gianna to see the man of her dreams, Jackson, frequently. This man is tall, handsome, and has a strong character that she has always found appealing, but he does not tolerate her for being an inferior, weak being and for the supposed damage she causes to his younger sister.
Currently, she attends a secondary school in the pack, which prepares them for university while also teaching them to defend their pack.
Mariana, Gianna’s younger sister, is beautiful but cruel. She and her group of friends live to torment Gianna, laughing at her and always trying to hide things from her for their amusement.
Gianna is pretty, delicate, and her beauty is unique, but to avoid drawing attention, she hides behind a messy bun and somewhat masculine clothes, and inadvertently, this has only made her a bigger target for bullying.
Normally, when people are bullied, they have a friend who supports them, but this does not happen with our little Gianna, as everyone looks down on her as if she were a pariah.
She only has her grandparents, who love her and give her affection; they know how badly she is treated, but that is the life of an Omega.
Recently, a war has broken out; there is a united group of creatures that wants to take over packs, clans of vampires, or the realms of various species, and they have already destroyed most of the fairy realms and some elves, giving more power to groups of savages that include exiled wolves, ancient vampires, hybrids, and giants that terrify many species.
Due to this situation, the training at every secondary school or university has become more intense.
Today at the pack's secondary school, the new alpha is visiting to supervise his pack.
All the students are lined up, and among them is Gianna. Her heart races at the sight of the alpha, while he is annoyed by her presence.
“Everyone split into groups of ten so my men can evaluate you,” he says, and everyone quickly moves, but when he sees the young girl approaching a group, he intervenes.
“Hey, you, get out of the lines; it’s clear that you can't defend the pack, you can only serve as bait for others to flee, and for that, you don’t need training or to be a she-wolf,” he retorts, and everyone laughs at the young girl.
Gianna feels her eyes sting, but she just sighs and walks away; she doesn’t understand his hatred toward her.
The young girl watches the training from a distance while contemplating the possibility of having hidden powers, but there is nothing of the sort; she is not a strange goddess, nor will she have powers to defeat anyone; it is just her and her decision not to remain weak.
The young woman observes the man from afar, wondering about the reason for his hatred. She hasn't done anything to him, she gets tired and gets up running to go to the old shooting range that she has been using while in high school, from where they take her away for being an Omega.
Gianna takes her bow and starts shooting at each target, leaving no center without an arrow.
Then she takes the knives and throws them, obtaining the same result. Her training has been hard and she is prepared for any war, perhaps not as one more wolf, but as a warrior.
Her grandmother has taught her everything she knows about medicinal plants, plants, and spells that serve as distractions in a fight; her grandparents always tell her that it is not necessary to have powers to be brave and defeat enemies, and she believes it.
It is true that there are powerful vampires, there are also wizards, sorcerers, wolves, and many kingdoms of strong creatures, but there is also the kingdom of King Marcus; they are humans who fight with swords, weapons, and knives, although well, they have something on their side and they are the immense dragons, but without them, they have also won many battles.
Gianna prepares herself because she knows that in the heat of war they will not be able to leave her aside and she will be able to prove her worth and make everyone understand that being an Omega does not define anyone.
Gianna, at almost 18 years old, has not yet met her wolf; her grandparents believe it is because she is the daughter of a gamma, but she is grateful since the other wolves use the weakness of omegas against them to take their bodies when they go into heat or just by order; instead, since she doesn't have a wolf, even her charms don't work on her.
Many Omegas have been abused and end up married to other Omegas. Some never marry and only serve to satisfy the needs of other wolves.
The young woman does not feel any excitement about becoming a wolf; Maybe she will meet a mate who doesn't care about her rank like her father, who married her mother being a gamma, although it is more likely that she will end up rejected and with enormous pain in her chest.
Gianna continues this time jumping and hitting her practice dummy with the sword. The young woman only has that power, her perseverance, and courage.
At the end, the girl goes to the exit, since the others have already finished and others are still fighting in their wolf form.
"Hello, little trash, I thought you had gone home." Mariana says smiling.
"Don't start, Mariana" she says and turns around, finding herself with other friends of her sister.
"What do you say if we put the little garbage in the place it's going?" Gianna thinks about grabbing her dagger, but she thinks better of it when she sees the king still in the place; he would surely send her head to be cut off.
Gianna does nothing and they take her between several while she struggles to free herself; once they are in the dumpsters and there is no one there, she drops one of the colored bombs and they all start screaming, so she takes advantage of it and escapes, leaving them with their screams.
The young woman walks home already tired of so much abuse, although she can't do anything about it.
As she walks back, she observes in the distance what divides her pack from the others and wonders if there will be a place for her beyond.
"Hello, father, I've arrived, how are you?" She asks her dad and he looks at her with disdain.
"I heard from your sister that they kicked you out of the ranks, because you're going to training, you don't even transform." The growl that comes out of him scares her a little.
"I don't know what more calamity you want to cause me; your sister told me crying that you threw something disgusting at her. Why are you so mean, were you only born to harm? The young woman's heart shrinks; the sting squeezes her heart; It is a real shame that her own father treats her that way.
"Dad, but she…" She tries to defend herself.
"But nothing, you're an insolent woman who only envies her sister; get out of here." The young woman runs to her room as tears fall from her eyes.
The poor girl cries and looks out the window, asking the Moon Goddess if this will ever end.
"Moon Goddess, why so much suffering, why didn't you make me strong or give me powers like the omegas in the stories I read; no, I didn't get that happiness." She keeps crying as her heart clenches and she cries silently, but there is no answer.
"Honey, I'm coming in, okay?" Her grandmother enters and looks at her with regret.
"My girl, come into my arms." The young woman does not hesitate and cries without barriers. She releases what is oppressing her chest.
"He hates me, Grandma, he does; I didn't kill Mom, I don't deserve so much pain." She says while her grandmother runs her hand over her head.
"Shh, little one... Of course, it's not your fault, but your pain still blinds him." She comforts her as she cries.
"Granny, is there any possibility that I am not my father's daughter, or that I have some hidden power." Her grandmother denies it with regret, looking at her.
"No, my girl, your mother was a simple gamma who couldn't stand childbirth, your father is our son and we don't have anything magical, well, my healing power that I have taught you and the ability to create potions," said her grandmother. .
"Grandma, are you telling me that I won't be like that Omega, who turned out to have power and be queen." Her grandmother shakes her head with a sweet smile.
"No, my girl, but you don't need powers; your heart and mettle are more valuable, or are you saying that someone without power is worthless?" Her grandmother asks, raising an eyebrow, and she shakes her head.
"No, Granny, of course not, but I hate being the Omega they point to and make fun of." Her grandmother looked at her.
"The best thing about life is that the days come one after another and anything can happen; you have a long way to go to prove your worth." She nods happily as she hugs her grandmother.
"Easy, honey, now calm down and never lose hope."
The days went by, and as usual, harassment was part of Gianna's life. More encounters with her crush had taken place, as she went very often to watch the training sessions.
As soon as Gianna saw him, she would leave the line and walk to the other field, at least until the alpha left.
The young woman began to walk and looked up at the sky; in the distance, several dragons flew across the sky. It was certain that some confrontation was happening again; now she understood the constant presence of the alpha.
Impacted, the young woman watched the spectacle in the sky. They were dangerous beasts, and they were the property of the Fire Kingdom. The ruler there was highly respected and feared. His dragons were trained and obeyed their regents very well; sometimes she saw them with riders, other times they were alone.
Gianna imagined how much character that king and his warriors must have to be able to tame such enormous beasts.
While the young woman was lost watching the show, a voice interrupted her.
“Well, well, now you're slacking off.” Jackson, the alpha of the pack, said with disdain. He was handsome: black hair, green eyes, an intense gaze, thin lips, a light beard, and a strong body worthy of an alpha.
His mere presence made Gianna tremble. He was imposing and dominant.
“Alpha…this is a place far from the training grounds where you forbade me to be,” she said, earning a scornful look.
“Why do you even come to high school? Then comes college, and there it’s even more intense. You are an omega, just stay home and wait for someone to satisfy.” He said, breaking the young woman's heart.
“With all due respect, Alpha, being an omega does not prevent me from learning, unless it is a new law and I am not aware of it,” she replied. The king shook his head.
“The only reason I don’t kick you out of here is out of respect for my beta, who is your father and my friend, but don't push your luck,” he said, and she looked away.
“Those of your kind shouldn’t leave their homes. Or well, I think I'm going to consider creating schools just for you so you don't bother the others.” The rage in his eyes was great.
“If you think so, it must be right. Now I will take my leave so as not to disturb you, Your Highness,” she said, leaving the presence of the alpha king only to go cry. She spent the rest of the training session in the old shooting range; there she took out her rage by training.
When she left, it was time to leave, so after collecting her things, she went home. Gianna's life was the same every day, although now a new stalker had been added: the man she loved. Gianna got home and saw everyone moving. She only said a quick hello to her father and got out of his sight.
Mariana and Lucrecia were excited and were looking at dresses; Gianna just went to her room. Her grandparents came in a little later.
“My little one, how are you?” asked her grandfather.
“Sad, Grandpa. Every day I can bear the insults less.” Her grandfather hugged her and stroked her head.
“Don't worry, little sparkle, one day it will stop,” he said, and she sighed resignedly; that would never happen. Her grandmother handed her a cake and said:
“Look, you thought no one would remember, but we do,” she said with a smile.
“Thanks, Grandma… I thought no one had remembered, although my father surely does, and today he hates me more, that’s why I said hello to him quickly,” she said sadly.
“Don't let them ruin your day. Today is a great day; 18 years ago, the most beautiful baby in the whole world was born,” her grandfather said with a smile.
“Congratulations, little sparkle, today you will become a beautiful wolf, I know it, I can feel it,” said her grandmother.
“That’s right; that’s why there is so much fuss in the house, a party for me,” she said, and her grandmother laughed and shook her head.
“No, honey, tomorrow there’s a party at the Alpha’s house, and everyone in this house must go,” she said, and Gianna refused.
“He hates me, I won’t go,” she said, but her grandfather bit her sweetly. “You have to, little one, it's important for the pack, and the beta's family must be present.”
She nodded and blew out the candles with her grandparents. “Make a wish, beautiful,” said her grandmother, and she closed her eyes. I wish I could be happy someday, she thought, and blew out the candles.
The cake was delicious; they spent a very quiet afternoon. Gianna finally smiled warmly for the first time in a long time. The young woman said goodbye to her grandparents and went to bed.
She looked at the bag of clothes her grandmother had prepared for her to change into and sighed. Today she would meet her wolf, but she was scared; now others would have power over her, and that scared her. The cold night blew wind, and it seeped through her window.
She looked at the sky, and there was the moon shining as always. She looked at her watch, and it was 11:30 p.m.; in half an hour, the change would take place. Other wolves had big parties that ended with the birthday boy disappearing in the middle of the night, but she wouldn't have that.
Her sister's party was majestic; she still remembers it. Her sister’s wolf is brown, and her eyes are honey-colored; she is beautiful. Her father and stepmother waited for Mariana with a change of clothes and hugged her in the middle of the transformation. They gave her words of encouragement, but there would be none of that for her.
She was born different from the rest, and that is often a problem; differences make others criticize you, point you out and even alienate you; they discriminate against you for things that don't depend on you. Gianna took her bag and went out into the woods.
She went deeper and deeper and looked at the moon; it was beautiful. She closed her eyes and imagined her mother looking at her, with a proud smile and eager to hug her and tell her that everything would be alright.
An intense pain ran through her body; she felt every bone in her skin break; the pain was very intense; she fell to the ground with a scream of pain. Her body was burning and shaking, and she tried to scream again, but instead of a scream, a howl came out.
She looked down and had legs covered in white fur. When she thought about speaking, a voice flooded her mind; she was both surprised and excited; it was her wolf. “Hello, Gianna, I’m your wolf, my name is Xena, and we are beautiful,” she said, and she ran towards a lake. She approached the water, and after drinking, she saw herself in the reflection.
Beautiful was not exactly what she was; the wolf in the reflection was majestic: immaculate white fur and golden eyes that looked like fire.
Xena.
The wolf ran a lot that night and talked about many things with her human. She would not be alone anymore; now they had each other.
At the end of the tour, she returned to her human form, took the backpack with her clothes, and after changing, she returned to her room, but someone saw her return and knew why.
Mariana, tomorrow she would invent something else about her because she was sure that Gianna would meet her mate, and Mariana did not want to see her calm and in love before she did.
