ISABELLE POV

It has been nearly two weeks since the invitation for the King's Hallow ball has been sent out to all the noble families of Ivor, families are ecstatic upon receiving these invitation and the shops of seamstress and tailors all over the kingdom has been flooded with work.

Currently I was at my mother's shop taking the measurements for the third lady who had a smile plastered to her face while I took her measurements.

 I was exhausted as it wasn't even noon yet and shop was packed with people like sardines, don't get me wrong I am happy that we had this much which was rare but for the past two weeks I and my mother had been in the shop from dusk till dawn, and we couldn't even afford the luxury to spare time and have our bread for lunch.

Lady Erin has been going on talking about the ball and how only the nobles and those of status were invited, I couldn't help but sigh internally at the fact that I had heard her exact same words from numerous ladies to the point that I could recite it.

 I forgot to tell you why everyone was so ecstatic on this Hallows ball, well rumor has a that the king is in search of a bride and the ball was a front to find a suitable bride.

Do not mistake me for a gossip but, you can't close your ears when the whispers are so loud.

"Isabelle", my mother called. "Yes mother" I answered.

"When you are din with lady Erin could you go to the fair and inform the lady Penelope that both her and her daughter lady Andrea dresses are ready for pickup.

"Okay mother", I replied.

Today was the fair, it is basically a less elaborate version of the hallows ball where everyone would gather including us of lower status and the king and his council would grace us with their presence.

I found lady Penelope and her daughter Andrea in the company of some friends at the fair, after relaying my message the two women were so eager to see the dresses that they decided to come to the shop in an hour time.

While I navigated through the crowd of people to take the path back home, I couldn't help but look in front of me at a distance in a shaded canopy sat the king and his council all surrounded by guards.

 King Lucian Morningstar was a young and handsome man who many were aware of the fact that he wasn't human because he had ruled Ivor for nearly a decade and there was not a speck of aging on his face.

 The king was suddenly looking around as if sensing I was looking at him, he turned his he towards me a d our eyes locked, I immediately turned away feeling a slight pang of fear in my heart that I was challenging his authority if I held his gaze long.

It was finally sunset and mom locked up the shop after settling all her customers for the day.

 At home my father and three brothers Trevor, Gregory and Colin were all seated at the dinner table while I brought in the side dishes and mom brought the main dish.

In our family we couldn't afford the luxury of my mother being a simple housewife or I being the obedient daughter who was waiting to be married off to a rich young man. We all contributed in the affairs of the house, my father was a simple lumberjack and my brother assisted him as for my mother she was a seamstress.

My family was not particularly ordinary in appearance, I often get compliment that I look like my father because of my platinum blonde hair and hazel eyes which was rare considering the fact that my hair was too blonde and almost white compared to other young ladies as for my temperament I get associated with my mom and not my dad who was quiet, mom was outspoken and friendly as regard to my brothers they all had mom's black hair and dad quiet temperament.

After dinner, I did the dishes and went straight to my room to "sleep". Once everywhere was quiet, and I was sure everyone was asleep I picked up my cloak and snuck out through my window and head in the direction of my secret spot.

The river was clear with pebbles at the shore, taking off my clothes and was just on my chemise undergarment I took a dip in the water which was rarely ever cold and always warm all through the year.

 After a while in the river I stepped out and felt like someone was watching me and while I cautiously looked at the tall trees which surrounded the river I saw nothing, when suddenly I saw a white rabbit scurry in my direction from behind a bush. I hurriedly put on my clothes over my wet chemise and my cloak over me I hurried back home before someone realized I had snuck out.

Taking the path I headed home and entered my room through the window and changed my chemise into a dry one and immediately fell asleep.

                 LUCIAN'S POV

They hallows fair was just another event which had been arranged by my council members, under the shade of the canopy Klaus my right hand man stood beside me and told me the names and background of any young lady whose family introduce to me . so far they all seemed to have all the same appearance and personality which I have gotten bored of .

just when I was about to leave the fair, I noticed a young girl who was looking in my direction when our eyes locked for a brief second she darted her eyes and walked away.

I couldn't hold back my curiosity and I felt a pull towards her, like something about her seemed to attract me.

in a dazed state I stood up and noticed that the guards were also about to follow me, telling them to stay behind I found a quiet path and followed her at a distance.

it was almost midnight and I stood far from a house which she had entered a few hours ago, I was about to head back to the palace when I saw a shadow jumping out of a window and sneaking out of a room, I noticed it was the girl and followed her in the shadows.

she head toward the forest and I could no longer follow her without going unnoticed, so I spread my wings and flew over the tree.

I saw her in the river swimming leisurely, I landed softly on the thick bark of a tall tree and stared at her.

She stepped out of the water and for the first time I had a clear view of her face and I noticed a star shaped birthmark on her shoulder.

I was intrigued by the birthmark as I had never come across it.

Suddenly I heard a movement in a nearby bush and saw a rabbit scurry out.

Ensuring she got back home safely, I flew to the palace and land at the balcony.

My lord ", I heard Klaus speak" how was your outing", he asked, "good I replied.

"Has all the invites for the hallows ball been sent out", I asked.

"Change of plans invite every family in the kingdom with a daughter eligible for marriage either engaged or not to the ball", I instructed.

Klaus seemed shocked but he quickly composed himself and answered, "I will have it arranged my lord".

there was some kind of mystery about the girl and I had the urge to unreaffle whatever it was.
