...****************...

Nana had already dressed up beautifully even though she was only going to deliver lunch to her father at the oil palm plantation. Actually, it wasn’t because her makeup was excessive or flashy. Basically, she was already very beautiful. This twenty-four-year-old girl was often called an old maid because she was picky when being proposed to. In fact, those who proposed were not just anybody. They could all be considered very wealthy because they had houses and cars, but Nana seemed to enjoy this popularity.

Many praised her beauty and were very amazed by her face, making Nana arrogant. If she got married, this fame would automatically disappear, and the title of the village’s flower would fall into the hands of another girl. Nana couldn’t accept that. For seven years, the title of the village’s flower had remained in her grasp, as no other girl could match Nana’s beauty. Even Nani wasn’t as pretty as her sister. Sometimes that was what caused them to disagree, because Nana often mocked her own sister because Nani’s skin was darker than Nana’s, who was indeed perfect in every way.

She had a high, sharp nose and red lips without lipstick. Her skin was as white as peeled cassava. Her sharp gaze seemed to seduce the opposite sex. Her long, flowing hair was beautifully black. Her body proportions were also very supportive; slim waist, and a nice chest. Like a walking Spanish guitar, especially when Nana wore a short span skirt that showed off her smooth white calves. The eyes of men would definitely be on her. They could only swallow their saliva without being able to have her. Mr. Irwin had prepared his men who always guarded Nana when she was outside, because of the many incidents of village flowers being raped. This made Mr. Irwin wary in advance, he didn’t want his daughter to suffer the same fate.

"Masha Allah, she's so beautiful. If only my wife was as beautiful as her," whispered the oil palm workers.

"If you want a beautiful wife, don't just work as an oil palm laborer, mister!" replied the wives who were working on the palm fruit stripping.

Suddenly the men were silent and went back to glancing at Nana who was walking. From behind, her buttocks were very tempting to the eyes of men with wandering eyes. They swallowed their saliva because their hands were itchy to touch her. Nana approached her father's rather large hut when he was resting.

"I brought lunch, Dad," Nana greeted Mr. Irwin in a spoiled manner.

"Thank you, I happen to be hungry," said Mr. Irwin, who was often here to monitor the workers.

"Eh, but this is not free, you know," Nana smiled slyly.

Mr. Irwin knew what his daughter wanted, so he opened his cellphone and sent money to Nana's account. This girl cheered because she had received money from her father. This was the kind of life she liked, money. Even without a husband, she could have money, and also gain fame from men who were very impressed with her.

"This oil palm plantation is going to be mine, right, Dad?" Nana started the conversation.

"As long as you get married soon, this plantation will be yours," replied Mr. Irwin.

"Why do I have to get married? I feel like it would be better if I didn't get married," said Nana.

"Our age is increasing, Nana! Even if you don't get married, one day people won't be impressed by you anymore," said Mr. Irwin firmly.

"Says who? What if I stay beautiful even when I'm old? If I'm beautiful by nature, then I'll stay beautiful," Nana was very stubborn.

Mr. Irwin looked at his eldest daughter disapprovingly. He knew that Nana really liked the popularity of being the village’s flower. But one day it would all fade away, because there were still many girls below Nana who would grow up and maybe they would be even more beautiful.

"Look at Ahmad! He's engaged to Weni," Mr. Irwin mentioned the first man who proposed to Nana.

"Let him be, I don't care who he wants to marry! What’s more, someone like Weni, she's nowhere near me," Nana sneered.

"Watch your mouth, Nana! I never raised you to be arrogant. Just because a lot of people praise you, you get a big head and act up," Mr. Irwin snapped.

Nana was very upset because her father was scolding her, so she immediately left the place with deep annoyance. The important thing was that she had gotten money from her father, her plan to play with her friends could be carried out.

"Damn that old man! I don't want to get married, why is he making such a fuss," Nana cursed along the way.

"It's not nice to talk like that, Miss! He's still your father," Dani advised.

"Yeah, why did he bring up Ahmad's name? It's up to him whether he wants to get married or do a somersault," Nana said in annoyance.

Dani was the person who had been guarding Nana for a long time. Their relationship was quite close and Nana already considered Dani like her own brother, they were always together wherever they went because Dani's job was to look after Nana.

Episode 2

Nani stared at the mirror, tears streaming down her cheeks, lamenting her fate which she often felt was unfair. Compared to her sister who was indeed very beautiful, Nani often heard people gossiping that she was very ugly. Her skin was dark and curly hair adorned her head, although Nani often smoothed it to make it look straight and beautiful. Still, she wasn't as pretty as Nana. Nana was indeed very beautiful, making anyone who looked at her envious, including Nani, who was also very envious when she looked at Nana's face. Even though they were siblings, sharing the same father and mother, they were very different.

Nani's face strongly resembled her father's, which was stern, while Nana resembled Bu Asih, who was indeed very beautiful. In the past, she was also dubbed the village flower, but she wasn't as showy as Nana, who often flaunted her beauty to the people she met. Sometimes, as parents, they feared that Nana's beauty would backfire on her. Many village flowers ended up with bad luck because of their beauty, because not always beauty brings blessings, there are also those that bring death if the owner of beauty cannot take good care of it.

"Don't cry all the time, everything is God's destiny! Happiness doesn't require being very beautiful, we are beautiful in our own versions," Bu Asih advised her youngest.

"What do you mean by our own versions, Mom? There's nothing beautiful about me, Mom!" Nani cried even harder, cupping her face in her hands.

"You are beautiful in my eyes! One day there will be a man who finds you beautiful too, my dear," Bu Asih said, genuinely sorry to see her youngest like this.

"There will be no man who finds me beautiful, everyone who comes here is for Kak Nana," Nani said bitterly.

"Allah creates His servants in pairs, God willing, you will definitely find a partner," Bu Asih advised patiently.

Only Nani's sobs could be heard because she couldn't accept her fate. She often heard people say that Pak Irwin's youngest daughter was not as beautiful as her sister. It hurt Nani's heart. Once or twice, she would ignore it because her mother always advised her, but after a while, she also felt hurt hearing it. Nani was tired and hurt because people seemed to look down on her, especially since it had become a standard for men that the fairer the skin, the more beautiful, the dark ones would not get their love, only insults would the dark ones receive.

"Do you want whitening injections? Or an infusion of whitening serum?" Bu Asih finally offered the last option because she felt sorry for her youngest.

"Is it okay?"

"If it's just to make you fairer, I'll allow it, and so will your father! As long as there's no intention in your heart to have a nose job," Bu Asih warned.

Nani was overjoyed to be allowed to get whitening injections. She immediately got ready to look for a clinic to start her self-care treatment. Yesterday she wasn't allowed because Bu Asih was afraid it would lead to illness, but every day Nani would always fuss about her skin and looks, so in the end, she allowed it.

"Where did Nani go, Mom?" Nana, who was cooking vegetables, asked her mother.

"To the beauty clinic," replied Bu Asih briefly, massaging her temples.

"Hahaha, what's the point of her going there," Nana laughed as if mocking.

"Don't be like that, Nana! Your sister could be hurt if she hears you," Bu Asih advised.

"I'm stating a fact, Mom! In the end, she's just wasting money, she's still going to be the same," Nana said as if she had done nothing wrong.

"Nana!"

Hearing her mother's slightly raised voice, Nana fell silent and continued cooking. She cooked for herself because Nana didn't eat rice for fear of getting fat and didn't eat MSG.

...****************...

That evening, Pak Irwin's house received guests with a large entourage. They were quite surprised because this group had been here before. Davin's family came back to repeat the marriage proposal that had been rejected. Indeed, the son of this palm oil tycoon was very handsome. What else was lacking in Nana's eyes, besides being handsome, he was also financially well-off.

"My arrival here is to ask for Nana's hand in marriage, Pak Irwin," Davin's father spoke up.

"Just like before, sir. I leave everything to Nana, because she is the one who will live in the household," Pak Irwin replied.

"Accept my proposal, dear. I will buy you a car and five hectares of oil palm land," Davin pleaded softly, staring at Nana.

"I have no intention of getting married yet, please respect my decision! And please don't repeat this proposal again, I'm tired of seeing your face," Nana said firmly to Davin.

"Nana!"

Pak Irwin glared at his daughter, making Nana lower her head. This family was extremely embarrassed because Nana was being very rude. Even if she wanted to refuse, she should do it politely so that the proposing party wouldn't feel offended. It would be dangerous if there were offended parties, Pak Irwin was already worried about that. He knew that life in the village was very difficult, especially since Nana was very stubborn.

"So that Davin knows, Dad! I don't want to get married now, go marry Nani if you want," Nana suddenly said, offering her sister before rushing off.

Nani heard from the living room that her name was mentioned. Until now, no man had ever proposed to her. She realized that she was ugly, so no man was interested in marrying her.

"If you don't want to accept people's proposals, then reject them without bringing up my name!" Nani said angrily.

"Why are you angry? It's a good thing I offered you, so you'd get taken quickly," Nana said sharply.

"Fate is in God's hands, if my soulmate has arrived, I will get married even without you offering me," Nani snapped.

"How arrogant you are, you ugly duckling! Look in the mirror, you're so dark," Nana said, pointing at her sister's forehead.

Slap!

Nani, who was very upset because she was always insulted by her sister, slapped Nana, making her shriek. Suddenly, their parents, who were in the front, were startled and rushed to the back to see the commotion.

"What are you doing, can't you see that we have guests?!" Pak Irwin said angrily.

"Just get mad at me, I'm the ugly one that Dad always gets angry at," Nani shouted while crying.

Bu Asih signaled to her husband to attend to the guests again, leaving her to deal with the daughters' fight.

Episode 3

Davin's family returned home disappointed as their proposal was once again completely rejected. Davin's father actually didn't want to go there anymore, but his son was stubborn and insisted on proposing to Nana again. Arriving home, Davin was lost in thought because of his immense love for Nana. He used to live in the city and returned to the village. After arriving in the village, he was mesmerized by Nana's beauty, which was very tempting to men. Unfortunately, it was as if the girl was toying with him. Nana initially wanted to be close to Davin, but after being proposed to, she distanced herself and blatantly rejected him in front of her parents.

She was the fifth person whose love Nana had rejected. Davin didn't know what the girl was really looking for. He was also confused because they had already spent the night together and Nana was no longer a virgin. But why did the girl refuse when she was going to be married to the man who had defiled her? Davin really couldn't understand Nana's rejection. Proposing twice and being rejected twice, of course this man felt heartbroken. His parents had advised him to just choose another girl, or go back to the city because there were many kinds of city girls.

"Mom already told you, son. It's better to find someone else, Nana is an arrogant girl because she thinks she's beautiful," advised Mrs. Yuni.

"But I love her sincerely, Mom," Davin was still fixated on Nana.

"She doesn't appreciate your love. Don't lower your self-esteem," said Mrs. Yuni firmly, feeling annoyed.

Davin was silent in his own thoughts. To be honest, this young man's heart was hurting because he was always being rejected by the girl he adored. But what else could he do because he couldn't force Nana to love him? What was Nana really after that she so vehemently rejected the proposals of the men who had come to her house several times?

"Heh! Daydreaming again, you are," Lupi came up to his friend.

"You startled me!" Davin was shocked because Lupi came out of nowhere.

"You must be hurting, are you miserable because Nana rejected you?" Lupi sat next to Davin.

"You've been through it too, you know what it feels like," Davin said dejectedly.

"But we were more accepting, after all, you and I aren't the only ones who were rejected by that arrogant girl," Lupi said cynically.

There were already six men who had been rejected by Nana, in fact, it could be said that they were all very well-off men. Davin didn't know what Nana was really looking for. In terms of looks, the men who had come there were very handsome. Although Davin was the most handsome of them all, he was also quite calm even though his family was rather intimidating.

"You're not thinking of using a shaman, are you?" Lupi asked, glancing at Davin.

"What are you talking about?!" Davin was offended to hear about shamans.

"I heard your grandfather is a shaman, it's easy to get revenge," Lupi tempted.

"Are you jealous? It's useless for me to pray to God every day if in the end I fall into the hands of a shaman," said Davin, who was a devout person.

Lupi nodded in understanding because his friend was very sensitive when it came to shamans. Davin's grandfather was a famous shaman who could do anything to his victims. However, Davin was not at all interested in doing that. Although honestly his heart ached to be rejected by Nana, but never once did it cross his mind that he would do such a wicked thing.

"Okay then, I'm going fishing first," Lupi said goodbye. He was very fond of fishing.

"Just don't go fishing for that voluptuous widow," Davin joked.

"Of course, if I can't get a virgin, it's okay to get a widow," Lupi laughed loudly.

"What?! You're just using that widow as a substitute," Davin cursed.

"Well, she's the one who wants to, I'm paying her in return," Lupi said lightly.

"You're committing adultery!"

Lupi laughed and immediately started his motorbike. He went to the river to fish. Meanwhile, Davin went to take ablution water to pray so that his heart could be at peace. Davin could only be silent and continue to remember the heartache of Nana's rejection.

...****************...

Nana drank juice to replace her dinner, not feeling guilty at all towards Nani, whom she had just insulted thoroughly. She didn't care about the feelings of someone she considered unimportant. Mrs. Asih was tired of dealing with her eldest daughter. Nana's arrogant attitude made the people around her dislike her. Only her beauty could save her from being called arrogant and haughty.

"You're good at sweeping, you're really fit to be a maid," Nana sneered.

Crack.

The broom handle hit Nana's forehead because Nani couldn't take it anymore. Finally, they argued again. Nana splashed the juice she was drinking on her sister's face. A big commotion ensued in the rather large house.

"Get a grip, you're this ugly and you dare to talk back to me!" Nana snapped.

"Even if I'm ugly, I have feelings too. Don't just say whatever you want with that mouth of yours," Nani snapped back angrily.

"Where did I speak out of turn? It's a fact that you are very ugly, your skin is dark and dull," Nana insulted.

Sreeet.

Nani pulled her sister's beautiful hair, making Nana scream in pain. Not to be outdone, Nana also pulled her sister's newly smoothed hair. She was amused to see Nani coming home from the salon and still looking shabby because Nani's skin was indeed dark.

"Let go of me, black dog!" Nana shrieked in pain.

"You need to be taught a lesson, so you won't be so arrogant." Nani was indeed stronger than her sister.

Nana lost and was slammed against the wall of the house. The girl screamed in pain because her forehead was badly bruised. Feeling very annoyed with her sister's pretty face, Nani broke the juice glass and smeared the shards on Nana's forehead.

"Oh my God, Nana!" Dani panicked to separate them.

Just then, Mr. Irwin came out because he heard a very loud noise. He was furious and overturned the glass table, shattering it to pieces. Nani and Nana were both silent, enduring their respective pain. Nana's forehead was bleeding profusely from the shards of glass.

"Treat Nana's wound," Mr. Irwin ordered Dani.

"Yes, sir," Dani took Nana away from there.

Only Nani was left, her head bowed in fear of being scolded by her father. The girl's tears fell again because she felt it was unfair that only she would be scolded.
