     History claims to tell from the tales of the distant past to the happenings of yesterday, truthful to its words from start to end. But it has hidden from us the sinister, untold tales of myth. In the early centuries, living amongst the humans were beings of fantasy, myth and legend. And among those...were the last of the purebred vampires.

     Hunted, tortured, killed. Though not many were aware of their existence, those who knew formed hunting guilds, mercilessly slaughtering those who drank the blood of humans, exterminating every last one of them. Vampires began leading covert lives to avoid the humans. Many died of starvation as they could no longer obtain human blood.

     But...From the brink of death, she was brought back by a human...a young vampire with a lost sense of hope...With her memories vague, only her name lingers...

     "Clorissa!"

[♡]     In the shadows of the night, a cool breeze blows by, sending a soft chill down my spine. Oh, how I wish I could live a life as peaceful as the critters roaming beneath the moonlight rather than frantically run for my life. The thick tree branches stab me as I run, inflicting constant pain upon me.

     Behind me I can hear them, the cries of the hunters chasing me, growing louder and louder as they close the distance between us.

     'I don't have a choice.' I tell myself. Gathering the last drops of energy I can muster, I lift my feet off the rocky ground and shapeshift into a bat, spreading my pitch black wings and carrying myself as far away as possible.

     "After it!"

     The roaring of the hunters die down slowly, but I don't stop, fearing they'll find me if I do. I can feel my stomach turning itself inside out, craving for food— for human blood.

     Years have passed and clouded my memory to the point that I don't even remember the last time I tasted even a single drop of blood. Others of my race have died of starvation, and I'm next.

     As I approach a large field, my dizziness takes over my vision and blurs everything. My head becomes heavy and I struggle to move any further.

     I change back into my human form and land my feet on the soft grass. Still desperate, I drag myself a few more steps forward, the world before me spinning vigorously. But then, my body hits its limit and I collapse with a thud.

     "Please..." I whisper. "...someone...please help me..."

     At that moment, my teary eyes force themselves shut, and I black out into an endless abyss.
