Rocio runs her hand over her white dress. She can't believe that after so many years, she's finally about to become Samuel Torres' wife.
It’s been a dream she’s waited for a long time. Rocio met Samuel when she was 18; she was visiting her grandmother's luxurious mansion.
From the first moment she saw him, there was this very strong attraction. Rocio fell in love with Samuel, and he reciprocated.
The man was very handsome, although he was 8 years older than her, that didn’t matter to Rocio.
Samuel is tall, with white skin, big blue eyes, thick lips, and knows how to treat Rocio. He knew her biggest weakness.
He used that to make the girl depend on him at all times.
For 3 years, Samuel has madly conquered Rocio's heart. He has become an important part of the girl's life, so much so that Rocio gave him all the money she earned working so that Samuel could pay for his studies and become a true businessman.
"Rocio, are you sure you want to marry that man? I insist that what Samuel wants from you is not love." Rocio’s friend breaks the silence.
"Yes..."
"Fatima, I know you're not very happy about this wedding, but you're wrong about Samuel. He is an incredible man who loves me intensely."
Rocio turns her gaze slightly to her right where Fatima, her best friend, is.
Rather, her only friend. Rocio was orphaned when she was only 14 years old; her parents, along with her uncles, had a terrible car accident while traveling on the highway.
Since then, Rocio was left in the care of her paternal grandmother, Clemencia. A cruel and ruthless woman with her.
A woman who always treated her with disdain, from the first moment that Rocio moved in with Clemencia, the woman treated her like a servant, giving preference to her other granddaughter.
As the daughter of her daughter Amelia, her only daughter, Clemencia always showed more affection for Cecilia.
Cecilia not only bore a great physical resemblance to her mother Amelia, but had also inherited a huge fortune from her father.
Rocio, on the other hand, was a girl who looked a lot like her mother, Catalina, a humble girl who fell in love with Fernando, Clemencia's eldest son. She married her son without Clemencia's consent.
For that reason, Clemencia did not want Rocio; she was the daughter of a woman whom she always considered far below her only son.
She hated Catalina so much that she always wished her the worst. So much so, that she accused her of cheating on her son with the husband of her daughter Amelia.
Rocio was sent to public schools, while her cousin Cecilia was sent to highly prestigious schools.
Clemencia did everything to humiliate the daughter of the woman she hated. She sowed hatred in the heart of her granddaughter Cecilia, with the intention of making her hate Rocio.
Cecilia has always felt superior to Rocio; she believes she deserves everything. Meanwhile, she believes that Rocio should only pick up the scraps she leaves behind.
"Rocio, I still don't think Samuel is the man for you. He's too ambitious. He's only used you to get what he wants so badly." Fatima insisted.
"You're wrong, Samuel loves me. Please Fatima, let's leave this conversation here. It's my wedding day and I don't want to argue with you." Rocio defended her love for Samuel.
The bedroom door bursts open. Samuel enters in a dark gray suit, sees the girl in white in front of him, and then glances at the chubby girl next to Rocio.
"Get out of the room..." Samuel orders Fatima.
"It’s “please,” sir. Ms. Hernandez can leave me alone with my fiancee." Fatima corrects Samuel.
The man draws a slight line on his lips.
..."Who does this cow think she is to talk to me like that? She's nothing but a pig, far beneath me. ___ Samuel says to himself....
"I understand that pigs like you don’t speak our language, but even a dog understands more than you."
Every word that came out of Samuel's lips surprised not only Fatima but also Rocio. The man before them was not the same man Rocio was madly in love with.
"What's wrong with you, idiot?!"
Furious at the insults, Fatima approached Samuel. The girl raises her hand with the intention of slapping the jerk in front of her.
"No trash like you, you filthy fat girl, will lay a hand on me."
Samuel stops the girl's hand in mid-air; without any mercy, he pushes Fatima out of Rocio's bedroom.
He closes the door securely before turning his full attention to Rocio.
"What's wrong with you, Samuel? How dare you treat Fatima like that?" Rocio scolds her boyfriend.
"Shhh..." Samuel signals her to be quiet.
"Watch your tone with me." Without mercy, Samuel slaps Rocio.
Drops of blood came out of the girl's lower lip. Rocio is scared; she had never seen this side of Samuel.
"You're crazy!" Rocio crawls across the bedroom floor, trying to get away from Samuel.
"Don't be dramatic. It was just a slap. That's to teach you not to yell at me." Samuel says, looking at the frightened girl.
"You're a monster." Rocio comments.
"Ah..." Samuel takes a deep breath.
He leans down in front of Rocio and grabs her arm. In one swift motion, he lifts her off the floor.
"Honey, the judge is waiting for us in the living room. For your sake, I hope you don't do anything stupid, or your fat friend will be the one to pay the consequences."
..."Marry?...
Rocio tried to pull her arm away from her fiance Samuel's grasp. However, Samuel held the girl's arm tightly, making it impossible for her to break free.
"No, I'm not going to marry you!"
"You can't force me!" Rocio exclaimed, challenging Samuel.
"I can't?"
"Want to bet, dear?" Samuel releases the girl's arm; placing his hand on Rocio's chin.
"If you don't give in nicely; I'll open the door and throw that sow down the stairs." Samuel threatened Rocio.
The girl felt so much pain in her face that it was inevitable not to cry.
"Let go of me, you imbecile!" Rocio raises her knee, slightly hitting Samuel's groin.
For a moment, Samuel let go of Rocio. Nervous, Rocio tries to open the door to escape from Samuel.
However, the man recovers quickly and prevents her from escaping. Fatima was no longer outside, the girl was run off by Clemencia's butler.
Rocio was thrown against the wall. Then Samuel's hand placed itself on the girl's brown hair.
"I don't love you, I never did, you were just a tool I used to pay for my studies... Now that I've achieved it, I'm no longer interested in you. I'm already where I want to be." Upon hearing those words, Rocio felt as if her heart was being ripped from her chest.
The man she loved for years was a wretch, who never felt the slightest love for her.
"Bastard!"
Rocio manages to free herself from Samuel's grasp and slaps him hard.
"I loved you, I dreamed of starting a family with you! I gave you my whole life!" Rocio's soul was broken.
"Why do you think I never touched you? You always disgusted me. That's the only thing a woman like you causes."
Samuel slaps Rocio again, leaving half of her face red. The girl brings her hand to her face, her tears don't stop falling from her eyes.
"The only woman I'm going to start a family with is your cousin Cecilia. She is a woman worth something and now she is expecting my child."
"Not like you. A fool who thinks she's very pure, and she's nothing more than anybody. The one who slept with every man who came her way, to get the money he asked for..."
"You think I wouldn't find out?"
Rocio slaps Samuel twice more, what he just implied was disgusting.
Her soul was mortally wounded by each of Samuel's words. She never thought that the man to whom she had given her soul, had her in that concept.
Tired of being hit by Rocio, Samuel punches Rocio hard. The girl immediately felt dizzy, her cheek turning red and swollen.
The man's large hands fell on Rocio's bare shoulders, pushing her against the armchair.
"Your grandmother Clemencia is down there, anxiously waiting for me to make Cecilia my wife, and you stupid girl, you're not going to humiliate me in front of her." Samuel exclaims proudly.
Rocio sadly realized that everything had been planned by her grandmother and her cousin Cecilia.
Fear was reflected in the girl's eyes. Her heart beat wildly inside her chest, it was a horrible feeling.
Rocio remained silent for a long time. She could only hear her heart beating.
"Are you afraid of me?" Samuel asks mockingly.
Rocio couldn't deny that she was panicking. She never imagined that the happiest day of her life would turn into the most horrible day of all.
"Let me go!" Rocio pleaded in a low, broken voice.
"Let you go? Don't even dream of it, come on, let's go to the living room, you'll witness one of the most fascinating weddings." Samuel pushed Rocio to the door.
The girl refused to go, but having no one's support, she gives in to go to the living room and see with her own eyes the man she once loved with all her might; marry her cousin.
He drags her out of the room without mercy. Before going down the stairs, they stop.
"That's my love. Wipe away those horrible tears. They just make you look like a crybaby and make you look uglier than you already are."
Samuel ran his hand over Rocio's face, mercilessly wiping away each tear.
"That's better."
Rocio couldn't take it anymore, she pushed Samuel away with all her strength, she just wanted to get away from her whole family.
The man loses his balance and tumbles down the stairs. His body rolls without stopping, falling until he reaches the bottom.
Rocio watches as Samuel falls until he hits his head on the last step. The girl brings her hands to her face, they run through her hair.
Immense fear gripped her body as she saw the blood gushing from Samuel's head.
She ran down the stairs and fled her grandmother's mansion. Without anyone noticing.
Rocio manages to get out of her grandmother's mansion, she walks through the streets. A short time later, hearing the noise, everyone came out of the living room.
The first to come out was Cecilia, the elegant girl, wearing a white wedding dress, similar to the one Rocio was going to wear for her wedding.
Cecilia wanted the same things as her cousin. So she bought a dress similar to Rocio's.
Her white skin combined perfectly with the dress, making her look like an angel. Seeing Samuel unconscious, Cecilia ran to his side.
She kneels down beside Samuel, her tears flowing effortlessly from her eyes.
"My love, not you." Cecilia hugs the man's body.
"Help!"
"Help!"
Clemencia, along with the other guests, came out of the living room. Looking at Cecilia hugging her fiance's body. Everyone is stunned for a few seconds.
Clemencia approached her granddaughter and silently observed the pool of blood around Samuel's head.
A slight smile appeared on her lips, although she immediately erased it. The cunning old woman couldn't believe her luck.
Things turned out much better than she had planned. Rocio would soon go to jail, and Samuel, the man she considered trash, would soon cease to be a hindrance to her.
"Call an ambulance!" Cecilia ordered the maid who saw everything that happened with Rocio and Samuel.
"Right away, ma'am."
The maid ran to call the ambulance while the other guests just watched the scene and whispered among themselves.
"The bride was left dressed and flustered. Who would have thought, William Shep's heiress, was left like a small-town bride, dressed and with illusions."
"What a pity, she looked spectacular dressed as a bride. Sadly, it's no secret to anyone what she was trying to do."
"I don't know which of the two is more wicked, Cecilia or Clemencia."
"Now who is she going to marry? Clemencia must get her another man right away."
"I hope he's not dead; otherwise, we'll be invited to a funeral instead of a wedding."
Clemencia gave a warning look to the women who were whispering about what had happened.
No one wanted to make an enemy of a woman like Clemencia de los Rios. It was no secret to anyone how she treated her granddaughter Rocio.
Soon after, the ambulance arrived at the mansion, and Samuel was rushed away.
All the guests returned to their homes without daring to comment on what had happened.
However, Fatima remained hidden inside the mansion. She witnessed Samuel being taken to the hospital.
"Rosi, you're in serious trouble. Oh my girl, you won't escape the fury of these witches." Fatima couldn't help but feel sorry for her friend Rocio.
Since her parents died, she has been cruelly humiliated by her grandmother and cousin. Now, because of the man she considered perfect, she will be in jail for several years.
The girl left the old mansion when no one else was there. She took a taxi with which she intended to look for Rocio.
As night fell, Fatima was unable to find Rocio; it was as if the earth had swallowed her. She returned to her apartment, hoping that Rocio had gone there.
...Meanwhile...
Cecilia was anxiously awaiting some information on Samuel's state of health. She paced back and forth.
Her hands rested on her belly, praying that Samuel was okay and that nothing would happen to her son.
..."Why is this happening to me?" Cecilia wouldn't stop crying; she felt her heart leap out of her throat....
Clemencia rose with difficulty, approached her granddaughter, and placed her hand around the girl's shoulder.
"Calm down, my love. Remember that all this is hurting your son. Dante must be born strong and healthy." Clemencia consoled Cecilia.
"Grandma, I'm sure it was that bitch Rocio who did this to Samuel. Because of her, my son will be born without knowing his father." Drowning in tears, Cecilia blamed her cousin.
"Let the police find her. She'll spend her whole life behind bars." Clemencia gritted her teeth.
"Grandma, I want to kill her with my own hands! I hate her! I hate her!"
"Ceci, don't think that, you must be calm," Clemencia insisted.
"Ahhhh!" Cecilia felt a sharp twinge under her belly.
Beads of sweat dripped from Cecilia's forehead.
"Nurse!" Clemencia shouted.
"Calm down, my love. If anything happens to my great-grandson, I swear that bastard will cry tears of blood."
Soon the nurse approached Cecilia and took her to one of the rooms.
The pain soon passed, and Cecilia recovered in a bed.
"Grandma, I'm the owner of Y&O, the most important chain in the market. Tomorrow, what happened with Samuel will be a scandal."
"My love, you shouldn't worry about that; I'm here. I promise I'll take care of everything."
"Now rest. I'll take care of you." Clemencia kissed the girl on the cheek.
Exhaustion overcame Cecilia, and the girl slept soundly until the next day.
In a completely dark room, Rocio began to open her eyes. Looking around, the girl was so startled that she clumsily got out of bed and fell to the floor.
Because of her clumsiness, her hand pushed a picture that was on the nightstand to the right of the bed.
The photo broke into a thousand pieces; spreading the glass everywhere. The loud noise caught the attention of Ana, the woman in charge of everything related to Damian Montenegro.
The woman turned on the lamps near the bed. Looking at the girl on the floor, she immediately approached Rocio, preventing her from hurting herself with the glass.
"Miss, please get back in bed."
"Who are you?!" Rocio briefly observed the woman in front of her.
"Don't be silly, get back in bed before young Damian comes."
"Damian? Who is Damian?" Rocio asked, not understanding anything.
"Damian, it's me..." A cold voice, like an iceberg, was heard coming from the door.
Rocio got up from the floor; as she took a step back, she felt a twinge in the sole of her foot.
One of the shards of glass cut the girl's foot.
Rocio let out a loud scream.
"AHHHH!"
Blood began to flow from the wound, staining Damian's rug.
Damian walked quickly to the bed; the expression on his face was not favorable for Rocio.
Upon reaching her, Damian lifted the girl and carefully placed her on the bed.
