Alex was playing basketball when the ball got away and flew across the road and was caught by a guy in a suit. The guy turned around and Alex's eyes widened.
"Yours?" He hands the ball over.
Alex nods taking the ball, still staring at the stunned expression on the guy's face.
"You look familiar," the guy frowned and she could see he was trying to figure out, where he knew her from.
She quickly turned and started walking away
"Alex?"
Alex froze.
"You look, different." He continued to gape taking Alex in, the three quarter pants, muscle tank and cap twisted to the back. At first he had taken her for a guy but then his mind linked the image of her from that night to now and he recognised her. He couldn't remember the neck and arm tattoos but the face was definitely hers minus the makeup.
"Uhm do I know you?" She turned back to him with a confused look on her face.
Zane was surprised that she didn't recognise him. He thought for a moment and then decided to be direct and took a step forward, "It's me, Zane from a month ago. You know, the night of the party, when we.....?"
She kept the confused expression, her face turning red." The party......?"
"Wait, you can't be serious. You don't remember me? I mean, I know you were pretty drunk that night, but I'm surprised you don't remember. We...... uh...... spent the night together."
Alex's jaw dropped and her face went pale, then she pretended Áto think for a moment, fiddling with her cap. "Uhm, no."I......I'm sorry, but I......I really don't." Alex stammers. "I think you're getting me confused with someone else." She turns and starts to walk away again, when suddenly he grabbed her arm.
She quickly reacted her martial arts training coming into play and punched him in the stomach.
Her punch caught him off guard, and he stumbled backwards and doubled over. "Oof!" He felt like the wind was knocked out of him and he doubled over.
"Oh my God I'm so sorry I just......" Alex trails off, unsure of what to say."
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" He said breathlessly struggling to straighten up holding his belly
She stared at him shocked. "I didn't mean to.......oh my god! Look Zane....whatever your name is. I'm not her. Maybe she's the twin I never knew I had but I'm definitely not her. Ok. Sorry about everything."
Zane finally straightened up still holding his belly, a grimace on his face, staring at her stunned. "But......but you look just like her......You're lying. Why would you do that?"
"I'm not lying! You have to believe me! I don't know who this person is or why you think I'm her, but I swear to you I'm not!" Her voice cracked as she struggled to convince him although she was lying and badly too.
Zane wasn't buying it for a second. He was confused and couldn't believe she was pretending not to remember him. He looked at her and said, "Oh, come on. You know we had a good time. I mean, I remember everything. It was definitely you."
Alex was completely flustered and embarrassed. She looked away, unable to meet his eyes. and sighed, realizing that there was no point in denying it anymore. "Fine, you got me. I'm her. But it was a mistake. We never should have done it."

Alex stares at him, taken aback by his request. She hadn't expected that at all. She hesitated, not sure how to respond. "Um......sure, I guess. But only if you can keep up." She says with a smirk. "Wait, your suit?"
Zane laughs. "I sure can. Yeah, I know, I look a little overdressed. I had a business meeting earlier. He shrugs out of the jacket and rolled up the shirt sleeves. Alex chuckled, and threw the ball to him, watching as he started dribbling it around.
She introduced him to her friends who were mainly guys. Zane smiled and shook hands and quickly became a part of the group. The game was on and it was intense. Zane was pretty good. He moved quickly and smoothly, passing the ball with ease and when it was time to make a shot, he didn’t miss. Alex tried to focus on the game but her eyes kept straying to him. The shirt was a close fit and tighten around his chest impressively, revealing his muscular frame and reminded her of that night, how her hands had run down his body.
Alex quickly turned away, trying to ignore the thoughts that were running through her head. She didn't want to think about that night, but it was hard to forget. She felt her heart beating faster, and she had to remind herself to stay focused on the game.
She couldn't help but notice how well he interacted with her friends and everyone seemed to like him. Zane joked and teased with them, keeping up easily with their banter. He too looked over at her a few times making her feel a bit flustered.
They played for an hour and a half more and when they were done they were all sweaty. Zane came over to her smiling, his shirt plastered to his chest, messing with her thoughts, his hair wet and clinging to his head.
He noticed she was staring at him and he smirked. "Good game." They slapped palms.
"Yep it was." He was still holding her hand staring at her and she suddenly realised how close they were. Their bodies were almost touching. She felt her pulse pick up, and her cheeks flushed. She couldn't believe how close they were. She tried to pull away, but his hand tightened around hers. Alex got a heated vivid flash back of that night when she saw his eyes darken and become intense. She knew what he was thinking and her breath caught in her throat.
He leaned in. "Zane don't." She pulled away trying to get some distance between them looking around to see if anyone witnessed their intense moment. Most were gone and whoever remained were busy talking.
Alex straightened her beenie and grabbed her bag. She glanced at him and saw that he had picked up his jacket but was still looking at her.
"Let's go get something to eat. It'll be my treat."
Alex hesitated, not sure if she should agree to go out to eat with him. She was still shaken up by the moment they had shared, amd she wasn't sure she should be spending more time with him. But she also didn't want to be rude. She thought about it for a moment, and then she finally nodded. "Okay, that sounds good."
