The Sunlit Sky

Prologue: A Light Breeze

“Your Highness, please get down from there! It is dangerous and you could fall!”

A little girl sat up in the branches of the tree as her maid called for her.

“Anne, it’s fine. I won’t fall down. But seriously, you should see this! The view up here is gorgeous, and the wind feels great!”

The girl grinned as she looked down to her maid to assure her. She then tilted her head back up, feeling the breeze flow through her long blonde hair. Her vibrant blue eyes stared off into the distance as her white one-piece dress fluttered about. She looked as if she had come out of a fairytale.

“Ellie, stop troubling Anne and get down from there.”

“Your Highness, your safety is our top priority. Please come down.”

The girl’s father walked into the garden with a stern face. He headed towards the two with his guard following behind him.

Slowly, Elianna climbed her way to the bottom, obeying her father’s orders.

“Ellie, take into consideration your position and the feelings of the people around you... You are making Anne worried.”

“I’m sorry Father. Sorry Anne. I will try my best not to worry everyone,” Elianna replied, tiling her head to the side and making a bright smile. It seemed as if she didn’t learn her lesson.

Shaking his head, the man thought of the hundreds of other times that Elianna did something so dangerous.

‘How did my daughter grow up with such a carefree attitude.’

Elianna was a very bright child, growing up to be a splendid lady. Her manners were perfect and she could adapt to situations quickly. She was more knowledgeable than scholars in the whole entire kingdom. She was even practicing swordsmanship at a high level and continued to improve.

But, throughout the 10 years of Elianna’s life, she had caused too much stress for the people around her with her easygoing attitude. She would climb the highest trees around, wander about without any guards, and pester knights to spar with her all the time.

At the beginning, her mother would faint every time she heard of Elianna’s activities, and her father would reprimand her. But, after slowly adjusting to her behavior, they came to the conclusion that they couldn’t stop her.

“Head back to your room for now, and Anne, please keep an eye on her...”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Okay, have a good day Father. We will take our leave. Anne let’s go.”

Elianna gave a cursty and walked towards the castle. Anne bowed and ran to catch up with her.

Her father and his guard watched as the two girls went back inside.

“Michael, what do think goes on in that girl’s brain?”

“I do not know Your Majesty.”

They stood in the empty garden with the thought stuck in their heads.
