NOISES OF THINGS SHIFTING

AFTER EVERYONE IS SETTLED DOWN.

REPORTER- Miss. Darcy, we'll begin now.

DARCY- Very well.

REPORTER- So, Miss Darcy, what inspired you to write this book?

DARCY-- Young love, I guess.

THE SCENE SHIFTS TO THE YEAR 1975

HOUSEKEEPER- Sir, your car is ready to go. Mr. Kim is waiting for you.

MR.KIM IS THE CHAUFFEUR OF MR.DUAN WHO IS A VERY RICH BUSINESSMAN IN

ENGLAND

Darcy comes down running from the stairs.

And hugs her father, Mr. Duan.

DARCY- Daddy..

MR. DUAN- Good morning, my dear princess.

I'm going to work, be a good girl and study hard ok.

DARCY- ok daddy, take care bye.

DARCY GOES AROUND LOOKING FOR SOMEONE.

DARCY- Kris, where are you? Kris?

KRISTOFF- I'm here you dumb girl.

KRISTOFF IS A HANDSOME AND TALL YOUNG MAN,THE SON OF MR. KIM, AND DARCY'S CHAUFFEUR,WHO DARCY EXCLAIMS IS ONLY A BEST FRIEND, MORE LIKE A BROTHER.(sometimes I doubt her too, for claiming that he's only a friend)

DARCY- I'm gonna be late for class if you keep looking in the mirror like that.

KRISTOFF- What else can I do? My looks is just too captivating.

He leans closer to Darcy and says.

"What do you say, uncle Duan's princess? "

Darcy drags him by the hair towards the car.

DARCY- You know what? Just tell me if you don't want You drive me to class.

KRISTOFF- Darcy Duan, let go of my hair. You'll ruin it.

DARCY- If you think you're handsome you are not. Now let's go.

Darcy and Kristoff goes to class as the maidens and the housekeeper sees them off.

MAIDEN 1-- Sometimes I doubt if they're trying to hide that they're in love.

MAIDEN 2-- Me too, there must be something going on betwe-

HOUSEKEEPER - Quite, what nonsense are you talking about? And even if they were together, Mr. Duan will never let them be together, unless he was Chinese.

Housekeeper is 58 year old, very rude but kind man,who only thinks about his work.His name is Mr. Zheng, and he respects Mr. Duan and secretly, he just wants to marry Darcy off to his lousy son, so that the company could be given to his son, since he heard Mr. Duan say that, whoever marries Darcy will get the company.

Meanwhile, maidens root for Darcy and Kristoff. ( They just like to gossip)

THE SCENE SHIFTS TO 2024

DARCY- I never thought that life could take an unexpected turn. During that time, I was with one of the popular guys in the University, whom Kristoff hated alot.

REPORTER- was it because he was jealous?

DARCY- I don't know. But the man I love would probably be jealous hahaha.

She let's out a laugh, filled with pain.

SCENE SHIFTS TO 1975 AGAIN

DARCY- See you after class, dumbo.

she gives a flying kiss as she turns around, flips her hair and walks off. Kristoff enters his classroom and so does Darcy.

They were just taking normal class when suddenly.

UNKNOWN- Everybody runnn. Terroristtt, runnn.

Everybody starts rushing for the door. They start pushing and rushing through the hallway. Darcy runs out of the door and starts looking for Kristoff. Her friends tries to convince her that Kristoff might be out by now, but she doesn't agree. She keeps on looking for him everywhere.

DARCY- Kris! Kris! Kris!

Suddenly there's firing all around the corner and Darcy couldn't help but fall to the ground, she has always been scared of the sound of guns, ever since her mother was shot infront of her. She blocks her ears and sits there helplessly crying.

KRISTOFF- Darcy! Hey, hey! Are you all right?

Darcy trembles in fear, her tears falling uncontrollably. Kristoff picks her in his arms and runs along the hallway. Darcy looses her consciousness and Kristoff tries to run as fast as he can.

KRISTOFF- Darcy! Darcy! Stay with me. Hey, don't you die on me, you dumb a$$.

He shouts at her as they run along the hallway, his eyes filled with tears.

DARCY- No, no please don't. Mom, momm.

She wakes up from the nightmare, breathing heavily and horrified.

She looked around to find Kristoff holding her hands.

             DARCY'S POV-

When I woke up from the nightmare, I looked around and saw people everywhere. Everyone was running and rushing around, confused, I asked, "where am I? ".I could feel my hand being held by another's, I turned to the other side and saw Kristoff holding my hand. For some reason, I felt protected and comfortable. I didn't know why but, seeing him made me so relieved. Who could have imagined, a young man, who's face was as hard and stone, and heart as cold as ice, would rescue me. "Kristoff!Thank God you're alive, I could've never imagined my life without you. "

My body moved on its own and hugged him tight, I don't know why my eyes was filled with tears, but I felt so much relieved to see him alive. But I felt weird and pulled away, "I didn't mean to" I exclaimed. 'In my 19 year's of friendship with Kris, I've looked at him as a great brother, but why does it feel so weird today?', I thought to myself. It was rather horrifying because I had never felt that way before.

I looked around the corner, after a while I noticed Luca walking away. Luca was my boyfriend and I didn't want him to misunderstand. But before I called out for him, he walked away and as I tried to get up of the bed, Kris stopped me. He said I needed some rest and didn't let me go, maybe he didn't notice Luca.

         KRISTOFF'S POV-

I waited holding her hand, and for the first time in my life, I was worried for her in the way I never did before. Her beautiful face was filled with fear as she woke up breathing heavily. Maybe she had a nightmare, the same old nightmare of when her mother was killed.

She asked me where she was, and before I could even reply, she put me into shock as she suddenly hugged me. Why did it feel weird? But it felt wholesome at the same time. I was just about to wrap my hands around her when she suddenly pulled away. I was too stunned to speak, everything was happening so quickly I didn't had time to react. My mind froze for a moment. Why is it that, all my life I've been so close to her but, lately everything feels different . Why is it that, every morning she comes into my room to call me, in every different outfits, my heart beats faster and she just shines like the stars.

' We're just friends afterall, what could possibly happen between us.' I told myself. I noticed her looking around, I tried to look and in the corner of my eye, I saw Luca walking away.

She tried to go to him, but for some reason it made my heart feel troubled. And how could I possibly let her go near that loser. I pretended not to see him and asked her to stay in the bed, although it was not necessary. Was I too selfish, he's her boyfriend after all. What is there to be jealous about?

SCENE SHIFTS TO 2024

DARCY- At that time, I realized that loving a person can make you act in different ways. But all I knew was Luca was my boyfriend and I loved him.

But now, if I was to fall in love with anyone, I would always choose that particular person I chose on December 12th of 1975.

SCENE AGAIN SHIFTS TO 1975

Mr. Duan ran towards Darcy, hugging her as he approached, grabbing Kristoff by the other hand.

MR. DUAN- Thank goodness you're okay.

He gives a gentle kiss on Darcy's forehead as he exclaimed, "My princess, I'm so glad you're okay. How could I have lived without you! ".

MR. DUAN- Thank you Kristoff my son, what could I have possibly done without you. Thank you so much.

KRISTOFF- No problem uncle Duan. It's my duty to look after Darcy. She's like my sister after all.

Darcy's heart wrenched as she thought to herself, " Did he just called me his sister? Well, what more could be there?"

She paused for awhile and thinks to herself, "Why am I so concerned about me being his sister? What are we supposed to be, if not best friends? Darcy, you've gone mad."

(of course right? like,they're only best friends,hahah)

Darcy's thought is interrupted when Mr.Kim tells everyone that it's time to go home.

While going home, to Mr. Duan and Mr. Kim's surprise, Darcy and Kristoff maintains distance as if they're mad at each other. They faces opposite to each other and both of them keeps looking out the car's window.

They return home safe and sound. That night Kristoff is particularly worried about Darcy sleeping alone in her room, "Should I go to her room? Should I accompany her tonight? ", he slapped him self realizing what he was thinking. He said to himself, "What has gotten into you Kristoff Kim? ". He just ignores his thought and tries to sleep.

Meanwhile on the other side Darcy is waiting for Kristoff," Will he come?I hope he comes, I'm sure he'll come." She thinks to herself and slowly falls into deep slumber while waiting for him. She was very tired and sleeps while snoring loudly.

The next morning, Darcy rushed to Kristoff's room as usual but today she was very early. To her surprise, Kristoff had just came out after shower, his black hair soaking wet ,he stood there with only a towel on.

DARCY- What on earth are you doing?

She covered her face and turned around. Kristoff gave a sly smirk and exclaimed, "what on earth are 'you', doing here so early?

DARCY- We have to go to class.

KRISTOFF- Its so early. What are you even rushing for? We have like... more than one hour left.

He approaches her and slowly pushes her towards the door and locks it. His hands placed behind her head, and their lips almost some inches away. His other hand slowly moves towards her waistline making her heart beat faster every passing second. He looks into her eyes and ask's her, "Are you worried that your loser boyfriend will be surrounded by girls? "

She pushes him away, and unlocks the door. She pauses before going out as she exclaimed, "it's none of your business, and if if I was, why does that bother you anyway. "

She runs out of the room breathing heavily,

"Wooh, that was pretty close." She sighed and goes for the kitchen.

Meanwhile on the other side, Kristoff is filled with anger and jealousy, as Darcy talked about Luca.

After a while when they were just about to move for school, something very unexpected happens that shakes Darcy's heart completely.

"Miss. Darcy, we have bad news!"

"What is it?"

"I- I don't know how I should say this..." and just as the first maiden was struggling to speak, the second maiden steps in. "...You should listen to the radio."

(Turns on the radio)

RADIO- This morning, we have the information that General Kings has been admitted to the civil hospital. He was shot in the Terrorist attack yesterday. The situation is very bad and it is found that General King's son, Luca Kings was also a victim of the attack. Soldiers have been injured severely and many other students have had minor injuries while most of them have managed to escape. Further information will be made known......

"what in the world am I supposed to-" Another worry for a young girl, who'd just been discharged from the hospital. What can be more terrifying than having your loved ones taken away from you again and again by the same old people. The terrorist was one of her biggest fears.

Darcy falls to the couch in complete despair. Her mind went blank, because what could she possibly think of? That history was repeating again? Probably nothing. Holding her hands together in a prayer against her chest, she starts shedding tears. A crybaby you would think, only if something like that happened to you, would you still say that Darcy was overreacting?

" Darcy! Are you alright? Calm down please. We'll figure this out." Kristoff says, kneeling on the ground as he holds her hands.

KRISTOFF- (thinks to himself -: "At last the day has come and I have to witness her crying for some man. And that man is not me; not yet! ")

" Kris! I want to see Luca... How must he be doing right now?I hope he's okay. I... Don't know what to do right now..."

"Darcy, Darcy! Calm down first! Okay?"

A little words from Kristoff and Darcy were calm;who else would calm her down if not her only friend? He has always been with her and if not him, no one would know her so well. She was a rollercoaster of emotions, and her day never passes without a scream and a little cry.

Kristoff knew what would happen next if he didn't do anything. A grown baby crying on the couch was what he was gonna witness next. He sighs and orders the guards, "Prepare the car! We're moving in a bit."

MAIDEN 2- But Sir, I don't think it's a very great idea. She's not in a good condition. After what happened yesterda-

- It's okay! I have decided to go and I will go. My health is not a problem.

MAIDEN 1- (says to maiden 2 in a whisper) Idiot, why did you say that?

MAIDEN 2- What?...It's our duty to look after her. I'm not ready for any lectures from Mr. Duan.

The next minute Kristoff folds his sleeves and they are ready to go to the hospital. As soon as they reach the hospital, they go about searching for Luca in every room that was in the hospital.

Finally after a long search they find Luca and Kristoff leaves them to themselves and goes out of the room. Darcy might be a spoiled girl, but she was just as kind as her mother. That was what her father loved in her, also because she resembled her mother so much. She had those milk-white skin and long and lustrous black hair. Pretty brown eyes and, a beautiful figure. Maybe that was what attracted all the boys in the university.

In the hospital room, Darcy walks over to Luca, sits beside him and gently holds his hand. "Hey.. " Darcy shyly greeted, as if she'd never spoken to him. Luca chuckles, because what else could he do. She was always shy to talk to him since the first day they met. "What are you laughing about Luca?" "Nothing. Just seeing you makes me happy!" Luca pauses for a while and slowly pulls away his hand from Darcy's. "Darcy, I've been wanting to tell you something.. " "Sure, go ahead what is it?" the fact that Luca pulled away his hand doesn't bother Darcy much, because he'd always been a little distant from her. Was it because he felt uncomfortable? Or was it because he never loved her? Yes it was because he never loved her. "Darcy, I don't know how to put this but, umm.. I don't think this is working!" Darcy is taken aback by his words, " What.. Do you mean this is not working? Do you want to end this relationship?" "Yes Darcy, I want to end this. There has never been a dull moment with you in my life. It has been a good experience, and I'll cherish us forever. But unfortunately, during the whole thing I never felt the need to protect you. I could never replace Kristoff. You might not be seeing it, but I see that I or anyone in that case can never replace him. I'm sorry".

And now, what was Darcy supposed to say? She stays stunned, unable to process what was happening. "I... Uhh.." and after a long pause the answer finally comes "Okay!"

"Is that it? Okay?" "Yea, Okayy! Since you didn't feel the need to protect me and since you think that I and Kristoff have things going on between us and since, you think this won't work out, you just gave up instead of sorting things out. So that's it, I have done my part and lets call this off peacefully. I guess forever was just part of your bad jokes."

"Darcy, you don't have to take it that way. I never meant to hurt you... It's just-". " It's okay, I understand. It'll be absurd if I force you to stay. Life has decided to take a turn and I guess it is my time to take control. I don't want to meet with an accident."

SCENE SHIFTS TO 2024

DARCY- and well, what a heartbreak it was. It was February and the year just had to start that way. I wasn't feeling the pain that I was supposed to feel. I cried the whole way home, questioning why I didn't feel the pain. I didn't cry for Luca, at all. I was so confused, and it made me question if I had ever loved Luca. But for some reason it hurt me because, soon I found out that he was engaged to one of our classmates. Always a blonde girl right? Guess Olivia Rodrigo and I had the same problem haha..
