It was all become blurry for Julius when he found out the news. Not from tears but from shock and disbelief. How could this have happened? Why did it happened? It just didn’t make sense to him.

Earlier, he tried to calculate all the different ways of why a situation like this could be even be possible. However, there was no way that he could have prepared for such devastating news which made it even hard for him to think clearly.

“-sorry for your loss.” He heard many people say towards him, expressions of pretend pity and sympathy on their faces. Most of the people who had attended the funeral despised his parents.

Staring at his parents pale and cold bodies, Julius rationalised one reason why his parents was dead in front of him.

If he told anyone about how his parents are involved with shady businesses then they would not have been surprised. He heard conspicuous whispers of how his parents had it coming.

Whenever he started school, he heard words of caution that parents told their children.

“Be careful with that boy.” They would whisper. “That is the son of Sylvester and Roger Pace. The Pace family are very dangerous people, so I don’t want you getting on their bad side even with their son. God knows what they might do to you.”

Hell, even before he went to school he heard about the apparent misdeeds of his parents. About how they supposedly ‘silenced’ a man and caused a whole organisation to go bankrupt.

However, there was no way to prove that his family committed those crimes and no way to go against them using the legal system.

After all, the Pace family was of a high social standing within the government and other businesses in the country.

They were also a very secretive when it came to any aspects of the personal and business life which made it impossible to get any kind of evidence against them.

If anyone of low social standing went against them using the legal system then they would get completely obliterated.

It’s no wonder someone took to murdering them, Julius thought. But how was it possible enough for the perpetrator to get so close to his parents, enough for them to get poisoned.

It could have been a servant of their household but all the servants that are hired have been with his family for years and no new servant has been hired recently. The servants there had plenty of opportunities to kill his parents throughout the years; even if it was one of them, why would the do it now?

As Julius was deep in thought the funeral carried on. The right of passage was said and prayers for the dead married couple were said. He never noticed the aggravated look that his uncle gave to him.

As his parents was buried deep into the ground, Julius found a new determination to find whoever is parents killers and make sure they pay.
