It is Monday morning when Richard got a call from his long time friend Paul asking him to meet him at Lagos that he won a contract with Huawei a Chinese company, Richard was living with his mother at nassarawa Nigeria, as a young man who has finished his senior secondary school but was unable to further his studies due to the fact that his parents where unable to sponsor his University education, hence he has nothing doing at the moment, so when he got the call from his friend telling him to meet him at Lagos, he was excited.

So after receiving the instructions from his friend telling him where to pick the equipment there will be using to work and as an evidence to present to the company before the final approval, he started getting ready to move to Lagos, but there was a problem (transportation) as a young man who was still living with his mother and has nothing doing can't afford transport to Lagos from nassarawa state, so the mother has no choice but to borrow money from a neighbor with the hope that when his son gets to Lagos after the contract he will send her the money so she can pay back.

After getting the transport, Richard when to the pack and bought a night ticket to Lagos because it was the cheapest, on their way to Lagos there encounter some challenges with the bus the breaking down, despite all the hindrance there manage to arrive at Lagos by 7 AM.

it was the first time for Richard to visit Lagos so he doesn't know anywhere, at the park Richard started calling his friend to tell him that he have arrived at Lagos and at the park, guess what? his friend lines where switched off, Richard stood at the park confused and don't know what to do being his first time visiting such a big and busy city Lagos, he have no option but to keep trying his friend lines till mid-day when his friend now called him and started apologizing with an excuse of being in a meeting.

He then gave Richard direction on where to meet him, after a while Richard arrive at the place and finally met his friend, there exchange pleasantries and waited for Emeka who's Paul town's man Richard's friend who now took them to his apartment where he leaves.

Paul, Richard's friend finally got the contract to install 3g network on MTN mass in nine different locations in Lagos, with the help of Richard his friend there able to achieve this task, it was supposed to be a work for three people but Richard and his friend Paul where able to finish the job in just two weeks because Richard is a powerful and strong young man for lifting having equipments, that makes the job easier for them.

After finishing these nine sites of the 3g network installation there was a delay with payment from the company, it was a contract of about 5 million naira and according to the agreement between Richard and his friend, Richard is to get 1.5 million naira after the contract, so since there was a delay in payment from the company Richard and his friend was finding it difficult to feed, one day Richard went to a shop to buy some items, he got a call from his mother right at the shop, he picked the call and start communicating with his mother in their native language little did he know that the owner of the shop is from his hometown, so when the owner of the shop heard him speaking the same language with him after Richard finished talking to The mother,

the owner of the shop greets Richard in their language and Richard exclaimed.... ohhh my God are you from my hometown? Yes reply the owner of the shop, what are you doing here my brother ask the owner of the shop, I came here with my friend who got a job and then invited me to come over, Wow that's good, good to meet you my brother reply the owner of the shop, and happy to meet you too my brother reply Richard, where do you stay ask the owner of the shop, I stay after that white building with my friend Paul's home town man Emeka, okay that's good, welcome to Lagos, my name is Desmond how about you ask mr Desmond, my name is Richard, okay please come back whenever you're less busy let's talk more, so that you can meet my family, okay thank you very much I appreciate, responded Richard and he left.

After that day Richard visited Mr Desmond who introduce him to his family, there hard a chart for a while and Richard told all that has been going on, how the company is delaying with the payment and how it has been difficult for him and his friend to feed, upon hearing this, Mr Desmond told Richard that he can be coming at his shop to collect anything he will be needing and pay back whenever there receive their payment, I can't afford to see you go hungry says Mr Desmond, please also come to the house whenever you're hungry I will instruct my wife to keep food for you offered Mr Desmond, thank you very much brother for your kind gesture, I really appreciate it a lot.

Two weeks later the company finally paid and Richard calculated all the money there have owed MR Desmond and pay off their debt, but Paul, Richard's friend was feeling reluctant to settle Richard and started giving excuses, in order for him not to settle Richard as they agreed when the money finally comes, he started fermenting problem and accusing Richard of not being serious with the job any longer, after the first contract Paul Richard's friend was given another contract, in other for him to silent Richard, he invited another person by the name Elijah when Elijah arrive at Paul Richards friend decided to work with Elijah abandoning Richard totally, Richard became frustrated, now Paul Richard's decides to move to another location without informing Richard upon living he did not settle Richard on their agreed amount when he was inviting him now he only left a thousand Naira note inside the Bible of Richard, and then he instructed Emeka his town man to chase Richard out of the house, Emeka did just that, Richard was frustrated, with nowhere to go he decided to turn to a nearby Hotel where he has already made some friends and told them about situation, they took him to the owner of the hotel because he has been assisting them with some hotel activities when he started coming around and make friends with them, with that, the owner of the hotel allowed Richard to stay at the hotel until his able to figure out what to do because the owner of the hotel could not employ him because he already had enough staffs, Richard now met with a lady that owns a kitchen at the hotel and ask if they could work with the lady, and the lady replied oga where will I get the money to pay you are too big to work with me besides, what will 17,000 Naira do for you, 17,000 is okay for me, I just want to have something doing and have a roof over my head because for now I don't have anywhere else to go, and I don't have another alternative for now.

Richard was later employed by miss Jane as a cook and was still looking out for other jobs miss Jane encouraging to keep looking for other jobs that are better than the one he's currently doing she often givese him transport to go to some other locations and look or apply for other jobs that pays higher than hers, what a kind woman, so Richard keeps searching and search until he got a job as a security personnel at ajah Lagos state.

On first of July 2015 Richard resume his job as a security personnel at ajah and worked for just 7 days then he receives a call from his uncle who later told him that another of his uncle's wife is going to call him, that's the wife of the son of his grandmother's step-brother, that whatever she told him to do he should just go ahead and do it, an hour later Richard receives a phone call from his uncle's wife asking him to come home that he has been given a federal government appointment as a civil servant at the independent national electoral commission (INEC) so Richard who just started working 7 days ago was now thinking on how he's going to tell his boss he just started working for some few days ago that he's leaving the job that he got an appointment and will be needing transport to take him to Cross River State, his state of origin for him to get his appointment letter, but he summoned the courage and when his boss get back from work that evening Richard explains everything to his boss and his boss understood and assist him with TP fair and bless him and wish him good luck and success.

the next day Richard got to the park with the help of his boss bought the ticket and set out to Cross River, the journey was smooth there was no hindrance or any issue along the way, he arrive at his home town, utugwang obudu LGA Cross River State safely and on the next day he went for his appointment letter.

When he got the letter, his uncle gave him 15,000 naira to travel to imo State where he will be documented, then he called his driver to pick Richard up at the park and instructed the driver Mr Elijah to assist him with the documentation, so when they got to the office, Mr Elijah his uncle's driver took Richard to the admin.

On getting to the admins' office, Mr Elijah said to the admin sir, commissioner said I should bring this man to you for documentation, the admin then turn to Richard and ask him where are your documents, Richard open his file and brought out his WAEC certificated, the admin collect it, and after going through it, he called the secret officer Mr Linus who's in charge of documentation and said to him please document this man, when the documentation was over, Richard was posted to his station as a clerical officer on grade level 4, with the hope that after saving some money he will further his education.

And Richard never heard from his friend who invited him to Lagos and never get paid according to their agreement. so this is how things turns out for Richard
