I Never Chose You

A Familiar Plot

Wie Ru arrived at the Toa Tower as the text had instructed her to do, she felt her body shake with nerves as she stepped through the door and entered the lobby. She was at work when she received the text, a picture of her sister Hoo Ru bounded and gagged lying on the floor with simple instructions telling her where to be and that she should come alone. She ran over without hesitation because she was scared of what might happen to Hoo if she took too long. Hoo was the only family she had that still spoke her. They had never been close, but Wei was always thankful every time she picked up the phone when she called to ask about their home and father, so if anything happened to her Wei would never forgive herself.

Walking through the lobby she suddenly felt. strange, this hotel was a premier location only visited by the rich, why would criminals choose to take her sister to a location that was often visited by paparazzi and always in the news why wouldn't they chose a more remote location, she wondered. Hoo was involved with them so they couldn't be petty criminals, maybe Hoo had offended some young miss of a rich family and this was their revenge. Her mind swirled with thoughts as she danced through the busy lobby avoiding guests. She wondered how they would escape if at all, it was rather foolish to come here alone. "I know I'll tell Xo." she thought grabbing her phone but before she could send the text she received another message.

“Do you want your sister to die?” The text read with another screenshot of Hoo crying and a knife at her throat. Gone were her thoughts of texting Xo as her heart pounded through her chest, she ran through the hallways of the lobby towards the elevator suddenly colliding with a masculine figure. They crashed to the ground, Wei face tucked into his chest. “Watch where you are going.” She heard a voice behind her say before forcefully dragging her up. “Don’t you...” He began but as soon as Wei's feet hit the ground, she was in the elevator pressing the bottom. “I’m sorry.” She called out as the door closed. She was in a rush; she had no time to properly apologize but she figured her sister's life was more important than manners.

The door of the elevator opened on the 10th floor, Wei heartbeat quickened, she approached room 1040 as she wondered what was awaiting. The door was slightly ajar, “Hoo.” She called out, but no one answered. “Hoo, she called out again before entering. She walked through the darkroom touching the wall looking for a light switch, suddenly she felt one as the lights came on she heard Hoo let out a sound. “Hoo.” She shouted running towards the bedroom, she pushed the door open but the Scene she saw made her heart stop. On the bed was Hoo and lying below her was Wei's fiancée Chen Sun.

Betrayal

“Chen," Wei thought as she looked on the scene, she stood frozen. Hoo looked up suddenly laughing, “You’re finally here.” She stated, walking over to Wei. “I wondered if you would come, I didn’t know you cared so much for me. If it was you I would be at a bar celebrating, it would have been better if you hated me, you would still be living in blissful ignorance." Tears formed as her sister spoke. “Why?” she thought, they had never gotten along as children but after moving out to attend college Hoo had made an effort to keep in touch. Why was she here with Chen, what was that text message? Was it all for this? Wei dropped to the ground tears poured from her eyes. "Why Hoo?" Hoo scowled at her grabbing her head she bent down to her ear.

"I saw something I wanted and went after it, or rather him. Why should a bitch like you have everything!" Wei looked up at her sister in disbelief, how could she not she, how had she not know that her sister hate ran this deep.

"Thanks Hoo." Chen shouted.

“Chen!” Wei screamed realizing that he owed her an explanation more than her sister, Hoo she could understand, hoo she could deal with, but how could he do this to her. They had been together since high school, how could he betray her like this. “Chen” she shouted again but received no response. “You are bold enough to cheat with my sister but too coward to talk to me now.” She cried walking over to grab him. She realized, “Hoo.” He cried out in pleasure. This shattered the remaining pieces of Wei's heart.

She released his hand in shock, turned and ran towards the show.

"Leaving so soon, you're gonna miss the show, he performs really well" Hoo called, Wei felt her pieces of her heard sink into her stomach at her sisters words. Scratching at the handle she finally opened the door and sped down the hallway tears flowing from her eyes. She was crying so much that she didn't look where she was going and before she knew it she crashed into a man with a familiar scent. “Pathetic.” She heard a voice thundered down she was flung to the ground. She looked up through her tears wondering why men were so cruel but all she saw was his back as he walked away. “This is the second time you have ran into President Han, don’t let there be a third. He doesn’t do well with the damsel in distress act.” Wei looked up at the blond she had met earlier, she opened her mouth to explain but stopped before a word left her lips. She did not owe this man anything plus his arrogance annoyed her. Standing up she wiped her tears, she had enough humiliation for one night. “I apologize sir.” She stated bowing. “It was an accident, I apologize for being careless.” She bowed again held her head up and left.

Wei walked through the door of her small apartment, her body shaking. She closed the door behind, thankful Xo had gone to visit her parents this week she immediately fell to the floor as the scene in the hotel room replayed in her mind. “Chen.” She cried out in pain, her heart was completely broken. She replayed all the sweet memories in her head, the first time he confessed to her in high school, their first date, their first kiss. The proposal he made last year, in the past she had felt nothing but joy when she would think of these memories but now all they offered was excruciating pain. “Was all a lie?” she wondered, when did he and her sister begin that sort of relationship? Chen in the past never had anything good to say about Hoo, was he just trying to hide their affair by pretending to hate her? Wei heart and head felt heavy as these questions filled her head. She laid by the door sobbing until she had no tears left. At that moment she decided resolutely to let it go. She and Chen were over but her life wasn’t, she would get through this just as she had done her mother’s death. What was the pain of a lost lover compared to that of a parent? Standing up slowly she pulled herself together, she would go on thrive even. It was better that she found out who the man she had loved really was before she married him. “Yes I am better off without him.” She cried before jumping in the shower, hoping the shower would also wash away her love for Chen.

Lost Love

Wei walked through the doors of the airport

pulling her suitcase, it had been a month since she found Chen and Hoo

together, and a month since she had fled to country A.

After catching them together she thought she could handle it but after Hoo sent her pictures of them together she had to leave. luckily she had saved up all her vacation days for what

would have been their honeymoon. She left without a word to country A, where she had

buried her love for Chen, found reasons to smile again, fresh air and

adventure. She did not want to return but she knew she could not run away

forever she had to face them, “Wei!” She just didn’t think it would be so soon.

“Wei", she heard him say again. She turned

around to Chen's angry eyes glaring at her, but they quickly softened once he

saw her tears. “Don’t cry I’m not angry I

was just worried about you, you stop answering your phone and we couldn’t find

you for a month. I had to bribe some airport officials to find out you had left

the country. Wei, why did you leave without telling me?"

Wei, who had been crying suddenly stopped as she heard

these words. Making a fist she buried her feelings once again. She pushed him

away. “Don’t touch me.” Chen stared at her, shocked

his hand frozen midair. “I apologize Mr. Sun for not

making it clear, your relationship with my sister has ended anything we had

together.” She grabbed her suitcase “What relationship?” he asked grabbing her.

“I have no relationship with Hoo.” Wei scowled with disgust as she looked at him.

“Casual sex, I am happy to find out how much of

a playboy you are before I married you. Now would you let go of my hand.” Chen

shook his head.

“I never had sex with Hoo.” He thought for a

moment.

“You must have misunderstood I was in a hotel

room with Hoo but she only helped me because I was drunk nothing happened.” Wei

could feel the anger inside her erupt he really took her for a fool.

“Mr. Sun I was

in that hotel room and saw it all. Are you telling me not to trust my own

eyes?” Chen stared at her, shocked slowly

releasing his grip. “Wei I never…”

“Now that you know that I am aware of your

affair I hope you don’t find me again. I was a fool in the past, I don’t plan

on being one in the future" he watched frozen as she walked unable to move.

, goodbye Sunshine.

She turned to leave without

seeing the final look on his face as she called him the name, she had

affectionately called him for years. He has always felt like her little ray of sunshine, always

ready to warm her up if need be now no matter what all she felt when she

thought of him was the pain of lost love and betrayal.

Chen watched his life walk away, he stood confused

and angry. He had awoken in the hotel to find Hoo taking care of him, but she

promised nothing had happened. She never told him Wei has seen them together.

“Maybe Wei had accidentally seen them together and misunderstood.” He thought

but quickly forgot that idea as he remembered Wei's eyes, he

had never seen her eyes so serious when she looked at him, and no longer filled with the love they once held. Wei had seen enough to end their

relationship. He made a fist, “Hoo" he thought, this must have been her

doing. He had always warned Wei to watch out for her because he knew her

intentions weren’t good. What he never expected was that he would be the one

who fell into her trap. Pulling his phone from his pockets he dialed a number.
