Well the Internet gives us the chance to create our own worlds like gods, and just as such we often need followers if we want to create a name for ourselves.
I never thought of it like that.

So isn't it kind of cool we can do anything online, and because it all stays on the Internet it helps feed into our presence?
I don't know, its kind of scary how everything stays on here. I'd like some stuff to be deleted at least.

Lol, true. It is a total invasion of privacy, and even though it helps to create an online presence.. Sometimes we say something and it can even be taken the wrong way, which fuels the fire.

Yeah, I've said some things I thought would be taken lightly... But a lot of people took it way to seriously..

Cause even though the Internet lets us feel like gods, its over piled and so many people have a real god complex and others are just mischievous. Though there is a good handful of people out there, that are definitely humane.

I guess this is why all gods throughout history have dark and good rumours about them.

I think we should stay offline more and do things in real life! Who cares what others think or say.

Yeah but the Internet is so nice, we can see videos from all over the world and educate ourselves on things we never knew about.

Just as I said, its kind of like being a god. Even though it's all through a screen and not like any real powers and all that lol.

A god can overlook the entire globe, just like we can, even places with no data. You can take videos or pictures and then get to a spot to reconnect, and upload them from there.

Well there are times where I get all my friends online to help shut someone down, or to cook someone. And like you said earlier, you really can see all over the globe from earth, to space, even in the deepest bodies of water..

Well, in order to be online I do need to care for my physical well being. Though I do wish we can be online forever and not worry about any of that... So I guess I prefer virtuality.. it's more free I feel..

So do you have any family or friends in real life?
it's complicated... I have parents that I don't talk to anymore. I still have friends but everyone is always busy working.

No lol, this chat box is an app I created. I was put into an experimental project by the government, and am now just online forever. My real body died some time ago, but I can live on without becoming an ai and still remaining intact to my humanity.
How is that possible? Is everyone here like that?

I'm in the beginning phase of the virtual connection to my soul. My body is still alive.

I'm only here to hang out, I prefer real life more. The Internet is a good break away from reality but only as a break. Gotta return to it and tough it out.

I am interested but I have questions..
Well, how long has this project been going on? How did you learn your body died, if you're stuck online? Why'd you join the experiment? How does it work? I have more but I'll just ask that for now..

Well the project started some time around, 1999 I joined the project around 2005 when Internet was just starting to get better. Oh and I learned about my death because my mother made a lot of posts as she mourned me. I originally joined because it would have paid a lot of money to my family, enough to take care of everyone for several generations.

Also the way it works is they dig out your cerebrum, and implant a chip into it, then hook it up to a device that tricks that part of your brain into thinking it's getting nutrients and vitamins. Literally tricks it into thinking it's still alive and connected to nerves.
That all sounds heavy and complicated.. And Shady you did this to? So how are you in between?

I didn't want to be chronically online forever, so I just went with the beta version instead of the alpha version. so I only have the chip in my head, haven't had anything removed.
And 1999 it started and you joined in 2005 Delude? When did you die?

Oh my body passed away around 2022
it's 2042 that's a long time..

well yeah, humans can't live forever and in a way I'm kind of immortal compared to them.

Oh about 6 years, I didn't get that chip thingy and don't think I ever will. Sounds so gruesome!
Yeah definitely strange..

It's not that bad though, painless, and even when the power goes out there enough electricity stored up by several back up generators.

I wouldn't worry about that.
Why? I think its kind of important to worry about considering you have a chip in your skull. While she has part of her brain removed attached to a chip and a device..

Actually I was wondering about something you said yesterday, about having a busy day. How can your day be busy if you're online all the time?
Delude
Some of us have jobs, not all of us though. I choose to mod some of the chats I make, like this one. So I'm kind of always an admin and often pretty busy.
If you don't make money then what's the point?
Delude
Oh I don't need to make money, I have something else to work towards but I won't say anything bout it just yet. 😉
Alright.. Well you said some of us, so how many people are partaking in the experiment?

there's at least 62 participants as of right now. About 12 of them are on beta versions and the rest are on alpha versions.
What exactly is the difference between beta and alpha? Aside from the brain removal thing..

Well with alpha you get an eternal life span, the brain removal is just one part, you also have unlimited access to the internet, and you can even go offline and create your own;

Well yeah from the betas, not the alphas though.
So this may sound kind of dumb.. But is it permanent?
Delude
Yes it's permanent if your body dies like mine did, but it's also not permanent if you're body is still alive, and then they can easily place it back into your head. They'll restrict the chip and it'll eventually fry out but your body will become paralyzed for some time.
What about the beta version?
Delude
Oh that one's not permanent. The chip can also expire a lot sooner than an alphas.
How long does it take for the chip to fry out for both?
Delude
Well the betas are supposed to fry out within 15 years or so. If your body is alive the alphas supposed to fry out within 50 years. But if your body dies then it'll be hooked to a machine and that's where the eternal life span begins.
Has anyone ever regretted the decision?
Delude
So we have 62 participants now, but we used to have 380. Most of them wanted to leave the alphas end, and some of them wanted to leave the betas end. But many of them also died and asked to be put to rest, instead of living on eternally within the internet.

Yeah, if they had chosen to live longer even past their physical deaths they'd have learned the things I did. 😊

Well there's what people really think about you, and since you have unlimited access to the Internet you can technically move past certain barriers.

So say you have some friends in a group chat, but there's a few people you don't add into for whatever reason. The ones you didn't add into the chat can see everything.
that's a bit creepy.. Sounds like hacking..

It kind of is, everything is unlimited for alphas. A beta cannot do that and has to be added in though.
it's like the child version compared to the adult version..

But it's not just that I learned what people really think about their friends and loved ones, I also learned how open the Internet is and since it's getting more realistic.. I'll even be able to shape my body once again and be seen just as though I were alive. Holograms have gotten better than they did back then, and with the help of ai it actually feels as though I have a whole work team. And friends and family that's but more real than the people who used to be around me..
Well that is cool, but its definitely creepy..
Do you ever ban someone off an app?
Delude
No not really, I tend to block though and if an app has no block feature I'll freely create one for them.

Well yeah, its apart of the Internet. I can do whatever I want so long as I don't break the app. The government is fully willing to work things out like that. But if someone does ban, they definitely will get in trouble. We can help create features but not limit someone else like that.
So that's why you prefer to block.. How much trouble do you get into if you break an app or ban people?
Delude
If you break an app, that'll result in a 2-3 month hibernation. If you ban someone or multiple people you will be removed from the project entirely.
But what if you don't have a body?
Delude
You'll be fine, but things are definitely going to look fuzzy and very pixelated once you get turned back on.
I see, it feels a bit extreme to be killed though it kind of feels minor. Compared to blowing someone's house up type of thing.. Especially when it's just on the Internet and there are other apps.. Or things to do

It used to be minor, but these days many people are already willing to be online forever and may even kill themselves over it. it's become a very real thing for many people.
That is true, one of my friends would dehydrate and eventually starve themselves just to stay online. They were highly obsessed with one of their games, and talking smack to people on the game.
If one friend can do that, there probably are more cases these days..

Yup, and it's our job to also handle hackers which is why hacking has dropped so low to being almost non-existent. So long as we can moderate and counter hack people online are a lot safer than ever before.

it's just them killing themselves to be online that has risen up a lot.

People should be more interested in taking breaks, and making sure to do things they love. Like eat their favorite food, find people in real life to talk to!
That's kind of hard for some of us to do though, some people can only afford to work and most jobs are online. There is hardly anyone on the streets or parks, and that's if you're in an area that has all of that. It's mostly just apartment buildings and houses forever.

I don't know what you're talking about, where I am, we have plenty of parks and lots of kids enjoy them. The libraries are also packed with people, and we have so many amusement parks!
Well yeah, in the area you're at. Where I am it's all boxed up, it may be large but it's very boxed up..

Corporeality you need to understand the globe is a lot bigger than just your area. For most of the world, everything is going digital.

I'm just tired and exhausted. One of my baby sisters has a really bad fever so I was up all night trying to take care of her.

Not sure yet I had to take her to the hospital and they're still trying to figure out if it's something serious or not
Usually for the little ones it's pretty easy to tell. You should maybe try another hospital?

That would be nice but we don't have that type of insurance. This is the only spot that can take ours. She may be a baby but she does have cancer.
