In the vast void, a white silhouette resembling a girl drifted aimlessly. Then the silhouette slowly started to gain consciousness, it immediately started looking around, confused as to why she was floating in the abyss.

“Where the hell am I?” She lifts her hand and inspects it. “Why the hell am I the color white?”

She tries to touch her hand, but it just passes through. “This is just weird.” Just then, a robotic voice interrupts her.

“Welcome to the afterlife, soul.”

She feels her now nonexistent heart begin to beat like crazy. “Afterlife? But how? I don’t even remember how I died.”

“You were in a car accident.”

“Car accident?”

“But… wait, I remember now. I was on my way to Taco Bell but got struck by a truck that ran a red light.” She frowns. “Great, why didn’t I die after getting and eating food?” She puts her hand on her forehead in disappointment.

“Soul, you have two options, y—” The voice is interrupted by her sigh of frustration.

“I used the mobile app, so I already paid for it. Ugh, money wasted.” She shrugs. “Well, that’s life—”

The voice coughs. “Oh, sorry, continue.”

“Soul, you have two options: you can either go to heaven or pick a card of fortune.”

“Well, what type of fortune do the cards contain?”

“You could either pick a card that gives you the chance to be reborn or transported. Depending on which card you pick, it might let you choose your family or decide how you look, among other things.”

She thinks for a moment. “I think I’ll take my chance at being reborn or transported.”

“As you wish.”

Out of nowhere, thousands of cards appear, floating around her.

“Go ahead.”

She closes her eyes, reaches for a random card, and opens her eyes to find herself holding a gold and black card. “What does this mean?”

“You are one lucky soul. You pulled the card that allows you not only to be transported to a universe of your choice but also grants you all the perks related to being transported.”

“Holy shit.” She kisses the card.

A screen immediately appears in front of her, showing her two options:

A - Transport into any known universe

B - Transport into any unknown universe

‘Well, it’d be fun to be transported into the Harry Potter universe, but how fun would it be to explore an unknown universe?’

“Have you decided yet?”

“Mmn, not yet.”

“Take your time.”

“You know what? Let fate decide. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe—”

Her finger lands on B.

The screen changes, now showing four options:

1. Gates containing monsters appearing on   Earth \(Modern times\)

2. Magic and Mythical races \(Medieval times\)

3. Cultivation World \(Ancient times\)

4. Normal World \(Roman times\)

“Oh, these are good,” she mutters, staring at her options intensely.

“Hey, mister robotic voice?”

“How may I assist you?” the voice responds.

“Are the universes I’ll be choosing from real or just made up for me?”

“These universes are real but not significant in the grand scheme, so they are used for souls who are good and lucky to live adventurous lives.”

“Okay, so would I be the only one transported to this universe?”

“Yes.”

She nods her head in disbelief. “This is way better than I expected.”

“Then I choose C.”

“Interesting, I would have thought you would have picked B, seeing how you were obsessed with Harry Potter.”

She smiles at his observation. “Yeah, but I thought it would be more interesting to be a cultivator.”

Once again, the screen changes:

“What the hell is this?”

“Don’t worry, the numbers just indicate how many cultivation realms there are in that universe.”

“Oh, okay, then let’s go with difficult.” She smiles and clicks the box to confirm.

The screen changes again, showing her a 3D model of her old body.

After looking over her new body for the hundredth time, she waits for the screen to change, but it stays the same.

She quickly frowns. “Are there no more perks?”

“You have one more perk.”

“Great, I was worried for a moment.”

“For your last perk, you can have five cheats. Tell me, what do you desire?”

Her nonexistent eyes widened. “Anything?”

“Almost anything.”

She decides to test the waters first. “Well then, for the first cheat, I wish for there to be an eleventh cultivation realm only for me, which is the realm I’d be in when I’m transported.”

“And here I thought you were the type to start from scratch.”

She rolls her eyes. “I’d like to live without the need to always be looking out for death.”

“Then I’ll grant your wish, but it’ll count as two cheats. Do you accept it?”

She smiles from ear to ear. “Of course.”

“Then quickly state the rest of your cheats.”

4. Appraisal \- Find out who is evil or good, etc.

“You are one ambitious soul. What is your goal for your new life?”

She smirks just thinking about it. “I wish to make my own sect.”

“Then I wish you the best, Alexandra.”

“Wait, you knew my name this who—”

Alexandra’s white silhouette disappears.

In the endless green forest lay a tall figure, dressed in a very distinct style. Their eyes slowly opened, revealing a sea-green color.

POV (Alex)

“Damn, when was the last time I slept so well?” I murmured, stretching my arms and legs. “Wait, what was I supposed to be doing?”

I stood up and stared at the sky, rubbing my eyes in confusion. “Yep, the sky definitely has two moons.” As I slowly regained my bearings, memories started to flood back.

I lifted my hand and stared at my lightly tanned skin. “Well, my skin color is the same, but I definitely grew taller.” I immediately began feeling my arms and legs. “Ha ha, muscle.”

Instinctively, I reached for my hat, but my fingers found nothing. “Wait, where is my hat?” I began searching the area where I had been lying, but it was nowhere to be found.

“System.”

“Yes, host?”

“Do you have my hat, or do you know where it is?”

“I do not possess it. I would have informed you if I did, but I can help you locate it.”

“Did somebody rob me? You would think they would also take my sword” I started tapping my foot impatiently. “Did you not see who took my hat?”

“I was activated at the same time you opened your eyes. I was not operational when it happened.”

“Then do your best to locate it.”

Suddenly, a pair of golden footprints appeared before me.

“Follow the golden footsteps,” the system instructed.

“Oh, fantastic.” I followed the glowing steps, winding deeper into the secluded forest.

“What the hell happened here?” I muttered upon arriving at a gruesome scene. Eight bodies were scattered on the blood-soaked ground.

“Looks like they were killed.”

“Yeah, I can tell,” I said, rolling my eyes. I approached cautiously, examining the scene.

“Was it a beast or a human?” I asked.

“Judging from the clean slashes and the location of the wounds, it appears to be done by humans,” the system responded.

“Did I make the right decision on coming here?” I tightened my grip on my sword, a sad smile creeping onto my face.

“Well, the other universes were just as chaotic and murderous.”

“Well, that’s life from no-”  I was cut off by a sudden movement from one of the bodies.

“Ew, is it coming back as a zombie?”

“Host, it appears someone survived the attack.”

A small figure, drenched in blood, struggled to stand. Clutched in their hand was—

“Wait, that’s my hat!”

I approached the child, who couldn't be more than three years old. Their wide eyes stared at me with caution.

“Hey there, little guy, would you mind giving me back my hat?”

The child looked at me, confused, and took a few steps back.

“System, do I not speak this world’s language?”

“My apologies, it seems I forgot to activate the universal translator.”

“How could you forget? You’re a system!”

I could hear the system scoff.

I then turned my attention back to the child. “Can you understand me now? I mean you no harm, I just want my hat back.” I pointed to his hand.

The child's eyes started to water, and he tightened his small fists around the rim of my hat.

“It’s simple, just take it from the child,” the system suggested.

“You’re cold-hearted.”

“I don’t possess a heart.”

Just as I was about to respond, the child tried to run away.

I quickly grabbed him, but he started shaking and his eyes looking at me with pure fear.

My heart tightened painfully. I put my arms around him, patting his back. “Calm down, child. No harm will come to you.”

He quickly fell asleep, and I gently pried my hat from his surprisingly strong grip.

I inspected my hat but saw no blood on it, even though the child’s hands and body were covered in it.

“Does my hat have a special ability?” I asked.

“It’s made from indestructible material, it never gets dirty,  you can always summon it back to you, etc.”

“Wow, that’s amazing. Wait, why didn’t you tell me I could’ve just summoned it back?”

“Did you not choose this hat yourself?”

“Uh, well...” I had been too excited about its appearance to look at its abilities. “Okay, that one’s on me.”

“What are you going to do with this child?”

I looked at the small child, who had clearly been left to die. “He will be my first disciple.”

Who would have thought I would meet my first disciple on my very first day in this universe?

“Should we burn the bodies of the deceased?”
