MY Last Days!! (Taekook)

Prologue-01

FANG (kim
FANG (kim's butler)
My lord, your fiancée, Lord Jeon has come to visit.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
What? Am I forgetting the date or something? I believe we still have a year left until our wedding day.🤨🤨
FANG (kim
FANG (kim's butler)
Yes, but... our guest is definitely Lord Jeon Jung-kook.
The man, who was busy doing paperwork, looked up with sharp eyes. He got up from his seat, clicking his tongue. Why on earth would he travel from the south all the way to the north without sending word in advance? His red eyes glared fiercely at the disruption.

DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Has he lost his mind? Even if we're engaged, how can he just come here on a whim without sending any letter to warn me of his arrival? 😡😡😒
Duke Kim Tae-hyung's words came out rather harshly, mostly because he had been pushed to his limits recently by the rising number of demonic monsters in the north.
His butler, Fang, followed him, while his face turned apprehensive.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Tsk, what on earth was Father thinking, arranging such an absurd marriage before passing away? I want to dig him up just so I can hear what he has to say for himself. 😒😒
the duke continued in a rant.
Shocked by his liege's disrespectful words, Fang was speechless. In reality, Tae-hyung was overworked and too busy dealing with the war against the demonic monsters to even think about dealing with his fiancée. Also, at this time of year, the estate required a lot of work to prepare everyone for the coming winter, so to hear the news of a surprise visit by his betrothed on top of all that...
He had not seen him since their simple engagement ceremony. He had seemed disinterested in Tae-hyung, and of course, the feeling was mutual.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
It would be difficult to call off the engagement now, wouldn't it?
Fang, who always had a repertoire of smart replies, did not speak.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Everyone is trying my patience.
Tae-hyung was feeling more angered than someone who had been without food or drink for five days. When he turned his glaring eyes around, he saw that Fang was looking toward the door, unable to take his eyes off his lord's fiancée. He was looking at Tae-hyung, his complexion paler than the last time he had seen him.
He must have heard everything. Tae-hyung clicked his tongue in his mind. He started to speak, thinking he should explain himself.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
What I said just now-
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Calling off the engagement sounds good. 🙂
he said, cutting him off.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
What...?🤨🤨
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
My Lord, our wedding is to be held in roughly a year, right?
Standing slantingly, Tae-hyung crossed his arms and listened to what he had to say. He decided to listen to him despite his growing annoyance. He had already been feeling quite resentful, having not slept for three nights in a row because of his paperwork backlog. The dark shadows under his eyes confirmed his exhaustion.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
To cut to the chase, I would like to stay here for about six months, maybe ten.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Have you lost your mind, Omega? 💢
He was honestly baffled that he spit out the first words that came to him. A nobleman should never use such crass language, but he had to ask him.
Jung-kook flung his dull brown hair around her neck. His deep blue eyes looked straight into Tae-hyung's red ones.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
In return, I will break the engagement when I leave.🙂🙂
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Don't tell me you ran away from home, at your age?😑😑
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
At my age, it's natural to leave my home to get married.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
It's less than a year. It'll more likely be six months and won't be longer than ten months. I see you have an annex building and I am fine with staying there. I don't need to stay in the main building. As you can see, I brought nothing with me. Ah, I did bring the document to betrothal nullification documents.
With his pale hands, turned red from the cold, he pulled out a piece of paper from a ragged fabric bag. His hands were red because he had not been wearing gloves.
Taehyung's face crinkled up. Where did he even get that rag of a bag that looks like it belongs in the garbage?
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Is the count having financial problems?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
pardon?
Jungkook asked back in surprise. He followed his gaze and saw him staring at the fabric bag. Suddenly understanding, he shook his head. He had bought the bag for cheap from somebody who was about to throw it out.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I would have been in trouble if I had carried an expensive bag traveling all the way up here.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
How did you even travel this far?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I paid for a carriage, then walked for a bit, and again got on a carriage or traveled with merchants.
Count Jeon's estate was at the edge of the southern lands. The count rarely came out to the capital, which meant that he had traveled from the furthest place in the south to the northernmost territory. Even with a personal carriage, it takes at least a month to cover the distance. Tae-hyung scowled again and asked
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
When did you leave?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I left two months ago.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
What, and you didn't even bother to contact me even once? Wait... Before that, why would a noble person, who knows nothing of the world, travel such dangerous roads?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
This will probably be my first and last journey......
Jungkook's words were puzzling. A cold breeze blew in through the wide-open door of the mansion. He glanced at the colorful fallen leaves.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
For once, I wanted to do something on my own, let my own feet carry me.
The trip had been the first thing that he had decided to do on his own. He didn't have much time left, and he wanted to spend it doing what he wanted.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Last journey?
Taehyung's expression turned dark. Well, it wouldn't make sense for a noble man to go on such a reckless journey more than once. He shook his head. Thank goodness nothing happened because it would've been terrible if something had happened.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
So, may I please stay here?
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
What if I say no?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I did think of a backup plan. Perhaps I should start working for a merchant as a lowly staff member and travel along...
He had given it some thought but honestly, he knew his physical health wasn't up to it.
Perhaps it was the cold wind of the north, but he'd found that he had been fainting from time to time ever since he had entered the northern territory. He wanted to stay here in peace, paint, go on short trips to nearby attractions, and prepare for his final days.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Huh!
Taehyung was left speechless. Including his bold speech, Jung-kook's attitude was completely different from the last time he had seen him. It was like he was a different person.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
* he shrugged at his reaction * That potential plan was really just my wild imagination at work because I didn't think my lord would decline my offer.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
How so?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Because my lord dislikes me. Since the moment we met at the engagement ceremony, your eyes spoke of how much I fell short of your liking.
While Taehyung was baffled, he continued speaking proudly.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I am good at recognizing that sort of thing. So I didn't think you would pass up this opportunity.
Jung-kook waved the paper in front of him. Tae-hyung glared at the reddened fingers holding it and then glanced over at him. Regardless of his feelings, it wasn't like he could keep a guest on his doorstep.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Step inside first.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Thank you. You won't even know that I'm here. And when I am gone one day, just think that I have gone back to where I came from. I will no longer be your burden.
Taehyung sighed at Jung-kook's words. His guilt was swelling up as he took in his pale, lifeless complexion, but there wasn't any reason for him to feel guilty. He felt all of this was a bit unfair, so he glared at Jungkook again.
He hadn't made it obvious, but he must have been cold, as he was shivering, Tae-hyung swallowed the words he was about to say.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Fang, get a decent room for him now. And tell the maids to prepare a bath.
FANG (kim
FANG (kim's butler)
Yes, my lord.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
The lord will speak more after he freshens up.
Jung-kook followed after the smartly-dressed Fang, leaving behind his host, who was looking at him suspiciously. Tae-hyung glanced over at his back and headed straight to his office. There was a pile of paperwork that he still needed to get through.

COUNT JEON
COUNT JEON
Lia, you look like you're feeling better today. What a relief.
Count Jeon said, leading his family in a conversation that included the youngest twins of the family and their mother.
JEON ABELIA
JEON ABELIA
It's all thanks to my parents getting good medicine for me. *said laughing*😄😄
JEON FELDON
JEON FELDON
Yuck, whatever you're taking was too bitter for me. 🤢🤢🤢
COUNTESS JEON
COUNTESS JEON
Fel, Lia isn't healthy like you. She needs to take it even though it's bitter.
Their mother scolded them.
JEON ENPHRIC
JEON ENPHRIC
☺️☺️*eating*
Jungkook looked around at his family. Sitting right next to Count Jeon was Enphric-the firstborn and the heir to the title- smiling as he listened to the conversation. Enphric was a master of both literature and swordsmanship. Everyone thought he was already ready to become the next count. Next were the young twins, Abelia and Feldon, who were lovely and made everyone smile. The children smiled ever so brightly at Jungkook, and he loved them, even if he wasn't the most affectionate brother.
Sometimes he could not hold himself back from feeling jealous of them-it was a strange feeling. Count Jeon's family was beautiful, that's what Jungkook was thinking as he looked at the bright blond hair, beautiful red hair, and blue eyes of his family members around the table.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
☁️☁️I used to wonder why only I had dull brown colored hair.☁️☁️
: ☁️☁️.......☁️☁️ → Inner thought.
He later learned that he had inherited his hair color from one of his great-grandparents. It was something he was deeply bitter about.
Jungkook picked at his salad for a bit and then put her fork down. He didn't feel well and didn't think he could eat anymore. He cleansed his palate with a sip of water and stood up.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
May I be excused? I'm done with dinner.😐
COUNTESS JEON
COUNTESS JEON
Yes, you may.
At least he got his mother to reply. Everyone else was busy talking and didn't pay any attention to Jungkook. Mother turned her attention to Abelia and Feldon. Ignored again, Jungkook did what he always did, he put his head down and took off.
He was walking down the hallway and rubbing his chest to soothe its tightness when he felt his stomach churn. He took a deep breath and looked around then continued to walk with his shoulders held high as if nothing had happened.
With no one following him, he walked down the familiar hallway to head to the second floor, but that only lasted for a second. Before he could reach the top of the stairs, he felt something claw its way up her throat. Jungkook had to cover his mouth and run to the bathroom inside his room.
He leaned and with a retching sound, he emptied his stomach of the little food that he had managed to keep down. After rushing to flush down the remnants of the food he had forcefully vomited, he walked over to her bed with heavy step. It felt like all his life energy had left him.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Nobody told me it would get this bad this quickly. 😣😣
Jung-kook thought to himself frustratingly.
A few days before, he had sneaked out of the mansion to see a well-known doctor.
~~~A FEW DAYS AGO~~~
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
I'm sorry to say this, but I don't even know how your organs are still functioning at this point.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Is it that bad?
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
Yes, honestly I'm amazed that you can even walk. If you were healthy before and the decline was abrupt, we can suspect the "Art disease".
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Art disease...?🧐🧐
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
There are some people who are born with artistic gifts that can make 'miracles' happen. And sometimes those artistic gifts use their life energy to give them this great power.
He was living a quiet life as a supporting character in his family's lives, so how unfair was it for death to just show up his doorstep like this? He thought the world was awfully unfair. But there wasn't anything he could do about it.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
You make miracles happen too, don't you?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
.......
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Yes. *he said after a short pause*
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
You would've felt your health decline after using your gift. Have you not had any routine health checkups? Usually, people blessed with miracle-making gifts are supposed to get health checks regularly.
He did not reply.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
This wouldn't have happened if you'd known about it earlier.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Is that so?
The doctor had hit the nail with his words, and he could only nod blankly. Jung-kook had never thought that the miracles he made would eat away his life force. He quietly put his hand over his forehead. It was out of sheer spite that he had never let people know about his talent.
His pride and spitefulness made him hide it. He hated that people didn't listen properly when he first tried to tell them about it. Later though, it was because he was consumed with worry.
He knew that the family would have paid attention to him if they knew about his talent, but then he could never have been sure if they valued him for who he was or only for his gift, so he kept it secret. He hadn't known that it would backfire like this.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
You said you had anemia and were coughing up blood? And that your digestion is often poor and you've been throwing up?
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Yes.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
That's quite bad. It's not easy to say this but... with your body like this, you have a year left at best. Honestly, a year is a long shot considering how rapidly your condition will decline if you continue to be unable to eat.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I understand.
The elderly doctor-with his bright, clear eyes and white coat- looked after commoners for low prices at his humble clinic, but he didn't doubt his diagnosis.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
Wait, you're not going to ask me to find a way to save you. I thought you would ask.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Is there a way to save me?
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
No, not that I've heard of yet.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
No, not that I've heard of yet.
Jungkook just nodded at his words, left his payment of two gold coins, and turned away. The doctor looked at the gold coins he left and sighed. His words were puzzling as he spoke to him (jk) retreating form.
DOCTOR
DOCTOR
*sigh* Perhaps we can buy you more time, so do come back if you have a change of heart.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
...........
Jungkook didn't pay too much attention to his words and left the small clinic. The conversation with the doctor had struck him like a bolt out of the blue. He had only come to this doctor, who didn't work for the Jeon estate, because he had recently felt his health worsening at an alarming pace.
~~Present time~~
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Well, the reason why I couldn't see the estate doctor was that......
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
It wasn't because I was afraid that my family would find out and worry about me. I just didn't trust the estate doctor.
Although the count's doctor was young, he was competent and professional. However, from what he has seen of him, he did not hesitate to lie when necessary now and again. Also, he cherished Abelia like she was his own little sister.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Maybe this is a stretch, but if he thinks that my sickness will shock Abelia.....
Jungkook thought he would lie about his (jk) condition if he considered that the news would upset his little sister....
He rubbed his chest and sat by the window, feeling a little better after vomiting. Her skin looked even paler under the sun. A bird, flying high in the sky, caught his eyes. It flew over to a tree and sat down on a branch.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I wish I had wings too.
He wanted to fly as he pleased before his last day came. He had things he wanted to do before he died. Seething desire coursed through him, making him shiver.
In reality, it wasn't that Jungkook was unloved. His parents always tried to be fair. But one child was sick and another one was young and needy. There were times when it was hard for their parents to be fair and Jungkook was stuck in the middle of everything.
One of the Jeon's twins was a sickly child. The other twin was a wild thing that came home injured often. On top of that, Jungkook wasn't even Count Jeon's heir-that was his older brother-so when he behaved well, the attention he got was more short- lived than a grain of sand hitting the ground. After everything. Jungkook started to think of it as....
"ATTENTION WORTH NOT HAVING"
The world seemed to revolve around the Jeon's they often found fortune along their path, while Jungkook only found hurdles in his. He loved the twins but he was jealous of them-they were born from the same mother into the same household but had drastically different lives. His jealously and hatred made him feel ugly, and that they were his siblings made it even harder for him.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
This is the end of me.
He had sort of seen this coming when he'd started to cough up blood.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Should I just take off?
Jungkook had to force himself to smile whenever he was at home. He had to be the mature and calm one who takes care of himself, the brother with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone. Now that his days were numbered, he didn't want to keep up those pretenses.
He couldn't even imagine how his family would react. If he found out his family considered him a hassle, he would never be able to recover from the pain. Jungkook did not feel one bit like telling his family about it.
He didn't even have the strength to scream that he wanted to live. Nobody came to his room and it had been a long time since anyone had. He had said he could take care of himself, so nobody thought to look after him.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
If I leave, where can I go? What should I do...?
Jungkook pondered as he leaned his head onto the window, sitting on the windowsill.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
I have one year at most.
It will go by quickly, unlike the twenty years he'd lived so far. Stuck in the middle between his older brother who was always good at everything and the lovely twins who were always doted on, Jungkook had never received recognition. He needed someone to see him for who he was. It didn't matter if that person liked or disliked him. He needed someone who would see him as a person.
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
DUKE KIM TAE-HYUNG
Is the omega a spineless jellyfish? If you don't have the will, you should not have come here at all. This engagement wouldn't have happened if you had declined the offer.
At their engagement day tae said this to him.
Suddenly, he remembered his first encounter with his fiancé, a man that looked like God had spent too much time making him look perfect. His face was too beautiful for words and he spoke cutting words to him (jk)from beneath his furrowed brow.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Come to think of it, he didn't decline the engagement offer either.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
At the time, I couldn't utter a single word in response to his repeated attacks, but now that I thought back about it, hadn't I been right?
The window reflected his big dou blue eyes. Even to himself, his skin looked paler than before-the anemia was getting worse. He was lucky that he didn't need to move too much in his daily life, or somebody would have discovered his illness.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Maybe I should travel to the north.
All on his own, with no one's help. His hard-pressed lips opened up.
JEON JUNG-KOOK
JEON JUNG-KOOK
Time to go.
He didn't put too much thought or time into the matter. He decided to go to the north alone.
