A Loving Marriage

Lin Yan looked at her side and watch her husband as he sleeps. Marrying Li Jun has been the best decision of her life, even though she has not been able to give him a child in their three years of marriage and that has always made her feel that she was not good enough for him.

Li Jun who has always been a light sleeper, felt someone gaze on him, he opened his eyes and saw his wife staring at him. With the look in her eyes he knew what she was already thinking "Why aren't you asleep?" he asked.

Lin Yan blushed and said "I love looking at you instead. I think watching you sleep is now my favorite hobby."

Li Jun chuckled and hugged her "I love you and I don't mind if we adopt."

Lin Yan became stilled at his words, she has wondered how he knew what she was always thinking, she felt tears slipped from her eyes and hugged Li Jun tightly as she whispered "I love you too. I'm sorry."

"No need to be sorry. Now go to sleep, remember we need to go the old house tomorrow." Li Jun kissed her forehead lovingly and Lin Yan ended falling asleep in her husband hands and after ensuring that Lin Yan was asleep, Li Jun picked up his phone and saw a picture of a five years girl sleeping and written under the picture was 'Your daughter missed you.'

The Li family is known to be the richest family in Country D and is known to be have even the country economy in their hands. No president is elected without their approval and marrying into their family is seem as a ticket to heaven.

Lin Yan sigh as she entered the old house, she gave her gift to the bulter and was led to the dinning table where almost all the Li family were gathered waiting for the rest members to arrived.

"You are late." This word was said by Wang Hua, Li Jun mother.

The Wang family was also one of the top family in country D until the Wang family was faced with a huge bankruptcy situation and getting married to the Li family was the only way out. It was an arranged marriage and even though Wang Hua and Li Rui have been married for so many years with two kids, every member of the family knew that there was no love between them.

Lin Yan looked at her mother-in-law and bowed her head slightly as she said "I'm sorry mother, I was just busy."

"Busy with what? it's not as if you even have a child to make you busy. I wonder what spell you have cast on my son that has made him to not divorce you and take another wife who will be able to carry on this family legacy."

Lin Yan bowed her head in shame and tried her best to swallow the tears that was about to come out from her eyes because of her mother-in-law words. She was supposed to have been used to it by now, but been reminded every time by her mother-in-law still hurts.

"That's enough." Old master Li said, he looked at Lin Yan coldly and said "I don't even want a great grand child from a woman who can not defend herself from a bully."

Wang Hua clenched her fist when she realized that Old master Li was calling her a bully. She looked at her husband hoping he would at least defend her but she saw him trying to hold his laughter.

Lin Yan sat down and look at the remaining three empty chairs, she knew even if Li Jun came no one would still eat until the old master beloved grandson and great-grand daughter comes in and just then she heard a childish chirpy voice screaming "Grandpa!"

Old master Li stood up from his chair and carry the little child that was running towards him.

"No running Li Xiao" Lin Ya felt chills when she heard that voice. A voice that is always cold but has a bit of softness whenever it refers to his daughter.

Old master Li went back to his seat with Li Xiao on his Lap and then he glare at Li Lingyun and said "You are late"

Li Lingyun sigh unfazed by the cold glare of his grand father as he said "I would have been earlier if your great grand daughter would have bathed instead of playing with the water."

Seeing Li Lingyun like this, one would think he is an easy going person but everyone sitting on this table knew how terrifying this man was. The outsiders still think that the Li family is controlled by Old master Li but everything is a lie, the real master of the Li family is Li Lingyun.

The Old master Li gave birth to two sons Li Hong Lei and Li Qi.

Li Hong Lei got married to the only daughter of the Meng family, Meng Xing and for so many years they were without child, when Meng Xing was pregnant with Li Lingyun, they all felt it was a miracle, after all she was already old.

When Li Lingyun was five years old he lost his parents in a car accident, so he was bought up by Old master Li.

Li Qi on the other hand became the president of the Li Corporation when Li Hong Lei died. Two years later, his wife Su Mei died from lung cancer, leaving behind a boy and a girl which were Li Rui and Li Xin. Li Qi has always been strict and no doubt after his wife passed away, he raised Li Rui and Li Xin with a iron fist, but even with that Li Rui was not ambitious as his father but fortunately his son Li Jun was.

Li Qi was disappointed that his only son was a disappointment, afraid his daughter would turn the same way, he planned to married her to a member of the Tang family, Li Xin who refused to marry a man she did not love ended up killing herself.

Li Rui has always blamed his father for his sister death and at that point, he turned to liquor and gambling to ease the pain of losing his sister until he became addicted to the lifestyle.

Li Qi only Joy was that both his daughter-in-law and grandson was ambitious as him. He was a strict man who hated weaklings, he was greedy and wish to one day control the whole of the Li family but that wish was crushed when Li Lingyun kicked him out of the president seat and became the new president of Li corporation but Li Qi was still able to make his grandson, Li Jun the vice president of Li Corporation.

"Where is that wife of yours?" Old master Li asked.

"Mama is not feeling well so she had to stay behind." Li Xiao said when she heard them talking about her mother.

Li Lingyun carried Li Xiao from his grandfather and place her on a seat beside him.

Looking at the cute little girl, Lin Yan heart ache to have her own child, her own little baby. She felt pity for Li Xiao, every one knew that she was not loved by her mother but she craved her mother's love and attention and at that moment Lin Yan wished Li Xiao was her daughter, she would no doubt spoil her with all the love and attention a mother could give.

Feeling a cold stare at her, Lin Yan gaze met Li Lingyun and she immediately bowed her head.

Old Master Li cleared his throat and look at the bulter standing beside him and said "You may serve the food now."

The bulter nodded and left.

"You waited for Li Lingyun but you can't wait for Li Jun?" Wang Hua spoke up seeing the injustice in the situation. She felt as if the old man does not value her son at all and she hated it.

"I never knew your son was so important for me to wait for him and besides can you take the responsibility if Li Xiao starts crying because she is hungry."

Wang Hua glare angrily at Lin Yan, she felt that if she had a grandson then maybe the old man wouldn't have been so cold to her. Why did her son had to marry this fruitless woman.

Lin Yan could feel her mother-in-law eyes on her and she knew what Wang Hua was thinking but to her relief Li Jun came in. He greeted Old master Li and all his elders before sitting beside Lin Yan.

"You are late" This time it was Li Lingyun who said this. It has been a tradition for the Li family to always have a meal in the old house every weekends.

Li Jun looked at his uncle with a calm gaze and said "I was busy."

"You know Li Jun is a busy man, he just didn't manage his time well. Perhaps if he had a capable wife and one who doesn't just eat away his money then I am sure he wouldn't have come late. But it is a good thing he came before the food was served." Wang Hua said as she defend her son. She knew her useless husband wouldn't do it.

Once the food was served, everyone began eating in silence, until Lin Yan felt a vibration on her phone, she opened it and saw it was a message from an unknown number.

'How well do you know your husband?' Lin Yan read the message and wondered who sent it, her phone vibrated again and it show a picture of Li Jun hugging a little girl who seem to be five years old.

Chapter 2

I Wish You Were My Mother

It was night time, although it was tradition for the whole family to stay at the old house during the weekend, Li Lingyun told the old master that he could not stay for the night.

"Why not?" Old master Li asked with a frown.

"I have to travel for a business deal tonight."

"I wonder how you grew up this way, you care for nothing apart from business not even for your old man anymore."

"Stop exaggerating grandpa. And besides don't you think this tradition is getting old already. You forced people who don't like each other to have dinner together."

"How dare you speak to your grandfather like that?" Li Qi said coldly

"I don't need you to defend me. Anyway you can leave but Li Xiao is staying with me till you come back from your business trip."

Li Lingyun looked at Li Xiao who was busy playing with the maid and immediately disagree "Li Xiao is a naughty child, I don't think you will be able to keep up with her wits."

Old Master Li lift up his stick and used it to hit Like Lingyun leg as he said "Are you calling me old? Don't forget I was the one who raised you."

"Uncle, Great grandfather is right, Li Xiao can stay here and we will all look after her while you are on your business trip and besides I am sure we can take better care of her more than Shen Yi."

Shen Yi, the adopted daughter of the Shen family and wife of Li Lingyun. She hated her daughter because she felt she could no longer continue her dream of being an actress because of Li Xiao. Force to keep her pregnancy and even married a man known to be terrifying made her bitter and hateful towards the father and daughter.

Li Lingyun eyes darkened at the mention of Shen Yi and then he looked at Lin Yan and asked "Can I trust you with the safety of my daughter?"

Lin Yan was shocked on why Li Lingyun will asked her that and besides she was still thinking about the picture and message that was sent to her by the unknown number and then she felt that taking care of Li Xiao will help her get her mind off of some things.

Lin Yan smiled and nodded "Yes, you can trust me with Li Xiao."

Li Lingyun stared at Lin Yan for a few seconds before smiling, he walked towards his daughter and kissed her forehead.

"Be a good girl to your aunt. Daddy will be back tomorrow." His voice was so gentle and sweet and even his eyes scream affection as he looked at his daughter. And at this point Lin Yan started to wonder if Li Jun was not mistaken, how can this man be known as a terrifying person.

"Li Xiao will be a good girl." Replied Li Xiao will her childish and cute voice.

Li Lingyun smiled and bowed slightly before old master Li as a sign of respect before leaving the old house. When he was in his car, his assistant Gu Wei began his report of his schedule.

Li Lingyun listened with his eyes closed and suddenly interrupted his Gun Wei when he asked "What do you think of Li Jun and Lin Yan marriage?"

Gu Wei was silent at first after all the question caught him by surprise and he wondered why his boss is suddenly curious about his nephew marriage. "Well i don't really know what to say, if it was before I would say that their marriage is one of love but after finding out that young master Li Jun have a daughter with his ex girlfriend and have been having an affair with her for almost a year, I would say Lin Yan is too naive."

"Is she? I think she is smart and the only reason she let the Li family walk over her is because of her love for Li Jun."

"But why are you suddenly interested in Lin Yan? Could it be that..." Gu Wei couldn't complete his statement because of the terrifying look Like Lingyun gave to him.

"Drive to the house, I left an important document there."

Back at the old house.

Lin Yan tucked Li Xiao on her bed, even though it wasn't hers, Lin Yan felt that she was a mother when she played with Li Xiao today, she told her many stories and still Li Xiao has refused to sleep.

"Why won't you sleep? Are you missing your dad?"

Li Xiao shook her head and said "I wish you were my mother."

Lin Yan felt her heart soften and smiled "Even though your mom doesn't show it, I am sure she loves you but has not realized it yet."

There were times she felt that Li Xiao knew more than what a three years old should but perhaps that was the effect of not being love by her mother.

"Then when will she realized it?" Li Xiao asked with misty eyes. She could not understand why her mother did not love her.

"Do you love Li Xiao?"

Lin Yan smiled and said "Of course I do. Li Xiao is so cute. It's already late, go to sleep."

Li Xiao nodded obediently and closed her eyes.

Sun Villa

Li Lingyun entered into his room and was surprised when he saw Shen Yi, he looked at his supposed wife coldly and asked "What are you doing in my room?"

"I heard from the servants that you were coming back so I decided to wait for you here. I am glad you did not bring that little brat with you." Shen Yi said with a smile.

"What are you doing in my room?" Li Lingyun asked again with a menacing look in his eyes.

Seeing that look made Shen Yi tremble but she knew he wouldn't be able to do anything to her after all she was still the mother of his beloved daughter. "I want you to sign this." Shen Yi said as she handed a document to him.

Li Lingyun looked through the documents and his gaze became darker and colder as he said "You want me to invest my money in your lover. Have you lost your mind?"

"Mu Chen is a great actor in the movie industry and I am sure that you won't lose money if you invest in his movie." Shen Yi replied arrogantly.

"Why are you looking at me so coldly, is it wrong if I want to help someone I love. I mean this is the least you can do for me after forcing me to give birth to that brat."

"Call my daughter that again and I will make you lose your tongue."Li Lingyun warned coldly but both him and Shen Yi knew that it wasn't just a threat. Shen Yi knew that this man could actually do it

"This is the reason I can never love you. You are so cold and terrifying. You pretend to be a loving father to Li Xiao but I am sure that if Li Xiao would see this side of you then even she would hate you. I don't want to argue with you tonight, just sign it. One billion Yuan is a small amount of money to you anyway."

Li Lingyun walked closer to Shen Yi and grabbed her chin tightly as he said "If I sign this then you must do something for me in return. Just for a day, show Li Xiao that she has a mother love."

Shen Yi was currently terrified, with Li Lingyun hands grabbing her chin, she could possibly feel his cold aura all around her. But she knew he wouldn't do anything to her, so she steel her self and said "Why should I do? Why do I have to stomach your daughter for 24hrs? Why do I have to pretend that I love her when seeing her constantly reminds me of the things I had to give up because you didn't want me to abort. You know, Li Xiao has been asking me why I hated her, maybe it is time to tell her what a mistake she is?"

Shen Yi immediately felt air leaving her, as she felt Li Lingyun tight hold on her neck and then she heard his menacing and cold dark voice as he whispered to Shen Yi ears "Do that I will snap your neck right now. You shouldn't test your luck, the only reason you are still alive today is because Li Xiao still crave for your affection but the moment she stops, then I advise you to run far away from here, even from this country because I will spare nothing to make your life miserable before ending it." He then took a pen from his drawer and signed the document.

Shen Yi quickly took the document from his hands and said "Since you hate me so much why don't you just sign the divorce papers. Then I can finally be with the one I love."

"You love no one but yourself Shen Yi. And I will never allow my daughter to be mocked as someone who came from a broken family. If you were to leave Li Xiao life then it wouldn't be through a divorce, it would be the presentation of your dead body." Li Lingyun took the document he came for and left.

Shen Yi on the other hand knew he wasn't joking, the only thought on her mind was for how to escape but how can she escape from a man who has the country at the palm of his hands.

Pregnant and dead

One Month Later

"Congratulations Mrs Li, you are pregnant."

Those words were what the doctor said to her, she couldn't believe it. Lin Yan thought the reason for her dizziness and discomfort was because of stomach poisoning but never did she expect that she would be pregnant.

"Are you sure?" Lin Yan asked, she did not know if she could take it if the doctor made a mistake.

The doctor smiled and said "Yes I am hundred percent sure that you are pregnant and if you want you could do a scan to hear the baby's heartbeat."

Lin Yan walked out of the hospital with so much happines and excitement in her, she could not wait to tell Li Jun that they were having a baby. Yes! She could finally make Li Jun a father.

Lin Yan decided to go to his office instead of waiting for him at home. She drove to Li corporation and greeted the receptionist.

The receptionist smiled when she saw her, after all everyone knew that she was the wife of their vice president.

"Welcome Madam, I will inform Vice President Li that you are here."

Lin Yan smiled and shook her head as she said "No need. I will like to give him a surprise so please don't let him know that I am here."

Lin Yan was grateful for the receptionist co-operation and went ahead to Li Jun office. She opened the door slightly and at that moment she wished she hadn't come then maybe she would never have seen what she was seeing right now.

Tears slipped from her eyes as she heard the woman moans as Li Jun kissed her so passionately. Lin Yan wanted to run away from there and keep believing that her husband loves only her and would never cheat, but what was the use, her baby deserve better. With that thought, she opened the door forcefully.

Li Jun wondered who would dare to enter his office without even knocking and was stunned when he saw that it was his wife Lin Yan.

"Lim Yan, what are you doing here." He asked coldly with no remorse or emotion.

Seeing Li Jun like this made Lin Yan for the first time doubt if she truly knew the man she got married to.

"I caught you cheating and the first question you asked is' what are you doing here?'" She looked at the woman who had a disravel look because of the make out session she was having with Li Jun before she interrupted. "And who is she?"

"Oh me? I am the woman who gave your husband something that you will never give to him." the woman replied proudly.

"What do you mean by that?" Lin Yan asked.

"Fang Min be quiet." Li Jun warned coldly.

Fang Min ignored Li Jun cold tune and looked at Lin Yan as she said "Have you forgotten the picture you received one month ago. That little girl you saw Li Jun hugging is our daughter." Then she placed her hands on her stomach as she continued "And very soon, I will give a son."

Lin Yan shook her head in denial and said "That isn't true. You are lying." Lin Yan looked at Li Jun who was suddenly quiet and asked "Why aren't you saying anything."

Li Jun looked at Lin Yan and asked "Why did you come here without saying anything? Why?"

"Why don't you just leave. The Li family doesn't welcome you. The only reason Li Jun got married to you was because he just wanted to get revenge on me. He wanted me to see that he could live without me and now that he knows the real reason I left we are going to come back together again."

"Leave" Li Jun suddenly said.

Fang Min smirked at Lin Yan as she said "You heard him, he said you should leave."

"Get out of my office Fang Min right now."

The smirk on her face disappeared as she gave Li Jun a disapprove look. She scoffed as she took her bag and left the office.

After Fang Min left, Li Jun looked at Lin Yan and said "I love you Lin Yan I truly do. My relationship with Fang Min does not have to affect us."

"You have a five years old daughter with her and she is currently pregnant with your second child and yet you say it means nothing."

"Fang Min was my ex girlfriend, I have known her even before I met you and i never knew I had a child until a year ago."

"Then you have been seeing her for a year now. You have been lying to me for a year. How could I have been so dumb." Lin Yan took a deep breath and said "I want a divorce."

Li Jun face darkened immediately as he said "No, we are not divorcing."

"You can't tie me down, we don't even have kids and I definitely don't want your money so yes we are getting a divorce."

"And have you thought of Lin An. Recently his business has been facing some challenges, almost on the brick of declaring bankruptcy, you and I know that I am the only one who can help him."

Lin Yan looked at Li Jun in disbelief as he asked "Are you threatening me right now?"

"The Lin family would be nothing if I didn't get married to you, I saved you Lin Yan, I saved you and your brother from leaving a wretched life."

"I never knew I owned you so much. My brother doesn't need you and I definitely do not need you and people were wrong. You are worst than Li Lingyun, at least your uncle doesn't hide his real identity from people and that is why no matter what you do, you will never measure up to him. He will always be far better than you."

'Pak'

Lin Yan couldn't believe it, Li Jun just slapped her, but for some reason she wasn't surprised. At this point she wasn't surprised about anything that comes from this man.

"You know I hate it Lin Yan, you know I hate it anytime I am being compare to my uncle. And you are wrong, I am better than Li Lingyun and very soon not only will grandpa see it but the whole world will. You want a divorce, then fine I will give you a divorce but remember this without me you are nothing."

At this point Lin Yan couldn't help the tears that fell from her eyes. She walked out of the Li corporation in a daze and before she could realized anything she was already hit by a car.

Lin Yan felt her life leaving her and the only thing she could think about was her baby. Why did all this happened to her, why was she betrayed by the one she loved and what would happen to her brother. Thinking about Lin An she remembered how he begged her not to marry Li Jun, that he was not the man she think he was. He had told her that under that warm and innocent look lies was a terrifying and cold man, if only she had listened. Lin Yan clutched her stomach and repeatedly apologize to her unborn child before she took her last breath.
