The store's door closed after my exit. The cold wind immediately greeted me.
I just bought grocery which is good for a week.)
I let out a heavy sigh before starting the long trek.
The city is a bit far from my abode, which is why it's difficult for me to buy necessities.
I'm currently unemployed, so a bus ride for me is expensive given that it's just a walking distance.
Looking at the bright side, I'm not only saving money, I also get to exercise my body.
Living alone and not having any siblings nor family to rely on, life can be pretty hard.
My parents died in a car accident...
Given that they're the only family I had, I couldn't accept the truth.
I got so depressed to the point of hallucinating.
The hallucinations only occur when an intense wave of emotion engulfs my body, drowning my brain, blurring my ability to distinguish the borders of reality and imagination.
I never had to worry about my financial state, due to my parents leaving me a moderate sum of wealth.
This includes the house and land where I now reside by myself.
This is also the reason why I don't really have expenses such as rent, I only need to worry about my necessities.
While being preoccupied by my thoughts, I just realized that I'm already standing at the entrance of the alley.
This is the shortest route heading to my house.
The eerie aura this alley emmits gives me goosebumps, but I'd rather go through this path than taking the long road.
I swallowed my fear before I decided to enter the alley.
While walking, a sudden sound surprised me triggering my fear to break from my grasp.
The dreadful feeling dominated the iota of courage I had lef, pushing my heart to beat faster.
The paranoid thoughts of being followed and watched from behind didn't help at all.
From walking slowly, I started taking huge steps.
I halted when my gaze locked on an ominous shadow slowly fading-in on the other end.
The fuliginous smoke completely manifested into a silhoutte of a bizzarre creature.
Petrified yet trembling, I stared at it while my heart whinges for me to run.
I mumbled feebly as it's head slowly shifted towards me, locking our eyes.
I wanted to run and shout for help, yet my body wouldn't let me.
The monstrous shadow finally decided to run towards me on all four.
The fear intensified, locking my feet to the ground.
My rampaging heart goes wilder, as it gets closer.
I close my eyes in hopes that this will help calm myself, yet it did not.
Zerin
This is just a hallucination.
I took heavy breaths slowly stabilizing my breathing, while repeating the phrase.
The vividness of what I just saw opposes the idea of calmness.
Accepting my demise, I waited for it to devour me, yet nothing happened.
???
Hey, are you alright!?
Unexpectedly, instead of dying, I heard someone.
I open my eyes expecting to have a face-to-face conversation with the creature, yet it's gone.
Instead, there's a blue-haired guy staring at me with his cerulean eyes, while wearing a wide smile.
Well this is awkward, given he has an attractive face which made me flustered under his gaze.
???
Hiiii! What are you doing in this alley?
???
It's dangerous in here, especially at night!
He greeted me full of enthusiasm, he tried to hide his excitement, yet he's not doing a great job in doing so.
Zerin
This is a shortcut to my house.
???
Should I accompany you? You look scared.
Zerin
I appreciate the thought, but you don't have to.
Zerin
Don't you need to go home too? I dark already.
???
W-well, this alley is also a shortcut to where I live.
This is the first time I encounter him although he said that he also uses this path.
Maybe because I only go out once a week or month to buy necessities in the city.
Zerin
How long have you been taking this route?
???
I just discovered this alley recently, so not that long.
That makes sense why I just met him. He doesn't seem a bad person, my instincts tell me.
I'll just let him tag along this once, I don't want to repeat what happened earlier.
Zerin
You suggested earlier that you'd accompany me, are you still up for it?
Zerin
By the way, mind telling me your name? Mine's Zerin.
Raver
Nice to meet you Zerin, my name's Raver!
He offered to shake my hand, and I accepted it without hesitations.
Zerin
Nice to meet you too.
He smiled in disbelief, upon the contact of out palms. He gives off such mysterious, yet weird aura.
I couldn't help it and also smile from just looking at him smiling.
He has such a soothing feeling. Staring at the ocean would be the most befitting description.
I continued walking, just this time I'm walking with someone--with him.
We've been walking for a while now, and we finally arrived.
The whole time we trekked, it was so awkward quiet. I don't have any idea of what to talk about.
Zerin
Welcome, this is my house. Thanks for accompanying me!
Raver
You're welcome. Well then, I'll be on my way home now.
Zerin
Take care on your way, goodbye!
Raver
I hope we meet again. I'll head off now!
After bidding goodbye, he then left, leaving me standing.
I watched his silhouette fade before entering my house.
After bathing and dressing up for the night, I entered the bedroom and the breezy windy entering from the open window greeted me.
I didn't need to turn on the lights seeing how the moonlight somehow illuminates the room.
I sat on the edge of the bed for a brief moment before lying down, I didn't even realize how heavy and exhausted my body was until now.
I stared outside the window on the glowing orb that gives me loneliness from the loneliness.
I always gaze at the moon and stars before sleeping, they remind me of the old times when my parents are still here with me.
Every time I see the stars shimmer in the sky, I get reminded of my parents.
I loved them both, despite their hectic work they always made time for me, so I won't succumb to depression because I know, they'll be sad if they knew.
I was devastated after I knew that they both didn't make it out alive from the accident, it's heart-wrenching.
They both work on the same company, hence they both use our car as a way to commute to work together.
This is also the reason why they both got into an accident at once.
They were on their way to work when a truck lost its control and hit them.
The driver was unable to stop the truck from hitting my parents.
I was devastated and got depressed after knowing the news, the shock of seeing them on the news, and attenting their funeral was too much for me.
This led me to see something that is imaginary due to the trauma from the shock.
I tried going to many psychiatrists and all of them diagnosed me with hallucination: seeing things created by brain to cope up with the shock.
According to them this illness is not permanent, but it's hard to cure.
They still don't know what can cure me. Some suggested I get enough sleep, while others prescribed medications.
There're also another recommendation that I decide to live with some friends.
Maybe their presence will impact me in a positive way and will help me improve my state.
I wanted to try all of their advices, the only problem is that, don't have friends to live with.
I also stopped going to school after the accident happened, it was an impulsive decision and I regretted it.
I had thought of it deeply and came into a conclusion that I had no use of studying, or maybe it was just to console myself for not being able to study like every other kid.
While preoccupied by this woeful thoughts the cool breeze soothed my pained heart with its warmth.
I closed my eyes and took a breath to take a break from the thoughts. Eventually I fell asleep.
The banging on the door disturbed my sleep, I'm not expecting any visitor so I don't know who's banging or knocking.
I sat up and looked around, the realization that it's still midnight petrified me.
Chills crawled over my skin down to my spine as my fear awakens.
Who would be banging at my door in this hour!?
A respite interpolated between the banging making it creepier.
I finally mustered up the courage to check the door, and leave the warmth of my bed.
I listened to the banging and learned that the sound came from the main door.
When I got close to the room door, instead of opening it and checking the main door, I locked it
I felt relieved when the banging stopped for good, everything was quiet except my heart that's been competing with whoever's out there.
When I finally feel secured, I turn around to go back to bed.
I was taken aback by the monstrous creature I encountered earlier, that is now standing in front of me with its disturbing appearance facing me.
I felt my head spinning from all the blood rising up due to my heart beating hysterically.
I closed my eyes and started chanting the phrase.
Zerin
This is just a hallucination.
I feel helpless while being consumed by fear, I hope someone would save me!
I heard a familiar voice echoing in my head, with my consciousness resonating with it as it slowly fades.
I quickly sat up while catching my breath, I felt like I was drowning.
Zerin
It was just a nightmare.
I comforted myself from the disturbing dream, if it was actually one.
I realized that it's already morning when a gentle sunlight embracing my skin. I shifted my gaze to the still open window.
He saved me again, know it's just a dream... or maybe not, but there are tendencies people die from dreams, especially nightmares.
That dream was too vivid and realistic that it still creeps me out every time i think of it.
As soon as I calmed down I fixed my bed and headed to the kitchen to prepare for breakfast.
Upon finishing my meal, I was going to wash the dishes I used, but I realized I forgot to buy a dishwashing liquid.
I decided to take a shower instead and trek to the city, again.
After washing up I found out that I need to do the laundry, and guess what? There's no detergent.
Welp, might as well include this on the list. After dressing up I exited the house.
I just realized I'm looking around the area for someone Why am I lowkey hoping to meet Raver again?
I feel disappointed that he's not here. I shook the feeling off and was about to go, but then he showed up.
Raver
Lovely morning! I see you're heading somewhere.
I'm kind of startled when he showed up and greeted me when I was just thinking about him.
Zerin
Good morning raver! I'm going back to the city, I forgot to buy something yesterday.
Raver
I'm on my way to the city too!
Zerin
Ohh, what a coincidence! Let's go there together.
Raver
That's what I was thinking!
His lips formed a smile, he really knows how to enthrall me, I hope I'd see something like this everyday.
Raver
Are you living all by yourself?
He broke the silence amidst our journey to the city.
Zerin
Yes, I don't know any of my relatives if I do have those, and both my parents died from an accident, I also don't have friends.
Raver
Oh, sorry I just had to bring that up.
Zerin
Don't worry about it.
Raver
Well now you don't have to worry, you got a new friend here!
Zerin
AA new friend? Can I really consider you as my friend now?
Raver
Yes, I mean, why not?
Zerin
W-Well we just met yesterday!
He smiled while our gazes were locked with each other.
Raver
Silly Becoming friends isn't really about how long two individuals had contact with each other, time only deepens the bond between them.
I couldn't stop myself from grinning, the excitement of having a new friend is just filling me with energy!
He suddenly patted my head which startled me.
Raver
Are you that happy from just having a new friend?
I looked at him, and he's sweetly smiling at me.
I can't get used to these sudden changes, he's like a lively sun that eradicates the gloomy and somber weather of my life.
Zerin
O-of course! I'm thinking about the vast choices of thing we can do together!
My smile faded when I saw a hint of sadness on his face for a brief moment before a smile took over.
Raver
By the way, since you told me about yourself I think it's just right that I'll share mine with you too.
I stayed quiet while looking at him seriously, hinting that I'm listening.
Raver
I also live alone, and also don't have a family.
Zerin
So we're actually similar in some way...
I didn't even realize that we already in the alley, I was too distracted from our conversation.
Zerin
I'm curious, what are you going to do in the city? If you don't mind me asking.
It was faint but noticeable, he stiftened a bit.
Raver
I'm... going to pay my last rent
Raver
The landowner doesn't live here, so I have to send it in the city.
Zerin
Last pay? Wait, so you're going to move and leave?
I can see that he's concerned about this by just looking at his worried face.
Zerin
Where are you going then?
Raver
I still don't know, but don't think it's going to be here.
Raver
Don't worry I'll try my best to find a place near here, so we can still see each other.
So he's really moving, the thought of it kind of hurt me, my one and only friend leaving.
We might not be able to see each other again if I leave this matter be, I need to think of something.
I smiled having an idea pop-up in my mind. The psychiatrist's suggestion!
Zerin
I have an idea, why don't you move into my house since I live all by myself? You don't have to pay rent, just for necessities, or maybe not pay at all.
Raver
R-Really? That's too much! I can't simply ju-
Zerin
I'm telling you that it's all good.
Raver
Okay then, thank you!
He embraced me out of pure joy, I responded by hugging him back.
Raver
I don't have to think of searching for a new place anymore!
I couldn't respond to him as I was more distracted by his scent.
A soothing scenery of a crystal-blue lake reflecting the rosy sky as if it was a mirror, on its edge sitting a willow tree with it's dominant branch reaching out towards the lake, as if sheltering it with a shade. This is what I see upon inhaling his calming scent her.
I can't find any word to describe it other than.
Raver
Did you say something?
He asked me as we broke the comfortable embrace that we shared.
Zerin
Oh, uh, nothing. Let's go!
We stopped in front of a convenience store, this is smaller and has fewer items than the previous store where I initially shopped, but this one's nearer.
Zerin
Just tell me when you are going to start moving your things, so that I could help you out.
Raver
Alright, and thank you again.
Raver
I'll be on my way now, take care!
Zerin
You too, I'll be waiting.
Raver
Okay Goodbye, see you later.
He continued his trek to where he's going to pay his last rent.
I entered the store and bought everything I needed, it didn't take long since there's no line at the counter.
I also added more food since Raver will be moving in with me. I'm guessing he still hasn't bought any food with him. Going back and forth from the city is exhausting after all.
After paying, I didn't wait for him and walked my way home on my own. I don't know how long he'll take to settle his payment, so I'll just go back first.
Upon arriving I stopped and placed the bags down to open the door since both my hands are occupied from carrying the groceries.
I entered the kitchen to wash the plate that I left, and organized the other things that I bought.
I also did the laundry, it would be embarrassing if he sees how messy my house is, so I better clean up.
After I finished hanging my clothes someone knocked on the door, I believe it's him.
Instead of seeing Raver, the dreadfully, disgusting creature almost caused me to have a heart attack.
I once again couldn't move my body, and helplessly stare at the monstrous thing.
I feel so scared that the fear caused my eyes to tear up, I chanted the phrase to calm myself.
Zerin
This is just a hallucination.
I closed my eyes and took a breath. When will this end?
The breeze suddenly feels colder, giving off eerie feelings causing my skin to crawl. This is freaking me out.
???
Zerin, what are you doing!?
???
Standing in front of your door while closing your eyes? Is this a hobby of yours?
A familiar voice jokingly asked. I somehow feel relieved upon hearing him.
I opened my eyes and my sight never disappointed me, it's him, Raver!
Every time I needed him he's there, is he maybe my destined savior?
Raver
Are you alright? Your eyes are watery, and you look scared.
Zerin
I'm fine, I just remembered something. So are you here to move your things?
Raver
Yeah, I came here to ask for your help move my things.
Zerin
Alright, let me just prepare myself, and we'll leave right away.
I'm still stinky from the sweat that I got from doing laundry and cleaning up. After changing we left.
