Sunday morning, Mia woke up at 8 am and went out for a walk at the park near her house .

"What a beautiful day it is ! Today I am just going to have a lazy day without any office work. I am so tired working continuously for the whole week . It was a hectic week. Thank God the project was completed successfully." She was talking about her recently completed project. Mia was working in an architectural firm. She was an architect.

It was Mia's birthday today. She didn't really remembered it until suddenly notification popped up in her phone.She noticed her phone and realized it was her birthday day . Mia stopped walking for a moment and checked her inbox, many of her college friends and colleagues wished her . She sat on a bench and replied the messages saying thanks.

After replying she started thinking that she should call Lisa who was her friend from University . Lisa and Mia were best friends . They were also working together in the same company. At work Mia is senior of Lisa. Lisa was from a wealthy family and she was getting married soon.

Mia was always quiet . During her student life she was called a good listener cause everyone would share their problems and thoughts with her . Mia lost her parents a long time ago in a car accident . She only had a brother named Mark who was now 17 and in high school . Her brother was in another city as he got scholarship so she was living alone here . She worked real hard for her brother and herself so they don't struggle . Now she is earning enough money to support her brother and herself. She is living a contented life. Thinking all this she was smiling.

She dialed Mark's number but it was busy. So she called Lisa. "Hello Lisa let's hangout today. I will treat you to lunch"

"Mia I am really sorry but I am going to my in-laws. I can't spend the day with you but bestie let's grab dinner together. Ok?"

"Mm ok cool"

"Please don't stay alone . Just call Reve , Samantha or Danny." They were all their friend and colleagues.

"Don't worry I will be alright."

"Sorry again bestie but the dinner today will be on me. Bye. Love you."

"Yeah ok bye." Mia sighed softly.

" As I have to spend my birthday alone this year let just do all the things that I like . Today I just wanna have me time and pamper myself."

Mia went home and took a shower. Wore her favorite black crop top with high-waisted jeans. Suddenly Mark called, "Hello sis. Happy birthday"

"Thank you bro."

"I am sorry I couldn't make it this year to your birthday."

"It's ok . I know you are busy for your upcoming exam. Just study hard ok?"

"I will sis. Take care of yourself and spend your birthday with your friends and colleagues. Have a lot of fun."

"yes I will. Take care bye." after hanging up She took her sling bag and went out.

She at first went to grab some breakfast as she was hungry and then went to watch a movie. Ahh horror movies are really awesome. She watched a movie. Went for shopping , went to the parlor, grabbed her lunch at her favorite restaurant.

Then went to the orphanage where she and her brother stayed for about 2 years. But after that 2 years she ran away. She started working at 14 year and left orphanage with her brother the moment she started working. As in orphanage people wanted to adopt her brother and her separately. So she ran away. She was now 23 years old. And she worked real hard to complete her education and reach this position where she is today.

She spent some time there . She fed the kids the food that she bought. Played with them . She spent quite a while there. She had her dinner plans . So she left quickly. It was already 6pm. She went to her favorite cake shop that was near her old house. Her parents used to bought cake for her from this shop. The shop was really famous in that area.

She entered the shop and while entering she saw a tall figure was standing at the cash counter as the guy in the counter was packing a cake. Normally she doesn't notice people. But that guy in black suit was really tall. She saw his back only . She then went inside to look for the famous chocolate cake. She called the helper girl and pointed the cake. The girl asked if she wants something to be written on the cake or not. She replied no it's ok. She wasn't a kid that she needs to write happy Birthday. While the girl was packing the cake. She was roaming around the bakery and looking at other desserts. Then she returned to the cash counter as her cake was packed. The tall man was still there.

"I am sorry sir but our card machine is broken today. And you will have to pay cash." the guy in the counter said.

" Is there any ATM booth here in this area?" the tall figure said in a deep voice. His voice was quite heavy.

"I am sorry sir. But no."

"Keep the cake cause I don't have any cash at the moment." Saying this the man turned around . He had hazel eyes , brown hair and a set of thin lips. He had a perfect face.

Mia standing behind her suddenly stopped him. "Excuse me . If you don't mind , I have a gift card and I can buy one cake and get another free. I won't be able to have two cakes . It will be wasted. Do you mind if I take the cake for you?"

The man had a total poker face without any change of expression. "It's ok you don't have to do it."

Mia without listening took out her gift card , paid for one cake and asked for the cake the man ordered with her cake . She then gave the cake to the man. "Please take it. It's really fine. The gift card is expiring soon. It will be wasted. Moreover it's my birthday so consider this as a gift from me."

Handing over the cake she went outside and didn't gave the man any more chance to refuse.

Mia came home with her favorite cake . She entered the house it was totally dark . When she turned on the light .... ' Surprise' Lisa and Mark shouted....

"What are doing here Mark?? "

"Sis , come on how can I miss your birthday???"

"But don't you have to study."

"Oh !! Shut up Mia . He will return tommorow morning. Just enjoy the moment. Here cut the cake." Lisa shouted.

"Oh ! you guys also bought a cake ?? I also bought my favorite chocolate mousse cake. "

"Sis , let's cut it ."

"Yeah ! "

"Happy birthday to you , happy birthday to you , happy birthday dear Mia happy birthday to you...." lisa and Mark shouted.....

"Thank you , Thank you."

After they cut the cake they had their dinner that Lisa bought. Mark already went to sleep. Lisa and Mia were watching TV and drinking beer.

"Mia you have a blind date tommorow."

"What that's tommorow??? "

"What you actually forgot about it??

"Ahh !!!! I don't wanna go...."

Lisa gave her a death stare. " Mia I set that blind date for you with great difficulty. Don't you dare ditch me this time. "

"Excuse me !!! The boy you choosed the previous time was a real pervert .... What an idiot!!! he was asking me to accompany him to hotel on the first date..."

"Ok ok... But this is not gonna happen this time . This one is really good."

"How do you know ?? "

"Because my instincts said so...."

"Didn't you said that the previous time too??"

"O shut up !! This time it is real instincts. You know I am soon gonna go abroad . I want my best friend to have a boyfriend by then.... Or else you will be left alone......"

"Ok , ok stop nagging.... but this will be the last time ok ??? If I don't like the boy I will not waste a single minute...... I will straight walk away......"

"I guarantee you ......this time it will not happen....... His name is Chris .....He is really Handsome...... He is an engineer...... He have a good job ..... He is simple...... I really think you will like him...... "

The next day Mark woke up early .... As he had to go .... even Mia woke up soon to bid him....

"Sis, here" Mark handed her a small box...

"What's it? "

" A birthday gift......Open it"

Mia Opened the box it had a chain with small star shaped pendent.....

"Mark.... this is real..... are you mad ??? This must be hella expensive....."

"My sis is precious and this thing is nothing close to what you deserve ......"

"Ooo someone is being way to sweet...... I am getting diabetes....."

"It's not my fault if you deserve all the sweetness tho......"

"Ok ok, now stop .... you will be late....."

"Sis , I hope you find the one you love soon and get all the happiness in the world...... Cause you deserve it........"

"What??? Everyone should know how caring I am...."

"Really....." Mia hold Mark's earlobe.....

"Ahh sis.... you are hurting me....."

"You attention seeker...." Mia left his ear and they both end up laughing......

"Sis , I will miss you....."

"Aren't you coming back in three weeks??? "

"Ok ..... I will miss you too..... And I love you my little bro....."

"I love you too....... " Saying this Mark ran out..."Don't forget to tell me how your date was...." Mark shouted loudly...

"Hey...... " Mia was standing at the entrance door.... 'Ah!! this boy'.......she thought....

Mia came back and went to sleep near Lisa. Lisa stayed here as it was already too late for her to drive back home......as they still had some hours before work Mia rested with Lisa.......

Both of them woke up 2 hours before their work.....

"Mia wear something nice ok ...... "

"Why????"

"Cause you won't have enough time too come home and change for the date....."

"Ohh that stupid date....."

"What stupid date???......you are going to meet your life partner....."

"This stupid prediction of yours....."

"Let me choose something for you...." while Lisa was going through Mia's closet..... Mia cooked some eggs and toasted some bread....

"Oh ok Thank you.... By the way wear this pink dress it looks good ....."

"No, I am going home after having breakfast .... I will take a bath and change my clothes.....My house is on the way to office from here......"

"Hmm ok.... you didn't bought your car ....."

"It's ok I will take the bus..... Oh I am finished.... I should go .... or else I would be late...."

"You.... don't forget to get ready nicely..... wear the gift you got from Mark..... and here take this heels...."

"Relax...... This might be the last birthday I am celebrating with you..... Next time I will be abroad........ Don't even know when I can meet you again....."

Mia reached the office and Lisa was already there.......

"You late....."

"Only 2 minutes....."

"Someone looks pretty....and that shoes tho....."

"I have a dinner date.....and I need to work now..."

"Ok ....let's just get ready for the meeting..... "

"Yeah ..... let me just sort out the paperwork.....pass me the design draft....."

Work finished at about 5:30 ..... Lisa and Mia got out.....

"Hey I will leave now..... Enjoy your date....and call me when you finish......"

"Yeah ok...."
