Dreamy Adventure

Chapter 1:A Promise Made

"Are you sure about that?"

"Well, quite sure," she replied with a shrug.

"But last time you guessed wrong and got into trouble."

"That didn't happen every time, though. If you can't trust me, then don't go. I'm going there anyway," she said in a serious tone, making me question my decision and struggle to come up with a proper excuse for not tagging along with her.

"But...," I hesitated, and she pulled my cheeks, "Ouch! That hurts."

"It hurts me too that you're going back on your words! Didn't you say we'd take the risk no matter what? So why are you backing out now?"

"Those were different circumstances. We're talking about going to a place people avoid, and Grandma said it's inhabited by snakes!"

"Grandma also said the snakes are harmless, and only a few can harm us, deep in the forest. We'll just explore the front areas; we won't go too deep."

Though she made it sound like a safe trip, we both knew it was dangerous, not just because of the snakes but also the wild creatures.

"So, are you coming with me or not?" she asked, her tone leaving me no room to say no directly.

I sighed heavily and replied, "Well, okay then, let's go."

"Yess! It'll be fun! I'm so happy you agreed. It's like going on an adventure. Hehe," she giggled, lying down on the bed.

"Fun my ass. If we get into trouble again, I won't forgive you easily!"

"Yes, yes, I understand. So, it's final - we'll go to that forest area tomorrow noon, when Grandma and the neighbors are taking their afternoon nap. We'll sneak out quietly without anyone noticing." She sounded excited, outlining the plans.

"Yes, we better be careful. If Grandma finds out we're going to that abandoned area, she'll be mad."

"I know, right? Let's go to sleep now. We need to get enough sleep for our adventure tomorrow."

"More like a dreamy adventure...", I murmured.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing much. You go to sleep; I'll come after finishing this page," I said, turning the page of the diary I was reading.

Roya went to bed, and the room grew quiet. I could hear the whistling of insects outside the window, the rustling of the wind, and occasionally, the howls of dogs.

People might think we're fools for risking our lives to explore a place we saw in dreams, but to us, dreams are more than just fantasies.

Do dreams come true?

Maybe or maybe not...

 But what if they do?

It'll be fun, I guess.

Wanna take a bet?

A bet?

Let's see if our dreams come true or not!

But what if they don't?

Oh well, then it's just an adventure! To explore life's unknown situations!

Haha, you sound like some crazy adventurer!

 So, buddy, coming with me?

Okay... Let's go and make our lives a little fuller with dreamy adventures...

And that was the promise I made, so I can't back off now. Let's see what tomorrow brings...

Chapter 2: Have I seen her before?

As the night passed, I began to recollect memories from my diary over the past few years.

When did I first start writing this diary? Two years ago? No, five years ago...

Well, it's been twelve years since ...

I discovered this hidden power or should I say a pure stroke of luck.

When I was five...

I vaguely remember clapping and dancing as my mother gave me the same chocolate I had dreamed of, the previous night.

It seemed like a coincidence, but after that day, many things I dreamed of occurred in my life.

Meeting Roya, the girl now sleeping soundly beside me with no care of the world, was one such example.

Before meeting Roya, I believed I was lucky to see glimpse of the future in my dreams. But after meeting her, I realized it might not be luck but a curse and a blessing at the same time. And more importantly I was not the only one to be like this.

It was in middle school, when I was twelve... or was it earlier?

.

.

.

I remembered a girl giggling and sitting beside me.

She smiled and said while looking at me, "You have such pretty eyes... Golden yellow... Glowing like stars under your dark black hair".

Who was she? Had I seen her before? No, I was sure this was the first time we met.

She had light blue eyes like ocean waves which were crashing on the sand shore like blonde hair of her.

What a weird girl, always giggling and smiling as if she had discovered something new. If I had met her before, I would have remembered her.

"Who are you? What's your name?" I asked.

"You don't remember me?" she replied, surprised. "Stupid girl, how can you forget me? I am Ro-"

"Sanjati, dear! Wake up now! Sanjati!"

My mother's voice brought me back to reality. It was just a dream. What was the girl's name again? I sighed heavily, unable to remember.

Why did my mother have to call me just then?

"Sanjati! Now, will you sit and daydream or get ready for school?" I heard my mother shout from downstairs.

I replied, "Yes mom I am up!" while dressing for school. Today was the first day after summer vacation, and my bag was full of project copies and vacation tasks.

"Have you taken the project works and all other books and copies?", she asked while flipping the bread toast on the pan.

"Yes, Mom, I have. Don't worry.", I replied spontaneously while braiding my hairs. I always told mom to let me cut my hair short. It's such an hassle to braid these long hairs in such a hurry to school. But my mother! She doesn't let me cut it short always telling it's better to keep it long for I look more beautiful like that. But nobody ever told that except her. Or wait ... Somebody said that... who was it again?

After it's done. I sat on the table to have breakfast but the dream kept on bugging my thoughts. The girl felt so familiar yet unknown. I can recollect all of the dream like how she looked and how surprised she was when I asked her who she was, yet I can't remember her name.

"Here's your lunch, and recheck your belongings one more time. Don't call me in the middle of the day and ask me to bring this or that..." My mother kept nagging, but I found myself lost in my dreams from the night before.

The school started as usual - boring assembly and roll call. For me, school was a waste of time, but that was until...

"Good morning, dear students," our principal came into our class. "Welcome the new transfer student. She will be studying with you all. Be polite and kind."

And then I saw her - the girl from my dreams! The same girl with short brown hair and light blue eyes!

She spoke, "Hello everyone! I am Roya. Nice meeting you all. Hope we can be good friends."

Yes! Roya! I remember now!
