Bus
Morning comes and it’s time for school

*walking through the yard dragging his feet

Why did we sign up for the early classes?

Because you’re getting a job

*messes with his hair pulling his head to his shoulder

I’m still looking for one

I know but I don’t want to be the only one paying rent again

*goes over to the fence

That’s just the swim team

Let’s hurry up and go before we’re late

They’re going so fast

*grabs his jacket hood trying to pull him along

*gets out of the water first and grabs his towel

Unable to look away Kody and Nick head to class
A couple classes pass and Kody can barley stay awake

*falls asleep on Nick’s shoulder

Then I’ll just go home

We only have one more class

Kody gets on the bus home and looks for a seat in the back

*yawns and sees a seat

Going through the stops Kody fell asleep

*pushes Kody’s head up

Two hours pass and Nick comes home

*comes out of his room scratching his belly

He promised he’d apply somewhere before I came home

*goes behind the couch and grabs the base
They lift the backend of the couch rolling Kody off

Did you keep your promise?
Kody
It wasn’t three… but I did apply to one!
Kody
(I was so tired I don’t remember)

*grabs his computer and looks at the job he applied for
Nick
Next to the high school?
Kody
And it’s on the way home

*comes around the couch and pats his head

Is Nick doing his thing again?

Well I’ll be in my room

So when do you start?
Kody
Well I’ve sent in my resume but I haven’t gotten a reply yet

But you better go in at the end of the week if they don’t respond

*smiles and pats his head some more

I’m just fixing his hair

*moves a bit over to the other side

So who wants to get lunch?
Like this the day passed with Kody making both dinner and lunch
It’s the next day after Kody’s classes and he sees Riley on the bus again

*hides behind Nick as they sit

*follows Kody’s finger and looks at Riley

Then why are you hiding from him?
Someone presses the button and Riley stands up and heads over to the doors

You don’t have to tell us every time you know!

*pulls Travis along with him to school
The bus jolts forwards as it leaves the stop

*grabs onto the handle in front of Kody for balance

*sinks lower into his seat
Running Away
The next day Kody gets on the bus
Kody
*looks around for a seat but can’t find any

(You gotta be kidding me)

*grabs onto the railing
After one stop more students got on and it was getting crowded

*shoves Kody by accident

*trips and falls onto someone
The bus takes a wide turn pulling Kody off his lap
Riley
*grabs his waist so that he won’t move

*looks behind him and is surprised

*turns facing front and sees the doors opening
Kody quickly secures his bag and runs off the bus

*squats down holding his pink cheeks

(That was so awkward!)
Kody
(If he already doesn’t hate me he will now)

(He must think I’m weird)

*stands up and starts walking

(Hopefully I won’t have to see him ever again)
Then three days later Kody gets on the bus and finds a seat

You made the bus right?!

I don’t want you skipping anymore classes
Kody
I’ll have to pay for it anyways
Nick
I’m glad you know that

And I’m still expecting you to apply to two other-
Kody
*looks up at his phone
Kody pulls the line just before the miss the stop and the bus pulls over just in time

(God I’m gunna be late)
As he runs by a couple of people he slips off the curb and falls taking someone with him

*sits up on top of them
Kody
(How do I keep doing this with him?)
Kody
*feels Riley’s hand on the curve of his back and gets chills
Riley
You’re okay aren’t yo-
Kody
*gets up and grabs his bag running away
Riley
(Is this all he does?)
Coach
What are you doing sitting on the ground?!
