I Don't Love Him

Chapter 1: A Sudden Turn

Chapter 1: A Sudden Turn

"Father, what are you doing?" Harshita's voice rang out as she entered the kitchen.

Her father, Rahul Sharma, looked up guiltily, caught red-handed. "Nothing," he replied hastily.

But Harshita was persistent. "Let me see, are you eating the sweets?" she insisted.

Rahul's expression shifted to a mixture of surprise and apprehension. "Shh... Don't tell your mother," he pleaded.

However, Swati Sharma, Harshita's mother, appeared at that moment, her keen eyes catching the scene. "What are you doing, Rahul? I thought you were on a strict diet. Why are you eating sweets?" she inquired, taking the sweet box from his hand.

Rahul attempted to defend himself, "Oh dear, I'm not eating sweets. I'm just checking them."

But Swati saw through his excuse. "I know everything. Don't underestimate my intuition," she retorted knowingly.

As Harshita and her younger brother Raghav chuckled at their parents' exchange, Swati shifted her attention. "You two, are you ready for school?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, mother, we're ready," they chimed in unison.

"Take your lunch and hurry along," Swati instructed as they gathered their belongings.

With quick goodbyes, Harshita and Raghav left for school, leaving their parents behind. Little did they know that their happy family life was about to take a sudden and devastating turn.

Later that night, as Harshita expressed her concerns about her father attending a business party, Rahul reassured her, insisting that he had to go. Despite her apprehensions, Harshita reluctantly accepted his explanation.

The following day, as excitement filled the air for Harshita's upcoming 18th birthday, their home was visited by an unexpected guest - a police officer.

Raghav answered the door, only to be greeted by the solemn figure of law enforcement. Harshita joined him, her curiosity piqued.

"What's the matter, officer?" she inquired, unaware of the tragic news that awaited her.

With a heavy heart, the officer delivered the devastating news - their parents had been killed in a car crash.

Harshita's world shattered in an instant as she struggled to comprehend the unfathomable loss. Denial and disbelief clouded her mind as she refused to accept the reality of their words.

But the officer's mention of their parents' names confirmed the dreadful truth, leaving Harshita and Raghav reeling with grief and confusion.

In the days that followed, amidst the rituals of mourning and funeral arrangements, Harshita found herself thrust into a new role - that of a caretaker for her younger brother.

With their parents gone, Harshita faced the daunting task of rebuilding their shattered lives. Their father's business closed, leaving them without financial stability.

In their darkest hour, a ray of hope emerged in the form of Mahendra Singh, a friend of their father's, who offered his support and assistance.

Mahendra's son, Rajesh, also stepped forward, offering his friendship and guidance to Harshita. Together, they navigated the treacherous waters of grief and uncertainty.

As they prepared to embark on a new chapter of their lives, Harshita and Raghav clung to the support of their newfound family and friends, bracing themselves for the challenges that lay ahead.

Chapter 2: New Beginnings

Chapter 2: New Beginnings

"Raghav, wake up! You're going to be late for school," Harshita called out, nudging her younger brother from his slumber.

Raghav groggily opened his eyes and nodded. "Okay, I'll be ready in 20 minutes," he mumbled, rubbing his eyes.

"Make it quick, I'm preparing lunch," Harshita reminded him as she hurried to the kitchen.

This was a new experience for Harshita, who had never ventured much into cooking. She boiled milk, made some bread jam and bread butter, and hastily put together their breakfast.

Once Raghav was seated at the dinner table, they both ate their simple meal of milk and bread, and Harshita packed lunch for him.

After dropping Raghav off at school, Harshita made her way to her new job, her first day at Hotel Galaxy, thanks to the help of Mahendra uncle, her father's friend.

The hotel was located in a posh area, a two-hour journey from her home. Harshita took the bus and arrived on time, where she was greeted by Rajesh, Mahendra's son.

"Hello, Harshita, how are you?" Rajesh greeted her warmly.

"I'm fine, thank you," she replied with a small smile.

"Come, let's go inside," Rajesh said, leading her towards the hotel.

As they entered, Harshita was struck by the grandeur of the hotel. The staff, dressed in crisp uniforms, moved about gracefully, exuding an air of professionalism.

Mahendra uncle was busy in his office when he spotted Harshita and Rajesh. He beckoned them inside with a wave of his hand.

"How are you, my child?" Mahendra inquired, his eyes crinkling with warmth.

"I'm fine, uncle. How about you?" Harshita replied politely.

Mahendra chuckled. "I'm doing well, my dear."

He then proceeded to brief Harshita about her job at the front desk, while Rajesh was tasked with helping her settle in.

After obtaining her employee card from the manager, Harshita was introduced to Rakhi, who would be her guide in the hotel.

"Hi, my name is Rakhi. What's yours?" Rakhi greeted her warmly.

"I'm Harshita, nice to meet you," she replied with a smile.

Rakhi then showed her around, explaining the procedures and protocols of the hotel. She led Harshita to the locker room, where she would store her belongings.

Once settled, Rakhi took her to purchase the hotel uniform. However, Rajesh intervened and insisted on buying it for her.

Rakhi was visibly surprised by Rajesh's presence and greeted him respectfully. Rajesh, in turn, acknowledged her politely.

After buying the uniform and shoes, Rajesh refused to accept any money from Harshita, insisting that it was his father's arrangement.

As they left the shop, Rajesh offered to drop Harshita home, but she declined, opting to pick up her brother from school instead.

Upon reaching the school, Rajesh suggested that he could take over the responsibility of picking up Raghav, which Harshita reluctantly agreed to, realizing the practicality of his offer.

Back home, after a meal together, Harshita filled out the open college admission form, her mind still swirling with the events of the day.

As she lay in bed, thoughts of her new job, her brother, and the uncertain future filled her mind, keeping her awake long into the night.

Chapter 3: Embracing the New Role

Chapter 3: Embracing the New Role

The following morning, I woke up with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to tackle another day at work. Donning the hotel uniform - a white saree with red stripes in the border and a neatly tied bun on my head - I felt a sense of pride in my appearance. It was a far cry from my usual attire, but I embraced the change wholeheartedly.

As I prepared breakfast and lunch for Raghav and myself, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at the routine we were settling into. Raghav's compliment about my appearance in the uniform only added to my confidence.

"Thank you, Raghav," I replied with a smile, grateful for his encouragement.

Having quickly become accustomed to my new attire, I made my way to the hotel after dropping Raghav off at school. Upon arriving at Hotel Galaxy, I greeted Rakhi at the front desk, exchanging morning pleasantries.

"Good morning, Rakhi," I greeted her warmly.

"Good morning, Harshita. You're looking beautiful in your uniform," Rakhi complimented me.

"Thank you," I replied, feeling a flush of pride at her words.

After stowing my belongings in the locker room, I joined Rakhi at the front desk, eager to learn from her expertise. She patiently walked me through the procedures, explaining how to greet guests, assist them with room preferences, and input their information into the computer system.

Observing Rakhi's interactions with guests, I marveled at her efficiency and professionalism. She made the daunting task seem effortless, and I found myself growing more confident with each passing moment.

Encouraged by Rakhi's support, I eventually took over the front desk duties, putting into practice everything I had learned. Greeting guests with a warm smile, I assisted them with their room selections and input their details into the system.

Rakhi watched on with pride as I handled each task with ease, offering words of encouragement along the way.

"Good job, Harshita. You're a fast learner," she praised me.

"Thank you," I replied, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over me.

As the day progressed, I continued to work diligently at the front desk, grateful for the opportunity to prove myself in my new role. However, amidst the hustle and bustle of the hotel, I couldn't shake off a nagging feeling of unease.

Later in the day, as I was engrossed in my work, Rajesh arrived at the hotel. Catching sight of me behind the front desk, he paused for a moment, his gaze lingering on me.

"Good job, Harshita. You're doing well," he complimented me, his words laced with admiration.

"Thank you," I replied, feeling a flutter of excitement at his praise.

Rajesh then informed me that he had picked up Raghav from school and dropped him off at home, a gesture that filled me with gratitude.

"Thank you, Rajesh," I said appreciatively.

"Don't thank me, Harshita. Friends don't need to thank each other," he replied with a smile.

With a newfound sense of camaraderie, I bid Rajesh farewell as he returned to his own duties, feeling reassured by his presence.

As the day drew to a close, I reflected on the events that had transpired. Despite the challenges and uncertainties that lay ahead, I felt a sense of determination to face whatever came my way.

Little did I know, however, that a storm was brewing on the horizon, threatening to upend the fragile peace I had found.
