I could never imagine a day like this would come when I finally leave this awful place and start a new life... This all started when I was 7 years old...

Life was peaceful and everyday was filled with joy. Although my parents were not well off... They still offered me everything I ever wanted...until the faithful day when they met with an accident and died a tragic death...I had no relative or family member to take me in and I ended up in a orphanage...

Two years later...

Mrs Sinclair: Hailey Heinsberg...the headmistress is calling you...come to the office in 2 minutes...

Hailey: Good morning Mrs Sinclair... Oh okay...

(Sinclair gives a cold stare and leaves..)

Since the time I entered the orphanage... I never really got along with anyone because they all resented me... Because most of the children there were abandoned since birth and they hated the fact that I got to experience love from my family...I wouldn't blame them for thinking about me in this way...if I were in there shoes, I would've done the same...

And since I came from a good household without experiencing hardships in life, the wardens and the headmistress thought I was spoilt and arrogant...

(Enters the office...)

Headmistress: oh Hailey! You're here...This couple over here wants to adopt you... I'll let you spend some time to get to know each other.

It seemed odd that the headmistress was speaking to me in a calm manner as usually she would scold all the children that came in sight for no reason...

Hailey: Hello...umm... Sir and ma'am...

Mrs Lidel: Ah yes hello Hailey... You can call us Mrs and Mr Lidel...

Hailey: Oh okay...

(Awkward silence...)

Mrs Lidel: Anyways...we decided to adopt you for a reason you see...um... We have a daughter about the same age as you.

Hailey: Wait... Then why are you adopting me if you already have a daughter?

Mrs Sinclair: She has a genetic issue and that sort of led to the production of cancer cells in her bone marrow and we need a suitable donor... And if you are willing to, we would like to adopt you and give you a good life... Ofcourse we won't force you but please consider because you would be saving a person's life...

Hailey: What?! You're adopting someone because you need a donor? I'm sorry to disappoint you but I won't be doing anything of that sorts...

(Hailey storms out...)

I was furious when I heard what she said. How could someone literally guilt a person into donating your body and say it's not a big deal! When I out, I saw a furious headmistress throwing glares at me...

Headmistress: Hailey... Come meet me at the courtyard in 5 minutes along with your bag...(In a sinister voice)

Hailey: No way... You cannot expect me to go along with this messed up thing... You do know this is illegal right?

Headmistress: I won't repeat myself... And if you're not willing to do as I tell, you can tell your precious friend goodbye...

I had chills down my spine... I tried so hard to hide that she visited me at night, but she found out... She visited me every day and since her mom was really poor, she couldn't hire anyone to look after her, so she used to stay with me in my room when her mom went to work....

Hailey: what do you mean?!

Headmistress: Oh don't act like you don't know... Listen to me and go with them if you know what is best for your friend...

I had no choice but to obey her.... I signed a few documents and before I knew it, I was at the Lidels' residence....

Mr Lidel: You there... Come over here

I was taken aback.... They talked to me so kindly when they offered to adopt me but now, he talked with such a stern voice that it startled me...

Hailey: Yes Mr Lidel, I am coming...

(Rushes to Lidel)

Mr Lidel: From now onwards... The room on the top floor will be yours and you shall not go outside without my permission...is that understood?

Hailey: Yes Mr. Lidel....

(Goes to the top floor)

(Hailey turns to the maid that led her to her room...)

Hailey: What is this place?! It is ten times worst than the facility in our orphanage....

Maid 1: Ms. Heinsberg, I am to do as I am told and Mrs Lidel instructed me to take you here.... And your meal will arrive at your doorstep shortly....

After waiting for the entire day, the same maid came with my food and said....

Maid 1: Ms. Heinsberg, please report to the room near the corridor of the 2nd floor after finishing your meal...

(Quietly leaves...)

While I ate the food, I noticed that it made me quiet drowsy and decided to stop eating half way and since no one kept an eye on me.... I tried to escape through the window... There was a strong tree right beside the window that had broken some of the glass... So I took a leap of fate and climbed down that tree...

Hailey: uh..climbs down the tree....ahh...

Thud!
