VENGEANCE IN BLOOD
VENGEANCE IN BLOOD - RE-INTRODUCTION
AUTHOR
Welcome to; VENGEANCE IN BLOOD!
AUTHOR
This book is the re-written version of my very first book; Rise Of The Goddess Demon.
AUTHOR
For new readers, it'll be up to you if you'd check out the old version (or not because I messed it up so badly in a lot of aspects). I would like to recreate my juvenile imagination into something new for me to complete this book.
AUTHOR
As mentioned, 're-written', there'll be changes that are completely different from the old version. Names, surnames, age, traits, occupational status, etc. will not be the same as in the old book. But, in some scenarios, situations, flow will still be the same.
AUTHOR
Without nothing else to be said, let's meet our characters.

VENGEANCE IN BLOOD - EPISODE 1
"𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐛𝐨𝐰."
𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕 : 𝟒 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐨
Another day to waste my time in my foster parents' so-called "home." Well, it was never a home for me to begin with. They took me in at the age of five. But don't get the idea that I'm having the life of a spoiled princess or whatsoever, because I don't. They treated me like a piece of sh!t that they think I am.
I was striding myself down by the stairs, until I accidentally almost dropped her vase displayed by the wall, shoulder-high levelled; luckily I caught it before it even touched the floor. I was about to place it back, but Paula caught me in action. And I assume that she's heading upstairs from where I've been.
PAULA LING
Why can't you just do a single thing right?!
Paula Ling, Jonas Ling's wife here, is scolding me for 'almost' dropping her vase. Can't blame her for being that perfectionist type of woman she thinks she is.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, please. You're scolding me as if I'm a goddamned toddler!
It irritates me to the core that they think they have the authority to boss me around like the naive little girl I was before. Not until the age of 8. I was saved by an old man when I was violently bullied in an alleyway, he offered me hope to live my life in a way it should be. But I needed to end my relationship with this f*cked up foster family.
PAULA LING
You don't have the right to talk back to me, young lady! We took you in, remember that!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yeah, sure. adopting me sure was the right choice.
She raised her hand and was about to slap me but someone barged into the scene. And that someone, is my so-called step sister, Amanda Ling.
Ugh, it's broad daylight for God's sake. Doesn't she have Google to search for the definition of 'decency'? I still can't get used to seeing her wearing outfits like a prost!tute 24/7. Like mother, like daughter indeed.
AMANDA LING
Mom, what is all with the commotion?
PAULA LING
This b!tch is pissing me off!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I was just placing the vase back to its place. But this old hag is making a huge fuss about it.
I reasoned with my eyes rolled in sarcasm and irritation.
PAULA LING
You disrespectful little brat!
Well, that must have really pissed her off. Not that I care about it. She's such an eyesore.
AMANDA LING
Sapphire, you're too much.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, I'm sorry. Guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
PAULA LING
I will call Jonas! I will have him disown you from the family!
Great. I've been waiting for this moment.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Be my guest. It's not like I wanted to be adopted into this family in the first place.
AMANDA LING
Mom and dad treated you like-
And that is where I cut her off from spilling information that is far from reality.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
All of you treated me like sh!t. So, yeah, I get that a lot. Thank you very much. Now, if you excuse me, I have somewhere to go to.
Well, not really. I just can't stand being here with them.
PAULA LING
This is outrageous!
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
And don't forget to call Jonas and disown me.
I replied as I motioned myself towards the door.
AMANDA LING
Heh. You might end up crawling back to us if you do this! We'll give you one last chance to think things through!
I turn myself to face Amanda whose facial expression screams with pride and authority. Assuming that I might actually beg them if anything wrong happens after disowning me.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Oh, darling. I would rather die before I bow.
With a wide smirk displayed on my face, their reaction dropped in a mere second into fear.
I walked out, closing the door with a hard slam.
Taking a long deep breath in then out as soon as the fresh morning air blows gracefully.
I suddenly got a notification on my phone. So, I took it out and read the message.

I replied with an 'Okay' and started walking since it's still 8:20AM.
In a few minutes, I arrived.
I opened the door which rang the bell. The inside is empty except for the cashier lady. I turned to the window side and there I saw him.
Striding myself towards his table and politely greeted him.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Good morning, Gramps.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Good morning to you too, my child. Please, have a seat.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
How long have you been here waiting?
I asked, slowly pulling the chair out for me to sit on it.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Just a few minutes ago.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Did you have your breakfast yet?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No, no, I'm good.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Ahh, you're at it again. You should eat your meals at the right time, no?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yeah, yeah.
Antonio Everhart. He's a 67-year-old businessman. He likes to take me at the moment he saved me 10 years ago in the alleyway. At that time, I was scared if I'd do something that I shouldn't have behind the Ling's back. However, he is extremely displeased by the life story I told him ever since I was an orphan until being fostered.
Even without a hint of hesitation, he is determined to take good care of me. He'd send me daily allowances for school and daily necessities. Buy me proper clothes, shoes, sandals, bags, books, pens and pencils and many more.
The Ling family never knew a thing about someone buying me things because I didn't keep them all at their house. Antonio has them at his mansion a few miles from here. He treated me like his very own granddaughter. His son, Christian, has been in England for a long while now. Haven't seen him for the last couple of months. They're very alike in a lot of possible ways. His son treats me like his very own daughter even though he's always from a far away country for business.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I'm calling the waiter.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No, no, it's okay, gramps.
He gave me a stern glare that signals me to back off. Leaving me no choice but to let him be.
He signalled the waiter for assistance. And in a jiffy, he gave us a pair of menus.
ANTONIO EVERHART
What would you like, dear?
I'm scrolling my eyes through the menu, I don't seem to find anything appealing for my appetite. Frankly speaking, I'm not hungry, but grandpa would nag at me for not eating properly. Not that I would react in a way to how I would react to the Ling family.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I would like some waffles with berries, please.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Same goes for me as well.
The waiter scribbled our order down and collected the menus before heading back towards the kitchen door.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
So, what is it that you'd like to discuss with me, gramps?
ANTONIO EVERHART
You remember Christian, right?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Yes, why?
ANTONIO EVERHART
He is coming back in a few days from England. And we made a decision to have you declared as his heir, officially.
Okay, so, Christian, my 'dad', is coming back from England, and they decided to officially declare that I'm his heir officially?!
My eyes widened, and my ears seemed to have an issue with hearing things.
ANTONIO EVERHART
A little birdie told me that Paula is talking to Jonas, a few minutes before you arrived, to file papers to disown you.
He told me before that he has someone eyeing their movements inside the Ling family about their treatment on me and all. I still don't know who but, damn, my ass is gon' be disowned from them for good.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I got everything ready for you.
Tears started flowing down my cheek. My mouth opened a little. I don't know what to say anymore. Antonio and Christian have done so much for me ever since I was a teen.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Why are you crying now, my child?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I- Ahh- Uhmm-
ANTONIO EVERHART
Come now, dear. Give this old man a hug.
He smiled at me with open arms as I stood up, stepping myself towards him and returning him the hug as I started crying out loud like a little girl.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Behind your high wall, you're still that little girl I saw in the alleyway. The girl whose eyes still burns with a strong desire to escape from being caged and tortured.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Thank you...
I whispered as I continued on sobbing.
ANTONIO EVERHART
For what?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
For giving me hope...
ANTONIO EVERHART
Don't be ridiculous. You deserve a better life as well, dear.
He patted my head gently as I slowly stopped crying.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I wanna be strong, gramps...
ANTONIO EVERHART
You already are, dear.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
No. Not in that way.
I slowly pulled away from the hug and looked at him in the eyes with determination.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I just can't be your heir if I'm not strong.
ANTONIO EVERHART
What do you mean, my child?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I would like to be trained, gramps.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Very well, then.
Christian Everhart, a filthy rich businessman. Very popular in England. But there is so much more about him. In return for their kindness towards me, I would like to transform myself into someone who is more capable of anything, independently.
ANTONIO EVERHART
You're turning 18 in a few days, no?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
On April 11th, yes. Why?
ANTONIO EVERHART
Christian would like to throw you a birthday party as much as I do.
I just gave off a polite smile and nodded as I went back to my seat.
We continued talking casually as the waiter served our freshly made waffles topped by berries.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Let's dig in.
VENGEANCE IN BLOOD - EPISODE 2
"𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠."
𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕 : 𝟒 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐨
I woke up from the most peaceful slumber I ever had in years and found myself in a beautiful room.
The good news is. I'm officially disowned by the Ling family just a few days ago, but drama is still there, luckily, Edmund accompanied me. And the bad news is, Christian is coming back! I'm so nervous as h3ll! I haven't seen him in months. What if he thinks that I'm being such a troublemaker? What if he thinks that I'm not ready yet?
Ignoring the thoughts screaming in my head and get up to freshen myself up.
As soon as I almost finished getting ready, someone knocked on my door.
SOMEONE
Grandpa said that breakfast is ready.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Okay, Ed! Be right there!
That was Edmund, my brother. Not by blood but by heart. We spend our early years in the orphanage. Only I was adopted out of the two of us. So, he left there and looked for a place where he could work his way. But both of us are still in touch throughout my foster years with the Ling family. I would sneak out just to see him on weekends and some days after school give him some money from my savings to help him out. Grandpa and Dad knew about him; how important he is to me as well, and provided him everything he needed.
Well, since I'm disowned, I'm enjoying my life just as I wanted it to be. I can now read books, fiction and non-fictional ones freely. Go out and meet with my friends. And explore new a lot of things for the past few days.
I'm finally done with dressing myself up. And now I'm ready to stuff some yummy food into my belly!
I scurried myself out of my room and headed down for the kitchen. It's 7:15AM, a busy morning in grandpa's manor, but, busier than usual because Christian, my dad, is coming home today. So the maids are busy tidying up, making everything squeaky clean.
The maids were greeting me a good morning and I returned it as well. They are more well-mannered than the Ling family's maids that are; like master, like servants. Even a mere servant has the authority to punish me like a superior over for a little mistake as a kid.
The glorious kitchen is now in front of me. There I saw Edmund helping grandpa. Can anyone tell me how fine my brother is in his casual wear?
I can still remember how girls would swoon at him for being the finest guy in school. Dad enrolled me as a transferee and Edmund for high school and college, I'll be graduating from high school in a few months, it's a good thing that they still accepted my late arrival, but not much of that type of girl in school campus who is into partying and all. I just love being in my comfort zone. And as for Ed, he's fed up with throwing the love letters from his admirers into the trash bin every morning and afternoon. It's very advisable for him to bring a sack for'em next time.
EDMUND REYES
Good morning, sis.
I was so in a trance, remembering school moments that I forgot that I'm in the kitchen entrance. Ed's greetings and a kiss on the forehead brought me back to reality.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Good morning to you too, brother.
I smiled at him as he walked towards grandpa at the kitchen counter.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Good morning, gramps.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Good morning as well, dear. How long have you been standing there?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Just now.
I giggle as I stride myself towards them to help them out as well. We brought the trays to the dining room.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Hello, heaven.
EDMUND REYES
Hey! You're drooling over them!
EDMUND REYES
Wash your hands first, young Missy.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
Okay, okay, uncle.
I ran towards the kitchen, giggling, to wash my hands. It's so funny teasing Edmund. He may look like a bad guy for having poker face 24/7, but he is just a big softie.
After washing my hands, I dry them up and spray some sanitizers before I head back to the dining room.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Let's dig in.
We started eating along with small casual talk about anything.
EDMUND REYES
Oh, I almost forgot.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Yes, son?
EDMUND REYES
What time does his flight lands?
ANTONIO EVERHART
8AM. There's still time, don't worry. Eat properly, both of you are so skinny.
I looked at my arms. I'm not skinny. Not fat either. I have a work-out routine every morning and afternoon. And Edmund? He's very fitted.
EDMUND REYES
Gramps, we're not pigs.
ANTONIO EVERHART
So what? You kids should eat more to stay healthy.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I'm done eating. Find me in my office upstairs and finish what I cooked.
I just stares quietly at them.
EDMUND REYES
Gramps, these are too much-
Hilda stride inside the dining room. She's grandpa's most trusted maid in the manor. A very sweet and loving woman, but at the same time, she's very strict.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Make sure that these two empties my dishes.
EDMUND REYES
This is too much, gramps.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I'm also full.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I've seen you two were more on talking earlier and less eating.
Can't argue with that because it's true. Gramps is very observant with his eagle eye.
Edmund and I sighed in defeat as grandpa excused himself and left us with Helda in the dining room.
After eating, it's already 7:37AM, Hilda called some maids to clean up the table. As Edmund and I went upstairs for grandpa.
◉ ◉ ◉ ✦ Antonio's Office ✦ ◉ ◉ ◉
Edmund and I have been sitting inside his office for a few minutes, either watching Grandpa working on his computer, reading some of his books, or having a whispering conversation. Grandpa doesn't like noise inside his office, so we had to keep our voice as low as possible to avoid trouble.
As time flies, he stopped typing and turned off his monitor.
ANTONIO EVERHART
Okay, it's 8:45 now. Let's head out.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
I call shotgun!
ANTONIO EVERHART
(These kids.)
I noticed that grandpa's lips curved into a smile. Returning him the smile as I ran outside the room like a little kid, earning chuckles of my brother and grandpa for my childish behavior.
We went outside for the garage. Grandpa is driving and I call for a shotgun, so Edmund is sitting at the back. Taking out the garage door remote, revealing various sweet ride collections.
◉ ✦ ◉ Mansion Exterior ◉ ✦ ◉
◉ ✦ ◉ At The Airport ◉ ✦ ◉
It's already 8:07AM, and there's still no sign of him. Grandpa is also getting impatient as he dislikes tardy people.
EDMUND REYES
There's still no sign of him.
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
He can't be lost or something, right?
ANTONIO EVERHART
I'm sure he'll be here, children. Just be patient.
Said by the person who is losing his sanity.
We waited for another couple of minutes in the bustling interior of the airport facility. Until someone voiced out.
SOMEONE
I'm sorry for the delay.
We looked in the direction and saw a man in a suit.
ANTONIO EVERHART
You punk!
Well, I'm guessing that his son pressed the wrong button.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
Now, now, Father. That is not how we should greet each other after months now, are we?
Grandpa took a deep sigh.
ANTONIO EVERHART
I'm still pissed that you're late.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
Well, a pregnant woman happened to faint inside the plane, which delayed my exit. I checked her out and happened to have low blood sugar and is stressed out so badly. The flight attendants called for an ambulance for the woman and rushed her to the nearest hospital as soon as possible.
ANTONIO EVERHART
You did the right thing.
Christian smiled at his father's satisfaction for helping a pregnant woman. And looked at me and Edmund who were sitting and staring at them on our bench silently.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
What are you doing over there?
Astonishment hits where it should be. Don't know how to start a conversation with him because I'm still growing a bond with him whenever he'd come shortly then take flight for England.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
Give this man a hug, will ya?
Both Edmund and I stood up and walked towards him as he opened his arms and embraced us with warmth, Grandpa also joined as well.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
How are my two kids?
SAPPHIRE WINDSOR
We're fine. And welcome back.
CHRISTIAN EVERHART
Thank you so much, Princess.
We pulled out from the hug as we headed towards the parking lot. And this time, Edmund and I are sitting at the back. Dad is on the driver's seat and grandpa on the passengers seat and heading on our way home.
