Fanboy
Prologue
It was a sunny day in Perth, and Sai and Perth found themselves sitting together in their favorite spot at the local park. As they watched the world go by, Sai couldn't help but notice a gay couple walking hand in hand, radiating happiness and love.
Sai exclaimed, nudging his friend
Sai
"Isn't it amazing to see a real-life gay couple? They look so cute and handsome together. I wonder what their names are and where they live."
Perth raised an eyebrow and smirked
Perth
You know, Sai, there's a possibility that they're not a real couple.
Perth
They could be pretending for attention and followers.
Perth
It's all about gaining popularity these days.
Sai's face fell, disappointed by Perth's skepticism
Sai
"But what if they're genuinely in love?"
Sai
"What if they're just like us, searching for happiness and acceptance?"
Perth sighed and looked at Sai with a mix of amusement and concern.
Perth
"You're such a romantic, Sai"
Perth
"I admire your optimism, but sometimes, it's better to be cautious. Love can be a tricky thing, especially in this age of social media."
As they continued their conversation, Sai couldn't help but wonder if Perth's past heartbreak had influenced his perspective on relationships.
He wanted to understand his friend better and uncover the reasons behind his aversion to shipping.
Sai
"Perth, I've always wondered why you're so against shipping and romantic notions"
Sai
"Is there a reason behind it?"
Sai asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.
Perth's expression softened, and he let out a sigh.
Perth
"Well, Sai, there's a rumor going around that I was dumped by my ex-boyfriend because he cheated on me"
Perth
"t was a painful experience, and it made me question the authenticity of love and relationships."
Sai's heart sank as he realized the pain Perth had endured
He reached out and placed a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder.
Sai
"I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you"
Sai
"But please remember, not all relationships are the same"
Sai
"There are genuine connections out there, filled with love and loyalty."
Perth looked into Sai's eyes, his gaze filled with a mix of gratitude and vulnerability.
Perth
"I shouldn't let one bad experience define my outlook on love."
Perth
"Maybe it's time for me to open my heart again and believe in the possibility of finding true happiness"
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of Sai's stomach growling.
They both burst into laughter, realizing they had lost track of time.
Sai
"I guess it's time to satisfy our hunger,"
They made their way to DUMBASS, the coffee shop owned by Perth's family.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air.
Sai couldn't help but chuckle at the peculiar name of the shop.
Perth's mother, a talented pianist, greeted them with a warm smile.
Mrs. Len (Perth's Mom)
"Welcome, boys!"
Mrs. Len (Perth's Mom)
"What can I get you today?"
Sai ordered his favorite sweet treat.
While Perth opted for a comforting cup of Russian tea.
They settled into a cozy corner of the shop, savoring their drinks and enjoying each other's company.
Chapter One: The Suffering
Buttery sunbeams streamed through the gap of the curtains.
They danced across Sai's face.
Trying to pull him from the sweet arms of slumber.
Mama Melita, as reliable as the rising dawn, began her daily ritual.
Mama Melita, with her melodic yet resolute voice.
Mrs. Melita
"Son... ☀️ It's time to wake up and smell the fresh aroma of coffee."
It was followed by a tinkling giggle that sparked comfort and familiarity.
Still, the calls fell on the defiant ears of Sai.
Who was wrapped comfortably in his world of dreams.
Wrapped comfortably in his world of dreams. Bubbles of slumber exhaled from his nostrils, a silent yet playful rebuttal.
Mama Melita swatted the air, her frustration mounting.
The words cut sharply through the peaceful morning, shaking Sai from his dreamscape.
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Sai blinked.
Sai
"Oh ma there you are..."
The grumbling tone was lightened with a groggy smile from her son.
His mother's affectionate gaze softened his grumbling.
Mrs. Melita
"Oh, my buttered pancake,"
She cooed, relieved at her victory.
Mrs. Melita
"I love when you wake up and refresh our morning."
Sai
” You're smooching me!"
Sai scoffed, but his annoyance was short-lived.
His eyes caught the daunting sight of the clock.
Sai
"Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?!"
Sai
"It’s my first day of being a highschool!"
Each word tumbled out disjointedly.
His panic rising with each tick of the clock.
Mama Melita stayed silent.
Her smile nothing short of ominous.
And a laugh that chilled Sai into silence.
The laugh echoed ominously in the quietness of the room.
She giggled, the sound oddly contrasting the eeriness of the moment.
Sai sprinted towards his destination.
As far back as I can remember.
Mama Melita was always the strong figure in our family.
She often recounted tales of her own teenage years, colored with shades of innocence and rebellion.
Melita found herself in the throes of an unexpected emotional whirlwind.
One evening, after much pleading and promises of utmost caution, her parents agreed to let her attend an end of semester bash.
The conditions were clear:
With a gleam of exhilaration in her eyes.
Mama Melita dolled herself up.
Her elegant demeanor radiating newfound maturity.
The charm of his smile masking the intentions lurking beneath.
Memories blurred, the night took a turn that would change her life forever.
Inside a dimly-lit and secluded room.
Their destinies entangled in a rush of emotions and stolen moments.
Morning light unveiled the harsh reality of her situation.
Draped in shards of her broken innocence.
Melita returned home to the stern faces of her waiting parents.
Their fury was swift, reflected in the week-long grounding and the disappointment that furrowed their brows.
Soon, physical changes began;
Breakfast was pushed aside.
Replaced by bouts of nausea.
Her taste buds rejecting food.
Transforming regular meals into episodes of discomfort.
The realization hit hard.
Could she be carrying Leo's child?
Hoping beyond hope that he would stand by her during this perplexing phase.
Their meeting was fraught with anxiety.
Melita
"I... I'm pregnant, Leo,"
She finally mustered the courage to divulge.
His initial joy was washed away by fear and panic.
Despite his promise of commitment and shared responsibility.
Leo's words flip-flopped.
Leo
"No-no I can't, sorry"
Saddled with the weight of their decisions, the product of their supposed love.
Melita carried her increasing burden along with an expanding belly.
Seeing her reflection was a painful reminder of what was lost and what was yet to come.
Reaching the point of no return.
Melita decided it was time to reveal the truth.
In the midst of the stunned silence.
Her parents made the heart-wrenching decision of sacrificing her education for the sake of her child to be.
She would have to leave school—her dreams, pushed to the sidelines.
Melita, my mom, gave birth to me a year later.
A beautiful new hope born out of turmoil.
Despite the circumstances.
She never bore any resentment towards me.
She bestowed upon me the torch of her dreams—to continue her interrupted education.
Sai
"Or I swear I'm going to be late!"
Sai urged, drumming his anxious fingers against the cool bathroom door.
His pleas fell on Noah's deaf ears.
Came the muffled response.
Giving Sai a sight of Noah.
In all his bare glory that could have been missed.
Hastily retreating from the mortifying sight, and slamming the door shut behind him.
Breakfast time was usually a cacophonic symphony.
Noah's eyes bore into Sai.
Trying to decide whether to react with embarrassment or amusement.
Sai, unfazed, met his gaze with an exaggerated roll of his eyes.
The clear voice of mama Melita echoed in the room, admonishing them gently.
Mrs. Melita
"Please, boys, no quarrels at the table"
Mrs. Melita
"It spoils the food."
Noah
"I'm not a 'kid', mom!"
Noah protested, his countenance visibly pricking at the diminutive term.
Mama Melita only chuckled at his claim, her eyes dancing with a twinkle of mischief.
The twin terrors as they preferred to be called, contributed their chorus of gleeful hoots.
The day was unfurling, and school was waiting.
An eager energy radiating from him.
Sai
"Alright, see you later mom, Jerry, Terry!"
Her goodbye was punctuated with a cheeky brow wiggle at Noah.
Mama Melita called their back, holding out their day's allowance.
Mrs. Melita
"Have a fantastic first day, ok?"
With a loving peck on her cheek, Sai and Noah replied,
Noah called out from behind him.
His hurried voice echoing in the whole neighborhood.
Chapter Three: Sorry
Sai
"Could you call an Uber?"
Sai asked, glancing at his watch with a frown.
Noah responded, his voice filled with faux excitement.
Sai was shifting uncomfortably, swatting away bugs that seemed determined to make a meal of him.
Sai
"Ugh, the bugs are biting me."
Sai
"Is the Uber on its way?"
Asked, his voice laced with irritation.
Noah
"Just be patient, the school isn't going anywhere."
Noah replied, his tone soothing.
Once they were settled in the Uber, Sai turned to his brother.
Sai
"Noah, can you make your own way home this afternoon?"
Sai
"I'm going to the bookstore to pick up some manga"
Sai
"Then I'll meet Perth and Kira."
Noah
"Blah blah blah, yada yada yada, whatever."
(Noah gets a slap on the head)
His words were cut off by a sharp slap to the back of his head.
Noah
"Ouch! What was that for!?"
Noah complained, rubbing the spot where Sai's hand had landed.
Sai
"You're not listening!"
Sai
"You're just mumbling to yourself"
Sai grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
Noah protested, his eyes wide with innocence.
Sai
"I just don't want mom to worry about me."
Sai sighed, his anger dissipating.
As they neared the school, Noah perked up.
Noah
"Hey, I heard there are a lot of handsome guys at Jose Dim Ho University"
Noah
"I bet some of them are g..."
The Uber driver cut him off, pulling up to the school gate.
Driver
"Kids, we're here."
Noah
"For your information, we're not kids!!!,"
Noah retorted, his tone defensive.
The driver just smirked at Noah, glancing back at them in the rearview mirror.
Driver
"Alright, I won't argue. Better hurry or you'll be late."
Sai said, offering the driver a warm smile.
Sai
"By the way, what's your na..."
Noah cut him off, his patience clearly worn thin.
Noah
"Ugh, can we go now? That guy is annoying."
Ignoring Noah's interruption, the driver winked at them before pulling away from the curb.
Sai
"Always interrupting me, this brat!"
Noah
"He's trying to court you!"
Sai was greeted by his friend, Perth.
Noah
"There he goes, talking to his boring friend."
Noah rolled his eyes, mumbling under his breath.
He waved a dismissive hand at his brother.
Sai
"Study hard, darling,"
Sai
"And don't forget what I told you."
Noah
"Stop calling me darling!!"
Noah
"We're not lovers you're creeping me out!"
With Noah gone, Sai turned his attention back to Perth.
Sai
"What section are you in, Perth?"
Perth
"Good question. I don't know."
Perth shrugged, a sheepish grin on his face.
Sai groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Perth just laughed, clapping Sai on the shoulder.
Perth
"How would I know? I arrived at the same time as you. Let's find our room number."
Sai
"Here it is! Our names are on the list, and so is Kira's."
As Sai was about to comment, he was suddenly pushed forward, stumbling with a painful grunt.
Sai
(Painful groan) What happened?
Sai
”I care about my face!!"
Sai
If you damaged it, would you pay for it?
A tall, muscular guy turned around, an apologetic look on his face.
Ace
I promise it won't happen again
Sai crossed his arms over his chest, his expression stubborn.
Sai
I won't tell you unless you help me.
Before he could stop him, Perth blurted out,
The big guy smirked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Annoyed, Sai shot Perth a glare
Perth just shrugged, a teasing smile on his face.
Perth
He asked for your name
Perth
Can't you be a bit nicer?
Perth
And stop being feisty.
Perth
I know you like him deep down from the moment you saw you
Sai
And who cares if I'm not nice!
Sai retorted, turning his back on them.
The big guy held up his hands in a placating gesture.
Ace
It's my fault. And my name is Ace.
Sai's eyes widened, his annoyance momentarily forgotten.
Sai
Wait, did you say Ace?
Ace just nodded, a knowing smile on his face.
Sai frowned, a strange sense of familiarity washing over him.
Ace just shrugged, glancing at his watch.
Ace
We can continue our chat at lunch. See you, Perth and Sai.
As Ace walked away, Sai found himself lost in thought. He was interrupted by Perth's teasing voice.
Perth
How long are you planning to stand there?!
Perth
Or maybe you're in love with that big guy, Ace like I said earlier?
Sai's head snapped up, his cheeks flushing a bright red.
Sai
No! And stop teasing me!
Perth just laughed, shaking his head.
Perth
You're not funny, you know.
Sai
Let's go! We're gonna be late!
Sai
(But I'm curious about that guy)
Sai
(Should I ask him again?)
Sai
(Ugh!, I was so rude to him.)
He couldn't shake the feeling that he knew him from somewhere.
