Diary From The Future Chapter 1 - Headache
____________________________________________
Ning Ning woke up late, she quickly ate some bread and rushed out of the door.
Her home was near the school and it would take her about ten minutes to reach there on foot. Yet, right now it’s already 6:55, her class teacher was very strict, this was why she doesn’t want to be late.
Just as Ning Ning left home, she was knocked by something and screamed out in pain.
There was a sharp pain on her forehead, where it hit her, irritating her nerves, tears wouldn’t stop spilling from her eyes, she covered her forehead and wished she could roll around on the ground a few times.
It took a long time for the pain to ease, when she could finally open her reddened eyes, she looked at what had struck her head.
It was a thick and heavy vinyl notebook, no wonder it almost smashed her forehead into pieces.
Suddenly Ning Ning felt cold, the cold rose from the soles of her feet.
She was in the corridor, no one was at the side and at the top was a ceiling. So, where did this thing come from, not to mention that it looked like a Death Note! That was terrifying.
Ning Ning walked up and down, looked left and right, but no one could be seen, the corridor was quiet. She was unable to control her curiosity, went to pick up the vinyl notebook and looked at it, when she picked it up a piece of paper fell out from the inside, the piece of paper was about A5 in size, which was quite small. She picked it up and saw her face on the paper, the sketch looked a little different, but in general, it was her face, this made her even more curious.
The fear of being late to class and getting ruthlessly yelled at by her class teacher was forgotten. Right now she was confused, should she or should she not look at the contents of this book?
It looked as if it had something to do with her, right? Wasn’t that rude? Someone drew her face and put it in a little book, what if she was cursed or something?
After Ning Ning pumped herself up mentally, she opened the book to the first page, there were three characters written on the front page: Lin Ye.
(TN: it’s three characters because his first name is the character for the forest, which is made of two characters meaning wood/tree…For those that were curious)
It was actually him!
This was the boy, who has been Ning Ning’s secret love for almost three years now.
When she was a freshman, Lin Ye transferred to her school. He was very handsome, just speaking from his looks, he was in all aspects to Ning Ning’s liking. Hence she fell in love at first sight. Later, after coming into contact, she discovered that he was not only good-looking but also has a good personality and was very outstanding, so she liked him even more.
He was a relatively gentle person and introverted by nature, he can get along with anyone except Ning Ning. This broke Ning Ning very much, she thought of many ways to approach Lin Ye, but all failed. In the end, because her self-esteem was too damaged, she gave up on the idea of being together with him and hid her love at the bottom of her heart.
She didn’t expect to find his diary, nor did she expect that this sketch of herself would be placed in his diary. Don’t ask where this diary came from, anyway, even if the world was ending, she would still look at this diary!

13 September 2021, Sunny
Today was her death anniversary. When I went to pay respect to her grave, I encountered an old classmate. She was very surprised that I would go to pay respect to her grave. It can’t be helped, no one knew that I had a secret love for her for a long time. My sadness was a strange and hypocritical display to them. If only I could go back, I would confess to her, I would gather my courage, and no longer hide from her eyes because of shyness…
——
She? Who was it? Ning Ning completely didn’t think that the person mentioned was her since her self-esteem was wounded too many times.
She looked down quickly.
——
1 October 2021, Rain
The rain makes me feel lonely. I remember that on rainy days she especially liked the water pits on the road. I saw it a few times and it was lovely.
But I will never see it again.
Currently, I am entirely not sure what kind of feelings I should remember her with, only sadness? No, it’s more of an emotion that I don’t even understand myself.

13 September 2022, Sunny
I don’t want to go to her grave anymore.
—–
Ning Ning paused, this time span was a bit large! But why not go? Wait a minute..at present, it’s only 2020!
What day was today…Ning Ning took out her mobile phone and looked at it, September 13th! Her crush’s secret love’s doomsday!
If this was true, doesn’t this mean this diary dropped on her in order to let her save someone?
This was very queer, but in the current situation, she would prefer to trust this, even if it wasn’t credible. In the end, this was about human life and life and death are more important than children’s feelings.
Still, she was a little jealous of that girl.
Ning Ning continually looked down feeling depressed.
The following was basically a fixed record of the day of September 13 every year, and about what he can remember of his secret crush. Every year on September the 13th, he occasionally goes to the grave and sometimes he doesn’t go. His thoughts change every year, but what has not changed was the sadness between the lines. He didn’t write her name or information, he wrote more about the little details, what eating habits she had, how fast she walked, and so on.
The way he expressed himself became more and more mature and restrained, sometimes he was even joking. She can see that as he got older, he also became more mature. But why, the sadness revealed by each sentence, was getting deeper?
Ning Ning’s chest ached. At long last, she reached the last page.

13 September 2030
I intentionally no longer pay attention to the date in September, but the assistant always reminds me I need to do this and that today, I want to change assistants. Given the kind reminder from the assistant, I set aside time in the afternoon to visit the grave. The cemetery was very clean. The Uncles and Aunts are more diligent than me. They come often, but we rarely cross paths. To be honest, I don’t want to meet them. What would I say about myself? Say I’m Ning Ning’s classmate? How could there be a classmate who insisted on coming to her grave after ten years?
To be honest, I can’t remember her face, it’s vague and I’m not even sure if my memory is accurate. Probably because I’m old. This is the last page, it’s all right here, I’m too tired.
—–
The last page had a slight trace of something cut off. The sketch should be drawn on the day when the last page was written.
Ning Ning stared at the line ‘say I was Ning Ning’s classmate?’, her eyes widened, it was her? It was not an illusion? Whose prank was this? Will she really die on this day? Although halfway she felt that that person was like herself, but because her self-esteem was damaged, she did not dare to think it was herself. Otherwise, she would be embarrassed to death when she saw the name of another. The broken heart can no longer be narcissistic.
But she didn’t expect it to be her! It’s such a pleasant surprise.
Ning Ning, on one hand, was confused since this could be a prank, on the other hand, she couldn’t help but laugh foolishly.
She laughed for a while, then became stunned. She just wanted to hold Lin Ye’s collar and question him: Why didn’t you write the cause of death!!! If the diary was really coming from the future and if she doesn’t know the cause of her own death how will she avoid it? It was a hopeless game!
Ning Ning rubbed her face that became a little stiff because of her collapsed mood.
Diary From The Future Chapter 2 - How to avoid Death
_____________________________________
Calm down, calm down. Let’s calm down and think about anything that can be lethal.
There was too much… There was a possibility of walking inside a building where an explosion could happen, gas could leak, the building could collapse and many more things can happen. If the origin was from humans, then there could be fleeing murderers, robbers, etc.
Outside, it could be that an object falls from a high altitude or a car accident. There could be crazy newlyweds chopping people with a knife as they wish.
(TN: Lol, not actually sure about this but it’s funny… Ali: XD wild imagination. I like her )
She could accidentally trip and hit her head or accidentally die while passing by an escaping criminal.
It was too difficult to determine the cause of death.
Ning Ning hesitated and turned back inside the house.
Although her neighborhood belongs to that kind of place where anyone can saunter around and downstairs was a chaotic area with small vendors, but her home was average and the door was also anti-theft proof, inside it was always safer compared to outside.
There were many risk factors outside, under normal circumstances, the average person will certainly not encounter any, however, one can always become an unfortunate man and come across it.
Ning Ning entered the house, her mother glanced at her, then continued to watch TV.
Then she looked at her again and asked, ”Why are you changing your shoes? Don’t you have to go to school?”
”My stomach hurts.” Ning Ning showed an expression of constipation.
”Ah?” This time her mother looked nervous and rushed to her side, supporting her while asking, ”Do you need to go to the hospital to let a doctor look at you?”
Ning Ning usually likes to play, yet it hasn’t affected her going to class or her grades. When she (mother Ning) met her teachers, they always praised her for being clever and lively, that was why mother Ning had no idea that she was lying.
”No need, I will just lie down.” Ning Ning got past her mother and slipped into the kitchen to see that everything was normal, then returned to her room with a peace of mind.
Today, she will stay at home, if there really was an explosion or something, then that was destiny.
Nevertheless, she will pay attention to gas leaks, robberies and the like.
Ning Ning returned to her room, went towards her bed, picked up the diary and looked it thoroughly serval times but she didn’t find any details regarding her death, the other part only made her mood fluctuate. For a while, she felt that if this was real, she would be really happy. Yet, currently, she felt that the emotions revealed inside the diary only caused her sadness, but, she made new discoveries, inside the diary, something called ”Greenie” appeared, it was just that nothing much was mentioned. Before, she didn’t discover it, because it was only mentioned once or twice. What was this thing?
Ning Ning didn’t expect to hear footsteps near her room. ”Xiao Ning~” Her mother called her outside of the door, before pushing the door to her room open and entering. ”I just called your class teacher and asked for a leave of absence, your teacher asked you to rest for the day at home. In case you fear that your courses will drop, you can tell him and he will ask your classmates to lend notes to you.”
”Oh, okay.” Ning Ning didn’t care much about this, in case she really didn’t understand, she can always just ask her class teacher. No teacher hates hard-working students.
She thought about it for a while, then realized that this was a good opportunity to talk to Lin Ye, she immediately corrected herself and said, ”Mom, no need, no need. At that time, I will just go find my friend to borrow notes to read!”
”Mhm, fine. What do you want to eat at noon?”
”Anything.”
”In that case, I’ll buy fish so there will be steamed fish at noon with a little stir-fry. Your dad is back from his business trip, so I will also get the sweet and sour pork rips that your dad likes.”
”Okay, I won’t go to the supermarket with you.”
”Mhm, you take a good rest at home.”
After mother Ning left, Ning Ning turned on the computer and started playing games. She doesn’t have a big heart, she just feels too tired to constantly pay attention to everything around her, during this time she would scare herself to death first, that would be ridiculous.
She has always pursued the principle, that one should do the things one ought to do and have fun when one ought to have fun.
So she played with her mind at peace.
She played for an hour until her friend called her.
”Hey, how are you today? Would you like for me to visit you at noon?”
”It’s no big deal, just a little stomachache, a little headache, a little fatigue and loss of appetite. If you bring me some ice cream over, I might get better.”
”Screw you, aren’t you just greedy for ice cream? Besides, what kind of ice cream do you eat when you are sick?”
”Yes, did anything happen at school today?”
”No, ah.”
”What about off-campus?”
”No…ah, it seems that at the road west of the school something happened and it was a bit noisy but we didn’t gossip nor did we know what happened.”
”No matter.” Ning Ning said, hearing the sound of the door opening she quickly added, ”I guess I can go back to classes tomorrow, you don’t have to come and visit me. I will invite you over to eat icecream tomorrow, bye-bye.”
Hanging up the phone, Ning Ning frantically came out the door and saw that it was just her mother and breathed a sigh of relief.
”Mom, I heard something happened. Do you know what happened?” Ning Ning asked while walking past.
”Ay, the roadside you take to school, there was a car accident. The car didn’t hit anyone, fortunately, fortunately.” Mother Ning said with a smile, ”Well, you come and help me. Otherwise, I will have too many things to deal with today.”
”Okay.” Ning Ning and her went into the kitchen, there were no snacks.
Although it was said that there was a car accident, it occurred after the hour she went to school, the time she went to school was staggered. During this time, even if she didn’t ask for sick leave, she would have already been in school and wouldn’t be involved in the accident, meaning, this car accident wasn’t the cause of her death.
Forget it, no matter when it was, no matter what the cause of death was, life or death she can’t go out today.
At noon, Ning Ning’s dad knowing that she was taking sick leave at home, said he would take her to the hospital for a check.
”You can’t be like this, you know? In case you don’t feel well, you need to go to the hospital to check if there is a serious illness. If it gets discovered early you can get timely treatment!
”I just have a runny tummy…”
”What if it is a stomach problem? You should be more cautious.”
”No, it was only a little cold yesterday.”
”No, no, no, this cannot be taken lightly.”
Ning Ning was helpless and could only say, ”Well, actually, I was just in a bad mood today and didn’t want to go to class.”
Her dad paused and stared at her for a while. Ning Ning put her hands together and promised: ”Only one day, I promise, only today!”
Eventually, her father let her off, who would have thought that the biggest obstacle in avoiding her death would be her father?
But she couldn’t tell her true intentions and could only endure it with tears in her eyes.
Her dad talked to her from noon until the afternoon. Ning Ning made up a fictitious friendship, saying that that friendship was the source of her sadness, this fooled her father.
As night fell, Ning Ning and her mother inquired about what happened outside but found nothing strange.
Late at night, when it was after eleven o’clock, she became tense, it was only ten more minutes before the day passed.
As she watched the time pass little by little, the tension in her heart grew stronger and stronger. Before she knew it, the time jumped from 23:59 to 00:00, she sighed with relief and collapsed on the bed.
”Alive…ha ha ha ha…”
Ning Ning couldn’t stop laughing foolishly.
Tomorrow she was going to see Lin Ye. What should she say? As soon as she relaxed, Ning Ning felt sleepy and fell asleep dazedly.
