Prologue

It all began back in middle school when my life took a direction I could never have expected.

My gender was revealed as a male omega, something that set me apart from my siblings—all born as alphas.

From that moment, I became the odd one out, the son who didn't meet the family’s expectations.

My parents distanced themselves, disappointed I wasn’t the alpha they’d hoped for.

They ignored me, and even withdrew from attending any of my school events, leaving me to navigate my world alone.

Over time, I grew weary of hoping for their approval, tired of chasing attention that would never come.

So, I made my decision—I’d stand on my own.

I requested an early inheritance, just enough to start a life on my own, and at 18, I became an independent omega.

On the rooftop, after school…

“Hey, Sam! Join us tonight!” Yoon, one of my closest friends, called out with a grin.

He was a beta and always brought some light into my life.

I gave him a nod, lighting a cigarette.

“Sure, I’ll be there.”

Zem, another close friend of mine, sniffed the air and asked,

“Hey, Sam, is your heat cycle coming up?

I thought I caught a whiff of your pheromones earlier. Did you forget your suppressant?”

“Maybe you just smelled something similar,” I shrugged with a smile, hoping he wouldn’t catch on.

“My cycle’s next week, anyway.”

That night at the bar…

The music pounded as Yoon prepared drinks, people laughing and dancing around us.

He checked his watch, then pulled out his phone.

“Sam, where are you?” he asked when I picked up.

“The party’s started without you!”

“Sorry, Yoon! My car broke down on the way, but it’s all sorted now.

Zem’s driving, so we’ll be there soon,” I replied with a laugh.

Once we arrived, Yoon greeted us with a round of drinks as a “punishment” for being late.

We laughed and drank, feeling the effects of the alcohol as we decided to play a round of Truth or Dare.

The bottle landed on Zem.

“Truth or dare?” Yoon asked, smirking.

“Truth,” Zem replied confidently.

Yoon leaned in.

“Are you seeing anyone?”

We all leaned closer, surprised when Zem answered, “Yes.” He quickly followed it with a grin, “Just kidding! I’m still single—didn’t want to get dared, that’s all.” We all laughed as the game continued.

Finally, it was my turn. When I chose “dare,” Yoon’s eyes gleamed mischievously. “See that guy over there? Go kiss him and ask him out!”

I blushed.

“No way! That’s too much.”

“Then five shots, Sam!”

he said, chuckling.

I took the shots, and before I knew it, I was feeling the world spin.

I stumbled to the bathroom, but a strange, heavy warmth spread through my body, catching me off-guard.

No, not here… not now.

Despite my suppressants, my heat cycle had started early, and the pheromones filled the room.

I felt a presence behind me, an alpha I didn’t know leaning closer.

“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice gentle but his pheromones overwhelming.

I barely resisted, and before I knew it, I was pulled toward him, needing the comfort his scent offered. And just like that, he took me by the hand, leading me out and into the night.

This was just the beginning of my journey—the night that changed everything.
