(Chapter 1) 1 - The First Look
The school bell rang announcing the start of a new school day
At the back of the class, by the window, sat Hiroki

*sigh* Another new day with the same route

When is this going to finally end? Ughh
He muttered in a voice that was drowned by the surrounding chatter
Nakamura-sensei
Good morning, everyone.
Nakamura-sensei
Okay. Everybody that belongs to this class take your seats.
Nakamura-sensei
If you aren’t in this class, get out of here.
Nakamura-sensei
Class is about to start.
Students rush around the classroom
Each student finds their seats and quickly quiets down

Now that everyone has taken their seats I have an announcement to make.
Nakamura-sensei gestures to someone outside the room inviting them in
The boy enters the room energetically. He waisted no time to get himself standing next to the teacher
When he entered the classroom, however, all feel silent and he eluded a air of importance
Nakamura-sensei
This is your new classmate. He’ll be joining us here starting today.
Nakamura-sensei informs the students
Then addresses the newcomer beside him

Introduce yourself
Takumi Tanaka
My name is Takumi Tanaka

It’s a pleasure to meet you
As he said that Takumi tilted his head backwards
He now stared down his nose at his classmates
At that same moment Hiroki looked directly at Takumi’s eyes
And Takumi glanced his way

Thank you, Tanaka.

You’ll have time to get acquainted with the others later

For now, please take a seat

There is an empty table in the back by the window
The available seat was the one in front of Hiroki’s table
But Hiroki didn’t seem to notice he was getting a new desk neighbor
As he was quick to lose focus on the transfer student
Instead he stared out the window
Nakamura-sensei
Could you please pay attention?!
Hiroki Yamamoto
Were you talking to me, Nakamura-sensei?
Nakamura-sensei
*sigh* not yet
Nakamura-sensei
But I was about to
Nakamura-sensei had a clear expression of tired frustration

Would you please help Tanaka?

Since he’s new he’ll be needing some help
Hiroki was a bit surprised by the request
He was glad he was given the opportunity to help someone else

Both boys leave the classroom
They walk a bit until they reach a double door
There Hiroki stops, pointing at the door.

But before we head in,

Hiroki led Takumi through the double doors
Inside the library was spacious
The light from the sun poured in from the window
