This is Cherry, also known as Cher, the quite girl sitting in the back of the class who no one talks to but gossips about behind their back, third year of university, 2 years older than Lily.

Any friend? Yes, only one who is just like her, never interested to talk to anyone else but her, have been friends since high school.

Love status: Heartbroken 💔 in both friendship and relationship.

Lily

This is Lalote, mostly known as Lily. She was born in a rich family, a part of the 'mean girls' group though she was never really mean to anyone because she doesn't want anyone to hate her. So basically she is popular because she is rich and her dad is an actor. Though she tries her best to not make people hate her there are still many people that think of her as their enemy. You know, the stereotype of "All rich people are mean" thing. She does have a true friend and obviously the 'mean girls' are also her "friends".

Love status: have dated many guys but never had a crush or liked any of them cause they didn't either.

Now that we know them. Let's get to the story, shall we?

Lily is talking to her friend Jenny about their studies.

Lily's Pov:

"You're going to university tomorrow. Aren't you excited?" Jenny asks with a bit of curiosity even when she knows the answer.

I get a bit startled with the sudden question but then manage to give her an answer

"I am! But I am nervous at the same time. What if people hate me like my previous school?"

I don't get it. Does being rich make you mean? I don't know if she can see that I am not kidding about it and I am genuinely worried about the matter.

"Don't worry! You're nice and you're beautiful. Why would they hate you?"

I mean she's right but that's not what others think though. Then again I am still the same person so if people hated me in my previous school, it is possible for people in here to do the same.

I reply trying to sound sarcastic "Well, the ones from my previous school did!"

I can see Jenny gets worried for a second there and is genuinely trying to cheer me up when she says,

"You know what, I think you should not care about who hates you and who doesn't. If they want to hate you, just let them. It's their loss!" Is it their loss though?

I guess she is right but I still can't help worrying about it but I think I'll try to not put much thought to it.

"Yeah, You're right......... I guess." I say while trying to brush those negative thoughts out of my mind.

The Next day

Cherry is in the bathroom with her friend Del washing her hands while they overhear the conversation two girls beside them are having...

The random girl is talking to her about something she looks around but doesn't see Cher and Del since they are in the corner of the bathroom.

"Do you know that there's a new girl joining today?" Says she with admiration in her voice.

"Yeah! I heard she's really beautiful and is a freshman too." replies the girl next to her with excitement.

"Do you think she can be our friend?" The previous girl asks her friend.

The expression of the girl changes in the blink of an eye. Her friend rolls her eyes, "No way! She's way too rich to be with us. Her dad's a world known actor. She will most likely be really mean anyways."

"Yeah, I agree." The girl says, and leaves the bathroom, the admiration look goes off too.

After those girls leave the bathroom, Cherry and Del come to the front. Cherry looks at Del, gives a bit sassy and confused look, twitches her mouth and they both laugh out loud. Seems like an inside joke, typical besties!

"Who's the new girl everyone's talking about? It's the third time I heard someone talking about her" Cherry asks.

"I don't know either! I just know that she was really popular in her previous school" Del replies being a bit of annoyed which is very obvious.

Cherry rolls her eyes, still slightly laughing "Must be so tiring being a popular girl. I could never!" She says with frustration.

After that, they both come out of the bathroom. Del looks around first, then looks at Cher and gives her an 'ah shit' look.

Cherry looks at Del confusedly, squints her eyes and raises her eyebrow hinting 'what happened' then Del says

"Umm....Cher, I need to go. I forgot I still haven't finished my assignment."

Cherry sighs and looks at her like 'seriously?' but says,

"Okay....... Then, See ya''

Del goes running so Cherry shouts, "You can copy mine if you want!"

Del goes running to the classroom, leaving Cher alone in the Hall room. Cherry goes ahead and starts walking to the cafeteria to get something to eat when *bam*

A random girl carrying a bag and a file comes running and bumps into her. The file drops on the floor. The girl was looking back so Cher didn't see her face then the girl bends down to pick up the file and papers that are scattered around the floor.

"Oh, I am really really sorry for that. I am new here so I don't know the way to my class." She says with a gorgeous voice while gathering together the mess she has just made.

"Do you need any help picking those up?" Cherry say being the helper she always is.

"No, it's totally fine. You.. don't have to......." The girl starts to slowly lift her head to see the gentlewoman talking to her and when she sees the gorgeous face of Cherry, she is too stunned to speak and her heart stops beating for a few seconds. She feels like a whole zoo is wandering in her stomach. Caught up in the moment, she doesn't realise that she had been staring at Cherry's face for more than a minute now.

Cherry Snaps to get her out of wherever her mind was "Hey, are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Says she with a worried tone.

"Hmm? Umm...... n-no. Umm... I think I should go now. I am getting late to class." Lily gets so nervous she starts sluttering and gets up trying to run away.

She already ran past the hallway when she hears Cherry shout,

"Hey! At least tell me your name!"

But she pretends not to hear it and leaves for her classes.

Cherry sighs and slightly smiles at how silly the situation just was in her opinion "What a weird girl!" She says with slight confusion.

But then the confusion raises a bit more as the girl looked familiar and she thinks to herself 'But wait, Do I know her?' she tries to give it a thought but can't remember at all so she tries to brush it off by saying 'must be my imagination or probably someone who looks similar' but

little did she know that it isn't gonna get out of her mind at such ease.

Half an hour later of the incident

Cherry was in class although the teacher still hadn't come. But she comes out of the class hearing so much noise outside to check what is up.

"What the hell is going on? I know there's a freshy programme today but they don't normally scream like that!" Cherry says looking around.

She sees a bunch of girls going somewhere where the screaming is coming from so she stops a girl to ask what is going on,

"Where are you going?" She asks with a curious yet frustrated voice.

"The freshmen are introducing themselves on the ground stage. There's also the star's daughter. People are going crazy." The girl replies with respect but is a bit scared.

Cherry rolls her eyes again "Ugh! Seriously? There's like hundreds of freshmen. Nobody gets as much attention as her."

"Well, not all of them are superstar's daughters." The girl replies.

"So what?" She says looking directly into the girl's eyes trying to make her scared.

"You're wasting my time. Are you going there or not?" The girl asks.

"Yeah, I guess, I am!" She replies with an uninterested face full of annoyance and frustration.

She walks behind the girl and goes in front of the ground stage trying to see between the crowd

Cherry again gets annoyed "Too much attention!" And walks forward. Finally she realises once she gets a clear look of the girl's face that this is....

"Wait, isn't it the same girl I bumped into earlier? Delllllll??" Cher shouts around looking for Del.

"If you're here just to insult her you can leave. She's my idol." a random girl replies to Cher hating on her.

Cherry fixes her glasses and smirks a bit out of annoyance

"Bro! Do you have any idea who you're talking to? And what is she your idol for? She's not a superstar. Her dad is! Kids nowadays!" She rolls her eyes again.

Del sees her, wave at her and comes in pushing the crowd "Hey?! Why are you here?" Del says bumping Cherry's shoulder with hers.

"Where were you?" The annoyance in Cher's face is obvious.

"I went to bring us some snacks. What about you? Why a long face?" Del asks in a teasing voice not really caring enough for an answer.

"This and that. Hey, Del. Do you know that girl?" Cher asks Del curiously pointing at the girl on the stage with a Mike in her hand.

"Who? The new, popular girl over there? No!" Del says with a slight suspicious voice making Cherry question.

Hearing her, Cherry looks around and then again looks at Del with even more confusion. She acts as if something is making her head spin.

"Do you?" Del lifts her eyebrow.

Cherry gets even more confused "I mean, she looks familiar somehow. But not exactly!"

"Wait a minute! Is she staring at you?" Del looks at Lily trying to figure out concerned.

"I don't know but that's creepy!" Cherry sounds a bit scared.

"Is there anything on my face?"

"Nah, that couldn't be the reason why a random girl would stare at you like that!" Well, she has a point.

Lily's Pov:

I take the Mike that was handed to me, I look at the crowd. Why is it always like this? Can't I stay like a normal person for once? and that's when I notice and My eyes get wide when I see.......Phi Cherry? what is she doing here? She's making me nervous!- why?? but I gotta hold my hold so I take a deep breath and start introducing myself.

"Hi, I am Lalote. You can call me Lily. I was in Parot school before and just joined today as a freshman. Thanks, for giving me a chance to introduce myself."- I am so nervous but I manage to get through this until the crowd starts shouting "SING A SONG" -oh gosh no... I can't do this. My dad can sing. I can't.... I am already nervous enough! Now not this! The crowd is getting louder.

I guess I have no choice... The teacher are getting blocked by the crowd. They'll curse me if I don't finish this as fast as I can.

"Umm... Ok so.... Only one song, okay?" Nooooo.... I don't wanna do this.... I don't like this! Wait, but what if..... I am not the only one getting stuck in this position? "But.. may I have a volunteer to sing with me?''

Anyone singing beside me would probably be better as long as it's not..... "I volunteer" someone raises their hand in the crowd. I look down to look at the person with obvious fear and MY luck! Of course, it is the person I want it not to be! PHI CHERRY!!! That's what you call digging your own grave! Okay...... Lily, get yourself together. You got this. You gotta finish this ASAP.

"umm.. Ok, come up stage and introduce yourself." I hope I don't mess this up!

Seeing her come up stage and so close to me after such a long time reminds me of the old time when we....... No, Lily, get yourself together. This is not the time!!

"I don't think I need to introduce myself." She says with a smile that could light up the world. Such a perfect smile she got!

But wait, everyone knows her already? Oh, yeah, she's a third year! It's not a surprise! But I hope that's all the reason.

The crowd goes totally silent once she and I start singing.

But wait people are throwing flowers??? How cute!

Wait!!!NO!

That's a freaking flower!! I am not supposed to slip on it!!

God, save me from this embarrassment!!

The freshmen are really something! instead of helping me, they are screaming!! Wait!

"Be careful. Will you?" Who caught me? Please no... Phi Cher!! She's so close to my face! I am gonna faint if this goes on!

"I-I am sorry." yeah, I am sluttering again! Why do I always make it so obvious?? Why does my heart have to beat this fast?

Ok at least I got up! I guess that's it cause I can't breathe!! This tension is too much for me!!

"Phi!! I- I think I sho- ould go!" And here I go again!!! I literally forget how to talk once she gets close to me!

Author's pov:

The same day.. but just after they finish their classes. it's Jenny and Lily talking but Lily is still in the moment of what had happened

"a senior of my school is throwing a party this Friday. Are you coming?" Jenny asks but gets no answer. She looks at Lily confusedly wondering where her mind was!

"Lily? Lily?" Jenny calls out her name multiple times but she doesn't seem to be here.

"LILY?" Jenny shouts. "What are you thinking?" Jenny asks being genuinely concerned.

"Oh sorry. Did you say something?" Lily asks finally getting back from her Dreamland of imagination.

"Are you coming to the party?" Jenny again asks.

"What party?" Lily asks confusedly.

"Oh god, you know what? Forget it? Ok? but you know you can talk to me if you have something in mind, right?" Jenny looks concerned.

"Hmm....." She seems to be in deep thoughts.

"So, what's up?" Jenny asks again.

"Do you remember P'Cherry?" Lily clenches her teeth and gives a weird look as if she didn't really know how to put it out there.

"P'Cherry from middle school? Of course, I do! She was your best friend, wasn't she?" Jenny gets a little excited but Lily stays silent.

"well, you and P'Cherry were best friends, right?" Now Jenny is lost since she got no answer.

"yeah" Lily replies after a while with a unexpected and surprisingly low voice.

"but you know when you told me about her, I was a bit confused, she's not even your same age, how did you two get so close then?" Jenny asks curiously.

"well, our families were close before we were even born" says Lily.

"But I thought P'Cherry doesn’t live with her family anymore, does she?" Jenny asks again with a bit of confusion.

"I have no idea. I wasn't able to contact her as she didn’t have a phone." Lily gets a bit annoyed from all the questions and answers which is showing on her face.

"So how exactly did you become best friends?" Jenny asks again.

"It's a long story. Are you sure you wanna hear it?" Lily let her know beforehand.

"oh, Don't worry. I have time." Jenny says looking at her watch.

"Ok, then, listen up"

"I am all ears. Go on."

*Flashback*

It all started when my mom and dad were dating in their University years. Before they started dating they used to be in the same high school. They were friends and liked each other for a long  time. They were both 18 when dad finally confessed and they started dating.

They moved in together during their first anniversary. And P'Cherry's mom (Liu) and her family were their neighbours. Liu was 2 years younger than my mom. She was 17 when my parents moved in their neighbourhood.

In the meantime, my mom made a great bond with Liu. Liu always used to sit by the side of a pool in our neighbourhood to relax. So my mom also used to sit there and talk to her sometimes. She was young and had many problems in her life as a normal teenager and my mom was the only one she could actually talk to about those problems.

A year passed, one day my mom noticed that she didn't see Liu for a few days now. She thought she was sick and went to their house to ask what happened. But she found out that her mother (Liu's mom) married her off to a wealthy man without telling anyone because they were financially unstable to raise her and pay for her education besides she was 18 then so it was legal to marry her off.

My mom was so pissed at Liu's mother but couldn't say anything as she was in no place to scold her for that. She asked if she could tell her where she is now but she refused to.

My mom lost all contact with Liu and never saw her again. She told all her friends about Liu's incident. In the meantime, my parents got married.

And after 2 years, one of my mom's friends massaged her saying she knows how Liu is and told her that she died while giving birth to a girl. And yes, that girl is P'Cherry. My mom felt really bad for her but couldn't do anything. It was too late. She tried to contact Cherry's dad. But couldn't.

2 years later, I was born. My parents had no idea where Cherry and her dad were and how they were doing.

Days passed, Cherry got into middle school. My mom found out that she was admitted into a school near our house. Cherry and her dad moved in their old house of p'Cherry's mom in our neighbourhood.

My parents were so happy to see Cherry again and admitted me to the same school as Cherry when I got into middle school. Me and Cherry often used to play together when we were younger.

And that's how we became best friends.

"wow! What a story! I was so into it that I didn't say anything during the whole story. What happened after though?" Yes, Jenny, who is usually very talkative didn't say a word between the whole storytelling.

Lily gets a bit sad but still replies to her question.

"just after when p'Cherry finished middle school they again moved out of there and went back to where they used to live back then. I was really sad and alone after she moved out. My parents were never even able to get her contacts due to the refusal of her father."
