The door slammed shut, the sound echoing through the house like a gunshot. My heart hammered against my ribs as I peeked out from the kitchen doorway. There, silhouetted against the warm glow of the bar, stood my husband. His knuckles were white as his grip tightened around the edge of the counter, his shoulders hunched.
He poured himself a generous glass of whiskey, his movements jerky and tense, like a tightly wound spring on the verge of snapping. His tie lay discarded on the floor like a defeated flag, and his white shirt, usually crisp and immaculate, was now crumpled and stained with sweat. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it in a disarray that mirrored the storm brewing inside him.
I said softly, setting down the book I was reading.

No, I'm certainly not okay after being overworked all day!
Concern in my voice as I brought him a glass of water

He sighs, and left the bar
He took a long, and a hot shower to wash away the stress that the day had brought. He was still angry, but the shower had helped him calm down a little. He got out of the shower, and looked in the mirror. He still looked tired and angry, his face was red and his hair was still wet. He ran a hand through his hair and walked out of the bathroom.

He went to the study, sat down at his desk to work on some papers.
I went to his desk before he could get started on the paper work I sat on his lab while facing him
He was startled as I sat on his lap. He looked up at me and frowned angrily

I don't see why you think it's appropriate to sit yourself on my lap just when I'm trying to work.

He rested his hands on your shoulders and gently leaned his head against yours
