Better Than Dreams

HER EYES

As I walked into the crowded café, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. I had heard so much about this place from my friends and finally, I was going to meet her for the first time. The one everyone called my first love.

As I made my way through the tables, searching for her, I couldn't help but think back to the day we first met. It was a warm summer day, and I had just moved into the neighborhood. I was unpacking boxes in my new home when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find a beautiful girl with a bright smile standing on my doorstep.

"Hi, I'm Lily," she said, extending her hand towards me.

I was instantly captivated by her beauty and charm. We started talking and soon found out that we had a lot in common. We both loved reading, hiking, and trying out new restaurants. From that day on, we became inseparable.

As I continued to look around the café, I finally saw her sitting at a corner table. My heart skipped a beat as I made my way towards her. She was even more beautiful than I remembered. Her long, curly hair cascaded down her shoulders, and her hazel eyes sparkled in the dim lighting of the café.

"Hi, Lily," I said, my voice filled with excitement.

"Hey," she replied, her face breaking into a wide smile.

We hugged, and it felt like no time had passed since we last saw each other. We ordered our drinks and spent the next few hours catching up. We talked about our lives, our dreams, and everything in between. It was like we were never apart.

As the evening turned into night, we were the last ones left in the café. I looked at her, and in that moment, I knew that I was still in love with her. I had never felt this way about anyone before. She was my first love, and I knew deep down that she would always hold a special place in my heart.

As the weeks went by, we started seeing each other more often. We would go on long walks, have picnics in the park, and spend countless hours talking about anything and everything. I felt like I was living in a fairytale, and she was my princess.

But as they say, all good things must come to an end. One day, Lily told me that she had to move to another city for a job opportunity. My heart sank, and I couldn't imagine my life without her. We promised to stay in touch, but as the distance grew, so did the space between us.

We would still talk on the phone and text each other, but it wasn't the same. I missed her presence, her laughter, and her touch. I knew I had to do something before it was too late. So, I planned a surprise visit to her new city.

As I knocked on her door, I could feel my heart racing. She opened the door, and her face lit up with surprise and joy. We spent the next few days exploring the city, and it felt like we were back to our old selves again. But as the days passed, I knew that I couldn't keep running away from the truth.

On our last night together, I took her out to a fancy restaurant, and as we sat under the starry sky, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she whispered a yes before wrapping her arms around me. In that moment, I knew that I had found my forever with my first love.

Years have passed since that night, and Lily and I are now happily married with a beautiful child. We have our ups and downs, but I know that she will always be my first love, the one who showed me what true love feels like. And as I look back at our journey, I can't help but feel grateful for that chance encounter on a warm summer day that changed my life forever.
