The Ottoman Empire, historically and colloquially known as the Turkish Empire, was an empire that controlled much of Southeast Europe, West Asia, and North Africa between the 14th and early 20th centuries. The empire also controlled parts of southeastern Central Europe from the early 16th to the early 18th century.
Memo
Gah damñ they ruled for more than 600 years in like 1.8 million km
Peachy
So how is ottoman emprie related to the story of Palestine you might ask
In 1486, hostilities broke out between the Mamluks and the Ottoman Turks in a battle for control over western Asia. The Ottomans proceeded to conquer Palestine following their 1516 victory over the Mamluks at the Battle of Marj Dabiq. The Ottoman conquest of Palestine was relatively swift, with small battles fought against the Mamluks in the Jordan Valley and at Khan Yunis en route to the Mamluk capital in Egypt. There were also minor uprisings in Gaza, Ramla and Safad, which were quickly suppressed.
Peachy
Ye so exactly, Palestine was under the rule of ottoman emprie, they ruled in Palestine for 402 years (1516-1918),
Peachy
But there was a lil problem
Peachy
In February 1799, Emperor Napoleon of France entered Palestine after conquering Egypt as part of his campaign against the Ottomans, who were allied with his enemy, the British Empire. He occupied Gaza and moved north along Palestine's coastal plain,
Memo
Napoleon took over? but didn't ottomans ruled till like 1916?
Peachy
Napoleon called for Jewish support to capture Jerusalem. This was done to gain favor with Haim Farhi, Jazzar's Jewish vizier.
Peachy
So eventually the the land of Jerusalem and Palestine went to the jews
Eemo
Bro had the worse idea ever
Peachy
But after like 30 years or so
Peachy
In October 1831, Muhammad Ali of Egypt dispatched his modernized army commanded by his son Ibrahim Pasha in a campaign to annex Ottoman Syria, including Palestine
Peachy
He than conquered the Palestine and The Egyptian army retreated to Egypt. Muhammad Ali signed the Treaty of 1841. Britain returned control of the Levant to the Ottomans
Memo
So the ottomans had Palestine again with the help of Egyptians
Eemo

Peachy
Anyways lets get started
Peachy
Last time we talked bout ottoman emprie and how it ruled over Palestine for ages
Peachy
Just so y'all known, Under the rule of ottoman empire Palestine had a very peaceful environment
The Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities of Palestine were allowed to exercise jurisdiction over their own members according to charters granted to them.
Peachy
In conclusion People of various religion had fairly good rights
Peachy
But what happened after that?
Peachy
Because of the freedom the "rise of Zionism" began
The rise of Zionism, the national movement of the Jewish people started in Europe in the 19th century seeking to recreate a Jewish state in Palestine, and return the original homeland of the Jewish people. The end of the 19th century saw the beginning of Zionist immigration.
Peachy
Zionism. / (ˈzaɪəˌnɪzəm) /
- a political movement for the establishment and support of a national homeland for Jews in Palestine.
Peachy
After when the Zionist immigration started
The "First Aliyah" was the first modern widespread wave of aliyah. Jews who migrated to Palestine in this wave came mostly from Eastern Europe and from Yemen. This wave of aliyah began in 1881–82 and lasted until 1903, bringing an estimated 25,000 Jews to Land of Israel. In 1891, a group of Jerusalem notables sent a petition to the central Ottoman government in Istanbul calling for the cessation of Jewish immigration, and land sales to Jews.
Peachy
"aliyah" mean immigration to Israel or to be more exact the holy land of Jerusalem. also knows as Palestine and majid al aqsa
Peachy
Shortly after that began the "second aliyah"
"Second Aliyah" took place between 1904 and 1914, during which approximately 35,000 Jews immigrated, mostly from Russia and Poland
Peachy
Bringing in roughly 60 thousands jews immigrants to the land of Palestine
Memo
Bro thats a load of immigration
Memo
How did the ottoman empire even allowed this scale of immigration?
Eemo
And they say that "Palestinian land belongs to them" when in reality they were just immigrants and refugees
Peachy
Ottoman empire was on verge of end at that point so there was not much they could've done
Eemo
They not badďies anymore i see
Memo
Gàh damn i wanna know what happened after that
Peachy
But that its for this chapter
Eemo
Finally i can go to sleep

The great war or also widely know as world war 1
Peachy
With the casualties of around 40 million, 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians.
Eemo
I bet Britishers started this
Peachy
so the question is how is this related to Palestine?
During the First World War the Ottomans sided with the German Empire and the Central Powers. As a result, they were driven from much of the region by the British Empire during the dissolution phase of the Ottoman Empire.
Under the secret Sykes–Picot Agreement of 1916, it was envisioned that most of Palestine, when conquered from the Ottoman empire, would become an international zone not under direct French or British colonial control. Shortly thereafter, British foreign minister Arthur Balfour issued the Balfour Declaration, which promised to establish a "Jewish national home" in Palestine
Memo
Its always the Britishers for some gah damn reason
Nemo
They pro in stealing other people's land lmao
Peachy
What is Skyes-picot agreement
Peachy
To explain it in simple humble words, it was an agreement proposed by Britishers and French to Arabs.
Peachy
Basically they said to arabs "oh come and help us defeat the ottomans and we'll give you the levant"
Peachy
Levant in french meant the east
or in today's definition "middle east" which was under ottomans at that time, it included morden day Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, syria etc
Peachy
So guess what, arabs agreed on this agreement
Eemo
I bet Britishers & French were like "oops I lied i aint giving you the Levant 🤭tehee"
The British Egyptian Expeditionary Force, commanded by Edmund Allenby, captured Jerusalem on 9 December 1917 and occupied the whole of the Levant following the defeat of Turkish/ottoman forces in Palestine at the Battle of Megiddo in September 1918 and the capitulation of Turkey on 31 October.
Peachy
They won against the ottomans.
Peachy
and yes eemo is right
Peachy
Britishers said to arabs "Sike I lied I ain't giving you the Levant now"
Eemo
Hahaha im always right
Memo
Arabs got the worse L in the whole century
Nemo
Lmao got what they deserved
McMahon's (British diplomat) promises could have been seen by Arab nationalists as a pledge of immediate Arab independence, an undertaking violated by the region's subsequent partition into British and French League of Nations mandates under the secret Sykes-Picot Agreement of May 1916, which became the real cornerstone of the geopolitics structuring the entire region. The Balfour Declaration, likewise, was seen by Jewish nationalists as the cornerstone of a future Jewish homeland.
Peachy
Basically Arthur Balfour the forgien prime minister of British loved jews for some reason and he promised to the that he'll give them the land of Palestine, when ottomans lost Jerusalem/ land of palestine.
jews saw this as an opportunity and celebrated likewise
Memo
Wow Palestine stuck in middle of all this
Eemo
Britishers are always to blame, change my mind
Peachy
We'll continue this next time!
Eemo
Comment *if you think Britishers always created the problem*
