Life is such a fragile thing, in an instance it could be snatched up right in front of you and you would get enough time to process what really happened before your life expires, of course there has always been a belief that you'd go somewhere after death, heaven, hell, or even reincarnation, of course no one's ever proved those theories true, I mean there's never been a case of someone dying and coming back to life to tell the tale of what's in the beyond, though if they'd ever did they'd tell a story of a place that closely resembles what people would call controlled chaos, a highly populated city with no rules yet it somehow is kept in some sort of chaotic order, with people from all walks of life, good and bad, poor and rich, young and old.
This is what everyone looks forward to when dying, walking up and having to once again trudge through a second life with more hardships you could ever bear.
Of course to make sure people don't just give up on their second life, there's always karma points but that is an explanation for another time.
This story is about a young boy and his everyday adventures in the city the denizens named limbo 9.9.
_____________
The first thought that came to my mind was 'I have a pounding headache' not that impressive really, but much better than I expected considering the fact that a few seconds ago I swear I died in a hospital bed, and now instead of seeing hospital equipment I was staring at a short sentence that has definitely been spray painted, on a white wall that's been stained yellow from too much water, and it read 'welcome to limbo 9.9 enjoy the rest of your miserable fucking afterlife'
'Well that's just great seriously if this truly is the afterlife shouldn't there be a guide to help me through this or maybe even a guide book' I think as I look further around the room, 'nope just a really broken down room, and geez it seems what ever being sent me here had a sick taste in humor, well at least I'm not standing around in my hospital wear I was in before my death, that would be a disaster but seriously making me wear a black shirt with 'I'm not dead I'm just an insomniac' on it, I mean what's with that, well at least they left me with a damn comfortable pair of jeans and it seems that dying finally got rid of my allergic reaction to them, and my preference to alway wear sneakers has prevailed once again, but seriously I gotta get a better look at where the **** I am' and with that final decision I walked over to a rickety old wooden door that I had spotted earlier, and tried the door nob but when it didn't budge I backed up and sent my foot flying at the door and kicked it right off it's hinges and I walked through not waiting for the dust to settle.
"Acho, …..dammit it seems as though I still have my dust allergies and seriously why do I always sneeze like a kitten it's damn annoying" I grumbled to myself, as I looked up to check out where the hell I had ended up as the dust finally settled.
My first thought as I looked down at my new home was 'god fucking dammit what in the 7 rings of hell is this bloody shit'
Obviously I completely underestimated how crazy this place truly is because when I first got a good look at the place I had ended up in I was stunned to find just how different it was to my life before.
What I laid my eyes on was complete chaos, it seemed I had awakened somewhere up high as I looked out on to different houses ranging from rickety shacks to posh expensive mansions went on for miles all practically on top of each other, it seemed that this place that looked like a city was in some sort of valley, as house went hi higher and higher until they stopped just on the top of the ledge. Each house in my surrounding area was completely different from the last and although a lot of the houses looked broken down poor the city itself didn't look the least bit poor as in between the mix of poorly looked after and plainly normal houses stood super rich and luxurious houses meaning that surely not everyone was dirt poor.
I kept my eyes scanning up and down the valley looking at every little detail from the weird houses to the weirder people roaming the streets, it seems that your able to change your appearance here considering the fact that I have seen multiple people with nonhuman characteristics like wings and general appearances, like naturally colourful or just plain different, fire and water hair.
Finally I caught sight of something that interested me, in the middle of this place I'm guessing is limbo 9.9 there's a change of the scenery as it goes from the usual weird houses to a more spread out and less chaotic area, it seemed that it was shopping district as I saw people walking with shopping bags as they walked or sitting down eating food and chatting with friends, though the most interesting thing was a huge building at the end of the district, it had four big spiral towers in a square and and a structure with huge doors that was open wide enough to let people wonder in and out, with tall and breath-taking coloured glass that seemed to shine with the a non-existent natural light which was more likely to be the artificial light.
That place seemed like a good place to start finding the answers to the questions that were swirling around in my head, so with that decision I started my long walk down the twisty streets and alleyways of this new place I had ended up in.
It was weird, I knew if anyone else was put in my situation they'd be freaking out right now but as I walked threw the streets of this crazy and unimaginable city taking note of every little thing that was considered out of the ordinary my mind felt strangely numb, like my mind hadn't fully realised what had happened, like this was all just a dream and I was going to wake up any second now, still lying in my hospital with the same old respirator over my mouth and nose, as I watch days go on without me, watch the people I once thought I truly knew slowly drift away from me, their visits becoming less and less frequent until one day I realised I hadn't seen or heard from them for over two months, and I finally realised they won't be coming by anymore. I never blamed them for giving up on me, deep down I knew that in the end they had their own lives to live and that I was just a painful reminder that death is closer than they think, so with that I lived what I knew would be my last few days in complete peace. But if this really was just some sick dream my mind had thought up to from fearing the inevitability of what's to come why does it feel so real, why can I feel my own hands, and to an extent the road underneath my felt, why am I able to hear and smell things with such precision that I wouldn't been able to if this really was a dream.
My mind couldn't find the answers to those questions so I pushed them to the back of my mind, ruffle my hair in frustration and slowly started to walk again, in which I hadn't even realised I'd stopped in the first place, leaving those questions for a later date and started on my mission to get down to that building I saw again, though I didn't get too far because I was once again stopped though this time it was because of a external problem more than an internal one.
"Hey kid!!, hey ya you!!, don't ignore me!!,I know you can hear me!!" A women shouted from what looked like a little information booth that was somehow randomly on the side of the road looking really out of place even for this city, she was wildly waving her hand at me trying to get my attention, so I did what anyone would do in this situation and under my breath sarcastically said "yeah as well as anyone in a five mile radius" though the women seemed to both hear me and completely brush over what I had just said as she beamed at me, showing her shiney and quite sharp looking teeth before she said "hah! I knew you could hear me, come over here, don't be shy, I won't bite, well most of the time, but! Never mind that, let's talk about you, you're a newbie to this whole afterlife thing right" as she led further over the stand as she looked excitedly at me. "Err, yeah how'd you know" I say hesitantly as I slowly got closer "I just have an knack for this sort of thing, the names Molly nice ta meetcha, don't let the sharp teeth, purple hair and blue skin full yal I'm a real softy, wouldn't hurt a fly if I didn't need too" she said holding her pale blue hand out for me to shake, "nice meet you too I guess, my names Scott" I said returning the handshake, shivering a little when my hands touch's hers.
"Your probably a little confused right now but don't worry I'll tell you everything you need to know to survive long enough to make yourself comfortable in this crazy *** city" she said as we let go of the handshake, leaning her hands against the table she smiled mischievously at me and said "so have ya ever heard of karma points"
"Karma what now"
