Nor hear my heartbeat...

I can feel myself drowning each second...

And I can't stop it…

"(Gasp) What was that strange dream I just had?..". She stood up from her bed and walked straight outside. "(opened the door wide) What the…"

It was snowing, and the windows froze and the homeless people shivered. The town was a very poor town, there were hardly any food because of the temperature and there were always thunderstorms which made it difficult to escape. But it had gotten worse, no one went out to work again because of how cold it was since people could barely survive.

Each month, they'd send someone to look for help but eventually when they reach shore, they abandon the quest completely and leave us all behind. We lose more than 23 people every year talk about now we are only a few. We do our best to survive and held meetings every day, we read our vows every day and night but ending up getting betrayed, again.

"(Takes fishing rod and heads to the sea) Its freezing…". Her name is Norlin, she's the best girl in town. She's the one who kept most of us safe and sound. If not for her, Hah, we would have been dead a long time ago

(Throws the fishing rod hoping to catch something). (Stomach growling) "Ugh, it would've been easier is those lazy heads would help".

"If I should have known, I would have listened to my mother and stayed back in the city, but the city got flooded and dad drowned on his way back". "Either way they would have but died, I would've too". (groan) "To be honest, I'd rather die".

"I think I caught something!!"

"What is this trash? A book?".

"God why???".

Norlin threw the book aside and decided to try again for better luck, but she didn't succeed. So she decided to look at the book hoping it was a how-to-escape guide. She opened it but to her surprise, everything changed into some kind of magical wonderland.

"What..What is this?!"

Norlin ran around hoping to find a way out but the more she ran, the more land that generates. She ran and ran until she reached a dark swamp. She stoped and started wandering into the swamp.

Frogs crooked...

Crickets made noise...

Bugs buzzed…

And the dirty swamp water bubbled…

Suddenly a huge tsunami came out of nowhere, swallowing the whole swamp and was heading directly at Norlin. She ran the other direction and there was a dead end, so she jumped off the cliff without second thoughts. That's when she thought she was dead already but to her surprise she didn't feel like she was falling anymore. She landed on a rock, in the distance, there was her small town all peaceful and healthy.

" Town…Town… Home! Home! I'm going Home!!". She said Happily.

Norlin took a step forward not knowing what she was doing, in the instant she felt herself in the sea, drowning. The see became darker and darker until she couldn't see anything anymore.

"(gasp) What was that??"

She looked around and noticed she was back at where she was, the book no longer in her hands. She took a look at the village and noticed it wasn't like what she saw. Norlin started to think it was an illusion..

But..

Was it?..
