"Good morning." I greeted my dad and gave him a morning kiss on the cheek.

"You're up. Where's Kimiko?'' Dad asked as I took my seat beside him.

"She'll be here soon. Actually, I've been up for a while. Kimiko kept disturbing me in my room." I reported to Dad, making him chuckle before he served me a plate with ham and rice.

"Aren't you used to your sister's antics by now?"

"'Um... Dad, I'm used to it, really. I might as well just remove the door to my room and let her come and go as she pleases." I said, annoyed, but Dad just laughed.

"How are Lueha and Hamari doing?"

'They're okay, nothing much has changed.' I replied, taking a bite of my ham.

"Good morning, Dad."Kimiko greeted, kissing Dad on the cheek.

"Alright, let's eat. Afterward, I have something important to discuss with both of you." Dad suddenly turned serious, catching Kimiko's excited response.

"What's that, Dad?"

"I said, after we finished eating. Excited, Kimiko?'

'Oh, I said after we finished eating.' Kimiko playfully retorted, not fully believing Dad.

Kimiko's pov.

After our meal, we went straight to Dad's office, and it was clear that the upcoming discussion was significant.

"Okay, I won't beat around the bush. I want you two to go to the Philippines and enroll at Haruko University. Find out why many of our mafia associates are disappearing. You've learned a lot about combat, and you're well-versed in using various weapons.'

Akane's pov.

I knew that wasn't the only reason, and I sensed a deeper motive behind Dad's decision. Even though he didn't explicitly say it, I already knew.

"But Dad!"

"'No buts, Kimiko."

"How will you manage here, Dad?"

"I can handle myself, Akane. Don't worry; I have plenty of people watching over me," Dad assured and took a sip of his juice.

"Even so, Dad, it's better if we're here with you. We can ensure your safety."

"Please, Akane, you need to go. I'm begging both of you and Kimiko."

"And one more favor... You need to wear nerdy attire." Dad dropped a bombshell, making Kimiko widen her eyes in surprise. That was something she absolutely hated.

"Wait, wait, what?!"

"You heard me right, Kimiko?"

''But what about my fashionable clothes, Dad? How can you make me wear nerdy clothes at Haruko?"Kimiko protested, visibly upset.

''Okay, choose between dressing like a nerd or I'll take all your credit cards and cars.''

''No need for that, Dad. You know I'll agree, right, Akane?' Kimiko gave me a pleading look, and I just nodded, knowing how much she loved her cars.

''See, Dad, I told you."Kimiko grinned at Dad, even though she had already finished eating. She really knows how to bring a celebration into Dad's office.

"Alright, go to your rooms now to pack. You have an early flight tomorrow. I'll have the driver pick you up at the airport, along with the maids to prepare for your arrival at the mansion."

''Okay, Dad."We both replied, and Kimiko added a quick plea to take care of Gri.''

''Akane, are you ready for tomorrow?''

I gave Dad a reassuring smile. 'Yes, Dad.''

''Okay, I'll go to my room first.''After saying that, Kimiko left.

After five hours...

''I was about to sleep when Dad knocked on my door. ''Dad? Come in.''

''Dad sighed, looking somber. "Akane."

''What is it, Dad?''

''I know it's difficult, but it's been five years, my child. It's time for you to move on and find happiness.''

I held Dad's hand to let him know I'm okay and not ready to let go yet. ''I know, Dad, but it's hard for me to forget him.''

"But you must, Akane, for your own happiness. I'm sorry for putting you on this mission."

''It's okay, Dad. I understand.''

Dad kissed my forehead, and I wished Mom were still here. ''Thanks, just don't forget that I love both you and Kimiko dearly. Never forget that.''

''We love you too, Dad.''

''Alright, I'll leave you to rest.''

Dad left, and I thought he was right. It's been five years since Riffin's loss, and maybe it's time for me to forget him. Leaving the mafia world after that incident and distanced myself from trouble. Now, leaving Dad alone here is a big no for me. I can't risk his life just to solve problems within our mafia connections.

''Good morning, Akane. Wake up; it's already morning.''

''I'm still sleepy, Kimiko.''

''Do you remember what Dad told us yesterday?'' Kimiko asked, reminding me of our conversation with Dad.

''Oh, right! I almost forgot. I'm sorry, Kimiko.''I apologized to her and quickly grabbed my towel, realizing mine was already used up.

''It's alright. Hurry up and take a shower. Good thing I came to your room; otherwise, Dad would have sent the guards to carry you to the airport.'

''Wow, I'm embarrassed. You should have said so; I would carry you home when you're drunk.''

''Oh, please. I'm just kidding with you.'' Kimiko said, walking out in mock annoyance.

"Well, don't joke with someone who's already awake, especially not with someone freshly awakened."

After three hours of preparing our stuff, Kimiko and I finally made our way downstairs.

''Take care over there, and don't act suspicious. I'll call you, and Akane, I'll take care of Gri.''

''Okay, Dad. Please take care of him.'' I didn't bother saying goodbye to Gri; he might wake up and not let me leave.

''Can you handle going back to that place and facing everyone?'' Kimiko asked seriously, staring out the car window.

''Of course, I can.'' I replied, fastening her seatbelt and adjusting her hair, which got tangled in her haste earlier.

Kimiko suddenly hugged me, and I realized tears were streaming down my face. She wiped them away. "Is it time, Akane? I know it's hard to forget what happened between you and him, but you need to let go. Remember that we're here for you, along with Dad and our cousins."

After three hours of flight, they arrived in the Philippines.

Chapter: 2

I was having a good sleep when suddenly someone shook my arm. "Hey! Akane, wake up, we're already in the Philippines." Kimiko seemed overly excited; she almost made me fall from my seat with her enthusiastic wake-up call.

"Okay, okay! I'm wide awake now, thanks to you, dear sister. But please, be a bit gentle. If possible, okay? Are we clear?"

"Sorry." She apologized, scratching her head, then quickly wrapped her arms around mine.

Akane's pov…

It seems like nothing much has changed here; I gaze sadly at the sky and smile weakly. I softly whispered, closing my eyes, "I'm back again. I miss you so much. I love you."

Kimiko tapped my shoulder, interrupting my thoughts about Riffin.

"You've been silent there for a while. Didn't you hear what I said?" Kimiko sounded impatient, dropping her luggage and taking a seat. "It's taking quite a while for our ride to pick us up."

I took my phone from my pocket and immediately looked at Gri's picture on the screen. This is how I get when I miss my son. "Just wait a bit; he'll come. Trust me."

"Do Lueha and Hamari know we're in the Philippines?"

"I haven't told them yet. I'll call them when we're at the mansion so they can visit us there."

While Akane and I were talking, a black car suddenly stopped in front of us. The driver asked upon rolling down the window, "Excuse me, Miss, are you Ms. Akane and Ms. Kimiko?" The man in a black uniform and sunglasses inquired.

We simultaneously removed our sunglasses before answering, "Y-yes, that's us."

The driver got out and nodded at us before opening the car door. He placed our luggage in the back seat. "Rest for a while; the journey is still quite far. I'll wake you up when we reach the mansion."

"Thank you," Kimiko and I replied to the driver.

"Any news about her?" I asked Greg to make sure he really got rid of that woman.

"She's gone; you don't need to worry."

I sighed heavily, not feeling like leaning back in the swivel chair. "Find and kill her, Greg. That will be your last mission."

"Ma'am Akane and Ms. Kimiko, we're at the mansion now. Please go inside, and I'll take care of your luggage." The guard informed us.

Kimiko and I nodded at the guard and began to step inside the mansion. We saw maids and guards standing around a large fountain in the mansion, while another guard and maid were near the entrance.

"Welcome back, Ma'am Akane and Ma'am Kimiko." They all greeted us.

"Thank you for the warm welcome. Just call us Akane and Kimiko."

"Understood!" They replied in unison.

"Have you eaten? Would you like me to cook for you?" Another maid suggested.

"We're still full; maybe later. We'll rest for now; both my sister and I are tired from the journey."

"Alright, please follow me. I'll take you to your rooms so you can rest." The second maid said.

Upon reaching our adjacent rooms, the maid took the keys from her pocket and opened our doors. "This is your room, Ms. Akane, and the one across is Ms. Kimiko's."

We both smiled and thanked the maid. "Thank you."

She smiled back and introduced herself. "You can call me Lucy."

After Yaya Lucy left, I entered my room, pausing briefly to remember my conversation with Dad.

"Child."

"What is it, Dad?"

"Maybe you want to change your room to completely forget your difficult past. There will come a day when you'll return to the Philippines and live in the mansion again. It might be hard for you if you see things that remind you of Riffin. Maybe you want to throw away his pictures too."

"Dad, I know you have good intentions and don't want to hurt me, but those are the few beautiful things left from him. Let me keep whatever is in that room for now. I can't completely bury everything about Riffin. But I've tried to let him go, Dad. I know there's a right time for that."

Kimiko's pov...

It feels like it was just yesterday when we were all happy here. If only Kuya didn't disappear, we wouldn't have gone to Japan.

But in fairness, my room hasn't changed much. I just hope my sister can move on soon.

If it weren't for Yaya Lucy knocking, I wouldn't have noticed it was already night. I knocked on Kimiko's door first to suggest eating together.

"Kimiko! Wake up!"

She irritably opened her door, so I laughed; she's always fun to tease. "I'm already awake! You knock on my door like you want to break it."

"Hurry up! and follow me."

After we finished eating, my phone suddenly rang. It was Dad.

"Hello, Dad."

"Hello, my child," Dad's voice came through the phone.

"How are both of you doing there, Akane and Kimiko?" He asked again.

I sipped my coffee before responding. "We're okay, Dad, just tired from the journey. We just finished eating. How are you?"

"I'm okay too. I just kinda missed my two well-behaved kids." I nearly choked on my coffee hearing that. "Dad, really..."

I felt Dad's tone turning serious, so I listened carefully. "I called to tell you that you can now enroll at Haruko University. Just don't reveal your true identity. Do we understand each other? Your fake IDs are ready, and your uniforms and belongings will be with you tomorrow."

"Okay, Dad."

"Pass the phone to Kimiko; I want to talk to her." Dad instructed.

I signaled Kimiko to come closer and handed her the phone. "Dad wants to talk to you."

"Hello, Dad," I greeted him.

"How are you there?" Dad asked.

"I'm okay, just miss shouting around the house." Kimiko laughed softly, and I immediately switched the phone to loudspeaker so I could hear.

"Behave there. Avoid showing your abilities inside Haruko University. Do we understand each other?" Dad announced, his voice stern. Too much seriousness in my dad's nerves, indeed.

Chapter: 3

It's already noon, and Kimiko didn't even bother waking me up. I went down to the kitchen on my own since I'm hungry.

"Akane, are you awake?" Yaya Lucy asked with a smile, arranging the chairs and food on the table. So, I sat down, and she served rice and viand on my plate, also pouring mango juice into my glass.

"I just woke up. Where's Kimiko?" I asked while taking a bite of ham and hotdog.

Yaya Lucy paused before speaking. "She went out for a bit to buy something. I was about to wake you up earlier, but she said to wake you when she gets back."

Kimiko's pov…

It's already late, so I need to go home soon. If Akane wakes up and finds out I'm not at home, she'll definitely scold me, and she might even tell dad. My phone is off, too.

I hurriedly walked out of the mall, but suddenly, someone shoved me from behind. I almost hit my face on the floor. Damn! This guy is annoying. He didn't even bother looking where he was going. Or maybe he intentionally pushed me?

"Are you blind? Didn't you see who was walking ahead of you? Or did you deliberately push me?" I exclaimed to the guy who pushed me. Ugh! It's irritating because I almost kissed the floor.

He quickly removed his hood and eyeglasses and gave a half-smile. "I'm sorry, but I really need to go." But he's undeniably handsome. Ugh! What am I saying? Why am I acting this way? Unbeknownst to me, while I was staring at him, he slowly moved his face closer to mine. With one wrong move, our lips would surely meet. I felt like a statue, unable to move from my spot.

"Woman! Stop daydreaming about me. I know I'm handsome because that's what my parents say."

"Oh! The wind blows differently here. I should go! He's handsome, but he's too arrogant." I whispered to myself.

"Hays! I'll just whisper since he doesn't know how to. I could clearly hear him saying he's handsome."

Phoenix's pov...

That girl is irritating. She walked out on me and shouted in front of many people. My mom and dad never scold me like that, but she's relentless with her words. If only she hadn't blocked me earlier while I was chasing Hannah, I wouldn't have pushed her. But she's pretty. Suddenly, I remembered what happened earlier. It's annoying because Hannah left me abruptly.

After a while...

"Where are we going?" I asked my girlfriend, Hannah, holding her hand.

"We're going on a date."

"Another date?" I scratched my head. But she just glared at me. This girl is scary.

"Why don't you like it?"

"The guy with us is handsome," another girl said to her friend.

"Yeah, I wish he were mine," the other girl added, making Hannah angry. She really doesn't like it when others show interest in me. Is it my fault for being handsome?

"Hey! If you keep acting possessive of my boyfriend, I'll beat you both up. Leave! Leave! You're ruining my day, you jerks!" After yelling at the two girls, Hannah walked out, leaving me behind.

I walked slowly to avoid Akane noticing my presence, but it had no effect. My sister is good at sensing people around her.

"Hey, Kimiko! You're late. Where are you coming from?" It's really the fault of that guy. If he hadn't pushed me earlier, I would have been home early.

"I went to the mall. I bought something because it's boring here in the mansion." I showed her the shoes and clothes I bought.

I noticed Akane raising her eyebrows. She sat on the large sofa, giving me a stern lecture. "Just because you're bored, you think you can leave without me?"

I picked up the newspaper from the center table and sat next to Akane. "You were still sleeping, so I didn't wake you up to let you have your beauty rest."

I sighed, and Kimiko raised her eyebrows again. I lowered the newspaper, and she smiled, hugging me. "If you do this again, I'll really tell Dad. By the way, I put your uniform in your room. I feel embarrassed for you."

"Sorry, promise it won't happen again."

I stood up, heading to the fridge for some orange juice. "It's only right. For now, I will accept your apology."

"Did you call them?" Kimiko asked.

"I'm about to call."

"Hurry, call them. I want to see them."

"Hello, Akane. You called. How are you and Kimiko? When are you coming back?" Lueha's voice revealed how much she missed us. I smiled, missing them too.

"That's why I called, to tell you to visit us in the mansion."

"I don't understand..."

"I said we're here now in the mansion, in our old house. Remember? We'll wait for you." I hung up, put my phone back in my pocket, and turned to Kimiko.

"Lueha, who called?" My sister Hamari, who had just arrived from the gym, asked.

"It's Akane."

Hamari immediately dropped her gym bag and towel, wiping the remaining sweat from her face. "What did she say? I miss them both. When are they coming back here? If only Riffin hadn't disappeared, I'm sure they'd still be living here."

With a sad tone, Hamari looked at a picture frame where Riffin was still with us. "Enough with the emotions. She just said we should go to their mansion now because they're bored."

"Their mansion is far, and we still have classes at Haruko University. Mom and Dad won't allow us to go on vacation." This girl is probably still in space and hasn't returned. Maybe she just finished at the gym.

I flicked Hamari's ear, making her wince. "Fool! That's not the mansion I'm talking about. It's their old house."

She nodded. "Ah... I see. Why didn't you say so earlier? What are we waiting for? Let's get dressed quickly. We might be late."Excited and perhaps afraid of the night trip, Hamari, who can be a wolf at night (just kidding)

"Guard, please open the gate when someone rings the doorbell. And tell Yaya Lucy to bring out the marinated pork in the garden."

"Yes, Ms. Akane."
