Queen Stygian: Rebirth In The Apocalypse
Episode 1
-The buildings stood like charred logs, some of them leaning precariously. The pavement below was cracked and crumbling. And even now, after all this time, ash still drifted through the streets.
-Christia stepped on a dried leaf on the floor, the crackling sound resonating through the streets seemed to have caused a certain chill down out spine.
-We froze. But after a moment of still, a breath of relief escaped each of our lips.
Christia
The coast is clear... presumably
-She reported whilst turning to look at me.
-She sounded unsure, probably as a result of the fact that even if the streets were empty, we still felt that chill within us.
-I looked at her for a moment, deep in thoughts...
Olive [FL]
Let's move. Keep your steps quiet and stealth... I have a feeling we're not alone here
-I feel a hand slid up and down my back repeatedly, as if trying to calm me down. I turn and see Henry with a concerned expression on his face.
Olive [FL]
I can't just get rid of this feeling that... That someone or something is following us
Henry
You're just over thinking
Henry
The streets are empty
Henry
And if they really was a zombie, we would have noticed it ages ago. So calm down. Nothing is after us.
-We continued to move forward. The streets were as empty as they were dark, but the nagging feeling still wouldn't creep out.
-I look into a distance, the constant fickle of a red bulb attracted my attention.
Olive [FL]
The lights are still on. Maybe there are some survivors over there.
-It was an apartment building with over ten floors, they was no possible way that even a survivor wouldn't be hiding there.
-This was already my hundredth mission and I could say I was a bonafide professional in this field
-Ten years ago. The apocalypse broke out... And it was brutal.
-Men, women, children and the elderly were affected in every way. Not even a single spared. But what started it still remained unknown till this day.
-I was only eighteen when this all started. Few months away from writing my College Entrance Examination. I was in school as always and the struggle I faced was nothing less than a soldier in a battlefield.
-My school was No.1 in the whole of Kyoto and the amount of students there was no less than 20,000. So you could already imagine how lucky I was to be able to escape from such an hellhole.
-I remembered when we saw the first zombie. The school was in total chaos with people running helter skelter. I on the other hand was trapped in class, listening to my history teacher explain the history of something I have long forgotten...
-By the time I got wind of what was happening, half the school had already turned into man-eaters.
-I, my boyfriend, Henry and my stepsister Christia managed to escape but badly wounded.
-The rescue team was wary of us and put us in a long term quarantine to determine if we were infected or not.
-And of course, we were not... After our release, my first thought was to accept a mission from the base assignment hall and get out into the world to see what was going on.
-I did. And I was shocked. The world had fallen apart. We were barely holding on.
-But through my determination, I managed to rise up from the ashes and became the highest standing general in the whole of Shengkong base.
-I formed a team with Henry and Christia, along with Javelin and Casey whom we met three years into the apocalypse.
-And here we were, on a mission to rescue the last survivors in an outskirt city.
Episode 2
-We entered into the apartment complex through the back door as the front door was blocked by several items. We could've directly bust in through the front door, but we could risk making a sound... Incase something was really out here.
Javelin
We should split up and make our search faster
Olive [FL]
You're right. You and Casey should stay on the bottom floors. Henry, Christia and I will take care of the top floors.
Casey
Be careful up there. If anything occurs here, we will alert the three of you.
Henry
That's good. If the situation is out of control, rush up to meet us.
Olive [FL]
Make sure to take any supply you find. The base is running out of goods, if we want to survive, we cannot continue to rely on them for supplies.
-Henry, Christia and I climbed the stairs towards the sixth floor. And as much as I hated climbing stairs, we couldn't take the elevator as there was barely enough power to run it.
-Henry took the lead, Christia was in the middle and I took the rear. The flashlight shone through the distance, brightening our direction.
Christia
I will use my powers and try to check if there's anyone out there
-When the apocalypse first broke out, two things happened. One, several people turned into man eating monsters and two, a few of us gained supernatural abilities.
-This ability was like a breakthrough in humanity, and was the only thing that kept us till date.
-Henry has fire abilities. Christia has sensitivity powers, making her sensitive to sounds and smells. Javelin was blessed with wood abilities, she had the power to control and command plants. Casey has healing powers, enabling her to heal injuries. She was like a walking first-aid kit.
-I on the other hand have ice powers.
Christia
I'm picking up on something.
Christia
It sounds like footsteps, but the smell is horrible... Like someone who hasn't taken a shower in years.
Olive [FL]
Where are those footsteps heading to?
Christia
I think it's away from us... They're drifting farther and farther away, I'm almost unable to pick up any sounds.
Olive [FL]
Focus on it, let's follow the sound.
-We began running towards the footsteps, but kept our own steps as quiet as possible
Christia
We're getting closer
-After taking several more steps, we stop when Christia suddenly stops abruptly.
Christia
I can't pick up any sounds
Henry
Let's just try to trace whoever it is.
Olive [FL]
Christia, keep trying. If you pick up a sound, inform us immediately.
-We continued walking. Searching for this so-called person Christia claimed to have heard.
-Deep down, I couldn't really believe we were running after something we didn't even know was human.
-I mean, if it was human, he/she would've stopped upon hearing us or even walk into any of the rooms we ran past.
-Henry suddenly exclaims.
-I look up, and what I see leaves me in shock...
-All this while, we were running after it thinking it was some human. We were running to our death. The zombie turns to us, seemingly noticing us and roars loudly.
-I shriek. We started running, jumping several flight of stairs just to get away from it. It was quite shocking though, if it really was a zombie, Why didn't we notice it sooner?
Could it be a zombie above level 3...?
-Zombies above level 3 are rare, but they are almost like humans. They are strong and powerful, and could even control other Low leveled zombies.
I couldn't believe we just encountered a high level zombie.
Christia
How come we didn't notice it earlier?
Henry
It's surprising. Even with Christia's sensitivity, we still weren't able to tell it was a zombie.
Could it be...
Olive [FL]
What you're thinking is correct. That's zombie is a high leveled one
Christia
I can't believe we encountered a high level zombie at this time, we're not even prepared.
Olive [FL]
No time to question, just runnn
-We ran, as fast as our legs could carry us. We could've fought this monster head on if we weren't running out of energy at this point. The base was poor, and couldn't supply us with enough crystal nucleus to supplement our abilities. So our abilities were really poor, even if I was the strongest in the base, I was only a level 5, I couldn't fight off such a high level zombie.
We eventually reached the floor Javelin and Casey were at, and spotted them rummaging through a carton. Javelin was the first to spot us...
Episode 3
-Javelin and Casey wasted no time questioning and took to their heels. The zombie behind us kept roaring indiscriminately.
We reached the entrance but....
Casey
H-How are there so many zombies? When we came, we didn't spot a thing in this street.
Olive [FL]
It's that zombie, he summoned them.
Christia
It has already neared in.
Javelin
How the hell did you f*cking attract this monster?
Olive [FL]
It's a high level zombie, we didn't notice.
Olive [FL]
We fight... Obviously...
Henry
What? Are you crazy? That's a high level zombie, you're barely even a level 5 ability user, it will crush you in a second.
Casey
Henry's right. We have to think of another way.
-Think of another way...? I laugh. There is no way we can escape this place alive. At least we should take a fight before we die, we should die with dignity.
But they just won't listen
-The zombie was already standing before us. It's eyes were dead white and sightless as the eggs of spiders. It swung his head low in an impossible position, casting it's lifeless eyes at us. It was as if it could see.
But the eyes of a zombie are dead, they had the vision of bats and relied on echolocation to find their preys.
But the behavior of this zombie was weird, it was staring right at us. Right in our location.
Zombie
Roarrr.. Hiss... Food
Casey
Oh my gosh, did it just speak?
Zombie
I-I... roarrrr ... want F-food
Henry
You want food right? You're hungry right...
-Henry says to the zombie
Olive [FL]
What are you doing?
Henry
You want food. And if we give you food you'll let us go..
Zombie
T-hey w-want ffffood roaarr
-The zombie points to the horde outside the building.
Henry
Alright, we'll give you food...
Casey
Where are you gonna get food?
Javelin
It doesn't eat normal food like us Henry, it eats flesh, you can't give him our meal.
Henry
You promise you'll stay away if we give you food
Zombie
Roar... Food... Promise
Henry
Okay, we'll give you food.
Olive [FL]
What the heck are you doing?
-He turns to look at me...
Olive [FL]
Sorry? What do you mean by so—
-Before I could even finish my words, I feel a sudden force on my shoulders. And before I knew it, I was already in the horde of zombies, my flesh being torn and eaten open....
Olive [FL]
H-he betrayed me..
-A tear slips from my eyes. I couldn't believe my boyfriend of eleven years pushed me into a horde of zombies just to save himself.
The last thing I hear before losing consciousness is Casey's tears, Javelin's roar at Henry for what he did to me and Christia whisper..
Christia
Finally... She's gone...
-She wanted me dead all along..
