"Sigh, I'm tired" I walked out of the Cafe where I work as a part timer. "Oh, going already Misa-Chan? Aunt Lisa, my employer also a very kind lady asked in a light yet serious tone."Ya, have an project to work on." "Oh, is that so?" She smiled warmly and then continued. "Be careful on your way home, Misa-Chan." "Ah, I will Aunt Lisa." I smiled back and went out of the Cafe.

I took out my phone and surfed through the internet and chats. Then a game notification came.

"Wha- No way, it came"

I clicked on the notification and a window appeared. It read:-

"Sigh, stupid project. If not for it I could have played it now. After all how many days did I wait for the bonus scenes." I couldn't help but feel distressed. Whatever. Let's just finish the project fast and then play.

I sighed once again and looked up at the sky.

It's dark. Kinda ominous though.

Just when the lights turned green and vehicles started rumbling, I saw a ball bouncing a cross towards the other side of the crossing. And behind it a child but-

"THE TRUCK!!!!"

I didn't know what to do. But my body suddenly leaped forward and.....

..... Ah- it hurts. It hurts like hell. Am I dead? My eyelid feels heavy.

Not being able to move I lay on the dark road after getting hit. I tried to open my eyes slowly but I was struggling. I wanted to see what was happening. But all I could see was the sky and people gathering around. I tilted my head sideways. "Sigh, he's safe. Thank goodness." I thought as I saw the child hugging his mother and crying. I looked up and I saw the dark sky with countless stars. So that's where I'm going, huh?

I remembered my mother saying that when we die we will become stars and remain in the sky.

Ah... I died young. I had so much left to do. But-

Suddenly everything went black. Ah... So this is the end, huh? I thought while sighing inwardly. "Who knows, I was hit by truck sama after all, maybe-"

Suddenly everything went black.......

And that's how I died.......

I was alone. Even, in my very last moment on earth. I WAS ALONE.

The child me was not that happy. It was all because I didn't have any reason to be happy. The abuse of my mother and the repeated comparison with my brothers made me suffer more than anything. There was times when I wanted to end my miserable life. But I was scared. Scared of what will happen. The thought or emotion called scared led me to a conclusion that death is scarier than my miserable life. So, I tried my best. To excel in studies. To ignore every painful moment. To not die and live with what I  have. And I was free. On the first day of my high school life I made up and excuse of staying at a free dorm and left my home. No, I don't think of that dungeon as my home. I just wanted to get out of that place. Bullying of my brothers and abusing of my mother and scolding of my father.... Its all in the past now. Even when I was struggling to earn money on my own by working as a part timer in various places I felt relieved. I ignored the allowance my father sent. I didn't reply when my brothers asked  about me. I never went to celebrate any occasions even when my mother asked me to come. I just didn't want to be trapped in the nightmare I had when I was young.

And now.... It all came to an end.... Sigh, I finally escaped from them. I wonder if they would know that I am dead. They never cared about me anyway....

Sigh, looks like I have to do it myself.

I kicked my blanket and got up from my bed. I was half asleep and my eyes were hazy from the light. I walked forward to switch off the lights but -  where in the world is that switch? I stretched my arms as far as I can but there's no - OUCH!! What the???? Who put a couch in my bedroom? My sleepiness vanished into thin air as I hit my foot in a couch like thing.

I tried to open my eyes as I pushed away my sleepiness and what I saw next surpassed my pain as I let an inner scream reside in me.

What in the -

I was standing in a beautiful room that has "luxury" written all over it. It was so beautiful that the memories of my "death" came back to me. So I died huh? So is this heaven? No way I'm in HEAVEN.

I was so happy that I could help but leap in the air. I turned my head and looked towards my back.

Wow! Can't believe that I was sleeping there....

The luxury I couldn't experience even though I was the only daughter of a very rich man, is now right in front of me. I walked forward and slightly touched the bed. It was soft and comfy. I couldn't help myself fall in to the bed. It was warm and unbelievably comfortable.

I turned myself and pressed my back in the bed. And looked upwards there was a beautiful chandelier right about me emitting a warm yet radiating light. It was adorned with fancy jewels and seemed to be made of gold. I stood up and went near the huge window. A cool breeze brushed past me and played with my silver hair.

Hmm, silver hair.... WAIT SILVER HAIR???? how did my hair turn silver, I mean it is beautiful but where did my black hair go?

I rushed towards the huge mirror and glanced at my reflection. "No way, who are you?"

'I can't believe it but, I think I have become a child. Oh come on, a "CHILD"!!!! And that too a 9 year old girl with beautiful silver hair with a tiny of blue and mysterious ocean blue eyes. I have to say, she will become a great beauty when she grow up. But that's not the problem here. Why am I in a child's body? What is going on here?'

Suddenly the huge golden door creaked opened and a girl in a maid costume came in. She was holding a suitcase. She placed it near the shelf and lifted her head. 'our eyes met'. She looked at me with a surprise but returned to the familiar indifferent look in a second. 'wait, familiar? Do I know her?'

I opened my mouth and tried to call out to her when the same golden door creaked open like before. I glanced towards the sound and another girl in a similar yet different maid costume came in. She also glanced at me and made a flustered face.

' what's up with them? Why are they acting like they saw a demon? '. While I pondered over there flustered faces the maid who came in first bowed her head while holding the hem of her dress gracefully with her legs crossed in the back.

I automatically nodded and glanced at the other maid as if I was being controlled.

She who still wore a flustered look took a few steps and bowed while trembling. Even though it was not as graceful as the first one it could pass as a good one.

As I stared at the young maid, the other one spoke up addressing the "me" now.

"Lady Epsom, I apologise for not coming earlier. We didn't want to wake you up since it's still early in the morning"

Although she spoke fluently, it's obvious that she searching for the apt words to continue. It's as if she didn't want to annoy me by saying something unintended.

They addressed me- no, this body as "lady". So I might have a higher status than them. If that's the case then-

"Emma, you don't have to apologize for something trivial like that. I know that it's still early, I just wanted to start waking up early since I will be 10 in a few months"

I put an angelic smile and said.

For some reason, they seemed to be staring at me.

'well, that's expected since their real lady would never talk or smile like that'.

Then one of the maid raised her head. She had a face with hopeful eyes.

"I'm happy to hear that, Lady Epsom. If that's the case then we will try to come as early as possible so we would be of help for you." She smiled gently as she spoke.

I nodded in disapproval.

"No, just take your time and come. You do have other jobs than aiding me, right?"

Both of them looked at me in astonishment. The young maid who had a scared face on her the whole time, looked happy and relieved now. Looks like that went well. Then-

"I'm really grateful that you guys care for me".

I stopped and then continued.

"But I really would like some time alone. So-"

"Of course milady, please take your time and call us when you need any help"

"Yes, we would always be here for aiding you"

'oh, she seems happy. I mean really HAPPY'

"We would take our leave now then, milady"

I nodded as they left the room. The smile I had faded away into thin air. I clenched my fist and touched the mirror.

"luxurious room, beautiful silver hair, mysterious ocean blue eyes and-" I remembered how the maid addressed me. "Lady Epsom." 'of course, how could I forget' "LADY EPSOM EDINBURGH" My face was distorted and sadness or whatever starting filling me. I turned around and lay down in the bed facing the door, dazed. I felt helpless.
