Monkey D. Luffy runs through the village, a determined look on his young face.
Luffy
Hey, everyone! I’m Monkey D. Luffy, and I’m gonna become the King of the Pirates!
Makino
(smiling) kindly Luffy, slow down! You always say that!
Woop Slap
grumbling That boy is going to bring trouble one day…
Villager
(whispering) Look at that kid.
Villager
He’s always talking about becoming the Pirate King.
Luffy
(to himself) First, I need to find a ship and a crew.
Luffy
That’s the first step!
The Red-Haired Pirates Arrive
The Red-Haired Pirates’ ship docks at Foosha Village.
Shanks and his crew step onto the shore, greeted by the villagers.
Shanks
(cheerfully) Hey everyone! Ready for some fun?
Benn Beckman
(calmly smoking) Seems like the village hasn’t changed much.
Lucky Roux
(with a mouthful of meat) This place has the best food!
Yasopp
(looking around) Where’s my little boy?
Limejuice
(laughing) Probably hiding from your ugly mug, Yasopp!
Hango
(carrying supplies) Let’s get settled in, crew.
Bonk Punch & Monster
(waving to the villagers) Hello, everyone!
Luffy runs up to Shanks and his crew, eyes wide with admiration.
Luffy
(excitedly) Shanks! Let me join your crew!
Shanks
(laughing) You’re still too young, Luffy. Maybe in ten years!
Luffy
(pouting) But I’m strong! I can help!
Shanks
(smiling warmly) Prove it to me then.
**Higuma the Bear Appears**
Higuma, a bandit, strides into the bar with his subordinates, sneering at Shanks and his crew.
Higuma
(arrogantly) You pirates think you own this place? Get lost!
Makino
(nervously) Please, there’s no need for trouble…
Shanks
(calmly) We don’t want any trouble. Let’s just enjoy our drinks.
Higuma
(angrily) You’re mocking me!
Higuma’s Bendit Subordinate
(grinning) Boss, let’s teach them a lesson.
Luffy
(angrily) Leave them alone!
Shanks
(protectively) Luffy, stay back.
**The Devil Fruit Incident**
Luffy, upset by the confrontation, accidentally eats a mysterious fruit from Shanks’ treasure chest.
Luffy
(chewing) What is this weird fruit?
Shanks
(shocked) Luffy, no! That’s a Devil Fruit!
Luffy
(realizing) I can’t swim anymore?
Shanks
(sighing) That’s right. But you’ve got a powerful ability now. Use it wisely.
Higuma returns, kidnapping Luffy and taking him to sea, accompanied by his subordinate.
Luffy
(struggling) Let me go!
Higuma
(smirking) You’re coming with me, brat!
Shanks
(determined) We have to save him!
Red-Haired Pirates
(rallying) Aye, Captain!
**The Lord of the Coast**
The sea monster, Lord of the Coast, emerges, attacking Higuma’s boat.
Higuma
(panicking) What is that thing?!
Higuma’s Bendit Subordinate
(terrified) Boss, let’s get out of here!
Shanks
(leaping into action) I won’t let anything happen to you, Luffy!
Shanks
Shanks loses his arm saving Luffy from the sea monster.
Luffy
(crying) Shanks! Your arm!
Shanks
(smiling) It’s just an arm. As long as you’re safe.
Luffy
(determined) I’ll become a great pirate, Shanks. Just like you!
Shanks
(handing) Luffy his straw hat Then take this hat.
Shanks
Return it to me when you’ve become a great pirate.
The Red-Haired Pirates prepare to leave Foosha Village.
Shanks
(to Luffy) We’ll meet again, Luffy. Stay strong.
Luffy
(with Shanks’ hat on his head) I will, Shanks.
Luffy
I’ll become the King of the Pirates!
Luffy stands on a hill, looking out to sea, the wind blowing through his hair and Shanks’ hat.
Luffy
(confidently) My adventure begins now!

Ch 02: A Pirate’s First Steps
Luffy
(excitedly) Today’s the day I set sail!
Luffy
Time to find my crew and adventure out on the Grand Line!
Villager
(concerned) Are you really going through with this?
Villager
The sea is dangerous.
Luffy
(confident) Absolutely!
Luffy
I’ve got this straw hat and a big dream.
Luffy
What could go wrong?
Shanks
(from a distance) Just remember what I told you, Luffy.
Shanks
Be prepared for anything.
Luffy
(nodding) I will, Shanks! Thanks for everything!
Luffy boards a small boat and begins to set sail.
Suddenly, the sea becomes turbulent, and Luffy’s dinghy is caught in a whirlpool.
Luffy
(panicking) Whoa! This isn’t good!
Luffy’s dinghy is pulled into a large ship where he lands with a thud.
The crew of the ship surrounds him, laughing mockingly.
Pirate 1
(laughing) Look what the sea dragged in!
Pirate 2
(sneering) A scrawny kid with a straw hat!
Luffy
(grinning) Who are you guys?
The pirates part to reveal
Alvida, a large, intimidating woman wielding a massive iron mace.
Alvida
(smirking) I am the great pirate Alvida!
Alvida
Who dares to trespass on my ship?
Koby, a timid boy with glasses, peeks out from behind the crew, nervously wringing his hands.
Coby
(whispering to himself) This is bad…
Coby
Alvida is going to be furious…
Luffy
(cheerfully) Hi there! Who are you?
Coby
(stammering? I-I’m Koby.
Coby
I’ve been working on this ship for years… I don’t have a choice.
Alvida
(shouting? Koby! Who is this brat?
Coby
(trembling) H-he just appeared on the ship, Lady Alvida…
Later, in a quieter part of the ship, Luffy and Koby talk while the crew is busy.
Luffy
(curiously) Why are you working for her if you don’t want to?
Coby
(sighing) I was trying to leave my hometown on a boat, but I accidentally boarded Alvida’s ship.
Coby
I’ve been stuck here ever since. My dream is to join the Marines and capture bad guys!
Luffy
(grinning) Then why don’t you just leave?
Coby
(shocked) Are you crazy? Alvida would kill me!
Alvida and her crew find Luffy and Koby talking.
Alvida glares at them menacingly.
Alvida
(angrily) What are you two whispering about?
Alvida
Koby, are you planning to betray me?
Coby
(trembling) N-no, Lady Alvida! I would never!
Luffy
(standing up) He wants to join the Marines! And I’m gonna help him!
Alvida
(laughing) You? Help him? I’d like to see you try!
Luffy charges at Alvida, his body stretching as he throws a punch.
Luffy
(shouting) Gomu Gomu no Pistol!
Alvida is sent flying, crashing into the ship’s mast.
Alvida Crew
(shocked) He defeated Alvida!
Koby watches in awe as Luffy defeats Alvida, his fear replaced by determination.
Coby
(muttering) to himself If Luffy can do it, so can I…
Luffy
(grinning) See? You don’t have to be afraid anymore.
Coby
(nodding) You’re right. I’ll follow my dream and join the Marines!
**The Grand Line and the Marines**
Luffy and Koby sit on the deck, looking out at the sea.
Coby
explaining If you want to become the King of the Pirates, you’ll need to find the One Piece.
Coby
It’s hidden somewhere in the Grand Line.
Luffy
(determined) Then that’s where I’ll go!
Coby
(worriedly) But the Marines are always looking for pirates.
Coby
You’ll have to be careful.
Luffy
(confidently) I’m not afraid of the Marines.
Luffy
Nothing will stop me from becoming the King of the Pirates!
The next day, Luffy and Koby prepare to set sail on a small boat they found on the ship.
Coby
(nervously) Are you sure this is a good idea?
Luffy
(grinning) Absolutely! Let’s go find the One Piece!
As they sail away, the silhouette of a Marine ship appears on the horizon.
Coby
(pointing) Look, Luffy! It’s the Marines!
Luffy
(laughing) This is going to be fun!

Ch 03: Introducing Pirate Hunter Zoro
✨Introducing Pirate Hunter Zoro✨
Luffy and Koby sail towards a new destination, Shells Town.
Luffy
“grinning” Koby, I heard about this guy named Zoro.
Luffy
He’s a pirate hunter. I want him on my crew!
Coby
(worriedly) Zoro? The Pirate Hunter?
Coby
But Luffy, he’s dangerous!
Luffy
(determined) That’s why I want him. He sounds strong!
Luffy and Koby arrive at Shells Town, where the townsfolk are bustling about.
The atmosphere changes when they hear Zoro’s name.
Townsfolk 1
(whispering) Did you hear? Zoro’s been arrested by the Marines.
Townsfolk 2
(nervously) And Captain Morgan is in charge…
Townsfolk 2
I wouldn’t want to get on his bad side.
Luffy
(curiously) Who’s Captain Morgan?
Coby
(explaining) He’s the Marine captain here. People say he’s ruthless.
Luffy and Koby approach the Marine base, where they see a large courtyard.
In the middle, a man with green hair is tied to a post.
Luffy
(excitedly) That must be Zoro!
Coby
(nervously) Luffy, we should be careful…
A young girl named Rika approaches Luffy and Koby, holding a small box of rice balls.
Rika
(whispering) Are you here to see Zoro?
Luffy
(nodding) Yeah! What’s he doing here?
Rika
(sadly) He’s been arrested by the Marines because he stood up to Helmeppo, Captain Morgan’s son.
Coby
(shocked) What happened?
Rika
(explaining) Helmeppo was being mean, and Zoro defended us.
Rika
But Helmeppo lied and said he’d let Zoro go if he survived being tied up for a month without food or water.
Rika
He never planned to keep his promise.
Luffy spots Helmeppo boasting to the Marines about his father’s power and how he tricked Zoro.
Helmeppo
(smugly) Zoro will be executed soon, and there’s nothing he can do about it!
Luffy
(angrily) So, you’re the one who tricked Zoro?
Luffy punches Helmeppo, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Helmeppo
(furiously) You’ll pay for this! My father will hear about this!
Luffy approaches Zoro, who is tied to the post and looking weak but defiant.
Luffy
(grinning) Hey, I’m Luffy. Want to join my crew?
Zoro 🗡️
(scowling) What kind of idiot are you? I’m a pirate hunter.
Luffy
(determined) I know.
Luffy
But you’re strong, and I need strong people to help me become the King of the Pirates.
Zoro 🗡️
(skeptical) You’re crazy.
Luffy
(smiling) Maybe. But I’m going to save you, whether you like it or not.
Rika explains more about Zoro to Luffy and Koby as they prepare a plan.
Rika
(tearfully) Zoro protected me and my mother from Helmeppo’s cruelty.
Rika
He’s a good person, even if he is a pirate hunter.
Coby
(nodding) We have to help him, Luffy.
Luffy and Koby sneak into the Marine base at night, bringing food and water to Zoro.
Luffy
(smiling) Here, eat this. You need your strength.
Zoro 🗡️
(reluctantly) Why are you helping me?
Luffy
(determined) Because you’re going to be my first mate.
Luffy
And we’re going to find the One Piece together.
Zoro 🗡️
(after a moment) If you can get me out of here, I’ll consider it.
