An Adventure Through A Magical System; The Savior Of The Greatest Civilization

Chapter 1

"Greetings, master. Congratulations on binding to the magical system. Coming up is your first mission, time travel."

Kurt flinched when a transparent screen suddenly flashed in front of his eyes. The screen's display was complete with all the details about him.

Starting from his full name, height, weight, blood type and the most shocking part for him was the section of his achievements that Kurt had archived since his birth.

Kurt began to have doubts. What kind of system is this? From where does this system get all the complete information about himself, even half of that information he never knew.

Furthermore, the area around him was all in white colour.

"Where am I?" Unconsciously he asked.

"As an introduction, my name is system 07. I am a child of this magical system that has been assigned to assist and supervise you for the given mission."

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about?" Kurt felt his brain stop working when the programmed voice like a robot introduced himself.

When Kurt was cleaning the attic of his rental house, he found a strange coffer. The coffer looked like an antique treasure chest, just like the most typical ancient treasure.

From various sources and experiences, Kurt knew that old people often warned the younger generation to stay away from antiques because they were worried the items or treasures had guardians.

Guardians of antiques or ancient items and treasures were usually evil spirits such as devils and demons.

If someone touched or took that antiques treasures, the guardians would follow that person and a terrible calamity would befall him. So, Kurt decided to ignore the antique chest and continued tidying the attic.

That night, when Kurt was sleeping he had a strange dream. In his dream, he saw an antique chest that he had found at the attic. When Kurt saw the antique chest in his dream, he immediately woke up.

The first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was the antique chest. Kurt took a deep breath, trying to calm down.

According to the customs and beliefs of his ancestors, cursed antique items were passed down treasures to descendants or great-grandchildren or to the person who touched the item or treasure.

But the strange thing was, Kurt didn't even pay attention or touch the antique chest at all. Kurt was getting more and more worried about the strange chest.

In his mind, he only thought that there was an evil spirit that wanted to make a deal with him.

In his belief, it was a common practice to do in the past. The deals usually involved blood as it was called as blood covenant. His ancestors always made deals with evil spirits for their respective interests.

One of them was the tremendous strength from evil spirits and pure blood from human race. Human race starved for the strength while the evil spirits highly valued human blood.

Kurt didn't know what to do. According to the taboo of his ancestors, if humans greeted the creatures of evil spirit's world, then it meant the humans were agreed to make a deal.

A deal with evil spirits was a bloody curse that required the sacrifices of the human's entire lineage to an evil spirit. Their life and blood would be bound to the existence of the spirit until they died.

"Congratulations, you have found a hidden system. Please verify your identity to continue the game."

Kurt flinched when the antique chest in front of his eyes suddenly made a sound like a programmed robot.

Kurt's brow furrowed, he went from fear to confusion. Antique chest but it sounds like a modern times' thing. It looks like this thing is having identity crisis issues too.

Kurt got out of his bed, and moved to turn on the light.

After his room was lit by lights, he noticed, the size of the antique chest right now looked smaller than the last time he saw it.

The colour of the antique chest also looked golden unlike before. Before this, the antique chest colour was dark brown.

"Please verify your identity to continue the game." Once again the robot's voice rang out. Kurt looked at it strangely.

"Game?" He asked in confusion.

What kind of game in an antique chest with robot's voice? I thought antiques thing often sounded scary. Is this the evil spirit of modern times?

"Please verify your identity to continue the game." The antique chest continued to ring out. The longer the antique chest rang, the louder it became.

It was two o'clock in the morning. Kurt was so worried that someone would knock his door or complain the source of robotic noise to his landlord later.

So, without thinking too much about the consequences and wanted to avoid neighbours' complaints, Kurt took a bottle of water from the bedside table and poured it over the antique chest that sitting at the end of his bed.

According to his logic, everything related to robots must not be exposed to water. So, if he poured water on the antique chest, the antique chest would be damaged.

But unfortunately, when Kurt pours water on the antique chest, the antique chest says, "Congratulations, your identity has been confirmed."

Before Kurt's mind could think of what was happening, the antique chest started to shine brightly until Kurt could see nothing but a blinding white light.

"Greetings, master. Congratulations on binding to the magical system. Coming up is your first mission, time travel."

Kurt felt like he was about to pass out from the shock.

The white light was slowly disappearing until Kurt's eyes could see the surrounding area again. But not long after, he felt like he was about to pass out again, he wasn't in his room anymore!

Kurt's eyes looked around.

Everything was in white. Everything in the area was in white colour.

Table, sofa, tv, wardrobe, all books, all in white. The only thing that was not white was his pyjamas.

Kurt looked at the transparent screen that was filled with his detailed information again before he repeated his words slowly, "What kind of nonsense are you talking about?"

"I'm sorry master but this is not something nonsense. Master, you have been chosen to carry out a mission for the magical system which is a high-class system from the future."

Kurt growled angrily. "I don't want to listen to your nonsense system. Send me back. I didn't make a deal with you. I don't want to have anything to do with an evil spirit. Well, send me back."

"Master, I am not an evil spirit. I am a child of the magical system, System 07, the high-class system from the future."

Chapter 2

"I don't want to hear it, send me back!"

"I'm sorry master but I don't have the ability to send you back to your world. The only way for you to return to your world is to accept all the missions assigned to you, master." System 07 spoke up to explain.

"There are five types of missions that you must complete without fail. If you are found to have failed one of the given missions, you must pay compensation to magical system."

Kurt almost laughed at the silly and nonsensical explanation from System 07.

He couldn't see System 07 or the antique chest but he believed the screen in front of his eyes was the System 07.

"You brought me here, forced me to complete your game mission and if I failed, you told me to pay damages to you? Are you joking with me? Am I dreaming right now?" Kurt almost sighed before he collapsed onto the white couch near him.

A transparent screen that was displaying details about himself followed him to the couch. The strange screen was constantly displayed in front of his face as if it had been programmed for his own viewing.

"Master, you have agreed to participate in the mission by this magical system, so master, you have to bear all the losses caused by the your failure."

"You are a system that is good at manipulating people. Since when did I agree to participate your system's mission?" Kurt felt like he was about to cry talking to a high level system that was so good at twisting its words.

Why does his life so often collide with useless things such as this magical 07's antique chest?

"Since master poured water on me?" System 07 spoke hesitantly.

Kurt patted his forehead. "You said earlier that you were a magical system's child?"

"Yes, I am a child of magical system. Sytem 07 is a high standard system."

"Okay, now you go and drag your system father to meet me here. I have something to discuss with him."

"But I don't have system father, master."

"So why do you say you are a magical child of the system. I don't care, you go and call the system that is responsible for bringing me here."

"Master, I'm sorry but in order to talk or meet with my superiors, you need to complete all the missions that have been given first. I'm sorry master, I can't help you."

Kurt was furious at the answer he received. He sat quietly while leaning on the couch without saying a word. If he spoke, System 07 would speak too and it would end up with it telling him to accept and complete the mission.

"Master?" 07's robotic voice called him out.

Kurt remained silent as he looked at the screen that was displayed for him.

Participant's rank, total points, current mission type, cumulative points for all type of mission, total of successful missions, total of failed missions, one by one he read the parts and all the points displayed were all blank except for the part of the participant's rank.

In the participant rank section, the word new participant was written.

"Master, I will continue my explanation about the type of mission assigned by magical system for you. The first type of your mission is time travel. This mission, as its name, it is a mission related to traveling through time."

"For time travel mission, you will cross time to the era of the formation of human civilization with magical creatures. In this era, humans and magical creatures work together to govern and control their world."

"Due to the existence of magical creatures and also the ability of humans to use the power of nature, the world they live in always goes through war between magical creatures and humans."

"The main purpose of this mission is to prevent the imminent collapse of the greatest civilisation in the universe." Kurt raised an eyebrow, his brows furrowed at the robotic voice of System 07.

"So you want me to be a sort of peacekeeping force between humans and creatures of children's imaginations?" Kurt asked flatly.

System 07 flinched. "Master, magical creatures are not creatures of imagination. They are actually creatures that have existed thousands of years before humans. Ordinary humans cannot see them because they do not have special abilities."

"Yeah, right. Send me back. Right now." The information that 07’s system told him did not interest Kurt at all. It all sounded absurd to him.

"Master, you can't go back, you have to help me. You has to complete the mission assigned to you or I will be terminated from the system." System 07 pleaded in desperation.

Kurt's brow furrowed. Why does he have to be responsible for the system's magical children? If the magical system wants to delete System 07 because of its failure to force him to participate in this silly game mission, what does he have to worry about? That's not his problem.

"Master, if you successfully completes each mission given by magical system, you will receive a substantial reward. Each completed mission has a different value of rewards according to the difficulty level of each mission."

"In other words, if the difficulty level of your mission increases, then the reward you will receive will be more valuable. Master, you should not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity, maybe this mission will be able to change your life to a better life."

System 07 sounds cheerful when talking about rewards. All the desperate voices disappeared immediately in its system.

"Does the reward need blood covenant?"

Kurt's sudden question that involved blood made System 07 went stiff.

System 07 who was shocked by the question remained silent without answering and it made Kurt felt puzzled. It was not a secret that the priceless reward that the evil spirit could give to human was through a bloody covenant.

Therefore, it was normal to perform blood covenant rituals before doing anything involving evil spirits.

"Why are you silent?"

"M—Master, why do you need to do blood covenant? Do you need blood as a reward for a completed mission?" The robotic system stuttered while asking.

"Huh? You don't need blood 07?" Kurt answered its question with a question.

"N—No. I don't need blood, I'm not a vampire. M—Master, are you actually a vampire?"

Kurt snorted. He ignored System 07's query without guilt. "Okay, if you don't need a bloody agreement I will consider your mission. Now, tell me about the reward of the mission again, clearly and precisely."

"Huh? But master, are you a vampire? I need you to, oh master, we're late! We're leaving for the first mission now!"

Chapter 3

"Arrrggggggggh!!!" Kurt was actually falling from the sky at a very high speed.

His terrified screams were very loud however the screams could not penetrate his own ears.

Kurt's ears were filled only with the roaring and rushing of the wind. His vision was also blurry from the gusts of wind as it approached and slapped his face as well as the rest of his body.

Kurt felt like his heart had plummeted to the ground as soon as he opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the thick rainforest from above. The rainforest from top view was like the endless ocean.

"Master, I'm sorry! I've set the wrong coordinate!" System 07 screamed in panic.

Even though System 07 was admitting its mistake, Kurt had no time to think. His brain only thought he would die when he hit the ground.

How could he avoid dying if he was falling down at a speed faster than a rocket. The distance from the ground was quickly decreasing, and Kurt's throat was getting sore and dry from screaming too loud.

Meanwhile, System 07 was panicking, he hadn't fully explained the first mission but his master was likely to end his life in a matter of seconds.

"And landed successfully!" Ostrix grinned enthusiastically as he buffered his wind beneath Kurt before Kurt's body plummeted to the ground.

Kurt's tightly closed eyes opened wide. Kurt was less than two meters away from plunged to the ground. His heart was beating so fast that forced him to breathe through his mouth.

His whole body felt limp on top of the wind that gently swirled underneath him. The gently rotating wind like a tornado securely protected his body from touching the ground by balancing his body in the air.

"What are you doing? I heard your screams from afar." Ostrix laughed loudly. The face of the human who screamed loudly looked very funny in his eyes. His face was as pale as if there wasn't even a drop of blood.

Kurt just stared at Ostrix while he laid limply on top of the whirlwind. When he fell down from the sky, all the remaining energy had was used up to scream.

"Hey, thief! Don't run away! How dare you steal goods from palace officials!"

The laughing Ostrix looked behind his back before he grinned proudly. "Looks like the stupid puppets from the palace have found me. Okay, I'll go first. See you again."

After saying that, Ostrix glided fast using his wind power. He smiled widely as their eyes met and in blink of an eye, Ostrix continued to disappear from Kurt's sight while Kurt was still processing and thinking about what was happening in front of his eyes.

Several hours later, Kurt laid on the ground after the whirlwind stopped by slowly shrinking and disappearing from beneath him.

The surrounding area was just a small, empty town. From the top view, the area looked like a thick rainforest area with green trees but from the ground view, it didn't look like a forest at all.

This was because the entire area of the place had been protected with magical powers that capable to manipulate the ***** eye.

People who stood outside the manipulation area would see the sight the manipulator wanted while people inside the manipulation area could see the real view.

In fact, the rainforest area that Kurt saw when he was falling earlier was purely a manipulative force as the real area was actual only a sparsely populated rural area without forest.

"M-Master?" System 07 hesitated as it called its master.

"Are you trying to kill me?" Kurt scowled under his breath faintly as he heard a robotic voice in his mind.

Nothing interesting from the surrounding area. There are only a few dilapidated houses and also some deserted shop houses without customers.

"No! I didn't want to kill you! I didn't send you to the sky on purpose." System 07 almost wanted to cry. This was his first experience handling a mission.

"Why are you crying? I'm just asking." Kurt snorted. He was slowly getting annoyed with the system. Besides, he felt quite surprised, does the computer system even have feelings?

"I don't cry. I just... I just feel bad."

Kurt rolled his eyes at the ridiculous explanation from a system that admitted he was a high ranking system. "It's okay. Now, tell me about this place."

"Yes, sir. Currently we are in Sonnental Village. This village is a small village in the Strahlend Kingdom in the western region."

"Difficult name for places." Kurt commented a few words.

"Yes, I agree."

"So what should I do now?" He asked as he got up and cleaned his pants. Not even a glimpse of a human being could be seen around the area.

"According to the information I've received, you have to save this world from being destroyed by the war between humans and magical beings..." System 07's voice became slower.

"I already know that information. I need to inform me, what should I do now. Where should we move?" Kurt groaned in annoyance. His patience level was getting thinner and thinner as he listened to the robotic voice.

"Master... I'm sorry but I don't know. I can't access the information system." The system answered with fear. His voice became quieter.

"Are you kidding me?!" Kurt almost laughed in disbelief and anger.

"What kind of system are you? You can't even do your job properly. You're assigned to assist me but you know nothing. You've failed to provide the reward information, you set wrong coordinate and almost made me die."

Kurt held the urge to slam his head on the ground. Why would an incompetent system decide to drag him to this world without knowing anything?

"I am sorry." The robotic voice became worse than before.

Kurt wanted to groan in irritation after hearing the guilty plea but he decided to stop himself.

For some reason, he felt he had caused the incompetence system hurt with his words. He immediately closed his mouth from spewing complaints before he started to walk to a nearby shop.

Maybe he could get some information from the sellers instead of hoping the pitiful system. He slowly paced while he heard a soft cry in his mind.
