Kiera and Cindy were walking home after choir practice laughing and giggling on how off-key the choir sounded
They didn’t have a professional person teaching them, just someone who knew a little bit about music and took on the role as Choir Director
She was doing her best, but the choir was a mess
The choir had people between the ages of 15 to 35.
So it wasn't made up of old people who didn't have time to follow instructions and were doing their own thing.
Kiera thought there were too many sapranos and not enough tenors
And some were not listening to everyone else and were singing flat and that just caused a dominio effect of more people following the flat singers
It just was horrible and cringe worthy
The director looked physically and emotionally tired and after practise just told every one to drink lots of water and stay away from dairy. They had to sing Sunday.
Kiera and Cindy couldn't help recounting the practise and how there was this girl whose singing was so off, it would stick out of the blend.
No one knew how to tell her.
Kiera and Cindy lived two houses away from each other.
They waved each other goodbye promising they'll see each other in church Sunday.

Sunday came and Kiera and her mom eased in next to Cindy and her mom
After the difficult week Kiera had, she felt a little more relaxed after the worship.
While offering was being collected Kiera felt as if someone was staring at her.
When she looked across the pews her eyes connected with a guy's own.
He smiled and she smiled back
She had never seen him in church before and she guessed he was new.
When it came time to welcome the new member and greet them by shaking hands, it was confirmed he was new.
He sort of held on to Kiera's hand longer than he did the others.
He even told her his name, Teagan.
She smiled and told him hers.
It was announced that it was time for the choir to sing
Kiera swore she heard somebody groan.
The granny in front of her started to whisper in a not so soft way to her neighbour..... "Lord have mercy, brace yourself."

When everyone was on stage in the order they were suppose to be, they waited for the signal from the director to start.
Kiera noticed there were two choir members who were not at the last two practices.
In fact they barely came practice sessions, but they were there today to sing.
Her eyes met Teagan's again and of course he had another smile waiting for her.
The music started and she pulled her eyes from his.
The choir began singing and low and behold the two who didn't have time to come to practice, voices were the loudest and most off-key
Someone made the sign of the cross.
Seems like their singing was creating a heat because hand fans were going double time.
One Tanty looked like she was getting chest pains and was escorted out.
When Kiera looked at Teagan again, he gave her a weak smile
Finally they were done and recieved a faint applause.
They shriveled on the seat from the amount of glares they got.
